BYO baguette with only 2 small slices of roast beef
    Marla R.

Came here because my husband said that the French dip was fantastic. And he again loved his. I'm not so impressed with $10 for half of a sandwich with literally 2 small slices of deli roast beef on it. I choose no other toppings so I didn't expect a lot, but more than 1 oz of meat was expected. And a handful of chips was my side. I was not allowed to add a side of au jus to my basic sandwich, so I had to use his - which was fine. But I actually just spread some butter on the bread instead and it was very good that way. In spite of not figuring out a way for me to have au jus instead of the cheese and other toppings, the order taker was friendly. I'll be back for bread and bakery goodness. But not for another meal that left me wanting.

Disappointing to walk into a French bakery at opening time and get served yesterday's croissant. I asked the cashier if the pastries are all from today and he said yes without blinking. From the looks of the dirty and sloppy display case, as well as the crust and old flavor of croissant, they are Not fresh. A French Bakery (or any bakery) should represent themselves well when it comes to baked goods, especially a croissant. Looks at the pictures and judge for yourself- I wouldn't waste my time coming here.

Have not been here in a very long time but we were out and about the other day and decided to stop and get dinner. I'm so amazed they are still here because we just never see big crowds here. But they are still here and we had a very good meal. They used to offer bread and jam but I guess due to COVID, that is no longer available. Wife asked about it and was told you just have to ask now, it's kept behind the counter. Not sure how anybody knows this unless you ask. They have a big dining area with two sides, separated by a fire place. We chose a table by the fire. They also have a separate dining room that you have reserve to host get-togethers, meetings, etc. Overall the place is well kept up and clean. They have a incredible case up front with lots of yummy pastries to look at it and order. You order at the counter and then sit and your food is brought to you. I ordered the Caesar Salad, which was just ok. I found the lettuce a bit too soft and wilted for my taste but the croutons were tasty and the dressing was ok. I also ordered the French Dip with caramelized onions. It was served on a toasted baguette with provolone and a creamy horseradish sauce. I really liked the sandwich...quite tasty and not too over the top with the horseradish. The au jus was good and flavorful...it could have been a tad hotter in my opinion. Wife ordered the Beef and Parmesan Potatoes, which is really a glorified Shepherds Pie. Ok...so this was the best dish of the night! The potatoes were fluffy and full of cheesy goodness and flavor and it was a hearty portion. Centered into the potatoes was gravy with chunks of tender beef, carrots and peas, and mushrooms. The gravy is made with red wine, which gives it the perfect hearty, homey taste to the dish. We didn't get dessert this time around. Overall a really good meal. Can't really speak about the staff because you have very little interaction with them. They were friendly at the counter when we ordered and maybe three words were spoken when the dinner was delivered. I toggled between a three and four star rating, reviewed my last review and decided to stay with four stars.

Where and what to eat on a rare cooler rainy day in Arizona... let's go for some great soup and sandwiches at this adorable French themed restaurant. The service was great and very welcoming..The tomato soup was a bit salty for my taste..but the grilled cheese paired well in it.. huge portions..had to take some for lunch the next day...still tasted good It really made you get a feel of French culture.. while in the restroom ..over the intercom ..so cute they went over common phrases in French.. Had a little bakery counter to purchase all your favorite French pastries there.. They do have an App too if you want to gain rewards on the money you spend. Great place for lunch.. I will definitely come back here to try out the other great food they offer.

Food was great! Everything I had was delicious. From my ham and cheese croissant, Nutella muffin, Nutella Crossaint and macarons . The croissant dough was your typical buttery, flakey but a little more dense so for me it was way better. I liked the concept of ordering your food from the counter and someone brought it to you. You get your drinks before hand so you can enjoy your tea, juice, coffee while waiting for your food. I would suggest pre ordering regardless your dining in or taking it to go. On peak hours the lines can get long hence your food taking a little longer to be served. They also have a reward program and an App so you can do the ordering that way as well. Now, I wish they had La Madeleine in San Diego so I don't have to wait to visit AZ just to eat their food.

5 Stars - A Beautiful Place to Work & Dine! La Madeleine is truly a gem! Not only is it a warm and welcoming place to enjoy delicious French-inspired food, but it's also an amazing place to work. The atmosphere is cozy and charming, the food is always fresh and flavorful, and the pastries? Absolutely to die for. What really makes La Madeleine stand out is the sense of community--both among the team and with the guests. Whether you're here for a relaxing meal or behind the counter making it happen, the experience is full of heart. I love it here and feel lucky to be part of such a wonderful environment!

Best coffee, best breakfast, period. For years now this place always hits the right points. My boyfriend and I come here once in a while and honestly never really disappoints. Truly love the taste of the cappuccino and I usually get the breakfast croissant (super good) but this time I tried the new French toast breakfast, and omg sooo good. The service was great, we went yesterday and the man who was in the register was also coming and going and doing so much. He was a really nice young man. The shop sometimes could do a better in cleaning... but other than that you are awesome

Very cute restaurant, lovely music, superb service. Coffee is also good, had the 'French Roast' and it definitely hit the spot. I ordered the vegetable soup and it was pretty good, bread on the side is always a nice gesture. I wasn't too thrilled with the menu choices but that's just me, I'm gluten free and don't eat a lot of sugar and of course bakery items...if you do though, their pastries look fabulous. Service here is reason enough to stop by and enjoy a lunch or breakfast with your bestie.

The food is great! The service is even better! I love the restaurant... it is always clean and comfortable. Perfect environment to relax by yourself, get some work done or even meet with a friend and let's not talk about the muffins and cookies. This place is a MUST try!

    Sad Grilled cheese sandwich

It pains me to write this but La Madeleine has simply fallen off in its standards. Once an avid defender to my coworkers who swore it was mediocre, I appreciated their simply upset tummy friendly meals and bakery options. It used to be quick and prompt and food wasn't out of this world but it was good! However, recently you arrive for your pickup order and it's not ready until 15-20 minutes after the time they said it would be. Today was my final straw, I ordered a tomato soup and half grilled cheese sandwich deal with a snickerdoodle cookie, a baguette, and a strawberry romanoff. Not only did it take 20 minutes after my order was ready for it to actually be ready (twice now they started packing it when I arrive) but they were out of tomato soup and the strawberry Romanoff and put in a pasta and roll substitute they didn't ask me about and I genuinely thought was gross. They didn't think to tell me they were out of anything or offer a refund vs substitute, I would've chosen the refund and walked away with nothing happily. The grilled cheese was cold and it has always tasted plain without their tomato soup anyways. The only thing I enjoyed was the cookie and baguette, so of my 25 dollar order I appreciated the blue of 7 dollars worth. If you want to waste your money, wait a long time, and be served mediocre cold food this is the place for you. You can find me at Paris baguette which doesn't have as many meal options but at least has good fresh food and bakery items, prompt service, and you can actually stop there on a lunch break without stressing.

The service stood out immediately--our server was attentive, friendly, and made sure everything arrived quickly and exactly as ordered. The food itself was hearty and satisfying. The steak breakfast was cooked well and paired perfectly with the traditional breakfast sides. The Shasta Scramble was flavorful and filling, and the drinks were kept refreshed throughout the meal. Everything came out hot and well prepared, showing the kitchen clearly takes pride in consistency. What made the visit especially enjoyable was the combination of comfort-food portions, efficient service, and a laid-back diner environment. It felt like the kind of place where you can settle in, enjoy a solid meal, and leave happy. A great stop for a dependable, satisfying breakfast in Chandler.

Always hoping a local recommendation turns out great. *Service: the service was fair. Our waitress spent most of the time sitting in the booth across from us on her phone and checked in occasionally. A few times we had to ask for things we needed. Nothing rude, just not especially attentive or engaged. Definitely didn't feel like her #1 priority. *Food: I ordered the tuna *melt*. It was alright, but nothing to write home about. The tuna itself was relatively cold (should have been warm on a melt) and lacked flavor, the cheese wasn't melted (it's a "melt", right?), and the bread was good. I dipped and drenched in salt, pepper, ranch and hot sauce to give it some flavor. The fries were good, hot and tasty. Overall, it felt like a mid-level café sandwich made by a basic "cook", not a well curated restaurant sandwich. My lunch buddy ordered a smothered omelette that looked great, and he said it was very good, so that was good. *Ambiance: the atmosphere was decent. Very basic, a bit cold feeling, café-like, casual, and reasonably comfortable. Nothing stood out strongly other than it seemed pretty clean and bright. *Value: my tuna melt and fries, with no drink, was $16. Not great, not terrible. It felt like an $8-$10 sandwich max for what I got, not a standout value. I posted a picture of their specials board so you can get a feel for the value. *Overall: everything here was fair, food, service, and ambiance while value was not great. Nothing bad, nothing memorable. A three-star experience for me. I wouldn't rush back, but wouldn't avoid it if I was in the area and others wanted to go. *Update: I have a strong reputation for detailed, honest, and trustworthy reviews. What we experienced is accurately and honestly captured in this review. There were no misunderstandings, our experience is captured exactly as reviewed. We stopped in on a Wednesday around 1 PM expecting it to be quiet... and instead found the place happily buzzing with families, pilots, airport staff, and pilots. First thing you notice? The people. The servers have clearly been there for years, and it shows. They greet regulars by name, remember orders, and make everyone feel like they belong there. That kind of service is rare these days and it sets the tone right away. The space itself is cozy but surprisingly roomy. There's a classic countertop (which I absolutely love), plenty of seating, and even outdoor tables for those beautiful Arizona days when you want sunshine and a side of airplane watching. Being right at the airport adds a fun little bonus -- you can catch planes taking off while you eat. Now let's talk about the food -- because wow. The menu is classic American comfort with a Mediterranean twist, and everything tastes fresh, made-to-order, and high quality. I ordered the mushroom burger, which was perfectly cooked and loaded with flavor. One of my sons went classic with a hamburger topped with bacon -- simple, juicy, and exactly what a great burger should be. My other son ordered the chicken shawarma sandwich, and that one might have stolen the show. Tender, flavorful chicken wrapped up and -- great touch -- stuffed with fries inside. He absolutely loved it. The portions were generous, the prices were very reasonable, and every bite tasted like it was made with care. It's the kind of place where the food is excellent, the service is even better, and the atmosphere just makes you want to linger a little longer. Great food. Friendly people. Cozy vibe. Airplanes taking off in the background. Honestly? Amazing. If you're near Chandler Airport, this spot is absolutely worth the stop.

Michael and Callen Meola read that missing chapter, sighed deeply, and just built the place themselves. Villa Meola is a coffee shop that feels less like a transaction and more like being waved inside someone's actual home, because that is essentially what it is. They named the spot after the nickname for their own house, and you can tell. The kids drink menu (yes, a real one, with a "Kiddy Winnie the Pooh" that my child now demands by name) means small humans get treated like guests instead of obstacles. Big humans get traditional Italian espresso pulled on a manual lever Astoria machine, which sounds like a flex because it is, there are roughly seven of these in the entire state and the result is a crema so silky it should be illegal before 10am. A few things to know going in: * Order the Cannoli or the Caprese latte. They make their syrups and milks in house and you can taste it. * Get gelato from Gelato Cimmino next door, same room. Mario Cimmino is the real deal, and the affogato situation here is the most efficient delivery system for joy in the East Valley. * Focaccia pizza is sneakily excellent. Treat it as lunch, not a snack. * Bring the kids. They will not be the loudest sound in the room and nobody will side-eye you. This is the entire point of the place. The Meolas built the coffee shop they could not find. Lucky for the rest of Gilbert, they left the door open
