Met my daughter and SIL for breakfast on a Wednesday morning. No problem with seating. The waitress was super friendly. We ordered the: Meat Lovers Omelet - humongous portion, it had good flavor, but thought it was a little over cooked Loaded Biscuits and Gravy - not a very big portion in comparison to the other dishes Ham and eggs - very good, ham was tasty and not too salty and eggs were cooked to a perfect medium Avocado Benedict - humungous portion, the hollandaise sauce was good You could get the potatoes with peppers and onions, which neither of us got. My eggs were done perfectly and had a wonderful taste. The pancakes had good taste but were a bit chewy. If the pancakes were just that bit better it would've been a showstopper breakfast. A local breakfast and lunch diner that offers simple but delicious entrees. Hoosier is a colloquial term that most people who have roots in Indiana are familiar with. Myself, well I have no idea. The pancakes are delicious, breakfast sandwiches are great as well, in the biscuits and gravy have great flavor. My only complaint is that the ranch potatoes are a bit soft, I wish they were a little bit more crispy, but that's just my personal preference. Portions are quite large, tastes great and priced fairly. I choose Hoosier over Biscuits café any day of the week ! Although Biscuits café does offer Sweet potato pancakes that are just delish. The service at Hoosier is outstanding. Never once did I have to ask for our water refill or coffee refill, the waitress was very attentive and alert! She also helped me substitute side of meat for potatoes at no additional charge. There's a strange shaped booth in Corner that fits 3 people sort of. If you could imagine a regular booth that fits around four people comfortably, this particular Booth is blocked off so only three can fit. It's just something that I found interesting. Only reason why I didn't give a full 5 stars, what is due to the window exposure to the Sun during summer hours. Sitting next to the sun it was kind of hot and I was sweating. They see is okay here around a year, but during the summer hours it can get kind of hot. Again this is just me, for most people I might not affect them at all, but I wish that they had some type of sun shades or curtains to block out the bright rays of sun coming in through the windows. Went in at 1:30 when they closed at 2, they still sat us down with menus and gave us enough time to look through the menu. We came here for breakfast at the recommendation from our daughter, who has come here a few times, since they live nearby. Now I have to confess that I have always enjoyed grits ever since my first time eating them. I know what you are asking why does an Arizona born guy like grits? This is just me, what can I say. I was going to order the grits but, our very nice server told me their grits comes in a big bowl. This being said, and our first time here I decided to go for the Corn Mush, at the recommendation of my son in law, and I had never had the Corn Mush.Their Corn Mush is like a fried cornbread. It comes with three big slices of bacon, and a small cup of syrup, and butter to spread on the Corn Mush. As you can tell this is a Midwestern dish. I also ordered two eggs, and they were cooked just like right. This restaurant is not fancy, with windows all the way around but, there is a huge following of regulars that come here. You could tell that by the immediate conversations as soon as they enter the place. Their decor is all Indiana hence the name Hoosier Cafe, and everything Indiana. All Midwestern to say the least. A very hospitable place to come and have breakfast. Now I can't vouch for their brunch, since this was my first time here, and came here only for breakfast. I enjoyed my breakfast but, when we return I surely will try other items on the menu. Just remember that this place is only open for breakfast, and brunch. I like this restaurant. The food is consistent. I don't typically write reviews. But this mornings experience calls for it. My wife wanted to talk to the manager and that did not work out. Our waitress (tattoos and maybe in her 40s) brought us our food. After getting our food, we tried to get her attention for 15 min. She was not rude, but also not pleasant. She was on her phone and didn't look up to even glance at us or the other customers. By the time she came up for air and put her phone away, our food was cold. I know that we were not the only customers that were in need. It was just after 9a , so the restaurant was open for awhile. This place is such a good spot. Stopped in for breakfast after an appointment and boy was it good. I got the pancake egg combo and it was delicious. Lisa was a phenomenal server, she was funny, friendly, and super accommodating. The pancakes we massive and perfect diner-fluffy-buttermilk deliciousness, I'd rate them a 9.5/10. I called Hoosier Cafe for breakfast after I waited 15 minutes on the phone at another restaurant and then was hung up on and called back and they said it would still be more time on the phone. Rather than wait another 15 minutes and be hung up on again, I decided to call Hoosier Cafe. I've had their food before and it's great they're just a little bit farther away from me. But I think this is going to be my new go-to for close breakfast. The woman who answered the phone was incredibly polite and generous with recommendations. While they were a busy restaurant on a Saturday morning, she immediately took my order and they were able to have my food ready within 10 to 15 minutes for pickup. Thank you Hoosier cafe! Ate here today with my Mom, who is visiting. The ambiance, menu, and service is classic Midwest diner. We both ordered the "famous" pork tenderloin sandwich and felt ambushed when they brought them out. The tenderloin is a 12 inch disk sitting atop a dinky 3 inch bun. It's not even clear how you're supposed to eat it. I wound up cutting and stacking about half of it on the bun, but the meat slipped out of the breading and kept squirting out of the sandwich whenever I took a bite. It was not a good eating experience, even though it tasted good. To be fair, the meat is supposed to overhang the bun on this type of sandwich but this was ridiculous. They really should warn people what they're going to get when they order. Had I known I'd have ordered something else and probably would have written a better review. read more
