We came here late one night to watch the second half of a mid-season Monday Night Football game and relax after a night of work. I am not necessarily a Hooters kind of guy and I knew what I was getting into, so this review is not about Hooters as a thing. Everything was as you might expect until the game was over - cheapish drinks, waitresses wearing their outfits, etc. There was a family with kids there when we showed up which was weird but that's okay i guess. A few minutes after the last play of the game, the waitresses gave their tacky "last call" cheer, so we ordered one last round of drinks from our waitress, assuming we had maybe 30 minutes before we'd have to leave. She returned about a minute later saying "Sorry, they already called last call, so the bar is closed." Really Mr. Hooter? I've been out late at bars probably a thousand times in my life. Maybe more. Last call is a sacred bond between client and barkeep. I've seen places that serve customers that one final beer and then rush everyone out the door, but I've never been to a place that will announce last call and then say the bar is already closed. If they wanted to close the bar when the game was over, they should have given us some warning. I should explain that we travel for a living and work at night, so midnight is like our 6 PM. It's nice to be able to find a place near our hotel that will stay open past midnight and let us relax. We figured Hooters would be the place in Albany, but it clearly wasn't. read more

Ok this review is only getting 5 stars because the waitress we had was amazing - Jahnece. Ask for her if you visit this restaurant!!! The reason she is a 5 star waitress was because we tried to order 5 items off the menu and we were told sorry the menu hasn't been fully updated or they ran out of dishes. We almost walked out but as a great waitress Jahnece recommended some other foods. We were very pleased with the food and service. On a side note the manager Ricky- well where to start, I asked our waitress to get the manager for us. When Ricky came over we wanted to yell him what a great job his staff was doing and also to let him know that his menu is outdated and other issues we had. 5 items on the menu were either no longer available or they ran out. Instead of listening to how she sold us on food he was making up excuses and trying to over talk us. Which honestly I could not imagine trying to work for someone who doesn't show good management skills- he obviously needs training in leadership and listening skills. I also mentioned to him how Jahnece was so attentive with making sure our drinks were always full. Again instead of accepting this compliment for his waitress he had to inform us that that was because at his startup meeting today he said it was something he instilled in his staff and she is new so he was worried he was getting a complaint. I proceeded to again remind him what a awesome staff member he has in Jahnece and that he really not point out how she is new since she handled things with us as a well seasoned waitress. Ricky thank you for the free gift card and bags of goodies- but honestly just thank your staff especially your newest waitress would have been all necessary. And as a lesson don't always think just because she is new it will be a complaint!!! This is a great lunch or after work spot if you're a dude looking to kill some time. The staff is friendly, the food is adequate and vibe is one of good times and relaxation. Obviously, Hooters is best served if you come as a group or with a friend(s) but this review looks to praise the place as a great solo adventure. For a long period of time I was working from home in a fortress of solitude. Telecommuting isn't all it's cracked up to be. There's no one to talk to and your only form of interaction with other humans comes in an e-mail or an occasional conference call. After a while, your house can feel like a prison as you work in your PJs. I know I know, I believe the kids these days call that #richpeopleproblems. For lunch I would travel around to different pubs and restaurants as a way to escape the isolation of my home office. The thing about this Hooters location that's different however, than almost any other place I visited for lunch was the atmosphere. It's just a fun place to hang out. It's not uncommon for you to sit down and strike up a conversation with a complete stranger. In fact, this was a regular occurrence for me. I would eat my lunch, sip on a beer and chat with some of the other patrons. I'm not sure what triggers the interaction or what makes it such a fun place but my guess is that it's probably the girls. The bartenders and wait staff here take an interest in the people stopping in and go the extra mile to start a conversation or crack a silly joke. It almost doesn't seem like this a job to them (though, they do work hard) because they interact with the guys sitting at the bar like they would an old friend stopping over to their house. I think this creates a relaxed sort of free atmosphere which, results in this being such a fun place to hangout for your lunch or happy hour. I also have to mention that this location is incredibly well managed, a large omnipresent "bouncer looking type dude" hangs out behind the bar greasing the wheels to make sure food/ drink arrives where it's supposed to or jump into action to fix a problem. Though he might look like a bouncer the manger is incredibly friendly and equally as interested in ensuring that customers are satisfied. I will say though, that a man of his size is also a great deterrent to anyone interested in disrespecting one of his female employees. "What about the food?" You ask. What about it? Its Hooters not "Le Hootiers French Bistro" (we're famous for our crepes)! I recommend sticking to wings, simple sandwiches or burgers with curly fries. I've never ordered anything outside of that group and if you never do, you won't be too disappointed. This is not some culinary mecca disguised in sheep's clothing (or Orange short shorts and a white tank top), you know what it is and it is what it is. All of that said, the management here is great and as such the food generally arrives hot and tasting as well as it can. BOTTOM LINE: This is a great place to come hangout for a bite and a drink with some likeminded strangers. The girls are cool, the food is 'OK' but the vibe is awesome. So if you are bored one of these days and you can't drag a friend out, don't be afraid to belly up to the bar and make some new ones. read more

First time ever coming to a Hooters restaurant and I was pleasantly surprised as to how good all the food was. I went with a big group (20+) and it was Monday night so if course football was on. I took a risk and ordered the crab legs as an appetizer. I was quite nervous seeing as how its more of a sports bar but I took the chance. It was better than I expected! Well seasoned and I got a good portion so I was happy! I bbq also ordered the bacon wrapped wings in sauce. Sorry don't remember the name of the sauce but it was just the right amount of sweet and spicy. I took another risk amd ordered a fruity concoction as a drink. Another pleasant surprise it was delicious! Overall I recommend this Hooters. I have sampled alot of food items and I must say the food is well prepared. Somehow my friend and I decided to go to Hooters for some sharable appetizers. I don't know what came over me because my last memory about Hooters was when a guy I had been dating for only two weeks thought that giving me an extra small Hooters t-shirt was an appropriate birthday present and he actually expected me to love it and wear it. Needless to say the romance was short lived despite remembering eating a bucket of delicious roasted oysters with the perv/ex. Fast forward to today. The bucket of roasted oysters is no longer on the menu and has been replaced with cold, fresh, briny raw oysters on the half shell. I don't know if the bucket of roasted oysters was ever on this Hooters menu since I had them in a different area of the country and many years ago. But the raw oysters we ate today were so fresh and delicious served with lemon wedges, cocktail sauce and hot sauce. No fancy toppings but they were excellent. Next we ordered their original wings with hot Buffalo sauce. The heat level was perfect. It had a nice bite and tang but wasn't mind-blowing. As a reference point, they have two heat levels hotter then hot. Also, these are breaded wings. I'm usually not a fan but somehow they have figured out the perfect breading to sauce ratio which should satisfy even naked wing purists. The final appetizer was their chili cheese fries. I love these any way I can get them. I've only once had bad chili cheese fries and they were from a chain poutine place. Hooters version is standard which means oh so bad for you but oh so delicious. At first we thought we might feel uncomfortable being two women going to Hooters. It wasn't. The crowd was what you'd expect plus a few families with children and couples. I am giving 5 star because the manager was awesome tonight and the server Ally that we had. But we had a bad night there we waited almost 40 minutes for our food and being able to see the cooks that looked like they didn't know what they were doing. When I got my food it was wrong and the grilled chicken we got was cold also. We found out from the manager (wish I had his name) that they were short handed from some call outs. But what was ultimately the turning point of the night was the discount we got on our meal and that he went to the back and helped the cooks out he didn't just go and yell or speak to them. That is the definition of a manager to correct the situation to make the customers happy. I would have been disappointed if he had done nothing but tell them they suck in not so many words. My daughter and I went to Hooters tonight. They sat us to the side where it was a quiet. The waitress came right over to offer us a balloon. When I order chicken wings I like them crispy. A lot of people may think it's weird when a husband and wife or even a family go to hooters but it really is a fun environment for everyone. Thursday night, around 5pm Place wasn't dead, but not crowded either. We were immediately seated and "our hooters girl" was very attentive throughout, kept our drinks full and checked in regularly. Ordered the loaded tots appetizer. It was good, not great. Reasonably crispy tots covered in nacho cheese sauce, bacon, and sour cream with chives. Came out piping hot, not the ever so common lukewarm with chain restaurants. Hearing bad things about the regular wings, thought I'd try the boneless. Still hardly a value, $9 for essentially a 10pc McNuggets with sauce. Most pieces were bite-size or smaller. I didn't care for their teriyaki sauce at all, too sweet and had a strange taste to it. Ordered the fried chicken sandwich with the spicy garlic sauce. One tiny side of (coleslaw or beans). Sandwich was again good but nothing memorable. Skipped dessert. The menu for this place is surprisingly small for a chain resto. Places like Chilis or Fridays have huge selections of sandwiches, steaks, salads, ect. Hooters has your typical bar food appetizers, wings, maybe 5 kinds of sandwiches, oysters, burgers, and that's about it. The whole menu is on an oversized brochure. As for the place, it's in the former Fuddruckers building except what used to be the topping bar is now the actual bar. Music was loud, but not to the point of needing to shout. This place gives Buffalo wild wings a run for cramming the most TVs possible into a given space. Here's the weird part. This fat guy I took to be the manager. He was waddling around the whole time, looking pissed off and scowling at everyone. There are the hooters balloons the girls write messages on ties to most of the tables. Manager guy grabs a few and squeezes them until they pop with a bang that makes everyone in the place look over. Then he does it again, and again, randomly grabbing balloons and popping them. Then a group of patrons comes in, who are maybe regulars or something, since they attract like 5 girls immediately. They're chatting and shireking with laughter, which immediately gets pissed-off manager over there to yell at them to essentially get back to work and "apologized" to the patrons. I would totally give this place zero stars if I could!!! The food is wonderful and we have never had an issue here before and we are weekly regulars. We were sat near the bar which isn't a big deal to us. But a group of people at the bar decided to drop the f bomb at least 20 times In front of my 7 year old son. The manger was told by the waitress and he looked right at us and walked the other way. We didn't even finish our food that had just been brought to is. Most of it wasn't even brought home. I am really happy that hooters decided to come back in to our area. With that being said I am not one of those people that need to have their wings. Sure they are good and the breading is the best I've ever had but i would much rather prefer to get their buffalo chicken sandwich. I had one today and I tasted the same as when i had it in their crossgates location back in the day. Fries are always good here too, even though they are extra. Food wasn't good at all. I've been to hooters in Florida and it was great. I got the tenders and only ate one of them. Small and super dry. My friend got the boneless wings and didn't like them either. Our server was Cassie. She was super nice. Probably one of the most pleasant waitresses I've ever had at any restaurant. I don't usually write reviews but i feel i should mention to everyone. I dined here last week during one of our great snowstorms. While the restaurant was pretty empty. the kitchen was being slow. I guess because they were shorthanded. Which is understandable, things happen. What is not except able to me is to overhear the table next to us complain about the waitress not being attentive and rude, This was absurd as our waitress, Alicia, was more than attentive. Maybe if the table was not a bunch of disgusting men and saying vulgar comments aloud for everyone to hear, she would of stayed at their table longer. Even with all the comments they were saying she still went over to get on them and had a smile on her face. I know that that could not of been easy. I write this hoping management sees this and does not punish her for a complaint made by a few men that give a bad rap for all us all. It's a Hooters! Haven't you been to one yet? So it's consistent bar food/munchies across the USA. Not awesome just consistent. Although I suppose it is possible for a given location to screw it up. Everything at the Albany/Colonie Hooters is what you expect. I should give them an extra star (but I won't) for a VERY cold beer. It's nice to get a real cold beer! The girls are Hooters girls and I guess I'm old enough that they just see me as an old fart of no particular interest. Nothing like getting the guys together and driving up to NY to see some hooters......and eat some wings. There isn't one too local to us and since we had to go to NY for another occasion we decided to stop in at the end of our drive. Haven't been to Hooters in years, but it was pretty much what we all expected. The wings were really good and everyone left with leftovers and full stomachs. The wait staff was super friendly and even sang happy birthday for one of our buddies whose birthday is later in the week. It was definitely worth going here; especially after waiting so long to eat because the ride was about 3 hours. Everyone had a good time and this place really is perfect to hang with your buddies and have some fun and laughs. If I remember correctly the left over wings were just as good when I finished them up at about 1 in the morning. Lets just say my friends said it looked like I was enjoying them very much. It's definitely a good place to stop if your are looking to catch up with friends and watch a sports game, but honestly if you come here on a day where there isn't a deal it can kind of get expensive. I split an order of 50 wings, and a side fry with my buddy and also ordered a Captain and coke. My meal alone came to almost $40 which to me seems little bit steep. It's without a doubt worth it if you come when they are doing the all you can eat wing deal, but over it seems to have gotten a little to expensive for the food you are getting. Not really any complaints here because we all had fun and might be back if we are in the area again. You pretty much get what you expect here, and if you know what to expect you'll leave here happy with your choice. You can't really go wrong with hooters and wings. read more
