UPDATE (July 2026): I believe it's only fair to update this review. After my original review, I was called by Andrew, the General Manager. He apologized for our experience and invited us to give Hooters another chance. I have never had a business reach out by phone to personally apologize. This went a long way with me. We did give them another try. I'm happy to report that our second visit was the complete opposite of the first. Our server, Tiffany, greeted us immediately and actually offered drinks before we were even seated. Service throughout the meal was prompt, friendly, and attentive without being intrusive. Our food arrived quickly, hot, and exactly as ordered. More importantly, this didn't feel like management simply "putting on a show" because they knew we were coming (they didn't). It felt like a restaurant that had genuinely corrected the problem I described in my original review. Andrew also offered to comp our meal as a goodwill gesture if we were to come back. While I appreciated the offer, I declined because I wanted to evaluate the restaurant as a regular paying customer. We paid for our meal ourselves, and because Tiffany provided exceptional service, we left her a $50 tip. I stand by my original review because it accurately reflected what happened that evening. However, I also believe businesses deserve credit when they acknowledge a problem, take responsibility, and fix it. Based on this visit, Hooters at The Legends appears to have done exactly that. I haven't been to a Hooters since early 2000. My wife has never been. We were in the area and decided to stop in. Well, maybe we should have gone to one of the other places nearby. Kierstin was our server, another than the wings, she was the highlight of the evening. Monday is but 10 wings, get 10 boneless wings for free. Kierstin helped with wing and sauce selection. Additionally I ordered a burger, requesting it medium, with bacon. tomato and onion. The burger was closer to well done and along with being dry, it was missing the tomato. When Kierstin checked back, I pointed this out. After several minutes she returned with a plate with 5 slices of tomato. I remarked that one would suffice. Of course that tomato slice did little to enhance the taste of a dry beef patty. As I said, the wings were good, but not good enough to bring us back. read more

I give them two stars for the atmosphere and because the girls are trying. -3 stars for the management and the up charges. Now for the negative. I hope that they take this as constructive feedback and try to change. 1st complaint: I visited while KU was played St. John during march madness. They did not have the audio playing over the speakers. I kindly asked the bartender if it was possible to put the audio over the speakers since there were multiple people watching the game. She went back to the manager sitting in his office. She came back and said no. We requested to speak to the manager to ask why. He came out and said "the restaurant needs to be at 80% capacity per owner before they change the audio to a game". I said any other bar around here has the audio. He walked back to his office. So I have a few responses to this. You will never be at 80% capacity if you don't meet the customers demands. People want a place to watch major sporting events, KU, UFC, Chiefs. If you can't meet this demand, they will go somewhere else. And looking at the capacity, they are going somewhere else. In the 2nd half of the game with 15 minutes left, he finally turned the audio on. My speculation is he texted the owner and got permission. By the time the game was over, there was a shift change and a young manager named Austin took over. He was completely clueless at the end of the game and hung out in his office. 60 minutes came on about the Iran war. I sat there for a long time watching to see how long an employee would notice and say something. Finally I flagged a waitress down and mentioned that no one wants to hear 60 minutes. She giggled and talked to the clueless manager. Last comment on this, the chiefs stadium is moving in Nextdoor. Don't you think people will want to watch the game? Keep up with changes. Come on man! 2nd complaint: The up charges. At any other restaurant nearby, when you order an entree you get fries or tots or a side of ranch for free! Not at hooters. Also, when you decide to pay the up charge for a side of tots because you don't want the free side of beans, you get a portion large enough to feed a family of 10. Your plate is overflowing with so many tots that you either have to eat some or ask for a side plate to put some on before you touch your sandwich because they are overflowing. We stopped here, one night on our vacation because it was close to our hotel. They weren't very busy, but the hostess/server mention they were shortstaffed. She seated us immediately and was super friendly. She gave us time to order and grabbed our drinks immediately. Overall, I thought we had a great experience. Absolutely the worst experience at a dining establishment that I've had. Literally waited an hour for food, chicken wings at that and then when it came out only half the table was served along with a table that came well after we had been waiting. The restaurant wasn't even full at the time and the excuse was the kitchen is backed up because they only have two cooks. What was most unacceptable was the lack of communication. Time is money and the food wasn't worth it to begin with. Okay I'm done!! Sitting here fuming at this point and on top of the poor service all around the place is dirty and there are ants crawling on the wall of our booth, where the sidewalls of the table look like they have dirt and years of grime built up. My husband was craving a burger so we stopped by. They were short handed and we were told it would take about 40 minutes to get our order. No problem with that and we were grateful for the heads up. When we arrived the restaurant was about 1/3 full, we were the only ones at the door/up front waiting to be seated and stood there for about 5 minutes before being acknowledged at all. We were about to leave, but then one of the servers asked if we had been helped yet, and then led us to a table. Our waitress was very nice. But our food took over half an hour and when we got it, the food was luke warm and my boneless wings hardly had any sauce on them, it looked like someone took maybe a spoonful of sauce and drizzled a thin line over the top of them. The fries felt like they had been sitting out for quite some time. I've worked in food almost all of my life- so they REALLY missed the mark in so many ways. Should've taken the 2* review score more seriously when I saw it pop up under my gps search. Many things I love about this chain, but for sake of Yelp I'll mention consistency. No matter where in the country you are, you can expect the same great service, consistent tasting food, and plenty of drinkables to wet you whistle. This occasion was the aftershock of visiting the nearby racetrack, the night before. Every now and then, you need a high calorie, high carb, greasy plate to soak up the night before, this was it. We sat at the bar on Saturday night and immediately the bartender is complaining about other customers (she did this all night, was mopey, and grouchy). She gets our drinks and 2 different waitresses reach between my husband and I to pick up their drinks (instead of at the drink station) because they said it's "too far away". We ordered food (sliders and tots), his sliders came out 5 minutes before my tots, his sliders are burnt, my tots were cold and thrown together. I asked for silverware and she gave me 1 single fork and slid it into my tots (not wrapped, no napkins, nothing). The Hooters in Kansas City Kansas by the Speedway is not in the customer service business, they are in the " I can't believe customers are here business"! They were slight under half the size we got before which I think we two weeks ago maybe. For the same price I believe 8.99 !! I am being totally ripped off today. This restaurant, which is perfectly located near the raceway, Community America ballpark and Legends, isn't one of the stronger ones. Each visit has meant a forgotten appetizer or a wrong dish or drink order. At least there's a good amount of tvs and sports to keep me occupied. We ordered iced tea to drink, with lemon and asked for artificial sweetener. We got the tea and had to ask again for the lemon and sweetener. It never came. Ok, I had been to Hooters once before several years ago on my birthday with my wife and I got pretty buzzed and didn't really remember how everything went, I just knew we had fun. So..yesterday my wife and I went to Hooters and I'll tell you why: Spectrum and Disney are both A Holes. They are having some dispute of prices and now I can't watch ESPN, The Disney Channel and about 15 other channels that I am paying for. I was fortunate that the KU and the Colorado game were on other channels so I got to watch them, however, The US Open Women's Finals was about to come on and I had no ESPN. I decided to call around and see if any restaurants or bars were going to have tennis on as well as football but nobody was doing that. So my wife and I happened upon Hooters while we were in the Legends and decided to try them. Well....we entered and everyone was friendly and I asked if my wife and I could watch tennis on one of the TVs and they said we surely could. We had a table on the patio with two TVs and the server put tennis on the big TV and asked if we needed anything. My wife and I ordered wings and fries along with wine and beer. The server was outstanding. She was who actually put tennis on the TV for us. Our order came quickly and she was very attentive. She asked if we needed anything several times but not in a bugging you to death manner. She paid attention to our needs and made this a very enjoyable experience. I honestly don't what has happened to Hooters. I want to believe in them but I think BWW has just changed the game. I went for the classic platter and to my surprise the wings come out like the size of a small kids meal and McDonald's. The franchise overall is inconsistent. I think Hawaii and Florida are the best locations to get your wings fixing. And note to anyone eating at any hooters do no drink the tap water they serve you only drink soda or alcoholic beverage.
