Hubby and I like eating at hooters when we head to MB. The food is always great, and the service is usually friendly, courteous, quick, and hospitable. This trip, however, was not that great. We sat where we wanted, and saw a bartender and maybe two other waitresses. It was later in the afternoon, not a Very busy time, but we were hungry and knew the food here would be good! Flora was our first waitress, and it took quite a few minutes for her to come to our table. She acted as if we were bothering her. She wrote her name on a napkin, asked what we wanted to drink, and walked away. We got our drinks, and asked for just a few more minutes to get our food order ready. It was quite a while before she came back. As I said, they were not very busy, and we didn't see her anywhere, so who knows. At any rate, she did come back and got our food order. After a long while, a food runner brought part of our food. We had not gotten any drink refills, which were sweet tea and water, and now we only had part of our food order. We did finally get all of our food, along with drink refills. Flora was just not friendly. She poured our drinks, brought our other food, and walked away. We ate, still only seeing a few waitresses milling around, a few more bar customers, and maybe two more tables of customers. After most of our food was gone, I saw Flora and another waitress behind the hostess stand. Flora had been back there for several minutes. She didn't seem to be doing anything, just standing back there. After another several minutes, a different waitress came to us. Her name was Maddie and she informed us she would be our waitress now. She offered to refill our drinks, asked how the food was, could she bring us anything else, and that she would be right back with our drink refills. She spoke more to us in that brief two minutes than Flora had in the over 45 minutes we had been in there. So, since we were getting a new waitress, I assumed it was the end of Flora's shift. I understand she was probably tired from being at work for several hours...I understand she was ready to get out of there. But our service and our comfort was no less important at the end of her shift than the customers she had at the beginning of her shift. I am making few assumptions here...perhaps she wasn't ending a shift, and maybe she was just having a bad day. I am sorry for whatever the reason was that we got the level of unhappiness from Flora that we got. There were 4 of us, ordered Drinks wings, Buffalo shrimp and onion rings. The onion rings came out, only 8 small onion rings. when we asked why they didn't look like the picture we were told they make them by weight. the Shrimp and food came up and sat at the service window for 10 minutes when our Server came up and we had to ask if that was our order. she brought it over and it was all cold. We ate less than half of our food and complained, we were told they would give us a Military discount, that's nice since i'm retired Coast Guard. they finally ONLY took $20 off our $120 order. we had a heated discussion with the Manager. i can see why there is such a low rating at this location. We come for wings because no one makes them same way and ours in town closed this year. We ordered but our waitress seemed off like she didn't wanna be there.. she was nice to us and took care of us and got our order as soon as it was ready. Wings were hot and delicious! So I got seated at a high top looking direction in the kitchen. First the place had no customers around lunch time. It still took 10+ minutes for a server to introduce herself. The bartender said hi multiple times. Then I order a build my own burger. Simple double patty with lettuce, pickle & cheese. Got the onion rings instead of fries. As I'm watching my food being made a see 2 cooks. Older woman & older gentleman. They have gloves on but they are touching everything in the kitchen never changing their gloves including while playing on the phone. Then I see him cooking my burger. He was pressing it so much when I received it, it was nothing but 2 pattys of dried jerky. I got about 4 onion rings mixed with old fries. Nothing had seasoning. I wasn't expecting much. But I was expecting better than McDonald's. I see why hooters is going bankrupt. Told my server. She just had a blank look & said i dont know to everything I asked. I come out to wilmington every four of July to stay with my best friend and his family. Always make a trip out to bass pro shop then hooters for lunch. Kait was our server and was absolutely a gem! We had lunch here today. We were in the mood for a burger and some wings and noticed the parking lot was not packed so we chose here despite the low reviews . Our experience was awesome . We had the sweetest waitress names Torie. We loved her and she took such good care of us ! Our food came hot and fast . We had a variety of burgers , wings , and fries . Everything was absolutely perfect . Our kids had grilled chicken tenders and boneless wings with fries and they ate every bite . It was our youngest son's birthday and they even sang for him. Went on Tuesday april 6 2021 We got seated at 6 pm it was pretty slow at that time. Long story short our drinks came slow the server acted as if it was her first day and the food was terrible. We waited over an hour for our entrees to arrive only to discover our side salads came at the same time. When I asked about receiving my food at the same time as my salad the waitress told us that's how they do it there. I replied well that makes no since at all. I ended up eating the ice cold wings because I was really hungry my wife didn't eat her food. Also from our seat we could see into the kitchen where the cooks were constantly cross contaminating and also touching there faces without ever washing there hands. To make matters worse you could also see that the wall tiles in the kitchen were coming apart. My wife, myself, and good friend decided to stop at Hooters this evening. I am 65 years old, a local, and have never been to your fine restaurant! Not ever being in a Hooters before, we had several questions about the different wings, and she was an expert at knowing the menu and what the different wings and sauces were! We ordered, and our food was out in a timely manner. Delicious! I mean the wings were awesome. Being a wing conisour, I thought they were spot on! Hooters has been a haven for these fans, as they have been opening early and showing the games plus the audio. (normally Hooters has music playing.)
