This is one of the few restaurants in Manhattan Chinatown that provides a banquet type meal in association with the numerous Funeral Homes in the neighborhood. In Chinese tradition, a full meal is provided after Visitation and after the Service. Banquet tables for ten can be arranged on short notice. Service is fast and the food is tasty.

4 Stars - Good We went here on our trip in NYC (8/28). Overall, we had a good experience. The food was good, not the best, but I am pretty picky with Chinese food. One thing that stood out was that the food was especially hot. The restaurant was clean. The staff were nice and attentive to our needs. It was busy on the night that we went, so they are doing something right!

Food was excellent tonight, a far cry from my last review a few years ago. I do takeout here a lot and food is very good as well.

Enjoyed my Lunch Special Shrimp w/cashews. June 2025. Came w/Soup. didn't care for the "vegetable soup".

I'll do another review after I come back to have the lobster . IMPORTANT: NO CREDIT CARDS. CASH ONLY. CASH ONLY. There are some nearby banks. Walk around the corner to get cash!! Today-June 25, 2025 Enjoyed my Lunch Special Shrimp w/cashews. June 2025. Came w/Soup. I didn't care for the "vegetable soup", b/c it tasted like the water used to boil bok choy. I'd pass on that. But I will come back to try lobster . Today was 96 degrees, and in HOT WEATHER, my appetite is less. I really wanted to enjoy the lobster today, because the photos look great. I am looking forward to returning to try the yummy looking lobster dishes--I have only seen the photos and they look very good. So, I must come back. REMEMBER-CASH ONLY !! NO CREDIT CARDS.

Luncheon menu prices recently went up to $10. Dishes are still the same; very tasty. Portions are still smaller than the past years. Thought the lunches would be bigger with the price increase. There are other restaurants with better lunches but I will still be coming for my favorites.

Solid Chinese food and definitely hits the spot when craving some authentic Cantonese cuisine. I've been to Hop Lee once to dine in for a banquet style meal and also got some takeout entrees on another occasion and the food here is pretty much on par with the average Cantonese-style restaurants around - probably even a bit better. I've had a chance to try dishes like their Fish Filet with Tofu, Yi Mein (Longevity Noodles) with Mushrooms, Beef Cubes with String Beans, Sauteed Lobster with Ginger and Fried Oysters and I can't really say a bad thing about any of it. All of it was truly good and the way they SHOULD taste based on my experiences eating them from other restaurants. The food was fresh, flavorful and delicious. With this said, I will say that the Beef Cubes with String Beans REALLLLLY stood out though because the beef was soooooo tender. It was some of the most tender beef cubes I've ever had in my life, so major kudos to the chef in the back who worked his magic on that. On the occasion that I dined in, the food came out quite fast and furious, but, once again, everything was super fresh and on the spot. No complaints at all. On a block dominated by Wo Hop and Ping's, it's hard to really compete against those powerhouses, BUT, if you can't find a seat at either of those other restaurants, Hop Lee is no slouch.

Thursday, February 19,2026 11ish party of 2. Warmly greeted for The Chinese New Year and sat immediately with hot tea and soup brought to the table. Saltfish steamed pork patty...smelt good but, it was her order. Snowpea tips sauteed in fresh garlic. Definitely made well because the flavor is enhanced by the Wok Hei. Buddha's delight over crispy pan fried noodles.. a delicious must have if doing vegetarian during Chinese New year. Complimentary oranges at end of meal The staff, service, and food is always amazing.

Great food and service! All the waiters are fluent in English plus plenty of pictures on the wall for you to order from. Great spot for tourist and ABC to experience Cantonese food without the drama.

My mother and I decided to have Christmas lunch at Hop Lee. The restaurant has been a family favorite for a while, and once again, it did not disappoint. The wait staff is always attentive and is always making sure that everything is ok. During our lunch we ordered the Shrimp with Walnut, the Sin Koo Steak Kew, and the Ginger Scallion Chicken. The dishes were very tasty and we left very satisfied. So, if you are ever looking for a restaurant to check out in Chinatown. Please give Hop Lee a chance.

5 stars for service, 5 stars for food. There's no better lunch special in the area! For 7.50, you can get a entre pretty much the size of a dinner entre with rice AND soup. The soup is a very hearty bone broth served first. I ordered the salt and pepper pork chops and my partner ordered general tso's chicken. Everything was well cooked and seasoned and we had enough to even take home.

We tried the duck... it was beyond our expectations! Service was fast and although we didn't have to wait for a table, when we left, we noticed a long line had formed.

Came here for my mom's birthday lunch. We ordered a ton of dishes off their menu but the standouts were definitely the peking duck and their seafood. I especially enjoyed the clams in black bean sauce - balanced flavors and not too salty unlike other spots. Service was on point as well. They were quick and pleasant. Will definitely be back.

I came here to throw down on some seafood and that's exactly what we did. I found out about this place because one of my favorite TikTok foodies posted that she came here when she was visiting from Chicago. It was also my friend's birthday so we figured we'd check it out. If you come with a group of 4 or more, including the birthday person, they eat for free, which is a pretty nice perk. This place lived up to every bit of the hype. We did the $125 option which includes lobster. If you have people in your group who are on the fence about spending the extra money, just remind them it's only about $35 more and that's basically the cost of one lobster anywhere else. Here you're getting unlimited lobster. The food literally just kept coming. At one point we were running out of room on the table. One thing I really appreciated was that the staff noticed and started putting multiple items on the same plates instead of bringing everything out separately. It sounds small but it actually helped a lot and showed they were paying attention. The drinks weren't super strong but they definitely weren't weak either. If you love seafood, come hungry and bring a group. The vibes were great, the service was on point, and we left absolutely stuffed.

The service was impeccable from start to finish. The staff was attentive, friendly, and made the whole experience even better. I would definitely come back and highly recommend this place to others.

The peasant loaf bread was fine and everyone enjoyed it - 6oz lobster roll ($38)--a delicious cold lobster roll with a mayo-based sauce, great flavor, and a soft buttery bun - 20 oysters ($3.75 ea)--all fresh and delicious, primarily East Coast oysters although they occasionally have some West Coast ones. The ambiance feels straight of the golden age, which is an aesthetic I'm certainly a sucker for. Even their robust cocktail menu fits the bill and is one of the prettiest menus I've ever had the joy of perusing. Staff was able to sit us a little bit ahead of our reservation which was also much appreciated. Wait staff was also very helpful and attentive, I don't think I've ever had my water glass so topped off! Starting off with cocktails, this place is a gin bar through and through and you'd be making a mistake if you didn't try one of their many options. I went with the 10,000 words, which you simply just give a spirit of your choice (I picked gin of course) and whether you antes) wanted your drink shaken or stirred and the bartender does the rest, so a bit of a surprise! I wound up with their version of The Last Word which was delightfully citrusy but I was hoping I'd wind up with something a little more adventurous app things considered. My girlfriend got the blackberry G&T, which was not only very pleasing to look at but delicious to boot. For food, we started with splitting some zucchini blossoms and beef cheek bao buns (both come in portions of 3). Both were tasty, but I love a good bao bun and these were so light and pillowy, I could have just went for an order of those for my main course. For the entree I went for the roasted half chicken, perhaps the most unassuming choice on the menu but this was maybe the best roast chicken I've ever had. Prepared perfectly, cooked to perfection, excellent portion size, and the kicker of it all was the stunning gravy that I was tempted to lick my plate for. Chicken is very easy to screw up, and they nailed it on all fronts here. My girlfriend went for the Valerie Signature burger with white cheddar and this thing did not mess around! A very rich patty, cooked to her temperature of choice served alongside some garlic truffle fries that made an American classic feel just a little more elevated. Our experience was delightful and I'd love to comeback here again, especially to check out more of the cocktail menu and soak in more of that golden age aura the place gives.
