Our group of seven came here just before noon on President's day. The building used to be the old IHOP, so parking was not an issue and they did a thorough make over of the building itself- it was spacious, very clean and bright, pleasantly decorated with a modern theme. I ordered the pork chop with grits; the pork chop was delicious and the grits had a great homemade texture and taste. All the portions were generous, so my friends allowed me to have a little taste of what they ordered, and everything was so good. Very good price point too, especially considering the quality and quantity of the food. Service was excellent, warm and friendly. I very highly recommend this place! read more

Close friends from MI visiting back in Feb discovered this restaurant after searching for organic food. I've not heard of it but menu looked good. Got a truly warm welcome from Hope herself. Meals were excellent. Purified water in glass bottles nice starting touch. Organic coffee refilled as needed. Two of us had the lox benedict. Being a foodie, seldom do I get meal that's perfect. I am SO THRILLED to have another brunchy place where the IHOP used to be. Our family is still looking for our go-to restaurant with a wide variety of foods, and Hope's looks promising (except that it isn't open for dinner). Parking is plentiful in the lot as well, so it's easy for a midtown restaurant. The interior is nice and new and looks pretty much like the remodeled IHOP before it closed. Service is amazing, attentive, and friendly (ask for Ben!). They provide bottled water which tastes great - Phoenix water can be hit or miss. I've been here twice in a week so I'm a fan! Highly recommend the monte cristo sandwich (not deep fried and I prefer it that way) and the crepes. Sausage and bacon are really good and the cheese grits are amazing. We love Hope's!! Always great food and service! We came with a large group on Father's Day - the place was packed, but they got us in and seated fairly quickly considering the line! The menu is ginormous (almost too big)! I'd suggest whittling down items on the menu that are fairly similar and expanding the kids menu. Just my .02! Also, Hope's serves Kangen alkaline water to each table. A nice touch! read more

I ordered the Eggs Benedict on an English muffin, with tomato, spinach, salmon (lox) and avocado. It was done perfectly and tasted delicious. I think it is the best Eggs Benedict I have ever had. Previously I ordered steak and eggs which was also very good. The menu here is extensive with lots of choices! The service is very friendly and attentive. It was no problem to get separate checks. My mates ordered the crispy hash browns with their breakfasts which they enjoyed. The crepe sampler was very tempting. I'll order that next time. read more

This establishment has quickly became one of my favorite places for brunch. The owner is very, very nice. As well as the staff. The restaurant is kept very clean. And when they take your order they pay very close attention to detail. They also check on you just enough to be sure your dining experience is going well without being overwhelming or annoying. The food is very good. The cook executes the dishes with precision. My favorite was the chicken and waffles and my wife loved the country fried steak. I ordered a side of fruit and it was sooooo fresh! I came here shortly after they opened, and I was blown away by how friendly everyone was! We were greeted by almost everyone who worked there, and our server was attentive and friendly. They have a large menu with something for everyone - including lots of comfort food! I love how it is not a chain, and the people working there seem to care about their jobs. My only reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is that I found a piece of meat (bacon or ham?) in my eggs, and since I don't eat meat, that was not great. But aside from that, everything was delicious and served with a smile. read more

2.5 stars would be my preferred rating, but I will err on the side of positivity since there was nothing specifically 'wrong' with the experience at Hope's. The service was average, neither good nor bad. Server was amiable and performed all the services usually associated with food service workers. The food itself was ok. Like, probably the most okayest food you could imagine. The gravy on the southern Benedict was a bit watery, but tasted ok. If you are vegan and looking to try the Tofu Scramble, be warned, it is not a traditional tofu scramble. It contains large chunks of spongy tofu. Anyway, the place was clean, ambiance was very 'diner' like. Food was edible and tasted fine. The coffee was good too. Overall, if you're looking for a decent meal that's affordable and palatable for almost anyone (except perhaps for vegans) then this is the place for you. If you're looking for something novel and unique, or are expecting a culinary experience, move on. read more

While in Phoenix, my wife and I were on the hunt for a good breakfast spot. We initially planned to hit up Waffle House, but then I found this place called Hope's while doing a little research. Totally glad we made the switch! The food was awesome, way better than we expected, and our waiter was super attentive. The manager even stopped by to check in on us, which was a nice touch. Great spot for an informal business meetup. Busy spot but not overly noisy or needing to shout through our conversation. Ordered the Nutella crêpes & French toast breakfast. Had to ask for more Nutella since they weren't filled just drizzled. Highlight was actually the bold, not bitter coffee. Where most cafes burn or water down the drip making only the cream or sugar shine -- this Java was great black . . . never reached for the cream or sugar. Bravo! Set in a fresh & sparkling remodeled IHOP, Hope's is a top notch new (open 2 weeks) breakfast/brunch spot with an expansive menu. As a picky foodie, I was blown away by the high quality. Rated exceptional were the house made from scratch chunky corned beef hash; the creamy grits and the side of fresh fried okra. Add the over easy eggs, marble rye toast and bottomless good coffee and I'm totally sold. Tami had the veggie omelette with a side of very fresh fruit and white toast. The owner chatted with us as we learned her history in the restaurant business from Chicago to Texas and now Phoenix. Our server, Sabrinna, as pleasant and attentive as could be, provided excellent service. Though in town for a short stay, we may have to carve out a return visit. read more

Lola Coffee began with humble beginnings going back to 1992 with a cart, then Lux Coffee, and eventually Lola Coffee downtown. Now, there is even a second Lola Coffee location in Arcadia near 40th Street and Indian School. Today, they serve coffee, pastries, and breakfast. The Downtown Phoenix location hours are weekdays from 6:30 AM to 7 PM and weekends from 7 AM to 7 PM. I think I could've used two empanadas as a brunch (they are slightly smaller than I anticipated). The service was nice, they greeted me and drinks came out within 5 minutes. The inside is clean, and has a separate area to lounge.

We've been living in Arizona for 7 years now, and after visiting The Coffee Builders in Phoenix this week, my only question is: Where has this place been all our lives?! This incredible hidden gem is tucked away in the Warehouse District and is a bit out of sight--you'd likely never just stumble across it unless you were explicitly looking for it. But the moment you walk through the doors, you are transported. The architectural design is completely unexpected, modern, and striking--especially the gorgeous, geometric upside-down wooden pyramids stretching across the ceiling. It creates an upscale, unique atmosphere unlike anywhere else. Now for the main event: the drinks and food. I ordered the Orange Blossom Latte and my husband ordered The Slopes. Both drinks were absolutely outstanding. They were rich, velvety, thick, and incredibly creamy with deep, distinct flavor profiles. Best of all, they weren't overly sugary--which is huge for us since we typically prefer our coffee at half-sweetness. To pair with our drinks, we tried the Blueberry Bourbon Maple Pastry. It was phenomenal: flaky on the outside, light and pillowy-creamy on the inside, beautifully balanced, and generously loaded with fresh blueberries. The staff was highly professional, exceptionally welcoming, and deeply knowledgeable about their shop and everything on the menu. From this day forward, The Coffee Builders is officially our #1 favorite coffee shop in AZ. Do yourself a favor, make this a top priority on your bucket list, and treat yourself--you will not be disappointed!
