I have been a Horizon customer since 2010. I have had both positive and not so positive experiences. We know that they are a little bit on the high side, but we like their work and the warrantees as well. I have a 12 year warranty on our furnace. We came home on Monday from vacation and our house was 89°. The 13 year old Trane AC was not working. I called Horizon and they came out the same day. It was discovered that the capacitor had burned up and needed to be replaced. I was told to replace the capacitor 2 years ago, but it was just rusty. The technician did a great job replacing the compactor and the wires. The cost was 371. May be a little high but we like their work. The initial diagnostic revealed that the numbers were bad and that compressor was bad. The technician left the AC in the off position. I was told because of the compressor errors that I needed a new AC system. That was going to be about nine grand. After he left, I switched it back on just to check. I read online that the system may need to reset ...within 30 minutes the house dropped to 72°. I guess I dodged a bullet or got lucky. Maybe the system will run for one day, a month, or a few more years. The system has been running flawlessly for a week I know I take the chance that when it finally dies the cost to replace it may be higher. I called D / T cooling for a second opinion. The cost was $79. They came out the next day tested my system and could not find any errors or problems. The compressor they said was perfect. I informed Horizon and basically was told they go with the first set of numbers and you need a new system. The sales rep did not accept the diagnostics. I even offered them opportunity to come up and check the system again. Since they stood by there results, I thought it would be great if the price that was offered for the new system would be honored for one year from the date of the diagnosis. I even said It would be great if the second opinion cost was refunded. I am happy with the work that was done to the capacitor and the wires. The tech was professional and courteous, even though the comment ..you should've replaced the capacitor 2 years ago annoyed me lol. SW read more

Debated between one and two stars. Not really sure why tho, actually. Maybe because the customer service reps were nice? That- and they must take a lot of crap for the managerial team or whomever is over there making some major money off of them & the technicians - most of whom are not licensed, btw. As many other reviews stated: Horizon will charge for a "maintenance plan", then refuse to provide maintenance services. You also do not get any priority scheduling (as they claim to provide in the service plan documents you sign) as compared to a customer who does not have the plan. Here's the kicker - they will, however, note on your account IF you are someone who gets "vip" treatment: ie: not having your maintenance appointment "rescheduled" the day of for three months later. If they realize you are someone or have it brought to their attention that someone they deem "important" enough is aware of this BS - they will most certainly attempt to take care of you. That is so incredibly wrong. Such a scam and I hope the consumer advocate does look into this business practice. I had a certain person to ask for if given any issues, and separate number to call in. They still tried to cancel my appt for the 3rd time - but after the second same day cancel, I had a person I knew they would listen to, give them a call on my behalf. So third appt day is here and scheduler calls, starts to inform me that I need to be rescheduled.... And then stops herself: "oh wait actually hold on" - during which time she must have reviewed the internal DO NOT CANCEL note. I canceled my plan and as expected, I did not receive the requested cancelation confirmation. Shame on this company. And to the good admins there, please find a more ethical company. We purchased a new gas HVAC system from them in 2018. We did our homework first and had several quotes before purchasing from Horizon. The install was quick and clean. Everything was good until I called for our first service. Made the appointment and they canceled the day of, too many emergency calls. OK, let's reschedule, that appointment was canceled the day of. Every service appointment has been canceled the day of and rescheduled. I finally gave up and switched to another provider for my semi-annual tune ups. I now have an issue with the humidifier that should be covered under warranty. Of course my appointment for this morning was canceled, "everyone called out sick, we can schedule you for tomorrow ". We will see..... This is ridiculous! I would give no stars if Yelp would let me. read more

We have been a loyal customer of Horizon for 15 years. We were originally scheduled for routine burner maintenance on Tuesday (appointment #1). However, according to dispatch, there were so many emergencies they couldn't get to us. We had heat and therefore were happy to oblige and set something up for Thursday (#2). No one showed up! Dispatch was called and we were told there was no such appointment on record (major failure on the part of staff). Yet another visit (#3) was arranged for Friday. While the technician was here servicing our burner on Friday, Horizon dispatch sent him elsewhere before completion of his work. (Really? interrupt him in the middle of his work? Bad form). Another technician took over. After service, we were out for the rest of the day. Returned Friday evening to find our house very cold and without heat (60 degrees). We never had a problem problem with our heating system until Horizon came to our house and 'serviced' the burner. We are both very cccold, nearing 80 years of age, my husband has cancer and we were told to wait until the following day between the hours of 2 to 6pm for emergency service! Horizon advertises 24/7 emergency service. Harrumph. Untrue!! Terrible, terrible service. read more

Overpriced, dishonest sales. We are a past customer since we purchased our current unit from Horizon and had the unit serviced by Horizon. We are now in need of a new system. We had a salesman come to our home the other night and quoted an HVAC unit at $27,000! I was at first just thinking with the cost of everything going up, this might be the standard. I did not do any research yet, and that's what Horizon looks for. The salesman offered various discounts and even "threw in" his "family/employee discount" of 35% to "drop the price" to $18,000. He gave this line of, "oh, my family lives in MD, so I can't offer them this deal...so I will pass it on to you! We told him repeatedly that we just wanted a quote and were not ready make a decision that night, but he kept pushing and trying every angle possible. He kept trying to tell us that the offer had a limited time, and he was not sure how long the "discount" will last. He was on his phone and claimed to be texting his boss trying to get a better deal. He also offered an interest rate of range of 9-12% with 15 year financing! We eventually got him out of the house after 2 and a half hours of his sales pitch. We have since found much better quotes and no one gave an outrageous start of $27,000. read more

This is for the customer service. Not for the work done. I have never had any issues for the work they have done on any of my properties. The problem is their customer service. Particularly the billing department. I have a billing issue and when I call they say I'm not allowed to talk to the billing department. I ask why and they no one can. I didn't realize it was a Top Secret operation. All they can do is forward my problem to them and they said it will be about 4 business days. This has been going on since before Xmas. I've called about a dozen times and no one can give me an answer. I guess they are sworn to secrecy. I don't know what else I can do outside of driving to Delaware and hopefully I can talk to someone. If I can give them zero stars I would. read more

in 2022 i used this company to replace my mother's old and failing oil heat/hot water boiler unit. It was a special burner that provides hot water to heat using house radiators and hot water to all the faucets. The completed project was $19,000, but came with a lifetime warranty. Or so I thought. Several service calls were needed to correct the incorrect installation of the new burner. We were very frustrated the the technicians sent were either untrained for our new system or unable to correct the heating issues that my elderly had to endure. Eventually the heating issues were resolved. Then we noticed excessive rust corrosion leaking on the new systems piping. so i call horizon again and spoke to a service manager and reported the leaking of the new systems piping. A tech was dispatched and said our house has a heavy water issue and that is not covered under the horizon warranty. My mom's house has public water and does not have a heavy water issue. Frustrated from horizon's lack of professionalism, I called a local 3rd party plumber and he resolved the issue completely by replacing piping and a new coil. My plumber also found and corrected an incorrect boiler configuration issue at no cost. It cost us $1500 out of our pockets for peace of mind. My plumber said the heavy water excuse used by horizon was not applicable to our repair. Instead here's what was the cause: (dissimilar metals touching) Pipe corrosion between fittings, especially at joints, often stems from crevice corrosion (stagnant fluid in gaps) or galvanic corrosion (dissimilar metals touching), but also chemical/electrical issues, leading to leaks and failures. Common culprits are dissimilar metals (like copper and galvanized steel) interacting with water (electrolyte), accelerating rust. I'll never ever use Horizon for any services...i use yelp, google, etc to research/vet potential home repair professionals prior authorizing home repairs or improvements.....Hope this helps read more

We discovered these people do the work, yes, BUT THEY WAY OVER CHARGE SO MUCH ITs MORE LIKE BEING ROBBED. WE OVER PAID BY 6 TO 7K. NOW YOU COULD SAY THATS OUR FAULT, BUT IM NOT AN HVAC SPECIALIST AND DOESNT HORIZON WANT US TO T R U S T THEM. Their salesman are trained how to cheat you, they are told by the trainer, "...they do not know anything about the prices, you can tell them anything you want..." How do I know that's true? I was in their training class to become a salesmen, I left after learning of their dishonest outrageous price gauging and absolute disrespect for the homeowners- actually training their sales force to lie by so overcharging salesmen can earn upwards AND BEYOND two-hundred thousand A YEAR and more, and the company still is a multi million dollar company. The iPad they use is preprogrammed by corporate with these outragious markups already in place. This awards them the creditability of showing the numbers and telling you these are the costs... It also proves the deceptive gauging (stealing your money based on lies) is on the corporate level. I researched OUR NEW unit, wholesale its 3,500. let's double for retail, 7k. install - let's give them Four Thousand dollars (generous right) & the salesmen gets One thousand dollars for 30 minutes work (that's an excellent commission, do that a few times a week). OK, THAT seems like a lot ($12,000.00 dollars). We foolishly paid 20k - + another thousand for the chimney liner, that should be illegal. He started at 24k and trust me he was so sincere and seemed so trusting. He is a professional Con-man trained by professional thrives, experts at misrepresenting the truth. THERE ARE MANY REPUTABLE EXTREMLY SKILLED TRUSTWORTHY HVAC COMPANIES OUTTHERE, HORIZON IS NOT ONE OF THEM - RUN, DONT WALK AWAY FROM THESE THIEVES!!! As additional proof, my wife spoke to a former installer who now works for the City (Phila) and was at her place of work who said, "...Oh, no do T use Horizon they way over charge..." This happened again while at the post office standing in line, the man in front of my wife was wearing a Horizon very nice collard shirt (Horizon logos on front) talking to the man in front of him. They were talking about heaters, he said, "...no don't call us our prices are so much higher then other companies...". These are exact quotes from Horizon employees. One last thing Beware Horizon Is now buying (aquairing) other HAVAC companies, retraining the employees BUT they keep the original company name, trucks and all the logos so you'll never know it's actually horizon in your house. I have been a customer for 14 years and have a contract with them . They are supposed to service once in the spring and once in the winter. I waited today Dec. 21, 2025 for my winter checkup. They never came or called. I affirmed the appt. yesterday , Dec. 20, 22025. My husband called to see if they were coming and they said no, they were too busy with emergencies. So now they cannot take me until March, 2026 for my winter check up that was supposed to be done in 2025. I now am demanding a refund on my pre paid contract for 2025. They have gotten continuously bad in the past 6n years in their service of customers. Unbelievable that they are managed so poorly. I've used Horizon for years with no complaints. A Horizon rep just left our house after the dispatch office assured us on Monday the "repair to the broken PVC pipe in the attic could be repaired by Horizon". The guy that just left (sorry no name nor will Horizon provide his name) had no equipment, no ladder, no nothing and all but told us when he arrived that he didn't want us a a customer. He had no idea where the water was coming from. He kept blaming the roofer. We had the roofer here on Monday and there are no wet spots anywhere under the shingles. We made the appointment on Monday and agreed the repair would be between 8am and noon today. This tech I'm complaining about was calling us yesterday trying to reschedule to yesterday because it would probably be more convenient for him. I've only once before and that was about "Rite Aid" right before they declared bankruptcy and closed all their stores. BTW I called & complained to 2 Horizon reps and was told a manager would call me shortly. Here we are several hours later and still no call, no apology, no nothing! I will never use Horizon again. I am absolutely disgusted by Horizon Services - not by poor customer services but by NO CUSTOMER service. My husband and I have heating and air conditioning systems sold and installed by Horizon. We have also purchased the maintenance contract pursuant to which we pay a yearly fee and in return Horizon promises to service these systems so that they are running in tip top shape during the appropriate seasons. However, my experience lately with Horizon is that they DO NOT DELIVER on their promises. Last year they rescheduled our appointments for air conditioning service TWICE - and ALWAYS on the day on which service is scheduled. They just called at 1 o'clock today to tell me that no one would be coming to provide service on our heating system that had been scheduled to occur between 2 pm and 6 pm today. Our original date for this service was back in October, and this is the 3rd time they have cancelled at the last minute. This time I objected vehemently. I advised the caller, who identified herself as "Mya or Myra" that this was unacceptable since we have paid for this service well in advance, this is the 3rd time that they cancelled at the last minute, and the 3rd time my husband scheduled to be off work in order to be home to meet the technician. So much for the promise on Horizon's website that service would be "on time or it's free." Rather, their failure to honor their promises is costing us money!!! I told Myra that I expected them to honor their commitment and provide service today and promptly hung up. She called back, ACCUSED ME of cancelling the appointment and that they wouldn't be coming. I certainly did not cancel - and HOW DARE SHE unilaterally decided that Horizon will not honor its contractual obligation to provide service under the maintenance contact. We have met our obligations under the contract. We paid in full in advance. We scheduled appointments for this service on 3 different occasions and are in the home awaiting service. Since this has to us multiple times for services to both the A/C and heating systems, one has to question whether Horizon is not sufficiently staffed to provide the services it promises under its maintenance contracts, selling them to have the use of our money instead of really intending provide service "on-time or it's free." read more

Purchased new HVACsystem 2 years ago. Tried to scheduled an Air conditioner check up the end of April, and could not get one till. July 5th. Appointment was confirmed via text at 6 pm on July 4t. Appointment was for 2 pm to 5 pm window. Received phone at 3:15 that due to "emergencies " they could not come, and we would need to reschedule for the end of August. Obviously preventative check ups for those with service contracts are not a priority, or even wanted. read more

Spoke to a friend of mine who has a similar experience and was offered another plan where she would be bumped up the priority schedule if she paid additional money. I really can't believe that I am posting the exact same review as one year ago. I am a long term Horizon customer and I have had them replace my heater twice, a/c and a hot water heater and I purchase their maintenance plan every year. Every year for at least the last three years I am called the morning of my appointment to reschedule due to them having so many emergencies. Last year I was scheduled in November (when it was still warm out) and rescheduled until January. In January they shut down my 8 year old system telling me I needed to replace it. Now it was too cold to stay in my house until they could replace the heater. I scheduled this appointment in June which is ridiculous in itself that I should have to schedule 6 months in advance. I joked with my husband yesterday after having confirmed the appointment that they would call this morning to reschedule. Sure enough Horizon called and rescheduled. I am now scheduled in January. If this appointment wasn't already paid for I would not be using Horizon any more. As I said in my last review, they spend an awful lot of money on advertising. I had my annual service call from Horizon, and was told my whole HVAC system needed replaced. Quote for a AC unit and furnace was 25 thousand dollars with "discounts" factored in. Second company came in at 11K and third finally re-checked and my heater, and it didn't need replaced at all. Its been working fine for the last 3 weeks. These charlatans will rob you blind while shaking your hand and smiling to your face, I will never call this place for service or so much as a leaky faucet ever again. My wife and I were terrified that we'd be in debt for the next 5 years over this. Thank God we did some research and got other opinions. Others may not be so lucky. I spoke to a customer service rep in August about our displeasure with our new HVAC system and the customer service we received. I was very appreciative of his listening ear and his offer of a one year servicing agreement. I scheduled a heater tune up and cleaning for today back in August after we spoke. Again, they called my husband instead of me and canceled the appointment yesterday that was scheduled for today. They told him the next available date is sometime in January. I had services performed on my AC unit on Sunday April 28th and found out the condenser fan needed replaced along with a capacitor that starts the fan. The technician didn't have on but went to his warehouse and got a universal fan that I was told should work. He did have a capacitor on his truck that looked used to me but i'm not sure. The next day the fan stopped working, no AC. I call there off in the evening on the 29th and was on hold for an hour, really and hour. I hung up and called the emergency line and schedule a service visit for today May 1st. While waiting for the service tech I decided to rotate the fan and it started working to my surprise. The capacitor starts the fan so I thought just replacing the part would solve the problem. Since the tech couldn't find anything wrong, he just left without doing anything! read more

Had a unit installed by Horizon 8 years ago. Have had nothing but trouble with the unit since. Had several service calls throughout the winter due to No heat. had over 4 tech's out all said the issue was something different. One technician advised he could not go into our attic due to "a bad leg" and that is where our heat pump is located. Other tech said a squirrel chewed through a wire- the next tech said screws were loose. Still had not resolved the issue. Had to put our heat into emergency back up heat which caused our electric bill to sky rocket. Asked for a service manager to call me back to discuss. He came out and said "nothing wrong with unit" and never called me back. I'm presuming because I'm a woman and he said "I spoke with your husband" thats rude and unprofessional since I am the one that requested to speak. Now, over the weekend- our unit started leaking water severely, down our walls ruining our paint- across our hardwood floors causing them to bubble. I contacted horizon immediately and was told this is not an emergency. Called back to get a sooner appointment since we were promised "priority service" which means absolutely nothing. Still no appointment could be accommodated so I called the service manager and was told "i barely have enough techs working this weekend" again not sure how that is our problem. I contacted horizon three times today to speak with a complaints manager and for over 45 minutes and three separate calls- never got to speak to anyone and got absolutely nowhere. My husband is one week post back surgery and HE had to climb into the attic to determine the problem. The customer service has always been horrible- they promise everything under the sun and follow through on NONE of it. Our newly renovated walls are ruined due to the water damage- which no one at horizon found to be an emergency. It was 75 degrees over the weekend so it is my understanding a leaking unit THEY installed would take priority over a no ac call. read more

Worst. Damn. Company. Ever! Lousy customer service. Can't ever talk to supervisor. I hate Whorizon with a passion. My furnace had a propane leak, call & they came out in 2 hours. Was told they had to order a part, should be in stock in a couple of days. One hour before they were scheduled to arrive, I got a call saying they had the wrong part & they would have to reschedule. After waiting 7 days, I called & was informed they had to get the part from an outside source & they're not open on weekends. I ask to speak to a supervisor & of course that ain't happening. Go ahead, call, ask for a supervisor, you won't get one. I waited 11 days to have my furnace repaired. Early October, I called to schedule a heater tune up, the best they could do was schedule my tuneup for December 4, a two month wait. One hour before they were due to arrive, I got a call saying it was canceled because of a high volume of emergency calls. Then they ask me if I was available January 17 for the tuneup. Told them fuck you, I'll never use their services again. Of course they didn't give a shit, they never do. Lousy customer service, excuses for their ineptness, unable to speak to supervisor, this company sucks and they have one hell of a nerve displaying that 100% customer satisfaction on their trucks. If you want great service, call Boulden Brothers. After Whorizon cancelled, I called Boulden & they were here 2 days later. Whorizon, you the worst company I ever did business with. I hired Horizon Services for an AC tuneup for Wednesday, July 29th, but a couple hours before my appointment, someone called me to reschedule it to Sunday, August 2nd. I made this appointment 3 weeks in advance, so I was a little annoyed, but I decided to give them another chance. It's Sunday, August 2nd and I waited from 12 PM to 4 PM, but no one showed up and no one called me. It was a complete waste of my time. I promptly fired them. I called their office number and was connected to the scheduling department. I was told that the tech was still working on another job and was asked if I'd like to reschedule. I kindly asked them to cancel. I'd be a fool to let them waste my time again. There was no mention of the on-time or it's free guarantee. The third attempt to reschedule they told me there were many people who needed a whole new system installed and won't come to service an existing unit. I would give them zero stars if I could all due to their customer service experience model. on 1/2 my heat exchanger failed on my 6 year old Lennox furnace (something that shouldn't happen per other HVAC experts I've contacted). I was told this part would need to be ordered and I wouldn't have heat until Monday at the earliest. First, I think it's so ridiculous that these aren't parts that they have in stock or can easily get from a local distributor. My issue is I have called Horizon multiple times today (Monday) to get an update. No one can tell me if my part has arrived. It's 2024! literally everything has a tracking number. After being told I would receive a call back, I never did. I called again at 4:26pm and asked to speak to a manager and was told that is not possible. The agent I spoke with told me they would email a manger and I would get a response within 12-24 business hours. Here I am, day 5 of no heat, snow on the ground and Horizon doesn't even give a crap or act like they care/have a sense of urgency. Their customer service is terrible And I've already filed a complaint with the BBB. Here is the best part...they have these furnaces in stock...they could have easily pulled a heat exchanger off of one and installed in already. When this unit is no longer under warranty, I will NEVER be calling or using Horizon ever again. read more

I am not going to bash them publicly since the manager called me for details about my experience. Don't be in too much of a rush or a panic when your system fails but instead take your time to research companies before committing. I'd give zero stars if possible. The worst experience I've ever had with a company. Lied about our heater being "broken". A friend who works in the industry came to our aid after horizon made us sign a waiver saying if we ran our system and got carbon monoxide poisoning it wasn't our fault. The problem they "diagnosed which allegedly rendered our heater useless" was non existent and we went 2 months last winter without running our heat before we turned it back in and haven't had any issues since. They said we would need a new unit at the cost of close to $10k. The most ironic thing is that they told the same story to our senior neighbors and they bought into it.... Not sure why getting a quote from the two contractors that I ordered deemed- virtually impossible. very expensive and they don't know the difference between having someone come out to do a quote or someone coming out to do maintenance. Would NOT RECOMMEND. read more

Once again I find myself writing a negative review about the horrible service at this company. I called to schedule my annual air conditioner tune-ups. At the time of my installation, I had agreed to accept two years of free tune-ups to my HVAC systems as compensation for the outrageous experience I had during that installation. During the call, I found out that they cleverly scheduled my so-called membership in a way that did not get me two seasons of air conditioner tune-ups but ran the expiration of the "membership" to the date of the installation so of course I did not realize I had to schedule in February. I inquired about the price for tune-ups without the membership and I was told it would cost $139.00. Rather than argue I agreed to pay that price. The rep took my credit card information and told me I had to wait until the payment was processed to schedule the work. I found that odd but whatever. It took two days to get a confirmation email and when I opened it the price went up to $488.00 for a full maintenance plan. I simply wanted to schedule annual preventative maintenance on the relatively new units I have. Still, now I get a solicitation for expensive services that I do not want or need. There is no end to the incompetence and straight-up deceit I have experienced with this company! Please do not use them they will lie through their teeth at every turn! read more

The technician was on time, knowledgeable and solved our issue quickly. I had no issues with this company

The work was to replace a sewer pipe by cutting into the foundation inside the house. They destroyed a wall to access the pipe and ran the new pipe with no regard for placement. The new pipe sticks farther out from the wall than it needs to be and it runs at an angle which is an obstruction to the steps into the next room. The concrete they poured over the pipes was not properly smoothed out, so the floor couldn't be retiled. They didn't clean up the debris left behind, which was found scattered under the carpet. An extension on the wall now has to be built. Just a series of errors and poor quality workmanship. read more

I have been paying Horizon for their maintenance service so many times you can't get an appointment. When you call in advance and get an appointment my window was today from 12-4pm so I stayed home from work to be able to be there. They called at 130pm to tell me that they can't come today AND can't do the maintenance until 6/27. So have to stay home from work again on another day, but also they can't even get me in earlier. The guy who called was not sympathetic and just said "it is what it is". Really bad service. Why even offer maintenance contracts if you don't intend to keep the appointments or satisfy customers who are loyal and paying. read more

Horizon Services salesperson misled, over promised and eventually overcharged us the installation of new HVAC system. My two neighbors installed the same unit at ~$3000 less! Calls to their customer care department and manager were basically got ignored. read more
