Our party of 4 arrived at 8:15 and requested an outside table. Was reluctantly given one. Server took drink order fairly promptly and delivered as well. Took 20 minutes for food order to be taken and over an hour to be served ( soup, chili, chicken and steak sandwinches) Just prior to food being delivered told one sandwich would not have grilled vegetable bc they ran out. Had a nice night out here with a friend. We'd been walking around Tarrytown and wanted to sit outside on a beautiful evening, and this fit the bill. Service was great, which was nice. Our server was friendly & informative. We started with a beer for him, soda for me and an order of fried clam strips, which were quite tasty. For dinner we both ordered the Broadway dip minus the onions. It was so filling that it would have been better if we had ordered one to share, since we each had a half left over when we finished. First, you have to realize that the weather was truly perfect for lunch outside--sunshine, a little breeze, but hints of autumn chill. Each of us ordered something different, and each of us was highly satisfied. Friend had the Gobbler, which didn't sound good to me until it arrived--beautiful sandwich, and his steak fries were perfectly crisp. Spouse had a veggie burger with a side of veggie chili, which I tried, and yes, it was delicious. As for me, I had the chicken salad club with mashed. It had been ages since I had mashed potatoes, and I almost never order them when we're out (mine are too good, I'll admit it), but something prompted me, and I was so glad I did. Service was pleasant and prompt. The portions were large, so half of mine home was packed up to take home. Not sure if we'll ever be in the neighborhood again, but we've already recommended Horsefeathers twice while chatting with neighbors. (Also, while we ate lunch, there was a pair of Ladies Who Lunch who seemed to be having a marvelous time with their cocktails.) The roast beef was tender and cooked well, however, it was DRY. Needs AuJus on the side. My son had the steak sandwich which was delicious. This place is Affordable! Which is a novelty in Tarrytown. We were in the area for the Great Jack-O-Lantern Blaze over in Croton-on-Hudson and wanted a unique, local dining experience. After exploring a bit of Tarrytown/Sleepy Hollow, we were starving and needed a place to eat. Some of the other Yelp recommendations led us to places that were overly crowded and with limited street parking. Luckily, we stumbled upon Horsefeathers after an extensive research. From my memory, there is no specific parking lot so you have to find street parking. We found a parking lot a few yards away where many other town goers were parked. The restaurant was quite packed, but after a few minutes wait, we were able to be seated. It's themed after some of America's greatest literatures, and they had photos of them on the wall. It was only a couple days after Halloween, so many of the decorations were still up. It set off really cool Disney World's Haunted Mansion vibes and I was digging it. My boyfriend and I both ordered burgers; it was really all I was craving after a long day of driving and sightseeing. They hit the spot and were juicy and flavorful. Fries were well seasoned. There was an extensive menu, but I somehow always end up with a burger due to my indecisiveness. Quarters are a bit tight in here. There is a bar area that was extremely full. At times felt like I was going to accidentally bump into someone at the other tables trying to take my jacket off/on. Otherwise, this place is awesome! We had a 2 hour wait on a Saturday night in October, for a group of 10, but the food and cool atmosphere was worth it. The burgers also in high volume may take 45 minutes to get. Still, worth it. We had burgers, soup, salads, pasta, filet mignon, and steak sandwich. Our server gave us great service despite being so busy. The butternut squash soup and the salad was great. We came to Horesefeathers on Friday night for takeout. Originally, we were super excited for the Adult Juice Boxes. Such a fun takeout drink! We got the Katrina Cooler and Gone With The Whiskey. Both were pretty strong and I think I liked the Juice Box container more than the drink itself. For food, we ordered the Turkey Avocado with sweet potato fries and Philly Cheese Steak. I really liked the Turkey Avocado! I haven't had pumpernickel bread in such a long time and I have really missed it. They also give a good amount of turkey with the sandwich. Wow - amazed to be treated so rudely after frequenting a local establishment for years. Disappointing when it's more important to get the rugs cleaned than treat clients with respect. Food was good but tonight the place was definitely lacking a quality bartender like Brandon or Kade. Hoping it was their off night and not a permanent change, When you are having dinner and watching the game with a few friends but, to the restaurant it's more important for the stools to be up on the bar than what you, as a paying customer are doing, someone's lost their way. Solid food with friendly, efficient staff. Our group arrived at 5pm on a busy October weekend and waited about an hour. Our server was welcoming and checked up on us frequently despite the place being absolutely slammed. Food-wise, we were all satisfied! The turkey pot pie soup hit the spot after a long day of walking around in brisk autumn weather. Among other items, our group tried the Arthur Ave and John Paulding wedge sandwiches -- both were solid, though I'd be wary of the Arthur Ave disintegrating in the tomato sauce if you eat it too slowly. Expect a longer wait on days with major events around the area, especially weekends in autumn (and October specifically with Halloween events around town). I can't believe it needs to be said, but don't be a straight up blight on society by yelling at the staff when the wait is long and you've refused seats both on the patio and the bar. Suck up the wait, find somewhere else to go, or leave your embarrassing, trashy attitude at home -- it's that simple. All in all, I wouldn't say our experience was worth the hour-long wait, but given the fair price point and solid food and service, I would absolutely stop by again if it were less busy (which it sounds like it usually is). Was a solid overall experience, expected more though. Came up from Long Island for the Blaze and Halloween festivities. Saw a lot of great things about this place. To start we were quoted a 25 minute wait at 5pm which was super accurate. Upon sitting down it was a super small restaurant that they just seemed to jam tables into. Super uncomfortable. After waiting about 10 minutes the waitress made her way over and we were able to order drinks and a round of waters. I ordered a Moscow Mule my go to drink. The taste was very good was a little disappointed in the presentation and that they didn't have a copper mug. Next we ordered appetizers we ordered the Fried combo and the fried calamari. The food was very good and presented uniquely. For dinner I ordered the Knickerbocker which was widely regarded as their best burger. I ordered medium rare but it came out more medium to medium well, tasted good though. In conclusion I really liked the food there but I'd definitely want to try another spot when we come back next year. read more
