Stopped by for brunch after our visit to the Lyndhusrt Mansion. It's a very solid diner-ish/pub-ish restaurant: lot sof menu options, generous portions and friendly staff members. I have been meaning to try this place for years. Unfortunately it was a disappointment. First, they have no beers on tap, which was surprising for an Irish bar. Had to get a Guinness out of a bottle. Tried the french onion soup for a stater (follow @Doctor_f.o.s on instagram for reviews) and it sucked. Came out cold, undercooked and very light. I ordered the burger and chili combo. It came out with nothing. No lettuce, tomato, cheese. Wtf? Just a plain meat patty and bun. When I asked for lettuce and tomato the waiter seemed pissed. The "home made cut fries" were also pretty terrible and lacked seasoning. We also had to ask for utensils when we sat down and again the waiter seemed pissed. My wife ordered the crab cake Benedict, which was over cooked to the max. Eggs fully cooked through. She didn't eat it. The only thing good was the bakery basket as a starter. I am still so angry over a recent experience. My husband and I have been fans of Horsefeathers for years. It's usually a welcoming place with consistently-good food. Here's what transpired: A waiter took our order, and he evidently didn't enter it into the order system. A Caesar salad that typically arrives within 10 minutes did not arrive until we asked our waiter where it was (approx. 30 minutes after ordering). Although the Saturday-evening crowd was thinning out, we waited (and waited and waited) for our entrees. No checking up on our table. We watched as two parties that arrived after us received their full orders. I was about to throw down $20 for my glass of wine and the salad before walking out, when a diner sitting at the next table asked if we were disappointed with the service. When we gave an affirmative response, he left his table and spoke to "someone" (I didn't see who), and our entrees miraculously appeared. Mine was incorrect, and our waiter apologized for screwing up our order. Okay - he was affable, and everyone makes mistakes. But when my husband pointed out the delay and the error, a woman that I will describe as Short, Dark Haired and Wearing Glasses ("SDH&WG" - a manager?) started yelling at my husband. She told HIM to stop yelling, which he wasn't doing! SDH&WG is a nasty, nasty woman who needs to find another profession. I have no intention to ever return. read more

Checked this place out during the fall festival on Beekmam yesterday . Told there was a 45 min wait for 2 people , however they took us in 30 . Such a cute place with Halloween and fun, spooky stuff throughout. I ordered the Paloma to drink .. tequila, red grapefruit juice ,club soda and lime with a salted rim . Delicious and refreshing! For dinner I had Gracie's good chicken with mashed potatoes. The sauce was creamy with mushrooms , very flavorful and a nice size portion! I've been coming to Horsefeathers since I started working in Tarrytown in 2015. I've procrastinated on writing a review for years because it's a spot that's near and dear to me and the community, and writing a dispassionate review of this place is a bit like being asked to write a review of your favorite aunt or uncle. Horsefeathers' contributions to the community during the pandemic have gone well beyond keeping diners safe. Their "Moveable Feast" -- which lets patrons donate meals to first responders and others in need -- has helped feed some of the most hard-pressed and vulnerable folks in our area. So if you are able, consider asking your server about adding a few bucks to your tab to help out (or donate online at their website). Their attention to COVID safety within the restaurant also is notable -- it was one of the first places we felt comfortable ordering takeout from, and until the temperatures really froze over we enjoyed eating on their patio. We're looking forward to returning to their socially-distanced tables and outdoor heaters this spring. I started coming to Horsefeathers to enjoy a drink with colleagues, and I'm looking forward to the day when I can sit at the long copper bar and knock back a few more. Their bartenders are some of the most reliable in town. They have a long martini list, and it's not for show. It will be strong, and it will be properly made. While they don't have taps, they have a long and well curated list of bottled beer that won't let you down. Nor should you pass up the opportunity to take down a Bloody Mary with all of the trimmings at brunch on the weekends. The lunch and dinner menu is long. Not quite a chrome diner bible, but longer than it needs to be. My advice is to keep it simple: order a burger, wedge, or a sandwich. The burgers come out hot, thick, and well-seasoned. Our go-to is the Johnny, which is topped with roasted garlic and melted cheddar. I'd go with the onion rings or the sweet potato fries for a side (or both). Their desserts also never fail to make us smile. Our favorite is the Black Beauty, a towering Sundae with brownie chunks, chocolate, vanilla ice cream, and whipped cream that comes out in a massive coupe glass. I will concede that we've been disappointed or puzzled whenever we have ventured away from these staples. You do you, but you will almost certainly walk away full and happy as long as you order something served between bread. Brunch is really the meal I crave at Horsefeathers. Indeed, it's difficult for me to imagine a more perfect Saturday than a visit to the TASH, followed by a short walk up the hill to Horsefeathers. You should not eat before, and you will not need to eat for a long time afterward. We try to arrive at the beginning or end of service to avoid the crowd. When you dine in, they start with a basket of warm pastries that on a normal day would be called breakfast. The omelettes are massive, filled to bursting, and deeply satisfying. Do not forget the Bloody Mary. I get the wide range of reviews on here, and I acknowledge that I'm giving this spot five stars at the same time that I'm urging you to ignore roughly half of their regular menu. But the truth is that going to Horsefeathers feels like home to me, and I just can't say that about many spots. My hope is that if you follow my advice -- order a martini, a burger, and a sundae, and maybe donate a few dollars to Moveable Feast -- Horsefeathers can feel like a bit of home for you too. read more

The perfect place to chill after a day of Sleepy Hollow exploration. The perfect place to curl up with a scary book and a glass of wine (decent list of reds, whites and bubbly by the glass, but if you're a writer like the ones pictured in that giant mural on the wall, you might just go for the entire bottle). The perfect place to soak in all the #fallvibes & #tavernvibes We rolled up here around 4pm on a rainy Friday afternoon in mid- October. The place had a few people in it (but by the time we left around 6, it was filling up. No reservations) and we were greeted by a friendly bartender and server. I need to mention how incredibly nice everyone is here. And no glass shall ever go empty! Admittedly there isn't really anything vegan on the very large menu. I saw a pasta dish that could be veganized but that's about it (I didn't ask if the veggie burger is vegan). I wasn't really hungry (ate a few of my husband's steak fries which are so good they are worth mentioning here! Obviously fresh potatoes are used). We left with a new favorite place in the Hudson Valley. I can't imagine not stopping in anytime we happen to be in Sleepy Hollow. Horsefeathers is a must! read more

During a day of exploration in Sleepy Hollow we decided to stop at Horsefeathers because the outdoor seating was packed when we initially drove past. Food: - Appetizers: Mozzarella sticks and new england clam chowder. These were my favorite dishes of the day, particularly the mozzarella sticks. The soup was good, however it was served incredibly hot (likely too hot). Not only did my wife burn her mouth a bit after letting it sit a few minutes, but the woman at the table next to us, who ordered squash soup, also visibly burned her mouth in trying to her soup. - Entrée: Arugula salad and crab cakes. Unlike the appetizers, the entrees left a lot to be desired. The arugula salad was ok, but far from the best we've ever had. We asked for the dressing to be mixed into the salad and it brought on the side. The crab cakes were simply ok. They did not have a ton of flavor and while I give credit to the fact that they had a tremendous portion of crab, they were bland. The accompanying sauce felt out of place, a mustard tartar is the best way to describe it. - Drinks: Excellent choices include NA Guinness. Atmosphere: - Very nice seating on the side walk lined with plants/flowers. It was a fall-like day and had table in the sun, shade, and a mixture which was perfect! Service: - Service was good, I would rate it as average. The food runners were very pleasant and friendly. Tarrytown is full of insanely pricey restaurants. Horsefeathers exists in the eye of this hurrican, serving, great simple food as they did when I went there 20 years ago. The Knickerbocker burger has carmelized onions and horseradish; Johnnie burger has garlic and cheddar. Both of these are worth going out of your way for, which I did. I decided to come in and try the restaurant because I follow the owner's TikTok. The server was very nice and attentive, the ambiance was great and the restaurant was clean. We started off with the cheese and spinach dip in hopes to get something quick and delicious to hold off hunger until entrees arrive. This is where is the experience ended. The dip had a strong velveeta and frozen spinach taste, with a random scoop of sour cream on top with a few chopped tomatoes and olives? It was just really bad, like something you would concoct at 3am after coming home from the bars with whatever's left in the fridge. We thought of trying to go to a different restaurant in the area, but it seemed that the wait there wouldn't be any shorter, so we just decided to hop in line. Our server was friendly and gave us some recommendations on places to visit in Sleepy Hollow. She first gave us only lunch menus, but after someone asked about eggs benedict, she brought out a brunch menu but gave us fair warning that brunch foods would take significantly longer to make at that time of day. We ended up waiting a bit over 45 minutes or so for the food to come out, but it did all come out at once, which was nice. The food was pretty average overall. The burger was a bit dry and the sweet potato fries were a bit soggy and didn't taste great, but I guess that's a common issue with sweet potato fries. Overall, the restaurant was pretty average. Luckily it was cheaper than most NYC restaurants and it was able to host a large group, but otherwise it wasn't anything particularly special. read more

We found this place by accident a few years back, , when we wanted to go to a place in Dobbs ferry that was on man V. food. Unfortunately, (fortunately for us, in this case, ) it was the day of the town festival, and there was no way to get anywhere near the place. So we looked for another place, and we liked the name "Horsefeathers." This place is now our go to when I am visiting from California, and we are in the area. We really like the atmosphere and the decorations inside, and everyone is always friendly and helpful. If it's nice weather, they also have dining outdoors. People are even invited to bring their dogs with them when they are dining on the outside patio. We normally get the same thing. The Turkey pot pie soup. Big chunks of delicious turkey, veggies, and instead of a gravy, it's more of a thick soup. It comes with a fluffy biscuit on the top. It is amazing! It is what we usually get. However, today, while my partner got the soup again, I decided to try something different I got a sandwich they called "the gobbler." Turkey, cranberry, and cornbread stuffing, on whole-grain bread. It was basically Thanksgiving dinner on a sandwich. I used to order a version of it when "the eggs nest" was under the original owners, and this version was just as good! The turkey was juicy, I liked the tang of the cranberry, the stuffing was moist and it had a lot of flavor, it...was ...excellent! For my side, I had the garlic mashed potatoes. A big portion, you could definitely taste the garlic, And they were a bit lumpy but in a good way. You could tell that they used real potatoes They have a full bar. I do not drink, but my partner had the pear cider, and she said that it was delightful! The desserts are very good, But Today, we were kind of full, so we did not partake. We've had the bread pudding, which we loved, and I remember one time I I ordered the cobbler. That thing was huge! But oh so good. For all you get, prices are very reasonable.
