Personally, Hot Box is my favorite cookie spot in St. Louis. There's always a new flavor to try, such as chocolate covered strawberry and the cookies and always soft and delicious. I didn't get to get a picture of my cookies, but trust me.. they're worth it. The service is always nice. The workers are very informative and the cookies. I believe there are also ice cream sandwiches. I'm a sucker for aesthetics, and the neon light was the perfect touch! read more

My husband and I went here late night around 11pm when he wanted some dessert. We hadn't had Hot box cookies since we were in colleges and they were amazing then! Let me tell you! I was upset when they didn't have peanut better (which sunny favorite!) but! They ended up having a peanut butter cookie with candy in it and it was YUM-O! Nice and warm and SOFT! Oh my goodness! Highly recommend! So nostalgic from college and as full on adults with kids now... we can't wait to share this with our boys!!!! DELISH!!!!!! And they were open late night!!!! Wow! This was my first time attempting to come here but I'm disappointed that during normal business hours they posted a sign that they're "Re baking" their cookies and will be back in 30 minutes. They were not back in 30 mins. In fact a lot of customers were waiting outside and eventually left wondering what was going on. If this is how they normally do business where they lock the front stores while they bake their cookies, why even have hours of operations. Appallingly bad reviews here! So I did have to call to lady in back to tell her I was here. After that no service problems. I ordered 2 cookie icing sandwiches. The cookies came from what I'm assuming is a warmer under the counter. The cookies were really well done to a dark brown color. One of these is chocolate chip and one is oatmeal raisin. I was looking for one of those mall sandwich cookies without actually stepping foot in a mall. This wasn't quite it. I felt like the cookies had what I'd call an oil taste vs a butter taste. Also they were just a bit overcooked for my taste. The icing was good but I don't think anyone made that on the premises. I'm sure I'd return if I need warm cookies. This place is a joke! We stood outside for 20 minutes because their employee locked the door at 4pm. Called customer service 3 times and finally she opened the door. The inside of the lobby look like just an open room. There was nothing inviting about it. The employee had a major attitude. They were out of the first 3 cookies that we asked for. The server was nice. The lobby wasn't the cleanest and there was no visible menu. When I asked what was available she said "Tell me what you want" so of course what I wanted wasn't available. So I finally asked just to look below the counter and tell me what she had. She offered to make fresh cookies for me if I wanted to wait 15 minutes, I just didn't have time. I took four cookies that were available. These cookies were flat, tasteless, greasy and had apparently been in the warmer all day. Why would you even sell those? Now I know why she wanted to make fresh ones. I don't understand, why not throw those away and have a few fresher cookies on hand??? Hello, I was at your location on 721 N New Ballas Rd Saint Louis, MO 63141 and did not have the best experience. Upon arrival the worker which was the only employee on duty, was not in the building she was sitting in the car with a gentlemen. She was very nasty and rude and was not pleasant at all. We placed our order and we decided to enjoy our order in the dining area. The worker then left back out and went to the car with a gentleman. She left the store unattended for more than 15 min. After she came back in smelling like marijuana she rudely told us that her dining room closed at 10:00 p. We felt uneasy especially after she had been clearly smoking marijuana and we decided to leave. As we were entering our cars She ran out and asked a member of our party could they come back and throw a piece of trash away. She was very confrontational, so a member of our party went in to throw away the trash. We were very fearful after she had a person in a car outside of the restaurant waiting. I will never return to this location again after the horrible experience that we had. read more

This place is not good. There are multiple problems with this establishment which I will dive into. Let's start off with the obvious, why does it look like it belongs in some COD zombies map. No effort was given into the design of the inside. No effort was given into making the outside look nice. No effort was given into the renovations of the building. The inside is an embarrassment. Absolutely vulgar and distrusting from floor to ceiling and wall to wall. Sometimes I wish a wrecking ball would just go right through this place. Next on the agenda we have to discuss the prices. Holy smokes is this place expensive. I'm a hardworking guy with a part time job and I can't afford half of what they offer. One cookie, ONE COOKIE is upwards of $2. I am genuinely baffled at this and am majorly disappointed in what the world has come to. And by the world I mean the restaurant industry on Olive. Finally, my least favorite and part I despise the most is the process of paying. The dude at the counter had the audacity to flip the screen around asking for a TIP. A TIP for just grabbing a cookie. Yeah F-ing right. Tipping culture has gotten out of hand and this so called "establishment" has fallen into the privy little trap of this evil world. While asking for a tip the Big dude at the counter stares the costumer down trying to intimidate the young high schooler into giving him a tip for simply grabbing a cookie. Sorry my guy but that don't work on me. The amount of anger, resentment, and frustration this location serves up on the daily can't be described by anything. So impressed with the customer service of the manager! We had placed an online order for delivery and unfortunately the location's internet was down. After I received the cancellation email I called the location to inquire about it. The manager was extremely polite and helpful! He took my order over the phone and said he was going to cook them right away. When I arrived 15 minutes later, he had them all ready and waiting for me. So friendly, and the kids loved the cookies! I am not sure what's happening but I will not return with the rudeness from the staff, lack of cookies and doors being locked during NORMAL BUSINESS HOURS.
