Hidden on a mall strip and unless you are looking for it, it's not all that visible. I've come over a few times. It's inexpensive and you get lots of food your the price. Individual hot pot boiler at your table, you chose your broth and then your protein and veggies. You control the temperature and way you want your pit cooked. There's a spice/sauce bar you can choose condiments from. It's a fun experience but not fancy nor with lots of decor or vibes going on. Just come to eat and go!

My friend took me out for my birthday dinner and because I always have a craving for hot pot we went to Hot Spot. It was not busy for a Monday evening, but they were very slow at bringing our orders out. By the time we made our sauce and our soups were boiling, they still have not brought out the meat. We had to flag a server down two separate times to remind them, which was a bit annoying. The wall decor made the interior appear modern, but the barriers in between tables made the place look dull and cramped. Overall, the food quality and service were mediocre compared to other AYCE hot pot places.

Great hot pot place with a variety of meats and veggie options. The service was pretty fast as they brought out our items soon after we ordered. Our server checkin on us frequently and made sure to refill our broths whenever it got low. Absolutely loved the drinks for the Halloween special. I was able to try the Jell-O shots and the blood bag. Both were fun drinks and made our time at hot spot more fun. Definitely a great place to hangout with friends or a date.

Neat place where you have your own self service burners to boil your broth and cook at the table. The mushroom broth was good. Vegetables were fresh. There wasn't a lot of sauces to pick from. The proteins that they give are in small portions esiecually shrimp and scallops. Ambiance is okay, there was a stall where it was cordoned off with yellow tape like a crime scene, just looked messy for a dining place.

The unlimited hot pot provided great value for the money. We used a groupon deal. Note their dinner prices are all weekend. They offered high quality hot pot ingredients including thinly sliced prime ribeye beef, scallops, octopus, squid, king oyster mushrooms along with all the staples like puffed tofu, fish balls, and a variety of vegetables and noodles. They also had a self serve build your own sauce station. The scallops tasted slightly fishy and too blanch since they arrived in a frozen block but other than that all the ingredients were delicious. Much easier than shopping and prepping at home.

We got the family hotpot, it was delicious but there were some concerns. - Everytime we order a few things, half of them don't come out. We asked the waitress and yet still doesnt come out. - When we asked a refill for the soup, all they did was add hot water to the soup. Which originally our soup color was red for the tom yum, and clear for the shabu2 broth, it ended up looking like the same color because how watered down it is.

Saw this place on Groupon and went with my fiancé and friend a week ago for Saturday lunch. Called to make reservations and they do not take it for small groups. However, there were plenty of open tables for us which had both individual small and large family style hot pot grills. They were very COVID friendly with plexiglass between many tables, all wear masks, and they take temperatures of all patrons which is greatly appreciated. Perhaps soon, if they feel comfortable, they could check vaccination cards as well but this is not quite a commonplace practice yet. We chose the family style hot pot and got both Shabu Shabu and Tom Yum Broths. We chose with Prime Ribeye Beef, Lamb, and Beef Tongue for the meats. Our fish was Tilapia and Flounder. The starches were Udon, Ramen, and Rice Cakes. We also chose Fish Cakes in the Misc Meats category. The six veggie items we picked were Chinese Broccoli, Bamboo Shoots, Baby Corn, Enoki Mushrooms, Straw Mushrooms, and King Oyster Mushrooms. It was all delicious and a very fun experience and will likely come when back in the Fairfax area.

Outstanding service from Joseph! From the moment we sat down, Joseph was very attentive and friendly. Everything was fresh, and we would definitely return!

Protip: don't wear a white or nice shirt. You're gonna catch some broth splatter no matter how careful you are. I loved that it was all you could eat. I can't imagine most people would want to stay past the 2 hour mark. But you can pick what you want and enjoy the tasty broth and their menu options. I really liked the mini dumplings, scallops, and marinated pork. While we were waiting for the food I made a spicy dipping sauce at the sauce bar but after tasting the broth I went back and made a mild umami one. The sichuan peppercorns got me!

    I'm hot pottin'.

Decent price, especially during lunch hours. Quality, consistency, and variety of products and dipping sauces are all solid.

What are the vegan options? Is there a spicy broth that's vegan friendly?

Is place is super vegan friendly. They have Veggie broth specifically for Vegans

Is it all you can eat?

Yes, definitely. The max we could fill ourselves was to a 3rd run. Almost felt bursting at that point. They do ask to limit choices of 3 choices from protein, carb and seafood section and 6 from vegetables.

Is this place kid friendly and do they have a kids price? I have a 2 year old that will eat most of this stuff, just not sure if the atmosphere is accommodating.

Kids 6 and under eat free. Personally I don't think the atmosphere is kid-friendly but I've noticed…

Did they go out of business? I tried calling but the number is out of service

    They've reopen 10/27/18

    Are there gluten free options?

Yeah! I actually wrote a Hot Spot review specifically for this topic :). It's a great place if you have gluten allergies or Celiac's disease! (Or if you're just eating-gluten free)

Can you order 1 for two people or do two people have to have their own?

You can share a pot or have individual pots

2 questions: Only way to make a reservation is to call them? And, what is the dinner price for adults? Thanks!

They accept reservation only party of 6 or more, and adult should be cost about $23. Weekend will be packed, if you have more than 6. Recommend to make one.

Does anyone know what is in their broths? Do they add sugars. Does it have soy or any nitrates etc in it?

There are a different kinds of broth which you cab choose from, ex veggie broth, tom yum (spicy) broth...etc

What is the lunch price for adults?

    $22 per person! AYCE

Do they do anything for birthdays?

    I don't think so

One of the highlights of the night was meeting the owner, Jason. We bonded over our shared Cantonese backgrounds and even got to meet his aunt, who was visiting from California and happened to be sitting next to us. It made the whole experience feel incredibly welcoming and personal. We ordered the Dynamite Roll, which was a solid choice with 8 generous pieces, and the Szechuan spicy wontons, which were juicy with just the right amount of heat. If you visit, definitely grab a seat at the bar. The bartenders are friendly, engaging, and really add to the experience. We were treated to a complimentary shot of Jäger with Jason and even got to sample their Lychee Pearl cocktail because the bartender had made an extra. The cocktails really stood out. Instead of masking everything with sugary juices, they use extracts and creative techniques to build balanced drinks that complement the flavors beautifully. Jason also mentioned that their cocktail specials change every month, so we already told him we'll be back regularly to see what new creations he comes up with.

Our group of five sampled a great variety from the menu, including the Hot & Numbing Tofu Skin, Crab Roe Soup Dumplings, Cucumber Salad, Lettuce Wraps, Cumin Fish, Stir-Fried Beef Tenderloin, Crispy Pork Ribs with Scallion Crisps and Mixed Grain & Purple Rice, Stir-Fried Beef with Chilies, and Kung Pao Chicken with white rice. The standout for me was the cumin fish. It was fried perfectly--crispy without being greasy--and the cumin added great flavor without overpowering the dish. The crispy pork ribs lived up to their name and had a nice kick of spice. The cucumber salad packed a serious garlic punch, which I really enjoyed. The Hot & Numbing Tofu Skin was something completely different from what I expected. It's sliced into long ribbons that resemble noodles or pasta. The flavor was excellent, although the texture took some getting used to. The only dish that fell a little short was the stir-fried beef tenderloin, which could have used a bit more seasoning. Everything else was delicious. The portions are enormous. At first the prices seemed a little high, but once the food arrived it made perfect sense. Every entrée was easily enough for two meals. One thing to keep in mind is that rice is ordered separately and isn't included with the entrées. Service was excellent throughout our meal. We arrived for lunch and didn't realize they close between lunch and dinner (lunch is served from 11:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.). We ended up staying until about 2:45, and the staff never made us feel rushed even though they had technically closed. They greeted us promptly, took our drink orders, and gave us plenty of time to look over the menu without hovering. The restaurant is tucked away on the ground floor of an office building, so it's easy to drive right past if you aren't looking for it. Parking was plentiful, and the oversized booths comfortably fit all five of us without feeling cramped. If you're dining with a group and want to sample a variety of authentic dishes, Mama Chang is definitely worth the visit.

The place was filling up and the ambiance reminds me of a traditional bustling noodle house - perfect for the cold snap we were experiencing at the time. We got hot and sour noodle soup, sichuan beef noodle soup, and an order of their pork soup dumplings. Portions are generous and prices are fair, it's easy to become a regular here if you live nearby. The hot and sour noodle soup is as advertised - just enough spice to complement the sour, but not overwhelm to make it feel like mala. It's served, as expected, with glass noodles, some bak choi, and some pork slices. Nothing spectacular but par for the course. The sichuan beef noodle foon soup was slight notch better. The broth gives really warm vibe and you can tell it's been brothing for a long time. Again just the right amount of spicy to make you keep slurping for more. The noodles were average, chewy, but not bouncy. Also comes with a healthy amount beef slices and bak choi. Again - a great noodle soup bowl but nothing jaw dropping. Soup dumplings were fantastic, however. The pork definitely has its own marinade and the soup is flavorful. The dumpling skin is well constructed and complemented well with the noodle soups - especially in cold weather. tldr; solid noodle soup spot, they seem to be consistent and really hits the mark when you're in a for your noodle fix. Soup dumplings are probably a must get side dish with whatever your main is
