I finally decided to stop putting off having my tankless water heater serviced and found Hot Water 911 via a Google search. I'd called at least a half dozen plumbers and couldn't find anyone that would service a tankless model in my area. I called 911 on Tuesday afternoon and was able to get an appointment the following day. The technician arrived on time and actually wore shoe covers inside the house which was greatly appreciated. He was polite, professional and efficient. He cleaned and flushed the unit in under an hour. He showed me the filter before he cleaned it and said that I should be cleaning it at least once every 1-2 years. The tech worked quietly and didn't leave a mess when he left. I'm very pleased with the results as my water heater is working properly. The service cost $230 which wasn't too bad. I'll definitely continue to call Hot Water 911 for the regular maintenance. read more

We have a AO Smith hot water heater that failed. I say this because AOSmith lists Hotwater911 as a service representative. We called HW911 to come service the water heater. They said it was not repairable. Okay, let's install a replacement I asked. Please let me know the price and availability as we have no hot water and want to get a sense of timing. The service was at 1:00pm and l had not heard anything by the end of the day. I then called to ask and was told I'd be contacted the next day. I did get a text later apologizing for not getting back earlier and was quoted $6,000 for a $1800 rinnai tankless water heater. Okay...? (why so much markup) The next morning i received a quote to install an AOSmith 50 gallon water heater like the one that broke and that was $9800, again the water heater is $3600. Also, the heater just needs to be exchanged. Remove old, plug in the new. Not complicated labor at all! I contacted HW911 again to ask why the huge price delta and was told " it's complicated". When I asked about online pricing of the same unit being only 35% of the total quote from HW911, the response was that I would not have warranty support by purchasing online. ???!! I wonder if AO Smith knows and supports that policy?? When you get an unclear response, like I did, you should continue to shop. I hope this helps. read more

He seemed genuinely apologetic that he had to tell me that I needed an electrician to solve my particular problem, so I was still gonna have to wait a bit for hot water, then gave me advice on my next steps. I called 911 Hot Water. They asked for the serial number on my tank. I sent it to them in a picture. They told me it is under warranty. So I had them out. He tried a couple of parts and made the repair. Hours later I did not have hot water he returned and replaced the initial part he said was bad on his first visit. All in all I was okay with all this because mistakes happen. He was a nice young man and I finally had hot water. BUT..I have now received a bill for over $800 for the parts. They tell me that the unit was a replacement for an older unit and so the warranty is not in valid. Neither my husband nor I remember such a replacement and I told them so. Truly believing this was a new purchase. I then sent them all the paperwork I could find. This indicated the purchase of the unit in 2016 as the warranty stated not 2021 as indicated by the serial number. Still believing we had not had a warranty replacement, I called the original plumber who also said it was replaced under warranty. I still honestly do not remember this. I called Hot Water 911 and spoke to CHERYL to tell her this whole story. She then called be a "fibber" that I knew it was a replacement (why would I be stupid enough to send the original invoice if I was going to lie?) and that I was "fibbing" about the way the repair happened and the reason for the repairman returning. Before this she interrupted me and would not listen. She raised her voice and when I spoke up because she interrupted me AGAIN she told me to stop yelling. Which I was not doing. I asked if I could now talk and she proceeded to continue calling me a fibber and hung up on me. I just wanted her to talk to me about reducing the service fee. Instead I was treated like a criminal and called names. I did not return her rudeness. This is the worst customer service I have ever received anywhere, bar none. read more

We needed to hire a plumber who is familiar with tankless water heaters. Numerous calls to other companies left us with no confidence in any of them, and inflated estimates. They all just wanted to replace, had no interest in fixing the problem. Our building's two commercial water heaters broke at the same time and we had MULTIPLE plumbers and specialists come out to assess the problem. Hot Water 911 was recommended by the manufacturer of our heaters and ended up being our saving grace. I waited 5 days to get an Rheem service warranty appointment for a 5 month old 40 gallon hot water tank that is constantly shutting down from Hot Water 911. I was told that the techs had parts on their truck. Today in Chicago area we had some variable snow and this company called 2 hours before appointment to cancel/reschedule appointment which I am not happy about? Main roads are fine. I was out at 6 a.m. and was able to do what I needed to do. Anyways, Tony the owner called back and additionally said its a bad gas valve and he has 50 on order and he can't fix the hot water tank because he has no parts. Why was I told that techs had parts and then 5 days later told that there is no gas valve to fix the unit. My time of 5 days with no hot water and no service is not acceptable and not professional. I can't say enough positive things about Hot Water 911. Our water heater died and leaked all over our basement late on a Saturday afternoon. Tony quickly got back to me and walked me through how to stop the leaking - this was fantastic in and of itself and he was super patient telling me what to try one step at a time. He then put together a quote for a replacement heater - on a Sunday. His team was able to deliver and install a new water heater very quickly, they were on time and they did great work. They went above and beyond during installation - moving a new, huge tank down stairs and around a tight corner and getting the leaky one out with no issues. Water heater broke on a Saturday morning and after several other plumbers said they couldn't help Hot Water 911 not only could help but hey made it out to my house within two hours. They installed the replacement part quickly and hot water was up and running within an hour. Terrific service. These guys are a scam- They replaced the hot water heater at my building and knew I was desperate to have it fixed- so they completely charged me a ridiculous amount. The strange part is that the one guy from the company took such pride in the problem and the cost- as if he was excited that it was so much to repair and replace. Hot Water 911 has helped me out on two different occasions over the last year. Both times they were prompt, professional, and fixed the issues using the least expensive parts and labor costs available. Most recently, Kirk was my technician and he was super helpful with that as well as a random plumbing question he answered for me. The worst. We called them because they were "laars certified" technicians. We had water too hot for comfort, asked them to come in and diagnose the situation and now ever since they've been here we've had multiple issues of no hot water at all. Another technician from a different company came out and thought they remedied the issue but a week later no hot water again. You try to call and no one answers and their rates are outrageous. Total scam!!! Came out twice for service, first time charged us $450 to turn unit back on second time (a week later) charged us 240$ to take the unit apart and didn't put it back together. End of service!!!! Recommended us to replace a new one for 6500$. The unit is less then a year old. read more

I needed to have a Gas Control Valve replaced on my hot water heater that was only two years old and under warranty. Warranty covered parts, I had to pay for labor. The first company that came out gave me an estimate of $652 in labor to replace the value. The second company I called said $375 and they would not be able to be out until a week out and I would have to work on getting the part because they don't handle paperwork. I went on You Tube and saw a video of how to change a gas control valve and it was put out there by this company. I saw the link for hotwater911.com at the bottom of the video and called them. I provided the serial number of the hot water heater, he was able to see what trucks had the part on it and scheduled the repair for the next day and it was substantially less than the other two quote provided! New construction, and on move in day the hot water heater had a problem with the gas valve from the factory. They were very quick to call back and were very helpful.
