It's been a while (2022), but they came out to look at a leak with one of our water heaters. They found multiple issues and said the equipment was too old and they needed to replace both of them. They quoted us $5k and some additional cost to check the HVAC while they were there. The HVAC check seemed like everything was fine, but they used it as a sales op to try and sell me new furnace and humidifier, which was working fine at the time (and continues to function 4 years later). Thankfully their 1-year VIP service was the most valuable part of it, because one of the joins for the new water heaters started leaking again almost 12 months later. However, when they came out, they couldn't get the water main to close in our unit, so they quoted me to replace it as an additional cost instead. We said no, and gradually loosened the water main valve to the point where we could get it to close. We believe it was debris from the water main for the building being shut off multiple times for other work recently. Once we resolved that issue, we were able to get them to actually repair their failing original work at no cost. Not sure I would recommend. read more

Cannot recommend unless you like throwing money away. Like others have said, their prices are exorbitant. I recently had them look at my hot water heater. It's 8 years old and there was some corrosion on a pipe indicating it was starting a slow leak. They said the tank is end of life so I should just replace. They quoted me $7500 to replace with same kind of tank, and $11,500 to replace it with a tankless. When I questioned the price, the guy said, Well $3-4k is just the cost of the tank alone. I looked it up and you can easily get this same model specs from a few different brands for about $1k. read more

This company has done some good work for my condo building. The plumber they sent to review my problem, immediately told me I needed a new toilet. My toilet is only 15 years old. He was very pleasant but didn't seem very experienced. I did a project with Goode last summer. That plumber was much more qualified , job was to replace a pipe, and work was excellent. Premium prices for shoddy work and new problems. We have used Goode for many projects. But, we have now had two projects that, because of mistakes made by their plumbers, have led to water damage, mitigation, and restoration. Both projects were relatively simple - hook-up an existing water line to a new fridge and replace the existing frost-resistant hose bib. Each time, we discovered water damage from the botched work after Goode left. Projects that should have taken a few hours turned into a few weeks of additional work, coordinating service appts, and having spaces of our house out of their usual function. It's also fairly shocking that once Goode hands you off to the restoration company, they do no follow-up to ensure your repairs (that they caused the need for) go smoothly. Such a disappointment, especially when they assert to offer "premium" services. read more

Was quoted $500+ to unclog (snake) a basic bathroom sink. Additionally techs came in with wet muddy boots - rather than taking them off, put boot covers on and tracked water/dirt all over bathrooms/bedrooms. And couldn't look at one tubs temp gauges on tub faucet bc didn't have an Allen wrench - seems like a pretty standard tool a plumber should come with when the issue was told to the dispatcher who booked the appointment. The pricing and professionalism left much to be desired. Better off w a smaller independent plumber. read more

They sent out an estimator to replace 2 spigots on my house. They quoted Mr $1700.00 to replace two water spigots. The anti siphon spigots cost $39 dollars at Home Depot. Nothing like ripping off senior citizens I guess of course the work was not given to them. No way!!!! read more

I can't speak to their plumbing services. However, our upstairs neighbor had service from them this week. I work from home and have a view out to our back deck and one of the plumbers at one point came on our first floor deck and climbed up our storage box and nicked the carabiner from one of our hanging plant chains. I figured maybe he needed it for something, not sure, and honestly it's just a carabiner, but I asked my neighbor to make sure it was returned. It wasn't. I emailed the owner of the company. No reply. So he basically stole our property. It's just a carabiner, not a big deal, but it makes me question the integrity is this company. If we needed plumbing work, this incident would make me look elsewhere and leave the company with grabby hands out of a job. read more

You have to read the fine print with this company. Called them for a plumbing emergency and like the other low-star reviews, their estimates do not match their follow up work, which you find out about only after paying the 50% down payment. I contacted my credit card company after dealing with them since Goode keeps your credit card info. My original estimate for plumbing repairs included new Moen fixtures with an updated design (screenshot of estimate attached), but when the plumbers were finished I found what they actually installed was the cheaper model pictured that's 1/3rd the cost of the one on their estimate. When I contacted Goode about this, their response was to send me a new estimate (this time with no image) charging me an extra $425 for a "special order part." It's called false advertising. I'll never call back nor recommend a company that plays such games. read more

I had Goode Plumbing come out to assess my water heater after some nearby water damage caused it to stop working. While my water heater is on the older side (8 years), I expected a professional opinion on whether it could be repaired or needed replacement. Instead, the technician barely looked at it before immediately recommending a full replacement -- without even attempting to diagnose or fix the issue. I asked about tankless options, and he became very enthusiastic, saying my setup was perfect for a tankless unit and that he could install one that same day. I told him I needed time to think about it, but instead of giving me space, he proceeded to call me multiple times throughout the day, each time more aggressively pressuring me to move forward with the install. Thankfully, I got second and third opinions from other plumbing companies. Not only were they able to get my existing water heater up and running again in under 5 minutes (yes, it was that simple), but they also told me my condo setup was not suitable for a tankless water heater due to the lack of a fresh air intake -- a critical requirement. They even explained that some companies install tankless units improperly just to make a sale, which voids the warranty and puts the customer at risk down the line. Goode didn't even attempt a repair, misrepresented my setup, and used high-pressure sales tactics to push a costly and inappropriate solution. I'm relieved I didn't fall for it. I would not recommend this company -- they were lazy, aggressive, and clearly more interested in upselling than providing honest, competent service read more

We had water leaking from our first floor bathroom to the lower level and called Goode plumbing. Two plumbers came out and told us that there was an issue with the overflow drain in our bathtub - We could either leave it and not fill the bathtub too high, or get it repaired for $2000 (including $400 to cut a diagnostic hole in our ceiling that they don't repair). We are new homeowners so we opted for the repair. Shortly after the repair was complete, the ceiling began leaking again, and it was worse. Parts of the ceiling where they cut the hole also started to collapse. I called them back and they sent two different plumbers who said that the problem was now the toilet, not the bathtub, and we would need to pay another $2000 to have that repaired. I asked to speak with someone about why we were being asked to pay another large sum of money when the first, "repair", did not fix the leak. Well, it took four days to get a call back from the first plumber despite me calling every day and explaining that water was leaking in at least 3 different places in our ceiling and that the ceiling was falling down. There seemed to be absolutely no sense of urgency or consideration for this whatsoever, and I just kept being told the technician would get back to me. The first plumber eventually called me back and told me that it was "coincidentally" a different problem occurring in the exact same place at the exact same time as the issue that they fixed. Also that the repair he did was necessary, even though he told us at the time that it was not. Needless to say, I did not feel comfortable having them come back to do another repair when the first one was unsuccessful, and they were unwilling to provide any kind of acceptable customer support. I called our regular handyman (Should have just gone to him in the first place!) and he was able to complete the repair for $400 total, including a brand new toilet. Please avoid this place, they are untrustworthy, overcharge, and do not care about their customers after they have gotten their money. They sure do spam you about leaving good reviews though! read more

Ejector pump went out at my property. Goode had a licensed plumber at my doorstep within the hour. Great individual, very nice and extremely informative. From the time of identifying the pump going out to Joey stepping out of my house, was about 2 hours. The only reason for 4 stars is that they did charge me about 1900 bux to replace the pump. I got other quotes which were a few hundred less but since this was an emergency I didnt mind paying a little extra. Also the quality of the work was unmatched, so I will recommend and will most likely be using them again. read more

We hired Goode in 2014 to install a flood control system for our single family home. The system consisted of a large ejector pump located outside under the front yard. While the field technicians appeared competent, progress was slow and management of the project was lacking. For example, once everything was installed, the project sat incomplete for several weeks with an unsightly orange AC extension cord running from our home across the lawn down to the pump. When we followed up with Goode, they appeared unaware of the issue and eventually sent out an electrician to finish the job. Also, the contract called for grass sod to be laid down upon completion, but the technician didn't bring enough sod, telling me that I could just plant grass seed on the remaining bare areas. I insisted they sod everything, per the contract. They obliged, but grudgingly. Sadly, that made our relationship with Goode feel not so much cordial as adversarial. The flood control system came with three years of free yearly maintenance and worked great. When the three years had passed, a Goode representative sold us a lifetime VIP pump and pit maintenance contract for a single upfront fee. We were pleased as the annual inspections otherwise ran in excess of $300. Unfortunately, when we tried to collect on the VIP service the following year, Goode explained that the contract applied only to indoor flood control systems, e.g., basement sump pumps, and not the system under our front yard. When I explained that we had no basement sump pump, that the VIP service was sold explicitly for our yard system, Goode then told us that the contract was sold to us by mistake. Mistakes happen right? We told Goode they could refund our money on the VIP contract and we would take our business elsewhere. Goode responded by agreeing to honor the lifetime contract. Good! I wish I could say that was the end of it, but in subsequent years Goode would periodically argue that the contract did not apply to our system, or that we had no service contract at all, obliging us to dig into our paperwork and email exchanges to prove to Goode that we indeed had a valid service contract. Once again, our relationship with Goode seemed adversarial. Which brings me to our latest experience with Goode this week. Per usual we scheduled the annual inspection (unlike other service providers we work with, we always have to make the call as there no courtesy reminder from Goode), and once again the technicians came out and attempted to collect $350 for the covered service, claiming that Goode had no record of either the service contract nor of having installed the flood control system in the first place. I told the technicians to talk to the office again, which they did, and eventually got the word that yes, Goode indeed installed the system and we had a lifetime maintenance contract. When the inspection was complete, the technicians advised me that our 10-year-old ejector pump was due to be replaced for $2,400. Fair enough, but still annoyed by the contract dispute that just occurred, I told them I wasn't going to make a decision now. Alas, later that day we received emails and a phone call from Goode wanting to know if we were going buy that pump. Talk about tone deaf. read more

I'm a repeat customer that's been burned. Beware the sales pressure and the fine print. I signed an estimate for a job on an iPad after some intense sales pressure, and eventually cancelled. I was charged $1,000 for cancelling, and another $800 for a VIP contract. I attempted to call and reason as a human, acknowledging I had signed and given a check, but was still surprised by the poor communication, and just got back "you signed it", pointing at the document they emailed me after. read more

Chris really knows what to do an it didn't take him long to tell me what needed to be done to fix the leak. Very personable, professional, and take the time to explain processes to the customer. Even if you need clarification, they don't make you feel uncomfortable to ask again. There is no "grade inflation" here. Goode Plumbing truly merits a 5 star rating. Having used Goode for a wide range of plumbing projects and repairs over the years, I am a repeat customer and know the company very well. First and foremost, they are honest about the issue and the pricing. I never feel like they are trying to put one over on me. They convey what needs to be done in simple English that someone outside the industry like me would understand. If it's a service call that required only a quick fix, they may not even charge you. Second, they are very responsive, organized, and friendly. They have enough resources and manpower to tackle the same day for routine repairs and troublefixes. Third, what they repair and install is top of the line quality and craftmanship. Even if they were to lower their standards, you still wouldn't be able to find better plumbers in Chicago. read more

I purchased a new toilet from Goode Plumbing. Within one day, they had to come back to fix an unlevel toilet that was rocking back-and-forth as you sat on it. After four months in place my neighbor in the condo below me developed a leak in their ceiling. Since it was directly above my toilet, I had Goode come back out and check their work. They had to go into my neighbors unit and cut a one and a half foot hole in their ceiling to investigate on top of removing my toilet as well. The original plumber said it appears they used too small of a wax ring and created a leak. They replaced it with a larger putty ring since the original smaller wax ring did not work. Within 24 hours, my neighbor was calling again, letting me knowthat they still are experiencing the leak into their bathroom. When I've reached out to Goode Plumbing they have been avoiding me and not wanting to correct the problem that they created. Jacob "Jake" Blanton is the Project Manager and the worst to deal with. It took me days to get through to him because I wouldn't hear back and had to chase him down. After our initial conversation he couldn't take the acknowledgment or criticism of the actions of his company and refused to talk to me via phone and would only communicate by way of email after that. Recently I had a heat pump water heater installed by Goode. They did an excellent job, first working with me to locate the best site in the garage then doing a solid professional job installing the copper piping and electrical hookup. The installation looks slick. A minor fault condition the device displayed was rapidly resolved. Kudos to Chris! Given that this is new technology, I am also comforted that Goode is a better bet than most to be around in the next decade if problems arise. I also had a badly plugged drain that (separately) was rodded after the sink had to be displaced to gain access. Vacuuming the rust out of the T connection in the wall saved me having to have the wall cut open to replace the T. The sink was returned to position and silicone sealed elegantly. Kudos to Frank! Two excellent, professional workers, and a very receptive, active front office. And they also did excellent work for me years ago dealing with a downspout issue. Goode is hardly the cheapest, but the work is of very high quality and completely professional. For me, that is a bargain. read more

This #ThankYouThursday I want to shout out Goode Plumbing. I've used them twice when I had a terrible clog in my kitchen sink. Try as I might (for hours!) I was unable to do it myself. Goode Plumbing was responsive, professional, and helpful. Each time I felt like I got a thorough diagnosis and could tell that they cared about solving my problem completely. They had to use some specialized equipment to deal with my clogs. My wife ended up greeting the techs that did our actual unclogging both times and had nothing but great things to say about them. My sinks have worked great since they worked on them. The price isn't low, but I would say they are reasonably priced for the quality of service. They replaced my injector pump. Job was not done well, I can smell sewer from the pit. I need to call them back. I can't even begin to describe the gratitude and respect that I have for Goode Plumbing. My husband and I moved into a home (as first time homeowners) a few months ago and soon noticed a sewer gas odor. The odor was hard to pinpoint and would come and go. Over roughly a month, we literally called 4 different plumbing companies to come investigate. Every single company shrugged their shoulders and said they couldn't figure it out. We eventually called Goode Plumbing and they were the first and only company that was truly invested in solving the problem for us. They quickly sent multiple plumbers to our house to investigate. Alex was the first to come by to investigate and was extremely empathic about our problem. He really listened and communicated Goode's commitment to fixing the issue. Drew came by next, and did extensive testing to examine our sewer system. He was thorough, really interested in the case, and went above and beyond doing a series of tests (including camera and smoke tests) to find a solution. Finally, Drew called in Brian who is the "Yoda" of Goode Plumbing. Brian has extensive experience over many decades, has a surgical precision to his craft, and really does methodically examine all possibilities until he reaches a diagnosis. A number of tests and a few open walls later, he found the problem!!! We had a wide open pipe coming up from our main drain line behind the wall in our mechanical room (pictured) and also a screw that was drilled right through the PVC piping. It has now been a week since Brian fixed this problem for us and our home smells so nice and fresh and clean. I also had nasal congestion for over a month that is now magically cleared up. Recent experience with Goode Plumbing was rather bad. The plumbing team that arrived did not have the correct materials, which we only discovered when they had installed a high pressure mains water valve to with the incorrect gasket, having not prepared the flanges on the existing pipes correctly. This resulted in the joints having serious leaks which, we had to leave in-place over-night while they got the materials to rectify the mistake. Given this was the mains water supply to an entire apartment building this level of preparation was not what we expected, and we are lucky it did not result in a catastrophic failure. For the price paid I expected the best, and that is not what I received. read more

I came home from a trip to find a note on the door that my downstairs neighbor could hear dripping in the hallway outside her main bathroom. We looked, but couldn't find anything in my main bathroom leaking. Later, I used the master bathroom toilet and water came gushing out below when I flushed. I turned off the water to the toilet and put a bucket under to catch any more. I called our heating and cooling company, thinking they have a plumbing service also. They said no, but they recommended Goode. I called them around 3 PM. They said they could come out the next day between 8-6, and would call 30 mins before. Next morn at 7:30 I got a call, by 8 Chip was here. In 5 mins he had assessed the problem. The toilet was old and needed replacing. I discussed new toilets I had recently looked at in Home Depot and he patiently explained why those aren't made as well anymore. He suggested several different models he could put in. I picked one of those as they will last . He had two men bring that one over while he took apart the old one. The whole thing was done by 9:30. I am pleased with the service I received and considering this was coming into a holiday, I am grateful for the quick response. read more

I'm going to be fair and say, I can't give them a rating because I did not hire them. The presentations was excellent, but they were too expensive for me. In a time when folks aren't working coming up with almost 3 grand is a bit much. And that was to put in a kitchen sink. I understand they have overhead and payroll plus a business to run, I don't begrudge the company for that. I just couldn't afford that price at this time. Maybe I can work with them in the future because they were very professional. And the owner was super nice too, I think she is the owner her name is Amanda I believe. So if you can afford the price I would suggest you hire them. It looks like I have to give a star rating, my rating is based on the price quoted for the job, not their work! read more

We got Not so Goode plumbing to come out and look at our water pressure on one of our sinks. They came out and quoted us about $600 to install a shut off valve under the sink in order to remedy the issue. This was a pretty quick job but did not fix the ultimate issue we had them come out for. The technician then said it was likely the cartridge that needed to be replaced on the faucet. He then quoted us another $600 to install this which we declined as we knew this would be an easy fix. It ended up taking me about 10 minutes to install the cartridge which did not fix it. I then searched around more and there was a filter on the faucet spout which was causing the pressure issue. The ultimate fix took no time at all and I just needed to remove the filter to get it to spray out what was clogging it. Pretty frustrating you hire a company to try and fix something that they should have noticed to begin with. They did not do a good job of assessing the issue as they could not ultimately fix it and I ended up doing it by myself. Be careful with this company as to their pricing. Not to mention we called the company to inform them of this. We spoke with one employee who said he would bring this up to his manager and nothing was ever done on their end. Pretty disappointing experience. read more

After our recent rains, we got water in our basement and our sub pump kept up, but I noticed a day later the hot water wasn't hot. It was only warm we called out Goode . They came out and explain to us that our water tank had water damage gave us a quote they're expensive but they stand behind their service and their product. Do not ever use this company. They are very responsive to have someone come out and provide a quote. They are very responsive in having someone take your credit card info and do the work. However, they "fixed" our toilet and then there was a leak in the ceiling of the floor below. Someone came out and said this was related to them incorrectly fixing the toilet above. They fixed the toilet, but someone will come out to fix the ceiling damage. They say their work is guaranteed Now, I have called for 14 days in a row and nobody has called me back. The call center says every day "all I can do is pass along the message." Do. Not. Use this company! read more

We called Goode at the recommendation of friends who had worked with them. Chip and Henry came out to install a new toilet that we had purchased ourselves. While they were on-site I also decided to have our main sewer line cleared and scoped due to some other issues we were having and they quickly sent Mike and Jared out same-day to do that work. They were on time (early, actually), were able to get the second crew out quickly, they worked fast, were extremely professional and courteous, kept me updated as the work progressed, explained things and answered questions along the way and kept things clean as they wrapped up the job. The only 'complaint' is that the work was pretty expensive. We were able to get a break on price because we hired them for multiple services, which I appreciated, but it still was not cheap. I can't say whether I'd recommend Goode for more extensive or complicated work given the given the straightforward nature of what we had done and the cost. However, I can say that that I definitely appreciated their team's customer service, professionalism, and attention to detail in the work they did for us and will strongly consider them the next time we need a plumber. read more

Very impressed with the work and responsiveness of Good Plumbing. We hired them to work on my parents' house after considering at least 4 other plumbing companies who, frankly, left us feeling as if we were being either taken advantage of or weren't responsive to our needs. Thankfully, this was not the case with Goode Plumbing. After explaining the situation and what we were looking for, they had a technician come in right away to assess the situation and make recommendations. They did a great job of explaining the work to be done. We also had many follow-up questions which they answered promptly. They gave us a very fair quote for the work they planned to do and after agreeing to it, they had guys on-site in a few days and completed the project in less than two days, which we were very happy about.
