Extremely disappointed this neat little place has changed so much. They had a very claustrophobic tent covering the patio. As strict as they are with Covid rules here, you'd think they would remove these for fresh air. What bothered me the most was the fact that you have to order AND pay online. I don't like to enter my cc online anywhere! It's also annoying having to walk inside and talk to the staff about the different types of wines in a flight. There is literally NO customer service! I want the interaction of a helpful server. The cheese board tray was disappointing as well for $15. There was no hard cheese to go with the meats and there was more bread than meat and cheese. Went here with my friends bachelorette party and it was perfect! They treated the bride to a glass of champagne on the house which was so sweet! They offer glasses, bottles, and flights of wine. They also have some food options as well as a few wine cocktails. The atmosphere, especially outside, is sooo cute and cozy. When we went on a Friday night there was live music which was also enjoyable. The staff was super nice and very informative about the wine, but had fun with it. But I would recommend you get there before 7 just to make sure because it started to fill up after that time. Tons of outdoor seating in the front yard. Lots of little two and four top tables all around. And the outdoor area has a high fence to help separate from the street and other restaurants around. On some nights, they have a musician play for the patio guests. Huge wine list! You can get individual glasses, bottles, or flights. I recommend the flight so you can try different things. I got the perfectly pinot flight, but they have ones for both red and white lovers. Great staff there that can help you pick a good wine as well. This place is a gem. The outside patio has everything you need for an intimate date or a get together with friends. I hadn't been in awhile and noticed that they built a long bench along the fence which is a perfect addition. We had a bottle of wine and a charcuterie plate. Both were delicious. The weather was perfect to sit on the patio. They turned on the heaters as the chill came into the January evening. Live music started and it made the evening that much better. I really enjoyed my visit to this quaint wine house. There is cozy, unique seating inside and patio seating outside. We decided to sit out on the patio since there was a nice breeze that evening. We started with a bottle of Rose, followed up with some charcuterie with extra cheeses, and ended with a glass of Sauvignon Blanc. Everything we tried was delicious. The charcuterie was the highlight and I was able to add on the types of cheese I preferred, which I appreciated. The online ordering system is a little funky and takes a moment to get used to, but once you figure out how to pull up the menu, order, sign up as a customer, and then pay for your meal, you're good to go. First time here! I was craving wine and wanted to go somewhere for a few glasses and a bite to eat. I went in alone on a Friday night around 9pm and sat at a small table outside. They also have seating inside, but no bar, so I elected to sit outside and enjoy the fresh air. This is a very cute little house with a nice atmosphere in the front. They also had a guy playing live music. My waitress came to me immediately to take my drink order. I ordered a white wine flight and let her know that I would want to order food in a few minutes. A few minutes later, I received my flight. It was OK. I didn't love it, but didn't hate it either. I did love the presentation and I love the idea of a wine flight, so if I go back, I'll definitely try a different one. Unfortunately, it took at least 30 minutes for my waitress to come back and by then I had already gotten up to ask for help. I ordered the salmon plate, which sounded a lot better than it tasted. Another OK taste experience for me. Lastly, I ordered a sparkling rose' before leaving. This was the best thing I tasted, but still nothing special. This place is adorable. I've been coming here for years and it was so very good. The wines were great, as well as the snacks and boards. The last couple times I've been here have been disappointing. The wines are not good and all went way up in price. The music is suddenly very loud rap music with expletives not conducive to the sweet ambience of the past few years. The hosts used to be so friendly and laid back. Not the case anymore with the rude uppity hostess that has changed the entire vibe. I'm so sad about this place no longer first on my list. One of the worst places I've been in Austin after 6 years of living here. It took 25 minutes for someone to come take our order. Once our waitress came to take our order, we were informed that the pizza we wanted to order was "premade" so we couldn't modify it. We ordered anyway hoping for the best. It took another 30 min for them to bring our appetizer of "marinated mozzarella" which ended up being the pre made balls of mozz from the grocery store with pre made dips AND it came without the chips or bread listed on the menu. Why did this take 30min to make? Great question. The pretzel bites then came out.... Clearly frozen. Then the pizza came. Y'all- this pizza was worse than Tostitos. My wife and I were in Austin to spend 3 days at the Austin City Limits Festival. We stopped at House Wine for an after concert drink and a snack and had the worst experience of our entire visit to Austin. The $15 glasses of wine were marginal and the $30 charcuterie board was a total joke. The tiny sample of meat and cheeses were served on a small ceramic plate with no imagination. A 3 year old could have served up a better and more worthy charcuterie board than this pricey letdown. My son passed by the kitchen only find them microwaving the other "culinary" offerings. We're glad we were able to make it to House Wine on our trip to Austin. On Sundays, they have 50% off glasses of wine for wines that were opened the night before, Saturday. As they run out of each wine, they cross off the menu. I think they will be able to run more efficiently if they digital-lized their wine list on a screen. That way guests can think about what they want to order while waiting in line. The lines tends to get really long hence causing indoors to feel cramped. Nestled behind P. Terry's, House Wine is a quaint and intimate place with outdoor seating and two tiny rooms with plenty of comfortable seating. The staff are nice. The small seed biscuit reminds me of a scone texture and the flavor was excellent. The Mmmmpanada was mm-mm-good with spinach wrapped around a goat cheese center. It wasn't too salty. If I could change one thing working there, I would tell first-timers that the dish only has two mini empanadas even though they are indeed an appetizer. I loved this place so much. I wish we had something like this back where I live! Ok, they have their own parking lot but there's plenty of street parking too. When we first walked in there was a front patio with heaters and cute lights hanging and live music. Inside you go up and place your order. The staff seemed to know their stuff and answered any questions. If you want something more chill and intimate you go to their back house. It's so cute and the ambiance is great (especially for dates!). The bartender there was awesome! The back house menu is condensed compared to the main house FYI. After spending the day in Austin (celebrating the last few days of summer vacation), we decided to stop and wait for traffic to die down before heading back to San Antonio. Enter House Wine. Located in an adorable little house, House Wine has an inviting, intimate atmosphere. The dog-friendly front patio is shady and wasn't too hot even with mid-August temps. The interior is dark, cozy and beautiful. The service was great and the wine selection was impressive. They have food, too, but we didn't eat anything since we had already eaten dinner. I did notice lots of patrons with cheese plates that looked amazing. I've definitely got to try one of their food offerings next time we're in town! There's a parking lot on the side and street parking as well. I'm so glad we discovered House Wine and will be back when we're in Austin again! read more
