We did a full kitchen remodel in April 2026. Dan was our project manager and he did a great job organizing all the subcontractors and communicating the timeline with us. We started with a design meeting and we were able to see what the final design would look like. They took measurements and generated the design on the spot. The renderings matched the final product very, very closely. Throughout the process Dan would check in every day to ensure progress was happening at an acceptable pace. They even worked on one weekend to make sure we could meet our original cabinet delivery date (the city ran later than expected with when they could do their inspection, which put us behind). They worked around all our time constraints as well and were super flexible. From an original timeline of 8 weeks, we were actually able to finish in 5 weeks, even with a full rewire of added scope. This was only possible (I think) because Dan lined up all the subcontractors so well with no wasted days. There was someone working everyday, pretty much all day. I appreciated having input through the whole process, especially in picking all the finishes and appliances. We picked out our own finishes and Dan helped us to find savings where possible, which helped to keep the whole project (including add-ons) under the original estimates (without the additional scope like the rewire) we got from other companies. We recently built an ADU in our backyard with HQ Remodeling & Design, and honestly it was a really solid experience. Before going with them, we met with a few other contractors, but HQ just felt more dialed in. Tali came back after a few months to touch base with me on what they could do to "fix" things. We went over a few problems, even though the cracks are unavoidable due to the shifting of the ground and the slope of our yard, she was able to power wash and clean the old curb that we had. There were weeds sprouting out and was taken care of. They added the weed barrier to the spot to prevent growth. Martin came and marked the spots for our drain so we know where the water would flow when it rains. They didn't really have to do this, but it's what sets them apart from other companies. Fast forward 3 months after all the rain has passed, some issues unfortunately came up. This is very unfortunate and I wish the review update had been on a more positive side. Drainage had been discussed originally but the subcontractor had said we could do without so there was originally no drainage. With the ample amount of rain this year, it was clear that drainage should have been installed. Because of all that, there was a lot of back and forth. To respond to " unseen cost ", yes the " unseen cost " was clearly in the contract but the job was done with the subcontractor's judgment without communication to the project manager nor to the property owners. At the end of the day, there were lots of headaches but the job was done and we are now content with our backyard. A lot of the issues could have been prevented if there had been more cohesiveness in terms of all who were supposed to be involved in the execution of the project. read more

We had a landscaping project involving our front and backyard. We met with project manager Ben, who we liked a lot. He is the reason we decided to go with HQ. Once the project started, work went at a pretty good clip. Concrete was demolished, and pavers were installed in the driveway and out back. Fencing was added to the top of our brick wall, along with planters. Our old, rotting patio cover was removed, and a new one was installed. The only hiccup was that the patio cover leaked a little when it rained, but Ben worked with us on that until it was fixed to our satisfaction. We shopped around several contractors before we met Sean and his team. He was the first to actually sit and listen to us to get to understand our ideas and what we're looking for. Then he put our ideas on paper and started filling in the blanks of what was missing to get to our end result the way we wanted. We ended up doing a full renovation of our 2 bd/1 ba 768 sq ft home to a 3 bd/2 ba ~1,400 sq ft home and converted our garage to an ADU. They did everything by the book and guided us to make the smart proper decisions to give the most long-term value to our property instead of any shortcuts for the ADU. Our full lot was down to the studs and everything was rebuilt with lots of options that we didn't think about or realize. Sean did an exceptional job all around and for phase 3, the landscaping/yard, they did a full computer rendering design for us just because they wanted us to have something to see in the future. My spouse and I both believe that HQ paid attention to details and brought up many items that we didn't notice. We definitely learned alot from this process in regard to our first renovation and I thank Sean for his guidance and honesty throughout the 1Yr+ process. I hired HQ Remodeling via Yard Zen's recommendation. From the very start, Tali was incredibly responsive, kind, helpful, and showed up often. When I received quotes from other contractors, they missed a ton of details and left out things. Tali did a great job of including the majority of what I was asking for, getting quick answers, and working to find pricing and solutions for different add-ons / changes (and I made many). The quality of the work was good - the turf looks great, the drip irrigation system works well, they were flexible to change out a few things for others, and at least one of the workers in each group spoke English, which was really helpful. Overall, I'm happy with how my yards turned out and mostly happy about my interactions with Tali, who was a great sport through some crazy twists and turns on the project. If it weren't for Tali, I likely would have given 4 stars just because they were pretty expensive and rigid on additional costs, but Tali helped smooth over the issues and was communicative, detailed, and even keeled. ____ A few notes / ways to improve - Additional Costs: Most of my frustrations through the process were around the additional charges when scope wasn't super clear - not an uncommon issue with any contractor. After paying $76k for a remodel, I felt a little nickle-and-dimed for little changes at the end - the "office" was rigid and worked by set line item costs rather than customizing costs to the need / allow a few things to be included. I had to advocate for myself often amidst the regular price increases with scope clarification. - Stucco (problem was fixed): The stucco work had some issues that required it to be patched and painted, which I was charged material costs for, but they covered labor costs, after negotiating on pricing. I appreciated they wanted to make sure I was happy, so I respect that they offered at least for the labor on the remedy to be free. - Design Help: I didn't get too much design help since I had a plan from Yard Zen. They walked the property with me and did the paint to show where the turf / rock would go, but it would be nice to have gotten updated renderings and talk more specifically about plant placement, as I just kind of winged that. Other contractors I got bids from were very design-focused which I liked, but ultimately, I felt I would get better service from HQ. - Contract Expectations: My advice to anyone working with HQ (and any contractor for that matter) is to spend a ton of time getting VERY specific in your contract on your exact expectations (even down to measurements, type of materials, timeline, etc), and print that out so you have access (it kept expiring, so it was hard to review). read more

In August of 2021 we purchased our first single family home in Huntington Beach and knew we wanted to put in an outdoor kitchen and patio cover for some shade. We met with multiple contractors right before Christmas to discuss options and decided to move forward with HQ. Emma 100% sold us with her professionalism, HQ's quality of work, and their willingness to work with the city on making sure every aspect of the project was done up to code and permitted. It was important that we not take any shortcuts with this project and HQ did not disappoint! We were able to share our design ideas and their designer put together beautiful 3D renderings to give us a sense of what was possible. HQ's team then put together the plans and engineering for the patio structure which were submitted to the city for approval. While working with the city did slow things down a bit, Emma was on top of it every day, and once the plans were approved Alejandro and his crew got to work bringing the project to life. We went with two massive 10' islands in the outdoor kitchen. Each island has concrete countertops with a waterfall edge. We completed the kitchen with built-in BBQ, pizza oven, cabinets for storage, and two beverage coolers. The center island with bar seating has beautiful pendant lights for additional outdoor lighting, and Nelson hard-wired two outdoor heaters to the patio structure providing additional heat when things cool down in the evening. The patio structure is made out of 4K aluminum and came out better than we could have imagined. The cover is 10' tall and has a 3" lattice that extends the entire length of the outdoor space. We wanted a clean modern look to go with the style of our house and wanted to add a privacy screen behind the outdoor kitchen to give the space an outdoor room-type feel even though the patio is not fully enclosed. The lattice provides just enough sun and just enough shade that we can use our backyard any time of day, all year round. Emma was great with scheduling work to be done as well as scheduling inspections by the city. Her communication throughout the process was exactly what we needed to feel confident that things were moving along and getting completed. Rapha was great at routinely stopping by to check the progress of the project and communicating any concerns we had back to HQ. We are so grateful for their involvement in getting this project completed. In total from conceptualizing the design to completion of the project, it took about 8 months. The biggest delays were the city's approval of the engineering and plans which took about 8 weeks and supply chain issues which delayed the patio material about 12 weeks (neither of these were at the fault of HQ). Aside from that, we could not believe how fast the rest of construction went, and we appreciated that even though we had to wait for the patio cover material, we were still able to enjoy our backyard because the rest of construction was done in less than 6 weeks. I ended consulting with my brother who offered some great creative feedback. Also, some of my feedback had to be reiterated a few times before they made it onto the design. If you use their design team, just be sure you know exactly what you want and they will put a great 3D design together for you. - I would recommend keeping a close eye on materials purchased and maybe even ask for a clear list at the very beginning. At one point we had to change some stuff because the materials purchased didn't make sense to me. You should ask a lot of questions because they don't always explain every little thing to you but you will have to live with the finished product afterwards. So it's good to know what they're doing, using and how they're installing it. - While my project was completed ahead of schedule, it did seem like the momentum died down near the end of the project as some of the crew members were starting a new project. Not sure if this was the main cause for some of the blemishes that we had to redo, but things did feel rushed near the end. Sadly we are not happy with HQ remodeling at all. If you are looking for a project to be done correctly, on time, and like to be respected.. this company is not for you. We were estimated our back yard project to be done within 2-3 weeks. it needed up being a 7 1/2 week project. After one crew was fired with multiple issues and multiple days of not showing, a second crew came in to finish the first part of our project. They had to redo all the pavers the first crew did ( which was a lot) because nothing was level. We had plans of doing wood beams from one side of our house to the garage. The men that showed up for this job hardly even worked and was told wrong information. We now have giant holes in the sides of our house because of this. The mounts that were "custom made" looked like something that was just whacked with a hammer. We did not proceed with the beams since they said they couldn't meet our satisfaction. We were left with the multiple holes they drilled. After weeks of not hearing from anyone about the rest of the amount we owed. Michael was rude to my husband and threatened to put a lean on our house. We also were offered $400 off the cost of this disappointing project to not post anything bad about them. For the amount of money we planned on spending this is not the outcome we were looking for. As for professionalism... Michael was nice in the start of the project. But as issues arose he became rude and defensive. The lack of communication was awful. I tried to reach out for the owner but he never responded. We had high hopes for this project and company and came out VERY disappointed. I highly would not recommend. read more

David was the only contractor from day one that gave me an estimate and a vision ( he's pretty handy with his laptop sketching apps ) and fulfilled his promise to assist with back yard ADU and succeeded in more ways then one. Our ADU is immaculate. Not only that they educate you on the entire process with communication that is second to none. You will see 5 stars across the board for HQ Remodeling. After this experience I have gained a Living unit for guests and in-laws Gorgeous bathroom, living room, dining room, kitchen cabinets, and friends. I decided to hire HQ after they did for us a beautiful 3d design for our kitchen and bathroom. The estimate was competitive and I felt comfortable working with the project manager Sean. This project was with many details and a few changes along the way (we changed our mind several times) and Sean made sure we make the right decisions that will be practical and will save us money. The final result is stunning. We love our new kitchen and we can finally use our remodeled bathroom. We thank HQ and Sean and recommend them as a good and reliable contractor. read more

Tali & Lisa worked with us along the many months it took for our complete backyard revamp (most of the delays coming from a separate engineer and city approval process). HQ Remodel handled building two new retaining walls, regrading, installed porcelain pavers, new grass, fixed the turf that had been badly installed by our gardeners, had new electrical outlets placed, new in-ground lighting etc. They were super responsive and came at least once a week when work was happening to check up on everything and take pictures to report back to the main office. We'll very likely work with them again when we have to redo the front of our house in a couple of years! read more

This review is long overdue, we've been enjoying our backyard for a few months now. We worked with Tali and Lisa throughout the whole process and couldn't have been happier with their help. They were clear and delivered their promises on what they would do, what timeline we could expect, and what the cost of our choices were throughout the whole process. We felt like rather difficult clients due to our changing opinions with what we wanted and our limited availability, but Tali and Lisa happily met our every request. There was a great balance between being able to communicate our own vision while being guided on design decisions that might work better. Overall, great experience and we would go back to work with HQ Remodeling in a heartbeat.... so long as Tali and Lisa came, too. The contractor, Martin, was also incredible as was the turf company they recommended.... no complaints to speak of. Thanks again!
