We ordered dinner from Hub's last week and I ordered The shirt steak sandwich. I couldn't believe what they called a steak sandwich. The steak was thinner than a pice of paper, I have never in my life seen a steak cut so thin! It was like they sliced it with a lunch meat cutter. So I love their Lincoln location, was happy to know they have a location within the hospital at Northwestern Memorial however they don't take cash and the young latin Guy wasn't the friendly person I'm using seeing at the Lincoln location. I was here 2 days ago and spent $10.76 on a "Hubs Sub" they call a large drink and fries. To quote Spinal Tap " I dont know where to start." First off the employees and the owner are the most un-frendly looking and acting people I have ever seen! They need to be reminded that they are being paid by the coustomer. The sub sandwich upon my diss-assembly of the unit and cataloging of its contents revealed: 2 slices of pressed generic white meat..I guess it was ment to be passed off as turkey. 2 slices of generic square ham which seemed to have been sitting around on the shelf too long. 2 slices of provolone cheese which was old and dry! 2 slices of flavorless tomatoes Verry little shredded lettuce And a soggy roll which measured 7'' long { I guess they are going for the wow factor on the length of the bread. My beverage { cola?} was in a cup which was full of ice so they would not have to spare 25 cents of product, I got verry little product! My fries seemed to have been in the bottom of the fryer too long they were all small bits and dry. To sum it up, in no way was my meal worth the $10.76 I paid or it. At the most it was worth $5.99! I like this place. It's a quirky old Greek place. It's connected or it used to be connected with another location that is on Dempster but supposedly the two Brothers didn't want to be in business anymore. This location seems to have less Greek items. They don't have pastitsio or moussaka or spanakopita. But their Greek chicken is great. The old lady that seems to run the place is a little funny and sort of odd. If you ask her what the deserts are she sort of grumbles in a heavy Greek accent that she doesn't know what they are. I'm like what the heck? How do you not know what all the cakes are in your counter? Didn't you buy them after all? And haven't you been running this place for 30 or 40 years? I think that she just gets a little grumpy and it's pretty comical so I made fun of her a little bit and then she laughed. The food is really good here so try the place. OK, well, here's what I got when I opened the wrapper at home: a very flat sandwich with overly moist rye bread with... unexpectedly.. glops (that's a technical term meaning 'miscellaneous chunks, portions, bits, leftovers or lumps') of what sort-of looked like corned beef. The Vienna Beef people, I don't think, supply this restaurant, at least I sure hope not, even though the woman behind the counter said "sure, we use Vienna Corned Beef.. I'll check... yep..". Riiiiiight. What she might have really forgot to say was they just don't use it in their -sandwiches-. Or something. Other patrons I queried, a couple on a Honda, said the chicken kabobs were [expletive deleted] great, though, so perhaps I'll try those next time. But I'm an infrequent diner there so that prolly won't happen for quite a while, I've better things to do and better sandwiches to consume elsewhere. Oh, OK, I forgot, sorry. Tried the chili. I had a chicken gyro, which basically was chicken breast sauteed in a pan with a little salt, sliced and thrown on a pita with some iceberg lettuce and tomato. WHAT?!?! Best fries ever. Been going there since I was a kid! Great community restaurant. The staff is friendly, the atmosphere is nice. Great seating and love the clear open windows bringing in natural lighting. In the summer they have outdoor seating. Plenty of parking, if not in the lot then near by. My first visit to Hub's was 7 years ago!! The prices have slighted inflated since then but the food is still as good as my first time. Hubs is best known for their gyros and they are excellent! I actually come here for the grilled chicken salad. It comes with a pita bread so you can create your own chicken pita sandwich. I also make sure to get an extra side of ranch. I onced ordered the Italian beef just to hear the famous "You like-a da juice?" line. It was great and so worth it =) Hub's seems like a family owned restaurant that has been doing extremely well. Hub's also makes fresh desserts which are quite delicious too! If you're ever in Lincoln Square and looking for some good greek food that is reasonably priced, come to Hub's! read more

Great neighborhood restaurant- Gyros are grand, Ribs are delicious, chicken is so good it melts in your mouth. There is parking and you can also carry-out. Plenty of seating in the restaurant as well. Hub's reminds you of a fast food place, but with delicious food. I have been going to Hubs for years. I will say they had good portions for a bit higher priced plates in that area. BUT this weekend I had a taste for a grilled chicken caesar salad. usually they give you a hearty amount of chicken and the dressing is great! I haven't been there since the summer, but I never had a problem. What a disappointment!!! Not only was my chicken still a bit pink and cold, the lettuce was iceberg, the croutons so tiny i barely saw them. WOW!! I took it back to cook the chicken longer and waited an additional 20 plus minutes to get it back. I know they changed the quality of the entire salad. and my friend had the gyro..dont get it!!! Meat is bad with an after taste and the onions tasted spoiled..YUCK, never again!!! I came here for lunch with a few friends and I was happy that being in the city, there was a parking lot. We walked in and the space was bigger inside than it appeared outside. I decided to go with an italian beef sandwich. It was pretty good-better than usual italian beefs that I've had. It was moist, flavorful and big. I could have eaten it in two meals (but I'm a light eater). My friends seemed to enjoy their food as well, they got burgers and hotdogs. I've been eating at Hubs for over 20 years, and have never been disappointed. This place is a glorified fast food joint that has a decent selection of grilled goodies as well. I've eaten more slabs of ribs from hubs than any other place around. They aren't the best in the city or anything, but they are really good and one of the cheapest around. They have a big selection of gourmet burgers , from mushroom and Swiss, to patty melts, to your big ole standard cheeseburger. They have steaks , chops , and kabobs (this place is obviously Greek owned) There is only counter service ,but that suits me just fine. They have Grecian and BBQ half chicken and both are consistently good (probably the better ones I've eaten). They of course have Gyros and really , what else do they need. Everything I have ever eaten here has been at least pretty good .You can get some deli sandwiches , but I've never ordered one. They also have a bunch of dessert choices , but honestly , I am almost always too full for dessert. I rave about this place with the vigor of someone that has been drinking the Hubs koolaid for 2 decades . I will definitely be the old guy sitting in the corner of this place in another 20 years , dusting off a plate of their ribs. read more
