Dude, went in for the hype. A lot of people have talked about this place. That gives it a star. Once I came in, I got serious bowling alley vibes. It smelled like Sizzlers in 1992, old smoke, faint smell of burned food, and yuck. I looked, smelled, and felt past it. I sat down with a friend, and let me tell you THIS!: there were litterally buggers smugged on the half-wall booth that we sat at. My utensils were Disgusting, and when she (my waitress) brought back the utensils, she had them in her hand with water on it. She literally rinsed it off! Omg!!! Just a wonderful place to eat. It has warm & welcoming family feel. I always come during bfast - with my mother and with my coworkers. It's truly a diamond in Burien. I have never been disappointed. Food is always awesome, portions and price area great. Staff are always friendly. It can get busy on weekends so plan ahead. Check the rush hour times. Eating AT the restaurant is a lot better than ordering take out...we got 2 mountain mans, both with a meat and cheese added. We ordered the same thing so it would be easier, although each mountain man had different variations. One with Corned beef and cheese with crisp hashbrowns, the other with chorizo and cheese and country potatoes. The meat in both was hard to find and when found, the corned beef was very chewy and stringy and there was no cheese whatsoever in either. The food was cold when picked up, we were there before the order was ready so it should have been at least warm...nothing was crispy and it tasted like they just put frozen ingredients together and mixed it up and warmed it in the microwave... this was very disappointing. This is the third time we have tried ordering their takeout and it hasn't been going well. Does anyone know if this place is under new management? We normally come after church on Sundays and haven't been in a few months with summer festivities etc. The food is always decent and consistent. Our go tos are the chicken fried steak, the egg skillet and pancakes. Today, I branched out and got the grilled chicken sandwich with the corn chowder. It was delicious. The rest of the family got their usual the egg skillet and pancakes. I was surprised as to how fast we were seated and how fast the food came out. No complaints. I am wondering if the restaurant is under new management, the lady who is normally at the front desk (shorter, dark hair, glasses) wasn't there and it was kind of nice. We have dined at Huckleberry Square for many, many years and enjoyed it every time. All of my reviews have been at 5 starts and well deserved. But... since some time ago the service has been taking a huge dive over time. From missing food items on orders while dining in and even ordering out. The last two times the food has been under cooked (order meat well done and it is has not even made it to rare...yuck. Then there are wrong food items received or missing all together. I been here couple times. My experience was ok. But one morning, its Thurs.. Our server is friendly and nice however it feel like she's rushing us and her customer.. One incident her regular customer come and ask if there's any good deal and she blur out that ur only getting 5$ oatmeal. The customer said I can get a better deal and she ask where and embarrass the customer and the server went to one of the customer and tell her basically this is what u get for that price.. First of all, the server should just explain to the customer that they don't have those kinda deal.. Was driving around looking for a spot to have lunch. Really was craving a burger. Found this spot with this monster burger. A full pound burger. Couldn't finish it, but was definitely cooked perfect. French fries were delicious as well. Wife had the French toast and enjoyed the French bread that was used. Definitely would come visit again if ever in Seattle. read more

They were diligent about enforcing social distancing; they had hand sanitizer at the entrance and a voluntary/optional contact tracing log. My first time here, I enjoyed a fabulous breakfast scramble. The fluffy eggs mixed with delish veggies and hash-browns. Also waitress Peyton, was very friendly and her customer service with a smile was great. She was on the ball especially when we ordered a few sides along with our meal. I'll be back for sure to try some other items especially the pie. This is now my go to place. BLT is decent though another strip of bacon would have made it mind blowing. I've been going to this place since I was a kid, and it's pretty much like eating at a diner. Breakfast was pretty good, the waiter tried to remember our order without writing it down but you could tell he was struggling so finally he decided to write it down which was a good idea. I have no doubt that he probably is good at memorizing what people want but as impressive as that CAN be, I would rather you just write it down and get it right. I don't think they've changed anything in 30 years so it's a little rundown but it'll always remind me of home so I have a special place in my heart for it. Oh dear. I wish I didn't feel compelled to update this rating but... The last few times I've ordered from here, they always mess up the order (even after confirming it on the phone). There is *always* something missing, and never an apology for messing up an order. Last time, it was cheese in my omelette (...how one forgets that, I don't know). Usually it's a side. Sigh. I was a first timer here and I can definitely say I will be coming back. The first thing that surprised my BF and I was the prices!! Everything was almost under $12. The menu has a nice "diner" style variety. Omelets and pancakes, sandwiches, burgers and steaks. We started off with the chili fries since we noticed others around us ordering them. My BF ordered the patty melt and I ordered the country fried steak and eggs. The portions were large and both under $11. My meal came with a side of the huckleberry streusel cake which was so fresh and warm. And to top it all off our waitress was amazing!!! So sweet and friendly. Honestly just wasn't that good. I had high expectations with all the "Best Restaurant In Washington" awards hung up all over the place. Got takeout. Wait time was quick only 10 minutes. I got the eggs Benedict, biscuit and gravy for my gf, and a strawberry milkshake. The eggs Benedict was probably the worst thing I had; the bread was soggy as well with the hash browns, and super hard eggs. Ham was rubbery. Biscuits were alright but nothing to be that excited about. Milkshake was the literal representation of "milk" and "shake": tasted like strawberry flavored milk that they just shook a bunch in a jar, way too watery. Didn't finish that or any of the food. Spent $40 on those 3 things lol. Will not be returning. Edit: also forgot to mention that they gave us a bag that was leaking on the bottom we didn't notice when they handed it to us. I see this as a local Denny's. The food can be OK, and then just average. Went there the other day with a group of disabled seniors. One of the women had a French dip sandwich and asked if she could have two or three onion rings, instead of the french fries, but not a full order of onion rings. The waitress said yes, but she was charged for a full order. The $10 for onion rings was a 10th of her monthly spendable income. I other friends, particularly like some of the omelettes, the waffle and burgers. I was very disappointed in the French dip sandwich. read more

As I've stated before, this is usually my go to place for Sunday brunch before the boyfriend heads to work. I always order the same thing--corn beef scramble and the plate size pancake. I always look forward to pancake to share. I was really disappointed today though. When our server came to order I told her my regular order--pointing at the items I wanted... when she had brought out my scramble and my boyfriend's steak and eggs and walked away, we noticed that she had not brought out the pancake. When we flagged her down and mentioned the pancake she looked a bit surprised and told us that she'd "check on it." For the next 15 minutes or so that we finished the food that was in front of us; not once did Lisa come by and/or tell us anything about the pancake or even check up on us. We eventually gave up and had to look for her for our check. And what do you know, there were no pancakes on the receipt.. Huckleberry Square has been my family's breakfast haunt for the past few years. It's relatively close to my house, the food's pretty good, and the prices are inexpensive. Perfect greasy spoon in my book. Well, this past weekend, we sat behind a group of old white dudes who were approximately in their 70s and 80s. My husband overheard them speaking and gestured for me to listen in as well. We aren't normally eavesdroppers, but when someone's loudly spouting intensely racist and bigoted nonsense, you bet we're going to listen to what they have to say. They spoke about how the "blacks and browns" were ruining our country by breeding with their grandchildren and making biracial babies. Asians were an exception because we were well behaved and intelligent and basically knew our place (ughhhh, the whole model minority stereotype). My Caucasian husband was about to lean back and give them a piece of his mind when their server walked over and started telling a "joke" about a cross-dressing man. They all guffawed at how hilarious and disgusting trans people were, and the server mentioned how disgusted she felt whenever she couldn't tell the gender of her customers. Disgusted and heartbroken at the fact that hatred is so prevalent, even in "progressive" Seattle, my husband, toddler and I walked out and vowed never to go back to Huckleberry again. Dealing with racist patrons is one thing, but knowing that the restaurant employs bigots is another. read more

The quality of food is great it's unfortunate to see some of the negative reviews of this place as far as the quality of food however, we had no problems. This was a Yelp mobile selection after we found our target place to be out of business... what a fail! I could not eat my french toast and fruit. The fruit was rotten and the french toast gummy in a strange way. The coffee was burnt and while I tried to tell the waitress, the bus people who brought the coffee around for refills didn't speak enough English to understand that I wanted a new cup. It was very frustrating. The woman at the next table (who brought her own coffee) nodded her head at me and said, "we have all tried, it doesn't do any good." That said, it's comfy like a well worn sweater and the food, luxe diner, was solid. The clumsy bus boy delivered my 2/3 filled class with a loud thump, but service improved from there.
