TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE AND SERVER CHANGED MY TIP WITHOUT ME KNOWING!! went at 3pm on a monday, just me and my fiancé. we were the ONLY people there, so it should not have been any trouble to serve us. girl didn't have ANY customer service skills. I had 2 major problems here. my first problem is that other than taking our order and bringing us our food she did not come back to our table. she stood in the back doing whatever. she did not come around she did not ask us if everything looked good and such, she quickly asked us what we wanted, put the plates down and bolted to the back. never saw her so never got the opportunity to ask for anything (ketchup, refill, etc.) TERRIBLE customer service and we were the only customers there in the middle of the day!!!!! now here is my biggest issue: I am a strong believer in tipping because I know servers do not get paid great and they rely on tips. even though I was not happy with her service I clicked the 18% tip option (I tip higher than that though when i'm happy with someone's service.) I noticed that the bill raised significantly higher than I had thought it would, but I thought maybe I had done my mental math wrong, and I had already paid and I was just ready to leave at that point. I asked for my receipt, just because I wanted to know what happened.. and after leaving, I looked at the receipt and noticed that she changed my tip. she was fumbling with the card reader before I had finished paying for it, apologizing for it "being slow." looking at the receipt now.. I calculated it and my tip was changed and instead of tipping her 18%, my tip was changed to 30%. I don't know if every server does this, but that server is definitely a scammer. Disgusting. Service was terrible. Water tasted like Lysol. So much grease from hash browns and omelet it was a pool on my plate. Literally grease was dripping down my hand as I asked for a flour tortilla to go with my omelet vs toast or biscuit. Just yuck, yuck, yuck. We had to leave our table to go hunt down the ketchup and hot sauce as our server never came back to check on us after food was delivered. Avoid at all costs, Tennessee has better. This is my review of the Huddle House restaurant located at 105 Fast Lane, Baxter, TN 38544. I have had good experience with the Huddle House restaurant in Savannah, TN and, on my trip down from CT to TN, decided to wait for a Huddle House and skip more than three Waffle House restaurants so we could eat at a Huddle House. We arrived at the Baxter, TN restaurant at approximately 1:30PM on Thur. December 8, 2022 off interstate 81 and ordered our meal. The waitress was friendly and took our order. I ordered biscuits and gravy, two eggs, coffee and a bowl of grits. My son ordered a Philly steak omelet and hot cocoa with whipped cream. The coffee arrived and the waitress asked if I would like sugar and creamer. I said yes (why did she ask? everywhere else this was a given...). The coffee and hot chocolate and creamer and sugar arrived with no spoon to mix the sugar and cream. I flagged down the waitress (why should I have to?) and asked for a spoon.... The main dish finally arrived; my son's omelette and my biscuits and gravy, 2 eggs and grits. My son said the Philly Steak omelette was fine. For me, the grits were lumpy and the egg I ordered "sunny side up" was overcooked. In fact, the egg yolk on the bottom third was cooked solid and the white was cooked solid but was supposed to be runny."Runny side up" is the way they describe them in the menu. I got two overcooked "sunny"side up eggs that looked more like "over easy". After our main dishes were served we had to wait for the waitress to return so she could bring us some utensils to eat our meal with. This seemed to take forever and the waitress seemed more interested in chit-chat with another female employee at the lunch counter than getting us some utensils to eat our food while it's getting cold. By the time we got our utensils, my biscuits and gravy was cold, my (overcooked) eggs were cold and my son's omelette was cold. After finishing our meal I informed the waitress that I would not pay for the grits (and I did not eat them) because they were horrible with lumps the size of grapes. I was offered a second bowl of grits but the lumps were the same and I did not eat them. They did not charge me for the grits. Aside from the terrible food and service I would like to say that the waitress was friendly and seemed like it was her first day with no supervision or training (I mean who forgets to bring silverware to the customer?) She spent more time chit-chating with other employees than she ever spent serving our table. Lastly was the condition of the restaurant building. We were having a heavy rain and the roof was leaking on the floor behind our table. Can't they get the roof fixed? Also, the deadbolt to the men's room was defective and nearly impossible to lock. The restroom is a single use "one holer" and, if I need to take a dump, don't want someone barging in on me. Afterwards, if you do manage to get the deadbolt locked, it difficult to get it unlocked to get back to your table. The front wall of the restaurant was partially caved in. I do not fault the restaurant for some idiot driving their car through the front of the restaurant and causing massive damage. Of course, this is not their fault and I hope they can get the damage repaired ASAP. And finally, there is a big "no weapons allowed" on the front door going in. So....is this supposed to prevent mass killers from entering the restaurant? The way I see it is that the sign should really read: "To all mass murderers, No one inside is armed. Please feel free to murder all customers and staff with impunity and with no chances that you will be repelled by an armed citizen." Doesn't that make you feel safer? Is this corporate policy or just the policy of the store owner? In summary, this Huddle House had the following problems: food sucked, service sucked and facility sucked. The worst Huddle House I ever ate at. Be warned....... read more

Terrible customer service. My daughter ordered all of us food and it was all messed up by the time it got here it was cold and they got every order wrong. Then when she tried to get her money back she got the runaround so don't ever give them your credit card because you won't get your money back. They would not give her her money back and told her to file a dispute with DoorDash when they have nothing to do with it and they owe her money still. So she's filing a dispute with PayPal because they don't want to honor their return policy. read more

Only putting a single star because I can't put ZERO. This place is NEVER open. They have people "working" - if you call hanging out and smoking, working, or sitting in cars, working. They lock customers out HOURS earlier than "closing time" with 3+ people on shift, or at least hanging around in uniform. We made the mistake of stopping in after a high school basketball game- what a mess to say the least. Food taste- school Cafeteria style- food was being microwaved!!!!!!! Biscuits were so tough (form the microwave) we could not cut with our silverware, asked for some that were not this way & the next ones we were given were the very same way. Food was either over cooked, or undercooked. Finally we did not say anything else, and left. Over 70% of what we ordered was left on our plates, we simply could not eat it. When I expressed to the lady at the checkout, (which was well aware of our issues), all she could say was I'm sorry & charged us $50.00 for food that we could not eat..... Huddle House is one of those places where you used to go because you loved it. Now, it's a place where you go when you got your drunk on and need cheese fries and waffles like nobody's business or it's the only sitdown available on the freeway. That would be what took me to the Huddle House in Baxter, TN. But it was wonderful! The place was sparkling clean, the waitstaff were attentive and geniunely nice. And the food actually looked the pictures in the menu and was tasty. The bacon was crispy no, fatty limp flesh there. The grits were hot and missing lumps. My hubby said his eggs tasted like eggs and I'll have to take his word for it, I don't touch runny yellow things. His waffle was just as good as if I had been drunk. I detest breakfast food, so I ordered the triple cheeseburger, got a good two or three bites out of it, way TOO big, but not burned or greasy smelling, awesome! I ordered chili with cheese and onions in place of the fries, figured if one sucked I could have something else to eat, but it was great too. We stopped here to eat around 230 on a Sunday since it didn't look crowded and we are being cautious during the Covid season. We were headed back to the interstate after going to a funeral. When we went in it was really hot inside, Obviously the air-conditioning is either insufficient or is not working. Wow is all I can say!!!!First off if you can't handle being a manager in a busy establishment and can't handle your cool like a professional then yes you VICKI (If that's the correct name you gave us) should NOT be a manager. Joan our server was excellent and wrote down our order correctly b.c she showed us. Well it came out all wrong on one order and we said no problem we understand things get messed up when busy. She told the "manager"/ cook the order needed to be fixed...Vicki then proceeded to scrap off the cheese with a USED spoon and with her fingers with no gloves, she throw the cheese on the grill and slammed the plate into the bus tub making the nasty water and food from the tub go everywhere ...onto food and the counter. On that note we said nevermind we are going to leave. Joan was very apologetic and was very embarrassed her superior acted in the way she did. Not only did she ruin our meal but she accomplished making a scene for the other customers to enjoy. I hope the owner of this Huddle House reevaluates his management staff and retrains them properly. I've worked in the service industry since I was old enough to bus tables, if anything I've learned patience and even if you are having a crazy, busy,awful day you keep a smile on your face and go into the BACK where no one can see and then show how you feel. Im not sure if your staff realizes it or not buuutttt your kitchen and staff are out there for all to see..so yes I see you wiping your face with your bare hands, picking up checks off the gross floor and not washing your hands and then dealing with food , oh and also treating each other poorly...Hello we see you! Yelp really needs to allow 0 stars. If you're traveling through don't stop here keep it pushing, it's not worth the headache. We ordered a fruit cup and the pineapple was brown and fruit looked old so we sent it back, the waitress brought us new fruit but it still looked a bit old and the pineapple was still brown so we decided we didn't want it, It cost 1.89. We go to pay and see it on our bill, the waitress says the manager won't take it off because there was nothing wrong with the fruit that's how it looks. We aren't from Tennessee and didn't want any drama so we paid for it. I should have taken a picture because it was not okay. There was also a hair in my sausage but I didn't complain I just put it on a different plate and they gave us the wrong breakfast sandwich which we told the waitress about but decided to keep it since it was just the wrong type of bread (should have been a biscuit but used Texas toast) . This place could make a lot of money with it being right off the highway if they worked on customer service and quality. read more

We arrived at 1:30 on a Saturday afternoon and our drink orders were taken immediately. The waitress came back with the drinks and took our order: Huddlebuger, Smoked sausage melt and two Deluxe French toasts. 10 minutes later we had our food which was decent and probably could be rated very good based on the caliber one would expect from this level of restaurant. Waitress was on top of drink refills and truly hustling around the restaurant in general. Additionally the place was very clean, I watched them truly clean as they went and as customers left. Food and selection is great too just like waffle house but slightly better. 24/7 open, breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The restaurant was clean and our order was taken within 5 minutes. We ordered pancakes, omelettes, hash browns and a grilled chicken salad. Each dish was really good and the price is very reasonable. My daughter, and I stopped by after her Soccer practice ran long for our dinner. A few bites in I found this hair, a short black hair, clearly wasn't mine, or my daughters you see we have blonde hair, and hers is pretty long! I waved the waitress over, showed her the hair, she took it away real quick, and then came back apologizing and saying they are fixing everything new for me after me stating I didn't wish to keep the order. She continued to let them make my food over again, and this after I said that I was fine, I had already waited 30 minutes for my first meal (other orders were ahead of ours), and then 10 minutes in to eating had to wait another 15 minutes for another meal to be cooked!! When I received the check, there was nothing knocked off, would've been nice to have given a little discount due to the hair, and the wait, Hell I would've taken you just keeping your food, and taking my non edible food off the bill, and me taking my business else where. Wow, just wow. First thing, why do people like to touch their face when they are cooking. The new cook in training just loved to touch his noise,chin and hair, disgusting. Second, tried to order the chicken fried steak, Out. Waffles, Out. The third item I ordered they had, yea...the stuffed hash browns. Said they where waiting for the delivery truck on the out items.
