I got two cookies, the chocolate chunk and a ginger molasses. Both cookies completely different textures from each other. The chocolate chunk was a pale, thick, scone looking blob while the ginger molasses was thin and crispy (looking). Unfortunately, the chocolate chunk managed to be both dry and cakey while also so unbelievably underbaked with the most bland flavor ever. Even the chocolate chunks themselves were bland. The ginger molasses LOOKED crispy but instead was a stale and sticky disc that stuck to my teeth. I'm not the biggest fan of Crumbl but I'd much rather go to a Crumbl than Hudson's. Somehow even more expensive and even more underwhelming. I also saw only one person working up front while eggs sat behind him on the counter with no sign of mixing or baking having been done so who knows how long those sat before I walked in! read more

Been coming here for over a year now and quality has always been good until about 6 months ago. Price has never been an issue until the quality has gone down. The chocolate chip cookies and all others are smaller now and always burned not soft , the frosted sugar cookie is not moist anymore and now hard. Brownies are the only thing that are still the same . Don't really want to come here anymore or won't go out of the way like I used to for these sweets. Service was great but this review is not about service. It's about the quality of the cookies. I bought a s'mores and double chocolate peanut butter cookie. Both cookies were underbaked. The center was raw and doughy. The edges were crunchy. Flavor was good but texture of the cookies were way off. Was it worth it? Will I go back? Do I recommend it? Unfortunately, no... If you like raw, gooey, soft centers perhaps this place is for you. Priced at $6.50 per cookie, you're better off going to Bristol Farms (closing at Irvine Spectrum but there's one in Newport), Paderia, or Levain (even the frozen Levain at BevMo is better). The cookies are absolutely delicious! We really enjoyed the peanut butter sandwich cookie a.k.a. Nutter butter, plenty for two people to share! The winner, however what is their famous chocolate chip cookie, it is insanely good! Service was wonderful, very friendly and welcoming. You can see them baking fresh in-store which I love. I tried really hard to resist the urge to snack today. Needless to say, I caved. These people know exactly what they are doing. By just walking by, you are met with an immense aroma of fresh baked cookies. On top of that, these have got to be the thickest cookies I've had. Unfortunately they were out of the triple chocolate, but I was able to get the classic chocolate chip and the smores (weekend only) cookies. I do have to warn you now, eating one of these cookies is like eating 10 cookies at once. Not only are they thick, but they are also dense and very rich. I cannot stress this enough, but get your water ready! The chocolate chip and the smores cookies both had massive amounts of chocolate inside. Both cookies had soft insides, with a very crispy texture on the outside. However, I'd say the winner would be the smores cookie. The melted smores mixed with the chocolate just gave it a chocolate lava feel that I love! When you're here, I definitely recommend eating the cookies immediately! I'm such a cookie fiend!!! I love love love chocolate chip cookies, and this place caught my eye as we were walking thru Irvine spectrum. I got a chocolate chip cookie, and it looked like they were placing it fresh on the trays. It wasn't warm as I expected, but it was still so soft and gooey inside, so it tasted like heaven. If it were warm, the cookie would have been beyond amazing. It was around $5 for a cookie, so a little pricey, but it's a large cookie. Overall, I was still so happy with the chocolatey goodness! The oatmeal raisin was a bit undercooked and overly gooey in the center. The edges were a bit dry though. The triple chocolate chunk was decadent like a brownie. Just follow the buttery sugary warmth when you enter the corridor, and you will find yourself in Hudson's. Hudson's offer a variety of classic cookies, as well as some specialties. One of my favorite is the S'mores. It is not always on display, but you can ask if they have any in the back. It's $7 but it is huge and fresh. Hudson's cookies are thick, soft, chewy and gooey, which is how I like my cookies. If you prefer thiner, crunchier cookies, then you probably should skip Hudson's. read more

I LOVE this place!!!!!! These cookies are NOT raw. They are absolutely fantastic. Creamy, buttery and gooey cookies. If you want a hard dry cookie, this is not the place. If you want a cookie that has the texture of cake but low moisture (close to dry) due to it being a cookie, don't come here. This is a SPECIALTY cookie shop, this ain't no Chips Ahoy factory. I have been to Hudson's about a dozen times--primarily the Irvine location but also the Newport one. I tried an array of cookie flavors: chocolate chip, chocolate chip with nuts, birthday cake, double chocolate, and s'mores. Overall, the cookies are moist, generously portioned, and delicious. The cookie style is most akin to Levain Bakery, but not quite as amazing. Still, the quality has been consistent and for that I believe Hudson's earns its stars. I will note service is generally good, as employee are kind, albeit some appear less experienced than others. Further, I will note Hudson's runs out of flavors quite often, so you may need to go there with an open mind on what you will get that day. read more

I stopped into Hudson's for the first time in hopes of acquiring some cookies for a friend's birthday. I was leery after my poor experience at their rival Crumble but gave it a try anyway. At first blush the shop was very cute, the aroma was amazing and the cookies looked picture perfect (literally). I took a look at the menu board and was initially taken back by the prices but the took a minute to think it over but proceeded anyway. The service was top notch - I was unsure of what to pick with so many options and was glad to have some help making great choices: - Brownie - OMG this is a can't miss. So rich and gooey in the center. - Oatmeal Raisin Cookie - Perfectly baked and flavorful - Ginger Molasses with Vanilla Butter Cream - The stand out of the bunch. Butter cream is light and fluffy and not overly sweet. The cookie is baked to match and the molasses comes through. - Nutter Butter - Once again, the butter cream was perfectly fluffy and not overly sweet. Due to the price point Hudson's would not be an everyday occurrence for me, but the response from everyone was so great that I will definitely be back for another special occasion. The smell from this place was amazing so we stopped in and had a look. They had tons of cookies on display and they all looked amazing, so we settled on a sugar cookie and a chocolate chip. The sugar cookie was good; soft, lightly sprinkled with sugar and tasted amazing. The chocolate chip cookie was completely disappointing, it was unevenly cooked and completely raw in the middle. At first, I thought it was just soft, but when I looked closer it wasn't even cooked. I wish we had noticed when we were there, but we waited to eat our cookies at home. This place looks and smells amazing when you walk in, so they definitely have the curb appeal! I came here with my husband and we got a chocolate chip cookie and the ginger molasses buttercream filled cookie. We were going to eat it at home so did not get it warmed up, but I really like when cookie shops offer to do that! We got home and took bites of our cookies. The flavors of the cookies were really good, but the chocolate chip cookie is very under-baked to the point where its like taking a bite of just cookie dough. I'm not sure if that's the way the owners wanted their chocolate chip cookies to be or if someone does not know how to bake them at the appropriate temperature or for the right amount of time. I've seen a few other reviews where people got refunded for their cookie when it was raw inside, but I would rather they just fix the cookie (make it flatter, change the temp/time, etc.) because it did have really good flavor! The flake salt on top is an added bonus for the chocolate chip cookies as well. I would love to try another cookie in the future! read more

I tried the snickerdoodle. It was as big as my hand, so soft and a perfect chewy texture. My son enjoyed their choices much more. I ultimately ended up throwing out the middle once I got to it because it was TOO gooey and I'm not sure that it was all that safe. ** UPDATE ** .. It pains me to write a negative update to my review, but here goes: After my initial 2 visits & review, the business owner (Verlie) reached out to me on Yelp; please refer to my photos for the brief conversation. I was optimistic to give them another shot, so that's exactly what we did just now (Friday night) after we left the movies. I was initially disappointed to see that they had sold out of their chocolate chunk cookies again, but then I noticed that they had a batch still on the baking sheet to the side. It looked like that had already started selling cookies from the tray as some were missing. We only got one cookie as they were sold out of the snickerdoodle that my husband wanted. I was less bitter about them selling out this time as it was late in the day. We excitedly dug into our freshly baked cookie by the nearby fountain..... only to discover that the middle was raw. I bake a little & while I'm not a pro, I understand that cookies need to rest to firm up. This was not that. They were under baked & RAW in the middle. So, we headed back to the shop to let them know. We waited until the patrons that were there had cleared out before advising them of our dilemma. The 2 employees looked at the cookie & agreed that the middle was under baked & that they would refund us. Unfortunately, I did not get a chance to take a picture for this updated review as I wasn't expecting to have to write one. I figured if I was having a THIRD bad experience, I would just let sleeping dogs lie & not do more harm. However, it was what happened next that really irritated me as a customer. They told us they had to get the manger to complete the refund & when they did, she came out & berated us about how the cookies were not done baking as they finish on the sheet pan & how we should have been advised to wait 15 minutes before eating (we were not). I informed her that we were not advised to wait 15 minutes & asked her why she would serve cookies that were not finished baking. Her response was that "some people like it that way". Don't get me wrong, I love a soft, fresh baked cookie as much as the next person. What I don't love is to be eating raw dough. To be honest, if she had just come out, apologized, & issued our refund, we would've left & I wouldn't be here writing this update. I never want to see a business fail, but I feel like their lack of preparation will lead them there. As a cookie shop, you really shouldn't be selling out until later in the day. There should be racks of cookies in the back baking & cooling until they're READY to be served; not just hurriedly rushed out & then excused away when a customer complains about raw dough. Verlie - If you're reading this, I wish you & your business the best, but we will not be giving your shop another try as I have no interest in getting sick from your cookies or being condescended on. These cookies were so delicious. I got the shortbread lemon buttercream sandwich, the nutter butter sandwich and the butterscotch. The nutter butter was awesome. If you love peanut butter, this is like to the next level! It's two peanut butter cookies filled with a peanut butter cream that had little crispies in it. Really tasty. The ladies who work there are so sweet and make you feel at home. They have a huge array of freshly baked cookies but they have a few they are known for -- including the chocolate chunk ~$5). They are definitely a bit pricey but the moment you bite into one you know why! They are uniquely crisp at the edges but gooey and rich inside. The place is located inside the spectrum. (It used to be The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf). Their menu is okay, not a lot of varieties. We decided to try their Chocolate Chunk and the size of the cookie is pretty big. They also definitely have a lot of chocolate chunks in it! But unfortunately, it was actually a bit cold and hard from having it being stayed out for too long. You can tell it wasn't freshly baked. I'm not sure if they were able to heat it up for us, but I'd ask if you plan to try their cookies here. It tasted good, but nothing special, just any good 'ol chocolate chip cookies. I am a huge brownie snob and saw a large, super thick brownie- honestly though it would be dry being that thick but was THE best brownie I've had in years!!
