I have never heard of Hudson's Cookies until most recently. Saw them in the Atrium Food Court within Fashion Island, Newport Beach. I'm a sucker for cookies. Had to check them out. Store front was decorated with simply pretty pink and red decor. Classic cookies consist of snickerdoodle, chocolate sugar, oatmeal chocolate chip, etc. Signature cookies feature Chocolate Chunk, Double Chocolate Peanut Butter, Oatmeal Butterscotch Salted Caramel, etc. They also sell cookie and ice cream sandwiches along with a few confections. Lady staff was okay. I asked for recommendations. She said their chocolate chip cookie is a crowd favorite. I had to step away for a few minutes. By the time I got back, they ran out of it. I should have gotten it when I had the chance. Oh well. Price per cookie ranged from $5 to $7+ which I thought was just a tad steep. I don't mind paying for high end cookies if they are truly worth every penny. Unfortunately, I can't say my $5 snickerdoodle was the best I've ever had. Located in the Atrium Food Court at Fashion Island, this place sells big, fat, expensive cookies. I don't mind paying five or six dollars for a cookie if it is truly a spectacular cookie. My experience here was a mixed bag. After receiving a verbal description of the various offerings from the fine young gentleman working here, I chose two: a traditional chocolate chip and a double chocolate peanut butter. The chocolate chip was perfection. Soft (but not doughy), lots of chocolate chips (slightly melty from being warm), and a smidgen of salt sprinkled on top. It was fantastic. The double chocolate peanut butter, however, had very hard crunchy edges and was dry. Having paid $6+, I wasn't about to give up on it, so took a few more bites and found the center to be softer. The center was where I found the flavors of chocolate cookie and peanut butter chips to be wonderful. Still, I expected a much better cookie. I'd give the chocolate chip cookie 5 stars and the double chocolate peanut butter 2 stars at most. read more

Finally tried this cookie spot and WOW! The cost of the cookie makes sense considering they are giant and delicious! Took me years to realize I didn't have a go-to cookie spot in OC?? Well look no further!! Their chocolate chunk gives that same ooey gooey satisfaction that you get from the Levain chocolate chip but they have even more flavors! We LOVED their s'mores flavor. These are the best cookies available in Southern California. Unfortunately these are not located outside of south Orange County, but these cookies are a real treat and much better than crumble. Thy stand out due to their large size, both thickness and diameter. The shop is also always decorated beautifully during the holidays. Even if you don't live in OC, it's worth a drive to go and try these. I'll also note the flavor combinations are very well done--vanilla bourbon butter cream with chocolate chip or lemon buttercream with shortbread--are just two examples in addition to all the traditional cookie favorites. read more

We were waiting to meet up with my family for dinner at CPK and decided to walk around for a bit. That is when we stumbled upon Hudson Cookies, and honestly it was the smell that pulled us in. My wife noticed it first and wanted to check it out. The moment she saw the cookie with cream in the display, she was sold. So of course, we had to try it. I was tempted to grab more because all of their cookies looked incredible. The chocolate chip one especially stood out. It did not look like your typical cookie. It looked more like a fluffy, doughy scone fresh out of the oven. The gentleman working there was kind enough to give us a sample and man, it was really good. We ended up getting the cookie cream sandwich and it did not last long at all. We had our eyes on the snickerdoodle and classic chocolate chip too, and those definitely looked worth coming back for. The staff was super sweet and very helpful while we asked some questions about their ingredients and all the different cookie options. They even had some gluten free choices which was great to see, even though we did not try them this time. The stall is overall clean but the aesthetic reminds me of mid-2010's Christian women Pinterest. Birthday Cake Cookie: 3.5/5 I am normally not a huge fan of birthday cake flavored items because of the usual strong assault of artificial flavors. This cookie was definitely not overly artificial but retained that signature buttery flavor associated with birthday cake. This cookie was well cooked and had a moist center rather than the undercooked style popularized by Crumbl. The cookie itself is pretty sweet and the white chocolate chunks, though very delicious, take it up to the realm of over-the-top. Solid cookie, but not my preference. Peanut Butter Cookie Sandwich: 4.5/5 I really enjoyed this cookie and would come back to get it. Dense and chewy, these rich and not-overly-sweet peanut butter cookies are joined by a rich buttercream that tastes like peanut flavored butter. The added moisture and butter from the buttercream made this truly decadent without overloading on sugar. The flavors are admittedly simple, but I honestly would not want much more than this. Choc Pecan Cookie: 3/5 Again, not my favorite. This had a very similar texture to the birthday cake cookie. The chocolate's bitter and acidic notes were accentuated by the pecans and were overall too much for me as someone who is not a huge fan of non-milk chocolates. If you are into the more "complex" notes of chocolate and like a dense cookie, this may be right up your alley. read more

We found the place in the food court and looked over the menu. Nobody was there. Not 1 employee in sight. Nobody behind the counter. We thought maybe someone was in the back or kitchen area. Walking around Fashion Island mall, I spotted this cookie place. I love chocolate chip cookies and had to stop and try one. First of all there is no one at the counter, so from a distance it looked like it might be closed. After walking up, I saw the beautiful display of many different types of giant cookies. I called out and a girl came out and said I need to ring the bell . She was not very friendly, never smiled, and seemed in a hurry to take my order. I got the chocolate chip with pecans cookie and a cup of coffee. It was over $11 and the smallest coffee I have ever had. The cookie was huge with good flavor, but dry. It doesn't compare to the $3.99 cookie at Bristol Farms. The coffee was not hot (warm) and definitely a mild roast.
