I've been a regular customer at Hugo's Tacos, but my experience with a server named Karla left me very frustrated. I ordered a cheese tacos and it came out with cold cheese, salsa, and tortilla. When I explained that I prefer the cheese melted (as l've had here before), Karla immediately snapped back, "We do not do that here." When I mentioned I had been served this way previously, she repeated herself in an even sharper tone, then yanked the plate from in front of me to take it back. l understand everyone has bad days, but this was uncalled for and incredibly unprofessional. This is not the first time l've experienced this type of attitude with Karla, but this time it was so rude that it completely ruined the experience for me. First-timer here...got the salsa burger and wasn't mad at it. Everything tasted really fresh and was clearly made to order. This quality is usually very hard to make a criticism, but a taco/burger stand that tastes really clean is just a little strange. My burger didn't have a ton of personality to it. It almost ate like a steak salad with buns. Again, not the worst thing in the world. I at least would prefer this to something that's been sitting out or lacked fresh ingredients. But the patty was a nice and meaty one, especially for being the lone patty in the burger. The salsa and secret sauce (think this was some sort of vinegarette) made a good deal of difference. And I'll be sure to ask for salt on the fries next time. Loved the fresh-outta-the-fryer temp, but the fried potatoes needed some salt. I'm not surprised plenty of people frequent this stand. The good outweighs the not-so-bad. The passable food elements just need a little more pizazz, and Hugo's is in there. Looking forward to trying the Torta Ahogada next time. read more

The breakfast burrito has no flavor, very bland and they also charge an extra 6 dollars to add the meat in which there was barely any added. Hugos Tacos has been around forever and is always a great option for a quick bite. Love their outdoor patio and festive holiday decor! The menu features lots of healthy options for those with veg/gf diets. Is this the most authentic Mexican food you'll ever eat? I don't think so, but the food here is tasty. It may just not have that greasy yummy-ness you would get from another taco shop, so it definitely feels a little on the healthier side. I would give them 5 stars alone for the breakfast burrito deal. $7 Monday- Friday when you order before 11am! Such a hefty portion too! While my food was tasty, my burrito was very cold on the inside. The cheese wasn't melted at all, which I would have expected at least a little bit. I was starving so I went to town but much rather would have preferred a warm burrito. Also upon opening the burrito, the tortilla had torn so it was a little bit of a mess inside the wrapper which isn't ideal. I'll still be back and hope to update my review in the future! read more

My order was Combo #3 which was three tacos, fries, and a drink. I was served tacos with dry, ~way~ overcooked carne asada, atop cold tortillas. The tacos were dressed with an almost nonexistent amount of avocado salsa, which didn't do anything for the flavor profile of the dry, chewy, and likely old meat. To wash it down? A bland and watered down Jamaica. While i do try not to leave poor reviews at most establishments, if they had the heart to sell me these things, I must have the heart to leave this review to let you guys know to do better. The only reason I gave two stars instead of one was the fries. They were hot, golden, and crispy. They were definitely decent, even though they didn't put any salt on them at all. Got the Crunchy Taco with Ground Beef. Good seasonings with the meat. Also had the Burrito with Ground Chicken and white beans. Again, good seasonings on the meat. After a few bites of the burrito, the whole thing fell apart and I had to eat it with a fork. No biggy. Both items came with a handful of chips and two salsas. The total was $17.50 for two items (no drink). I think when I come back, it will be for Taco Tuesday and Burrito Madness Wednesdays. read more

My boyfriend and I were really looking forward to trying this place but we were so disappointed with our order. It was less than a 5 min drive to get there and by the time we got home everything was cold. We had to throw the nachos in the oven because the cheese wasn't even melted. The burritos were mostly rice and beans. I feel like I had only 3 pieces of chicken in there. The sauces were good though but kind of crazy that they are a whole $1 to add on if you want more than the what comes with the food. I love their mushroom carnitas and agua Frescas. The servers are very friendly! I'm definitely going back.

Can't speak for the tacos now (had them a few years ago and they were great, haven't had them since), but my partner and I got burritos from here last night and they were bad. The carne asada was decent, but the carnitas literally tasted like nothing and was pretty disappointing. They also put the salsas that we requested inside burritos, which was strange, and there wasn't an option online to request this or to have them on the side. The one caveat was the strawberry horchata was amazing and the staff was very kind. Overall pretty disappointed though, and we won't be in a rush to go back here any time soon. read more

To be frank, stopped here because it was the closest thing to the off-ramp and we were driving back to the inland empire. Just wanted something to munch on to fill our stomachs for the drive. We ordered chicken taquitos and beans. We received taquitos...not chicken, but neither my wife nor I could put our finger on what the filling was. No beans. Unfortunately, we didn't find this out until we were well down the highway. As the man handed me the bag of food, he correctly repeated our order, chicken taquitos and beans. Now, we were quite literally the only customers there at the time. How difficult can it be to correctly fulfill one order? After he handed me the bag, I asked him for a salsa. It wasn't until later that I noticed he gave me pico-de-gallo. That's not generally what someone means when they request salsa to dip taquitos. The food taste wasn't bad. Very plain. I'll start by saying I've had some great food from Hugo's Tacos. However, I cannot give them 5 stars. The last several times I've gone I've had the same cashier and I believe the same cook prep my food. Every time the good was complete garbage. From Tacos with only meat and barely any of it to tonight's travesty, their "Limited Time" Spicy Chicken Sandwich. I've attached a photo. It's more like a charred, dried out, piece of jerky that tastes more like charcoal than, well, anything else. For $9 this was a fucking disgrace. Adding to the insult, they KNEW they were giving me a crap sandwich. It was wrapped up so you couldn't tell the chicken was burnt to a crisp when you picked up the order. They could've just said, "We don't have any good chicken left" and I would've gotten tacos instead. But at this point I'm pretty sure the cashier is intentionally fucking up my orders. I had an order earlier in the day that was totally fine. But I go back this evening(8/25) and the dude taking the orders is the same as all the other times I've had terrible food from Hugo's. If you are looking for a quick bite to eat that is both delicious and affordable, Hugo's is your best bet. The burrito (both white bean and pinto) is delicious, and the salsas are excellent (get the jalapeño and habanero if you like some kick). We paid only 35 dollars for 2 burritos, chips and guac, and tip for our delivery driver- let me tell you: this was worth the price a thousand times over. I have ordered here twice and enjoyed it both times. Hugo's also gives just the right amount of food: the burritos are not overstuffed and the proportion of each ingredient is perfect. When I have friends and family in town, I will recommend Hugo's! read more
