From my server to my drink to the SALMON, everything about this experience was immaculate! The salmon was easily the star of my meal. It was full of flavor and paired with a Creole piperade that sat between the salmon and added so much depth to every bite. There were also these tiny tomatoes that honestly looked like little red chocolate chips! They were such a cute and unexpected detail, and the entire plate was beautifully presented. What impressed me most was how much flavor was packed into everything. Nothing about the dish felt basic or like an afterthought. The different flavors and textures worked so well together, and I enjoyed every bite of that salmon. The service made the experience even better. My waiter, Nay, was an absolute sweetheart and provided some of the kindest service I've received in a while. Having a server who is genuinely warm, attentive, and welcoming can completely elevate a dining experience, and Nay did exactly that. The atmosphere was also great, friendly, comfortable, and inviting. Between the delicious drink, flavorful salmon, beautiful presentation, and exceptional service from Nay, I left extremely satisfied. This was one of those dining experiences where everything came together perfectly, and I would absolutely return!

A hull of nothing. The place looks great. The staff is nice and friendly. But otherwise, the food is pretty average, especially for the cost. I had the Laura sandwich, and the salmon was just a blob in the middle, and the egg felt unnecessary, and you've been left out for my preference. Overall, an average spot.

Breakfast today at Hull & Oak during our stay the The Laura Hotel. The restaurant is a cute little space on the second floor of the hotel. This morning we got the croissant breakfast sandwich, two eggs your way, yogurt parfait and a side of fruit. Our waitress Tanisha was the sweetest. She knew we were here celebrating love and her and the restaurant manager sent over a bottle of champagne which made for a sweet little treat. We felt very special and had the best time celebrating this morning. The food was very tasty and satisfied the brunch craving. Chef Ricardo definitely knows what he's doing. We loved having a restaurant that was so convenient and tasty during our stay. Definitely couldn't have better things to say about our experience at breakfast, we will definitely be back!

Had an amazing brunch at Hull & Oak in Houston! The atmosphere was stylish, vibrant, and perfect for a laid-back brunch outing. The food was absolutely delicious and beautifully presented, with great flavors that really stood out. The service was friendly and attentive, which made the experience even better. If you're in Houston and looking for a great brunch spot with good vibes and tasty food, Hull & Oak is definitely worth checking out!

This place is located inside of the hotel on the 2nd floor. We made reservations but you don't really need to. It is very nice inside. We sat in a booth. Our server was very accommodating. For brunch I got the shrimp and grits which were delicious & filling. I also ordered a side of bacon. The mimosas are great too. I would say it is more on the expensive side of brunch, but totally worth it.

I dined here two days in a row. The food was all right, but the service was poor and it didn't look like a single person there wanted to be there. This is a captive restaurant, but you should at least nail it on either food or the service. I left my table as briefly as one could to wash my hands after ordering. It should've been obvious what was going on since I just ordered, but to be safe, I left my napkin over the back of my chair to more clearly communicate that I would return. When I returned 1 minute later, my place was cleared and, apparently, they also cleared my order since the waitress had no idea to which table it belonged when it was made. After adding a tip to the check and signing it, I noticed a tip had already been added. Why? I've had about 600 nights at Marriott properties, and have never had a tip auto-added for a party of one. Curiously, the second morning I dined, a tip wasn't automatically applied. As I left the restaurant, the host at the stand, who did not appear to be engaged with anyone or anything, successfully ignored me. The second morning the hostess sat me at a bench whose food debris hadn't been wiped from the last party. I wiped the food off with my hands (yuk). She saw but didn't seem to care. Very promptly after taking my order, she left me the check. I appreciate that so it doesn't waste my time at the end, so I promptly signed the check and placed it hanging over the other side of the table to clearly communicate that it was taken care of. It's remained there the entire meal. Even when my food was served, it was still left there. During my meal, another server brought me a tea pot, which I didn't order. She was uncertain if it belonged to me so she silently stared at me with the teapot. I think she was trying to communicate, "does this belong to you?" She should be using her words so I didn't say anything. presuming she would. After too awkward of a silence I said, "that's not my tea." She grunted (or muttered a single unintelligible syllable) and served it to another table. Not only does it seem like none of the staff received service training, but not a single team member did anything that most restaurants do to make someone feel welcome or want to return. As a platinum, I had a breakfast voucher for my third morning, but gave it to a friend as I went elsewhere for breakfast.

We stopped by Hull & Oak for breakfast after arriving early for a work trip, and it was a great start to the day. The menu looked fantastic and the food did not disappoint -- the Peaches & Cream Waffles were the perfect balance of sweet and savory. My coworkers also loved their meals. The service was excellent and the staff were very friendly. The decor was also super nice and aesthetic. Highly recommend for a delicious breakfast if you're staying at The Laura Hotel.

My husband and I came here for brunch while we were visiting Houston. The place was super cute! Nanyamka was our server and she was so sweet and accommodating. She answered my questions and made a recommendation for us to get the biscuits and gravy, which is a staple breakfast for us. We really enjoyed it! I also got an oat chai latte which was solid--a bit on the sweet side, but I'd get it again. Would definitely come back here for a standard breakfast.

Visited for a Valentines Day dinner and the food was nice. I loved the edition of the live musician singing love songs. Our server was attentive and knowledgeable of the menu. We opted to sit within the bar area, which was an open space. The crab cake was good. My favorite cocktail was the Garden of Eden.

Sunday downtown Houston brunching with my fav!!!! I saw this place on TikTok and saved it in hopes I'd get the chance to go one day and today was the day. Reservations are recommended as the place is small. We were seated immediately and given a menu. The brunch menu was small but the choices were great. Our waitress was amazing and the atmosphere was very inviting. I'll definitely be back to try other dishes.

Hull & Oak (bar side) gave us a whole vibe for Saturday night. We decided to stay in because of the weather and traffic--and honestly, it was the right move. There was a live guitarist, cozy lounge seating, and beautiful views of downtown through the windows. The drinks were solid, and our bartender Brittany was excellent--attentive, friendly, and consistent. Food was good: The shrimp skillet was flavorful (my partner ordered it again) I had the smash burger--good, but definitely a lot of food (two patties caught me off guard) They did miss my request to leave off the spicy relish, though it didn't ruin the dish The biggest issue was the gnats/fruit flies in the lounge area. We had to constantly fan our food to keep them away, which was disappointing, especially for a hotel with such an upscale feel. Overall: Great vibe, strong service, good food--but definitely room for improvement on cleanliness and attention to detail.

Even this time the GPS took us to an entrance that had us going the wrong way down a one-way, but we eventually figured it out I will say that the parking isn't all that great, but we were able to find a spot. If the parking lot is full you should be able to find street parking nearby Kanpai Club is a sister location to Handos. They share a kitchen and you can walk through an inside door access either. You can find the same cocktails and bites from Handos on the Kanpai menu, but there's also additional drinks and bites The bar feels like a Japanese Izakaya. It's a narrow space resembling a Japanese outdoor bar. It's intimately lit and well decorated. We did have to wait for two spots to open up, but that didn't take too long The bartenders were friendly, professional, and efficient. We went on a Friday night (fairly late), and they had two dedicated bartenders The cocktails were fun and were beautifully crafted. Most were served in novelty glassware. You can order classic cocktails, but both Kanpai and Hando offer a variety of signature cocktails. Most having some sort of Japanese or Asian fusion. They have beer, wine, and extensive sake list, as well as green tea and other nonalcoholic options The cocktails were tasty. The only one I was iffy on was their Espresso martini. It was poured from a machine and I guess there were having issues with it. The presentation was phenomenal. There was a roasted marshmallow garnish. The drink itself was far too Smokey in flavor than I like, or at least in terms of my espresso martinis The Yuzu Kosho fries were incredible. The flavors really hit the spot. The Okinawa Potato salad was both questionable to looks and and to eat lol. This purple mound of potato's had an interesting taste, look, and consistency. It wasn't bad, just... interesting and new Some tips: If you can't find this spot from the street, look for Handos. It's part of this restaurant Ask the bartender about the happy hour menu. And most nights they're open until 12am, but on Fridays and Saturdays they are open until 2am If you order food online (technically from Hando's) you can get 10% off using code: HANDO10. This is part of their "Hando and Chill" special Cheers!!

It's located right at 19th St. and Shepherd near the light. There's a small angled parking lot that can be tight when people park along the fence. It looks like a cute tiny A-frame home with a few patio tables in the front. The inner area has about 6-7 high tables. It's nice and clean inside. The vibe feels similar to H-Town Brewing Co. but on a smaller scale. You can also sit at the bar. I didn't really like the high tables/chairs. They're not as comfortable. It was hot out, and there are mosquitos, so we sat inside. I ordered the salmon plate for steak night. The drinks here are ok, and since I don't really drink, I was looking for mocktail options. In this era, most places have mocktail options with brand alternatives like Ritual, Seedlip and Lyre's or at the least, something with juice, Topo Chico and simple syrup. The female bartender made me a NA margarita which was great. I liked that she didn't make it too sweet or too tart which happens with mocktails that don't have alternatives and are mostly juice or lemon. On the other hand, when I ordered a second, the guy bartender made it too sweet. I didn't like his version. For the alcoholic versions, they seem to have good cocktails, wine, beer and flights. They also have daily specials. Aside from the steak night, they don't serve food here. It wouldn't be my first choice of bars in this area.
