My friends and I were looking for some healthy food options and after a quick Yelp search, we stumbled upon this restaurant. We got the thai curry bowl with tofu protein. They had plenty of interesting options to choose from but we were craving for thai curry so went with that. The ambiance was welcoming. The food came out pretty quickly too. First off, the portion size was good for two people. The quantity was good. The thai curry itself was a bit too watery for my liking. However, the quinoa, rice, veggies and tofu were cooked to perfection! I liked the basil addition, it definitely elevated the flavor overall! I wished it came with some hot sauce. I only realized later that they have in house specially prepared hot sauce after my meal was complete. If you are on the lookout for something tasty and healthy, head this way!
I'm always happy every time I have Humbowl! It's lovely to find a restaurant where vegetarian and vegan meals take center stage and aren't afterthoughts. The breakfast hash is my favorite, the veggies are cooked well and seasoned nicely, and the cilantro ginger sauce takes everything to another level. Their Thai curry is also delicious, perfect balance of ingredients i.e. generous portions of protein and veggies and not too much rice. Same for their sesame jasmine bowl (pictured). It's interesting that they offer a wide variety of bowls but they all *taste* like Humbowl, i.e. the ingredients all work really well together. And I never feel sick or heavy after eating their meals. Humbowl is excellent with catering and attentive to food allergy requests, they're an excellent option for feeding a crowd with varied dietary needs. The owner Eric is very kind too and gives back to the community. Such a great local business!
You order at the counter, they bring out your bowl, and after that it's mostly self-serve. You have to go back up for water, condiments, napkins, and then clean up after yourself when you're done. I got the seasonabowl with rocky's chicken. It had green beans, sweet potatoes, sauteed veggies, and wild rice, with a mustard vinaigrette. Overall, the bowl tasted incredibly fresh, definitely fresher than something like Chipotle. The sweet potatoes were super tender and pretty much melted in my mouth. That said, my bowl came out to around $17 after tax and tip, and for that price, I don't know if I'd get it regularly. Compared to something like chipotle, where you get a bigger portion for less, this feels more like an option once in a while. I think a lot of what you're paying for here is the overall experience: the bright, well-lit space, the natural light, the nice seating, and the fact that you're right in Elmwood near the movie theater and a bunch of great dessert places. It's a good change of pace, and probably one of the more affordable lunch options in the area
Picked up take out from Humbowl in Berkeley on a Saturday afternoon. Located on busy College Ave, parking and traffic may be tough but you should be able to find spaces on neighboring side streets. The Thai curry bowl was delicious with a generous amount of roasted veggies and rice. The shrimp and tofu bowls were great too after mixing in the included sauce. The restaurant was clean with about 6-7 tables. We thoroughly enjoyed the meal - the food was prepared with fresh ingredients and tasted healthy. Our to-go boxes were secured well and organized in the take out bag. I'm glad I checked and asked for utensils since we were eating this on the go. Although the food was excellent, the employee's service felt quite distant and could have been more engaging.
Went for a Yelp event! The place was so cute and tidy. I got the seasonabowl (fall) with shrimp. I also purchased a drink- the strawberry passion. The bowl was good, especially with the mustard dressing with it, it gave it a little kick. I wish I would've added chili flakes to add a little spice to it. The staff were kind and knowledgeable about the menu.
Healthy, fresh, fast, and flavorful; what's not to love? Oh, and given the quality and location, reasonably priced! This is what fast food only wishes it could be, complete with vegan options and seasonal specialties. You get your food in a flash, and you can even see it being cooked from the open kitchen, so you can get in your way without any wait, it enjoy the spare but cool dining area. Free cucumber water seals the deal for me. If I was nearby, I'd come back on the daily!
Yum! My kids LOVE this place, which, as a mom of two grade school boys, means the world. I love that they get a healthy meal that they devour and I get to know that they got all the nutrients they needed, all super quick and reasonably priced. I am a huge fan of spicy food and enjoyed the homemade salsa (I even grabbed a bottle of my own on the way out). Super friendly staff and clean happy place. I only wish I lived closer so we could come weekly.
Still a winner. Fresh, healthy and fast. While not cheap - think about $15-$18 for a dish (with tax and tip), you leave feeling satiated, but not weighed down. I always opt for the dish with the most vegetables since they do them so well. Make sure to include some hot sauce to spice up the dish, as it leans a bit bland (I'd imagine because they keep additives to a minimum).
Great healthy to-go option that is also tasty! Counter service restaurant with plenty of seating inside. I got mine to go, and it carried well and they use compostable packaging. You can also order online for added convenience. The food is a healthy portion, cooked wonderfully, and the cilantro ginger sauce is absolutely delicious. They should sell the sauce by itself! The service was friendly, helpful, and efficient. I appreciate that they include neurodiversity in their support of diversity.
Fresh, healthy, and delicious! Love this place! It's our go-to for a guilt free tasty meal. Everything is dairy free! Their sauces are all delicious; vibrant and savory. Sustainable packaging. We were looking for a quick, healthy place to eat, and Humbowl hit the spot. The bowls were large and packed with healthy veggies. The proteins were fresh, and the sauces were really what took it to the next level. The service was friendly, but the location itself isn't that comfortable. I would order to-go.

Healthy, mean, green meal that is super savory and flavorful in every bite!! yumm that is my definition of humbowl! Never had anything quite like it either, truly the first of its kind! They have a great selection of bowls you can chose from from bfast scrambles to their entree bowls. They also do have salad and a nice selection of sparkling water that I found very delish! I ended up trying their humbowl the vera cruz one with 2 sparkling waters. I got the guava and another flavor, wish I would have got more since they were that good! The vera cruz had the perfect amount of veggies, rice, and protein. i did ask for extra sauce since I'm a saucy girl. Sure glad I did since that verde sauce is quite something special! its spicy but very good to my liking! Service is great! I ordered ahead and my order was ready upon pick up. A true five-star experience. And those are rare. Humbowl is a relatively recent addition to College Avenue in Elmwood, having arrived in February 2022. They make wholesome, healthy foods that excel in flavor and deliciousness. Their "humbowls" are served with 1) choice of protein, including shrimp, chicken, sausage, legumes like lentils and garbanzo beans, and organic fried eggs; 2) brown rice and organic red quinoa; 3) a bunch of healthy veggies, including garlic mushrooms, zucchini, sautéed greens, red beets, broccoli, roasted cauliflower, roasted sweet potatoes, avocado, organic tomato. They also have salads and all day brunch (wooooooo!!!!!!) which features egg-based "scrambowls." All food is cooked right in front of you as soon as you order it, and you can taste the freshness of the ingredients. SO. YUMMY. Feeling particularly grateful for places like this that fill my belly with healthy, nutritious, filling foods. Come visit them and give them some love :) read more

This was my second time at Humbowl. I enjoyed my first time here and needed to come back to try their other items! I got Thai curry with chicken per their recommendation for the most popular item. Everything was well-balanced and I loved the coconut curry sauce they had. The chicken was seasoned too salty unfortunately. I would have given 4 stars but the service I received was phenomenal. They asked if I needed to refill my water bottle when I was at the register (which I didn't need to at the time), and that was very kind of them! When dining in, they directed me to outlets and offered WiFi to me when I needed to get some work done. The food was finished so quickly and dropped off at my table before I could even take out my laptop and plug in my charger. After eating, they kindly took my plate away and asked again if I needed to refill my water bottle. Overall, the staff were very nice and the ambiance is pleasing. It was not busy when I went early morning and it is spacious as well. I'll be back again to try more items on the menu! read more

7/5/25 - Healthy but yummy spot! This was my 2nd time here and the food is always filling, never feel guilty about what I'm eating and it tastes good as well. I got the sesame jasmine bowl which I added chicekn to: it has broccoli, cabbage, chicken, sesame seeds, red pepper, a tangy citrus sauce. The portion size is perfect for me. The little monster they have as their mascot is also so so cute! read more

Great neighborhood spot for some really thoughtful and tasty meals. I just love not having to think about nutrition when going out to eat - no matter what you order here, it's going to be nutritious and easy on the belly. I had the Togarashi with cauliflower rice and shrimp. It was delicious! Very filling and energizing. Note: I had to order a second one because I couldn't eat spicy that day and I didn't realize that the sauce topping would have such a kick. Just a good think to know if you might also need the sauce on the side. read more

My absolute favorite restaurant. Healthy, delicious, real food, grilled up fresh right in front of you, with no corporate cost cutting economy-of-scale bullshit. They even sell sodas with only 6 grams of sugar per can. I eat here every chance I get. I can't find any other restaurants like this in the bay area. read more
This place has been on my radar ever since I saw it on Snackpass and I was not disappointed with what I got at all! I got a togarashi bowl, which consisted of white rice, garlic cremini mushrooms, sautéed greens, red sweet beets with cilantro ginger sauce. My friend got a vegan hash scrambowl, which has roasted sweet potatoes, avocado, roasted cauliflower, sautéed onion, cremini mushroom, zucchini, thyme, and cilantro ginger vinaigrette. It was so yummy that I wish there was more in one portion :( read more
Now, what in the healthy deliciousness is this?! Humbowl just creeped in with the answer to many of y'alls prayers. Healthy meals that are actually filling, mouthwatering, and cost effective! Hallelujah to THAT! Can I have a round of applause for the Humbowl, pleeeease?! LOVED it!!! Absolutely positively bay-beeeh! Elmwood needed something like this on the avenue. Love the concept, love the taste, love that it's healthy. I just truly adore everything that Humbowl is about. Offering healthier options at an affordable price while still sourcing many of their products locally and organically with their customers' needs in mind. I can dig it. I picked up lunch here a few weeks ago without really knowing what to expect, and ended up being blown away in the process. I ordered the Togarashi bowl with shrimp using their online website which was super easy to navigate. I would usually dine in during my lunch time, but with new staff that are still in training, I've been stuck eating most of my meals in the office. They have a really cute rustic interior space though. It's small but comfortable and inviting. The staff gave me a really warm welcome when I came in to pick up my food. Humbowl offers a variety of different protein bowls that can also be made vegetarian and vegan. I ordered their Togarashi bowl with shrimp which consists of garlic mushrooms, sauteed greens, red beets, brown rice/quinoa blend, and cilantro ginger sauce. Every single item in that bowl tasted amazingly fresh. Ev-er-y-thang. Each of the vegetables were fragrant in their own right and the combination of flavors was absolute dynamite. It sounds so simple but the flavors are truly on point here. The shrimp were nice and plump and there was plenty of them to go around! You know how skimpy some restaurants can be when it comes to the protein (especially when seafood is involved). You don't have to worry about that with Humbowl. They provide very filling portions in their bowls, but the meal is still light. My staff knew that I was trying something different when I came back with the bowl. They asked me how it was and I just couldn't help but to gloat about how scrumptious everything tasted. Now they're planning on trying them out too. So excited to try more healthy bowls from here! My partner had the seasonal dish with pesto which was a delightful combination of flavors and freshness, perfect for summer (in fall). Healthy food can be delicious and affordable. There I said it! Humbowl also has SCRAMBOWLS which consists of vegetables, eggs, and sweet potatoes. The bowls range from $11.95 - $13.95. My two favorite bowls are seasonabowl: sweet white corn, zucchini, red onion, organic tomato with basil cashew pesto thai curry: sautéed greens, zucchini, roasted sweet potatoes with coconut curry sauce My only wish is that they opened later than 8pm :( read more

A friend introduced me to this establishment. Oh boy am I glad he did. Depending on my mood I order the Brassica with no tomatoes & sometimes quinoa or the wild rice. Don't forget to ask for a side of hot sauce. Every time I come here the food is 10/10. The service is always A1, always friendly people. The ambiance gives a small cafe vibe. These bowls are amazing! My favorite one was the seasonabowl. I really liked how the restaurant promotes a sustainable ecosystem by using decomposable containers, to-go bags, and locally sourced/grown products. I visited Humbowl as my first stop for Berkeley Restaurant Week and I can already see me adding this to my list of favs in the area. My first thoughts while looking at the menu was " oh, ok. another healthy food spot " which essentially for me means bland lol. Boy, was I wrong! These bowls pack FLAVOR!!!! Caught me off guard because I wasn't expecting it to be so amazing. Wow! For reference I tried the Thai Curry & added shrimp and also tried the Brassica but kept that one vegan. I can't choose which one was better because they both were delicious and you can absolutely tell you're eating quality. OMG!!! How can this be sooooooo HEALTHY and so dang TASTY at the same time!?!? This place is a must try!!! I got the Thai Curry bowl with shrimp and it was amazing!!! The flavor palette is simple but you taste every single ingredient! The food is cooked to perfection and no mushy vegetables! Picture perfect food!!! Oh and they are very reasonably priced!!! $13.95 for shrimp, $12.95 for chicken or $10.95 for Legumes mix (beans). It's so worth it and a place you will want to come back to again! read more

I've been dealing with a gastric issue that has restricted my eating to basic fruits, veggies, and lean proteins. Having to prep all of my own stuff at home and not being able to eat my usual foods was really bumming me out. But yesterday I saw Humbowl on Instagram and realized it was a restaurant that serves mostly things I CAN EAT! I was in Berkeley today so I gave it a try and it's not just good, it's delicious! I got the Avocado Scrambowl, and every single element was savory and flavorful. Even the avocado was perfectly ripe. The potatoes especially were just super delicious. And it was amazing to be able to just order something straight off the menu without asking if I could get it without some things, or substitutions. Will definitely be coming back again!
