Love love love my hummus heaven. I visit the farmers market at fort mason every Sunday just to buy hummus. All flavors are amazing but I try to stay away from the garlic bombs (tomato basil spread). If you can handle the heat, highly recommend the haberno hummus and haberno salsa hummus. Purchase the avocado cilantro or artichoke to wash it down with. I've also become a recent fan of the rosemary white bean and kale and almond hummus. Oh my goodness this really is a heaven. We go to Carmel Valley's Farmers Market and make our purchases through Omen. We love the Greek Labne. Our favorite is the pumpkin cinnamon, but Omen keeps suggesting other flavors and we keep trying them. A new favorite the date yogurt and another is the peach flavor. We stumbled upon this hummus maker at the San Francisco Fort Mason Farmer's Market this past Sunday. A nice young man offered to let us try each one. (So nice of him because it was the end of the day). Some were normal, some spicy, some intensely flavored, some red, some green... We absolutely loved the red Basil hummus and the kale almond green hummus. I highly recommend these two flavors! We also bought a pack of their homemade chips and boy, are they delicious! I've been purchasing their hummus for years now and have most of the time enjoyed the hummus. Recently when I got home I quickly realized the expiration dates on the hummus varied by a lot. One tub I bought last week would expire later than the tub I just bought this week. Fast forward another week and I buy three tubs and one tub expires in three days, one tub expires in ten days and one tub expires more than a month later. WTF. I really don't want to as a customer look at the dates of the hummus he hands me and be like uhhhh excuse me this expires in a few days. They as sellers should KNOW not to sell these tubs FULL price knowing it will expire so fast so I find this business practice shady and dishonest especially for a small business. Why not offer a small discount on tubs that will expire soon or use them as samples for the day? The first time I came, I was charged $4.50, then slowly I was charged more and more till my last visit I was charged $6.50 for one tub! $6.50! Get your prices accurately and keep it the same. It's always different for me, and sometimes people in front of me get charged $4. Shame on you! read more

I love their lemon and herb pita chips too because they're really thin and flavorful. I just discovered them at the San Francisco VA Hospital farmer's market (Wednesdays from 10 am - 2 pm) and bought some of the cayenne pepper and garlic spread as well as a bag of pita chips. What I didn't know at the time, was that I should have bought the deal of four bags of pita chips for $20, some pitas, and several more of the spreads/hummuses/prepared salad/dips. Why? Well, because what I got in the two products I actually did buy make me believe that anything and everything I could purchase from here would be mouth-wateringly delicious. Seriously! There's one guy pushing samples taking them directly out of a plastic bag with his bare hands and trying to hand them to people. Most weren't interested. That said, I wanted some pita chips and the woman before me had purchased two dips, a few bags of pita chips and some extra all for $20. Despite not seeing prices listed for items sold, I thought that I'd get a decent price on the pita chips. Nope. $5 for an average sized bag because I only bought one. $5 was all I had on me so it worked out that I could buy them but I won't be back. Keep your prices consistent. The hummus tastes ok but the way they do business left a bad taste in my mouth. I stopped at the Yerba Buena Lane Farmers Market today. They were pushing samples of the hummas and pita chips really hard. I tried and few and figured I'd get one possibly two for my upcoming dinner party. They had me try a 3 layer dip that was really tasty. I said I wanted to buy the 3 layer dip. While one guy looked for the 3 layer dip for me the other one kept pushing sample after sample on me. He was shoving chips in my face one after the other. Then I was told they didn't have anymore of the 3 layer dip and I was bummed. He said I could have the container of the sample I'd tried for free... I was the only one to have tasted any of it. I thought that was nice so I agreed to the deal of 5 dips or chips for $20. I picked out 4 others and some pita chips. The dude would not give me the 3 layer dip for free. He said because I was the only one who had tasted from that container it wasn't really a sample container. I guess I could have pitched a bigger fit and demanded all my money back. It was just so sleazy the way one guy said it would be free then he conveniently stepped away while the other one insisted it had not been promised. It felt like I was getting worked over by carnies. They were talking over me, throwing out numbers and pushing things on me. Then suddenly the price isn't what you were originally told. Not cool. If they are willing to cheat you out of a few dollars at a farmer's market, what other shady, shifty, dishonest things do they do? Maybe none, I don't know for sure. Hummus...I think this is a gateway food to vegetarianism. When I eat hummus I feel satisfied and don't really think about meat. Heck, I even have been known to dip a carrot or two in the stuff and eat that as a meal. So, when I saw Hummus Heaven at the Thursday Night Farmers Market in Livermore I thought it might be a vegetarian plot to recruit me. I took the bait.... The man working the stand was really helpful and asked questions to steer me in the right direction. "Do you like spicy?"....Yuppers!! He gave me a sample of the Habanero Salsa Hummus and yes it was spicy. The good kind of spicy where you get the sniffles a little bit but can still taste all the other flavors. I was sold and ready to hand over my $6 and leave before I got in too deep. "Do you like garlic?"....yaaa huh! "What about spinach?"....ahh he knows all the non-meaty things I like! So before I knew it I spent $15 on hummus (you get a price break on three). The hummus is fantastic. Great consistency and full of flavor but it is expensive at $6 for 8oz or 3 for $15. He has creative flavors I can't easily get anywhere else so I will see it as a convenience fee since I go to the Farmers Market often. I like the idea that he will let me try as many samples as I wish to make sure that I enjoy what I purchase. He also gave me ideas on how to incorporate it into more of my dishes at home. read more

Went to the Turlock Farmer's Market last week and sampled the hummus. It was so good, I took a 4 tubs and a pack of pita bread home. The kids picked the avocado and cilantro and loved it! I also got the tomato basil spread (my favorite), thai hummus and the habanero hummus, which is their spiciest and super yummy! I still had some left over when I returned to the market today, but did pick up a bag of the lemon and herb pita chips and they are tasty, too! Holy Hummus Heaven! If you see this unassuming stand at a farmer's market near you, make a beeline for it and start sampling. They are at different locations every day, but I head over to the Kaiser San Jose location whenever I get a chance, and today was one of those days. Love that all ingredients are listed right on the lids. They're organic and made with olive oil (no canola oil as others have mentioned - at least not in the flavors I've seen). All the flavors I've tried have been decent, but you can't go wrong with the Garlic & Chive Hummus or the Roasted Red Pepper Tapenade. Grab a bag of Lemon & Herb pita chips and dip away. Perfect snack - or meal, if you get carried away. They also offer a variety of sides like marinated whole olives, but they aren't my thing. I'm here for the hummus, baby. And while $5 for a small tub is more Trader Joe's style than Costco, the product is better than any hummus I've gotten at either of the above, so it's worth it. They'll knock a couple dollars off if you buy more than one thing (which is easy to do here). I'm happy to drop a Hamilton here, especially since it means supporting a local small business while getting my hummus fix. read more

I am utterly disapointed. I tried a full range of their hummus and dips during the Farmer's Market at Fort Mason the other week. Absolutely delicious. Been fully enjoying them all week. And then discovered a quaint long light brown hair in my Tomato Basil Dip. I know perfectly well its not mine because my hair is pitch black. They obviously need to wear hair nets in their production process. Finding unexpected things in your food thats not part of the normal ingredients is unacceptable. I'm thoroughly grossed out. I'm giving them 2 stars rather than 1 because before this I really was in love with how good their dips were. I was then excited to run across them at the Half Moon Bay Farmer's Market on our day trip yesterday. I am totally addicted to the Roasted Red Bell Pepper Tapenade as well as the Spicy with Harissa! Hummus Heaven not only offers seventeen varieties of hummus, each with a distinguishing flavor, but also a good selection of salads, pita bread, pita chips and savory olives. Best of all, the vendors at the Hummus Heaven allow plenty of sampling of their many products. They were also very helping in describing the flavors and ingredients of the different hummus. Given the quality of the products, prices are quite reasonable. Since I bought more than one item, I only paid $4 per item. I will definitely be on the outlook for Hummus Heaven at other Farmers Markets throughout the Bay Area! read more
