This is my favorite hummus republic spot! They have a craft soda machine too (but the diet cola has been out of service for a while ) The staff here are very friendly and make sure that you get the value for your money with their serving sizes. I love this location and restaurant because I know I will always be taken care of. The chicken is always well prepared, tender, and juicy. The hummus options are delicious. The street mix is a must. And don't be afraid to get some of grandma's hot sauce The spot is good for people that like to select the things that go into their salads and pitas. Tons of options and combinations of flavors. I would recommend the spot for somebody looking to fill up on a meal to those that are looking for healthier alternatives. If you're in downtown Alameda, definitely give this a shot. Check their hours and days of the week they are open - I've defiantly show up to a closed spot and had to come back the next day!

I stopped here during the weekday for lunch since I work in Alameda. Parking is very difficult to find since this place is located near Park Street and they don't have their own parking lot. Hummus Republic is similar to SAJJ with their build your own bowl concept. Basically the Mediterranean version of Chipotle. I like this place because they have tons of topping options compared to SAJJ. I got the gyro meat which is made with beef and lamb. The gyro meat had flavor, but I wish they charred it like other places to have a crispy edge, similar to bacon. Their gyro meat looks more like uncooked turkey bacon, which is unappealing. All the veggies/toppings are fresh. You also get to top off your bowl with a variety of sauces. If I'm craving Mediterranean food, I always come here or Tahina which is a few blocks away. You get more bang for your buck here though.

Hummus Republic is such a great spot, and it totally reminds me of SAJJ (my absolute favvvv), but since there aren't any local SAJJ locations, this place is a great alternative. The food here is excellent, and the portions are HUGE. There are so many options to customize your meal, but one unique item for me is the feta--it adds such a nice texture and flavor to the bowls and they dont charge extra for it like SAJJ. Honestly, the bowls are big enough for two meals, which makes it feel like a great value. The first time I came, I ordered a wrap, and it was MASSIVE--so stuffed it practically burst at the seams. It tasted amazing, but it was a challenge to eat, so now I stick to the bowls for the sake of convenience (and less mess!). Customer service is another highlight. Everyone here is so friendly and accommodating, which makes the experience even better. There are a handful of small tables if you want to eat there, but I wouldn't necessarily bring a big group--it's more of a quick, casual spot. Now all I need is for them to open a location in San Leandro, and I'd be set.

The service was good but if you come during lunch you should preorder, the lines get long. There's chairs inside and outside to accommodate small groups. I wanted a tasty filling healthy little meal that wasn't going to break the bank. Every menu I looked at on Park street was $15-$20 or something greasy and fried. Then I past Hummus Republic, checked out the menu and they had affordable prices for healthy choices, so I decided to give it a try. It was my first time and I looked over the menu and decided to get the four scoops of hummus and the organic pita bread. I love that. I could pick four different types of spreads, so three were hummus and the fourth was a feta spread. All were so delicious. Before deciding on purchasing this, I asked what the ingredients are. I'm pretty particular about what kind of oils I ingest. And she said there was only hummus tahini and salt. So I said YES!. They were so tasty and filling The young lady at the counter was so helpful and friendly. I will be going back! Maybe tomorrow

Date: 4/18/2024 Time: 4:00 PM 63° Sunny After visiting the Kaiser lab for blood work being done, I stopped in at Hummus Republic, which is a few doors away. I have seen their ad on the FB website. The food looked yummy. It's check in and check it out. My first time here. It took me a while to peruse the menu and decide what I want in the bowl. The choices are great from what I see on display. The male employee guided me along with my selection. The bowl starts with a base, three scoops of hummus, protein, unlimited sides of veggies and finally the dressing. My bowl was filled with Mediterranean couscous, spinach, three hummus, four falafel, veggies and traditional tahini dressing. I also added two dolmaes (additional $1.00) Make it to go, please. Cost with tax and tip included was $18. Menu is posted on the window before going in to the business. Laminated menus are available at the counter to review. There is also a menu board on the wall. I was excited to get the bowl with falafel that I forgot to ask for beets. Okay a return trip is necessary to get their strawberry lychee beverage and another bowl. What I ate was so delicious that I almost forgot to take a photo. (Senior moment. LOL, meaning Little Old Lady Laughing Out Loud).

Delicious hummus heaven. Grab a menu as it walks you through how to assemble your custom order. You can have a pita sandwich, bowl or burrito. We each ordered a pita sandwich. Each pita was heated up then piled with your choice of greens , choice of protein, we chose chicken shawarma, and lemon chicken. Then you move onto the fun part. You get unlimited sides ranging from onions, tomatoes, olives, grains, chickpea, croutons, cucumber, pickled red cabbage, tabbouleh, herb mix, crumbled feta. Then choice of sauce to top your order. We also ordered pita chips and hummus. It was a very very generous serving of hummus ( we ordered 2 flavors) and the best part... the toasted pita chips. So delicious. I would order just this for dinner next time. Place is clean. Very helpful and friendly service. Order was quickly filled.

This has been one of my go to spots in the past couple months! It's like a Mediterranean chipotle, similar to Cava. I love the customization of each step and the portions are generous but quality varies. I usually get a bowl with the chicken shawarma and lemon chicken. I've gotten falafel once and it was dry so I stuck to chicken. The chickpea croutons are a MUST! They're better at lunch from my experience lol. You can't really go wrong with any of the spreads or bases. For the sauces, I like the red pepper tahini, grandma's hot sauce and Moroccan hot sauce. I wish they had a garlic sauce like Cava but it's still yummy.

Oh my goodness! I was sooooo surprised when I tasted my salad/bowl; it was delicious! The way you pick a bowl or wrap, protein( chicken; steak; vegan steak; mushroom mix), sauces( up to three, I.r., feta mix, different hummus's, and others ), and then toppings galore- more veggies and crispy toppings like spicy crisp garbanzo beans(YUM!) Your bowl or wrap has a base of salad greens, kale, spinach, couscous, and salted garbanzo beans. I mean it was very easy to put together a healthy lunch. They also have fresh dropped mini samosas and pita chips that were amazing. If you like a little spice then add the garlic jalapeño sauce and the Moroccan Hot sauce. The only drawback was that it was FREEZING in there. I need a comfortable temperature in the establishment so that I can enjoy my food but I solved that and sat outside so I survived that. The young man servicing us was pleasant and helpful. I think it will he my new lunch fav- easy! $15-20

I was very happy to find this Mediterranean place in Alameda. You order either a pita, wrap, or bowl, and then you customize it however you want. You can choose a protein then add the extras you want. Some of the extras cost extra, but there are also plenty of free extras as well. Some of the free extras (like beets) are pretty skimpy though. One thing I learned is there are different types of couscous. I've always been accustomed to the Israeli couscous, which are tiny pearl-like pastas. But here, they have Moroccan couscous, which is more like a grain. This tasted great in the salad. What we had.. + Chicken shawarma wrap - Very well put together and very tasty. However, it was a bit smaller than wraps from Kebab Shop or Halal Guys. + Chicken shawarma bowl - I added a lot of extras, and somehow it all tasted great together. The hummus was quite a bit thicker than I'm used to. The texture wasn't conducive to mixing with your salad or for dipping your pita in, but still very tasty. Overall, this was a happy find.

First time here as a recommendation from coworkers. I was told it's like Chipotle but for Mediterranean food. All I can say is whatever you choose it will be delicious! Had a wrap made and wish it was wrapped better, with all the delicious ingredients I chose, the wrap just fell apart and had to eat with a fork; I was using more napkins than necessary. Lunch rush was not bad and was able to sit outside and enjoy the weather. read more

Tried this place, loved it! I had a chicken shawarma bowl and my son tried the moroccan beef wrap. Both were delicious, light and nutritious. We had pineapple vanilla creme soda, that was fun and refreshing. Great service and very clean place. The "style" of food is like Mediterranean Chipotle , you pick a bowl, pita, or wrap.... fun choices to choose from. read more

I stopped in last night; everything looked really good, but we'd already had dinner. I promised the manager? Owner? we'd be back tonight. And my wife and I did return. The two stars are because she ordered her meal and really enjoyed her food. I hadn't made up my mind, so took a couple minutes. When I tried to order the first time, both of the workers behind the counter looked at me without saying anything. So I tried again- told the guy I was ready to order. He repeated back to me "wrap?" then started making another meal. I figured out someone else had already been waiting. Fair enough. I looked at the woman standing behind the add-ins, but she didn't do anything. I looked at the manager/owner standing by the cash register, also doing nothing. My wife looked at me. I told her no one would take my order. I tried one more time to order a wrap (by this time the guy had finished making the other order). Three people doing nothing, and I still couldn't get anyone to take mine. I finally told her to go ahead & pay and I'd have to order something elsewhere. As she paid (and tipped, BTW), I told the manager/owner that I'd tried to order 3 times and no one took my order. His response? "Sorry about that." No "sorry about that, let me get you right now." No "I'm sorry, it's hard to hear behind the partition, let me help you now." Nothing. I went down the street to the falafel place that's been in Alameda forever. I would have preferred Falafel Republic, because I like the idea and my wife said it was good. But they need to learn a few things about customer service. read more

If you love fresh and flavorful food fast then you'll want to grab a bite here! My husband and I both ordered bowls and picked our favorite Mediterranean flavors (easy step by step instructions) and they were both wonderful. We added some pita chips - Trust me, you WILL want these too. Service was great eventhough we didn't realize they were closing soon. The resturant and behind the counter was extremely clean. We sat in the window and enjoyed watching Saturday evening shenanigans. read more

I like this place a lot but my meal this evening left me with a major gripe. My wrap was massive and falling apart at the seams - it was impossible to eat as a hand-held item (which was why I ordered it vs a bowl). My suggestion is to train the staff to wrap it tightly like a burrito, and/or limit the number of items for a wrap in order to allow for it to be actually "wrapped." read more

Great service, new hires were so nice and eager to learn about Mediterranean food! The spicy hummus was just the correct amount of spicy (mild and zesty). If you're still here, and like spice, please try "Grammas Sauce" aka Zhough!! I love that its on a main road and close to almost all the shops, it was just the right amount of loud and happy for Alameda. The service was great! I ordered on a connected app and as soon as I walked in they said my name (well I ordered towards closing time). They made sure I had everything and was concerned about a cupholder they gave me to hold to drinks. It was not sturdy and I was rushing to back home, but they expressed right away to give me a better cupholder. The food was delicious and great amount. It was a steak hummus wrap. The restaurant was immaculate as well. I'm really happy that we got one of these in Alameda. Something new, different, and healthy! read more

Had one of their wraps with traditional hummus, eggplant hummus and tzatziki with chicken shawarma and various other delicious fillings. We got an order of their sweet potato waffle fries as well. Really good high quality food with great flavor. Staff was friendly and welcoming. Very excited to come back and try some of their other food options. Great new addition to Alameda! read more

I went to this spot recently. It was AMAZING. I had a spinach wrap with shwarma chicken and steak. It was so flipping delicious. They also have these specialty sodas. I had the pineapple cream soda, it was a game changer. It's my new favorite. The customer service was great. My server was friendly and helpful. They also rolled my wrap perfectly. I hate when you get a wrap and the food on the inside is unevenly distributed. Each bite of my wrap was perfect. I will definitely be going back. read more

Food is good but service sucks so bad. I placed my order at 11:30. My simple order of an Earth Burger was not ready until 12pm. It should not take 30 mins for a burger when there was no one else in the restaurant. The two young men working were just standing around doing nothing. So disappointing! read more

This new spot has some fantastic options if you're looking for a healthy, affordable meal. On top of that, the staff have some helpful insight if you do not have much prior knowledge on mediterranean food (like myself). I really enjoyed my pita wrap, and a few of the additions that stood out to me were the zesty feta hummus and the chicken shawarma. The establishment is also impressively clean and polished, and the workers took appropriate sanitary steps to ensure safety. A great, new healthy choice for us here in Alameda...!!! We've ordered GrubHub delivery twice now over the past month and each time, have thoroughly enjoyed our meals from Hummus Republic. My youngest daughter turned us on to it, having ordered from them while at UCSB and gave it her "two thumbs UP"..!!! We're partial to their bowls, and with one vegetarian in the family, that has not stopped us from ordering them exactly how we like them, with so many options to "build your own". We love the fresh and healthy options, I personally am partial to the "shawarma" protein combo on mine, chicken and mushrooms, then keeping it traditional with the kalamata olive hummus and tzatziki, over couscous, warm garbanzo beans and spinach, finishing with a variety of the "free" toppings....everything blends so well together, it's like "a party in your mouth"...!!! PLUS, we always get a couple of bags of the pita chips, so tasty by themselves, but also a great way to "scoop up all the extra hummus" from your bowl...!!! If convenient and the next time we're in the area, I look forward to experience "dining in", but until then, we hope to continue to enjoy this great food thru home delivery...!!! read more

I highly recommend Hummus Republic!! I have used them for catering twice now, and the food was fresh and delicious both times. They offer a huge variety, so it's easy to please everyone. The sauces are unparalleled. My colleagues asked me to use Hummus Republic again for our next event! The owner is incredibly friendly and accommodating. Love middle eastern food and was looking forward to trying this place out. Unfortunately, I was not at all impressed with the quality and over all value. The falafel was bland at best and dry and the chicken was a little cold. I get that this is fast food, but for the price I was expecting a little more. This is our third time visiting this Hummus Republic in Alameda. Staff is super friendly and helpful with the ordering process. I had the pita with Moroccan steak, spinach, tzatziki and traditional hummus, topped with diced cucumber, olives and feta. All the ingredients here seemed really fresh. It seems like a healthy option for fast casual. The portions are very generous and it is cool that they let you have unlimited toppings. The lemonades are really refreshing. It is good for picky eaters, too, since you can select the toppings and get as little or as much as you want. I went with my son and he ate almost the whole bowl. All while tables needed wiping, the bus tub was FULL with dishes, or either of them could have tried to get the soap installed. If there was no one at counter or food to cook it was stand around and stare at our phones. It's just sad Just a subpar experience for as much as food costs these days. Train the staff to stay busy and know how to bus tables and clean. And if you ever order the BLT chicken sandwich make sure to ask for no BBQ sauce. Yuk.

With extra cheese and a tip, the price was almost identical ($12.62 Marhabah vs $12.67 Juice Joint). The first thing you'll notice different about these two burritos is that the one from Marhabah is significantly bigger (see attached photo). The Marhabah burrito is also a lot greasier (it soaked the paper bag through its foil wrapping). That didn't bother me, but it's worth mentioning if you're someone who doesn't like their food to be too greasy. As far as flavor goes, honestly, it was so close that it's hard to decide, but I'm leaning in favor of the flavor of Marhabah's breakfast burrito because I love that the tortilla was kinda "pressed" like a panini (it wasn't squished, but it had those sexy, grill markings), and the vegetables in the Marhabah added just the right flavor and texture to edge out the Juice Joint breakfast burrito. And because I stopped at both places, I got to grab green salsa from Juice Joint to try on the Marhabah burrito. It was good, but this burrito honestly didn't need it. For comparison, I probably wouldn't ever opt to have the Juice Joint burrito without salsa. My verdict is that the Marhabah breakfast burrito is superior to my long-time favorite from Juice Joint. Still, I'll probably alternate just to have variety, but this one is the clear winner. You get more bang for your buck and it's a little bit tastier, too. I'm looking forward to trying their lunch items next! One last thing to add: they did update their menu screens since my last visit, but it looks like one of the TV's screens are already going out. Our entrees were served to us at our table. She got Kai's Plate Lunch with Teriyaki Chicken and Kalua Pork with Fried Rice and a Lilikoi Lemonade to drink. Her order also came with a bowl of Tutu's Mac Salad which was made with spaghetti noodles. I had Syd's Loco Moco with Burger, Portuguese Sausage, two Eggs Over Easy and Gravy on top of Fried Rice. We both enjoyed our meals with the understanding that we would be thirsty for the rest of the day. I found my hamburger, Portuguese Sausage and gravy to be salty. The fried rice was surprisingly good with edamame and bits of red pepper in it. My two Over Easy Eggs were Over Medium as the yolk didn't really run when split open. She said that her Kalua Pork was extremely dry and the Chicken had apparently been marinated for a long time (salty). We both found the Mac Salad interesting. We think we've had this style before but aren't sure. Short spaghetti noodles instead of elbow macaroni and possibly vinegar added. Neither of us was able to finish our order. My wife went inside to get a single clam shell for our leftovers. She was gone quite a long time and when I asked what took so long, she said that the cashier had a hard time getting the receipt out of the printer (lightbulb moment!). I asked if she had paid the bill and she had. I asked to see her receipt and it was for a different amount than what I had paid. I realized the difference was that she had not been charged the $6 upcharge for the second meat on her plate. That also caused an adjustment to the sales tax and gratuity. I told our server that I was afraid that we were going to end up being double charged (this is where i failed miserably). The receipts had two different numbers on them. One was for $70.xx and the other was for $55.xx. The server told me to look at my online receipt and then the in-house receipt. the in- house receipt did not show the last four digits of MY credit card. Of course not, it showed my wife's credit card, which I did not look at until we got home. And of course, when we called the restaurant, they were closed. I never went inside but enjoyed our space outside with Hawaiian Music playing. Loved the vibes but the menu is small and too sodium rich for me.

Everything was delicious - I will be returning many times! I recommend getting multiple sauces and some on the side for your first time to mix and match. The inside leaves much to be desired so we ordered to go and ate in the park instead. The server was a sweet teenager who could use some better customer service training but that's teenagers are known to be awkward and shy. He was very kind and sweet.
