I can't believe this has 152 reviews at 5 stars I suspect those reviews were purchased. The gentleman who answered sounded sweet and kind but the food was no where as authentic as his accent. It was a real turnoff to enter the venue and see only a service counter armed with two helpful high schoolers but the whole "kitchen" was hidden behind closed doors with no windows to display what I hoped would have been shawarma meat spits. Even if the configuration of the operation was different, the food is not even a 2 star review as my wife took one bite and ended up making a PB&J for dinner. Advice to owner put a giant window to showcase the kitchen and meat preparation. First thing, service is always great! The employees are always so welcoming and ready to help you out and ready to break it down for you if it's your first time. Bowls always come with a warm pita bread which is awesome. They have a variety of choices and let you get almost everything if you wanted. Except the hummus, you have a choice of 3 different ones which is more than enough. Been here 3 times in a month and I've been out of state for 2 of those weeks. Will keep coming back! read more

I'm torn between 3 or 4 stars because the food was terrific, the service from a young man was outstanding, but the pricing was a bit much for what we got. Two bowls, two Pellegrinos, and $36 later I was sated and happy but couldn't help thinking we paid too much even for the generous amount of food we received. Pricing on electronic menu was lower than what we were charged. I understand it's been a tough eighteen months in the restaurant industry but it seems everyone is trying to make up for lost profits or added expenses across the board. No ones fault per-say, we all have to make a buck but I doubt we'll be back unless we split a bowl. read more

I ordered thru GrubHub. Since I don't eat meat anymore, I ordered the mushroom Shawarma pita, with tabouli, hummus, cucumbers, tomatoes, and chickpea croutons. The flavor was really good, but I was expecting that it could be picked up and eaten. This could be seen as a good thing, as there was a huge amount of filling - so I had to eat a lot of it with a fork first. it would've been easier if I had just ordered the bowl. My main gripe - and reason I wanted to leave a review was the side order of Dolmades. Totally disgusting - absolutely no different than the gross canned version, which I also threw out after trying one piece years ago. And yes, I realize it's just a side order and usually not great unless ordered from a quality Mediterranean restaurant, but I don't appreciate paying almost $8 for a few cheap, canned, oil-slimed grape leaves. I have made grape leaves before and I know they're a pain in the ass to make - but I would have gladly paid more for a better product, then to overpay for a crappy one. read more

Noticed this place the other day so I decided to stop on my way home from work. I was greeted even before I walked it very welcoming. I was attended to so fast and he gave me the run down on how the menu works and everything. It's kind of chipotle menu vibe but obviously different food. I chose two bowls one chicken (two different flavors) and one shawarma tri tip bowl. The beef I got it loaded with different sauces and hummus. Berry good! So many flavors and none disappointed. My kids ate their food so fast I forgot to grab a photo. I'm very happy with this place and will definitely be back to try more stuff. Oh the pita bread was warm and soft. We had a catering misshap with halal guys, and all our falafels ended up on the floor. With our event already underway, and no more falafels, Hummus Way came to the rescue and saved our event! We lived in middle east for years so hummus, pita bread, vine leaves, shawarma, were all staples in our diet. So, we definitely appreciate good authentic med food. The food and portion is 5 stars - as many have elaborated. The stars taken away was due to owner not wearing mask. We noticed he switched a pair of new plastic disposable gloves after handling every order. But what good is that when there could be cross contamination from himself, the food preparer? The way food was put together here is similar to at a Subway or a Poke bowl joint. You pick the toppings laid out on a pre-prepared open air buffet and he add them to your box. Because there are so many choices, often he advises customers what goes well. Owner is very chatty and friendly. HOWEVER, His face is just inches from the food.... He is talking as he is scooping food from the buffet of salads, olives, peppers, tomatoes, etc onto your box.... It is one thing if his job is to just collect orders and payment from the customers like at some restaurants. But apart from being the chef in the kitchen AND the person who puts together the fresh (uncooked) meal that you will eat, he is also interfacing with all the customers that come in (from food introductions to food prep to collecting payment). In other words, unlike a hot bowl of Pho (god forbid if the Pho cook sneezes into the boiling soup), whatever saliva rests on that prepared salad or open face pita will not die but go straight into your mouth without any intervention. I have no qualms eating off street tacos in Mexico - to show my comfort level of eating out. But we are in the middle of a pandemic where we know the virus, if airborne, can easily transmit and kill. Nothing can beat Little Arabia in Anaheim. But if you feel like skipping the sometimes overwhelming joie de vivre of the locals go and try out Hummus Way! It's tucked away in a small strip mall of maybe 6 shops. It's quiet and modest. The quality of ingredients is very close to the restaurants in Little Arabia. The staff is very polite and welcoming. The food is pretty outstanding. Great, fresh ingredients. Lots of toppings to choose from. When I don't want to spend 20mins waiting for manaeesh and 45 mins learning about the owners brother in law building freeways in Australia, I come to Hummus Way. It's quiet, the staff is busy but welcoming, and the food is a billion times tastier and healthier than your average fast food options. The reason it gets only 4 stars is because out of the 3 times I've been there they have forgotten to include something that I wanted included in my order. You can order a wrap, open faced pjta, bowl or wedges and then customize with sauces and toppings. We ordered a bowl and loaded wedges. You can get your order topped with three sauces, we chose traditional hummus, tzatziki and zesty feta! They have a few different types of hummus and some great toppings like chickpea croutons, pickled cucumbers, tabouleh and crispy onions. So glad I found this new hole-in-the wall Mediterranean restaurant!! It's like Cava and Chipotle combined but so much BETTER! The meats are not the usual shawarma meats you'd taste at other Mediterranean restaurants yet it's so full of flavor and delicious with a little bit of tanginess added to it. I had three different kinds of hummus but I ended up using up the roasted eggplant hummus more as it was super delicious!! The unlimited toppings including the dolmades and variety sauces made my meal super savory! To top it off, the falafels were moist and cooked to perfection (I'm very picky with my falafels!) Oh and can't forget about those finger licking crispy potato wedges !! I also ordered a peach lemonade which was a little too sweet for my liking but very satisfying ! Definitely going back! ROOM FOR IMPROVEMENT: I know this restaurant just opened a few months ago but the guy who made my meal looked clueless and nervous when serving up my food and was not wearing gloves while the owner next to him was which was concerning in terms of COVID GUIDELINES.
