Love the pizza in the bowl. Wish there was a Hungry Howie in my Hometown. We get it every time we are in Lake Placid Fl.

This is one of the finest Italian/Pizza/Sub shops in the area and I've never talked about their awesome cheesesteak! This review rectifies this. Customer Service- So I blew into order my cheesesteak to-go. The young lady at the counter was a little chatty as I am and just fine. It took me maybe two minutes and my sammich was out in about five more. No choice but five stars! Food- So they bake their own rolls here which is a big plus. The gold standard for cheesesteak is an Amoroso roll from the Philadelphia area. These are not that but very good. There was plenty of tender meat with no fatty pieces. Good stuff! Here they add peppers onions & mushrooms, and I have no problem with that, and they were tasty. They use White American cheese, and it was tasty and there was plenty of it. Now for something weird and wonderful. A couple of years ago a good friend asked me to try adding pepperoni to my cheesesteak. I did and it was awesome! I've been doing it ever since and this time it costs me an extra buck. The basic sandwich is $11.99. I brought this bad boy home, and you can see my picture. It was an excellent filling cheesesteak, and I love supporting a local business. Five stars!

By the time our friendly waitress came to take our order, I was ready to follow Steven's advice and try one of their pizzas. It did not take long before a small pie arrived, generously topped with pepperoni, sausage, mushrooms, and onions. The flavors were spot on, and with a sprinkle of red pepper flakes for a little kick, it was perfect. I enjoyed it so much that while we spent the next 20 minutes chatting about travel, Yelp, and my sprinter van, I looked down to find I had polished off the entire pizza without even realizing it. Service was warm and attentive throughout. Our waitress made sure we were well cared for and handled splitting the check with ease. Market 27 also offers a wide variety of drinks, from sodas to beers. I went with a macro brew this time, but next visit I will branch out and try something different. Overall, Market 27 delivered a welcoming atmosphere, delicious food, and great service. It's an excellent choice for a casual meet‑up or a satisfying meal. They have reduced their menu from when they were previously open. Personally a fan of a smaller menu where the kitchen can become very proficient on these offerings. All of us were very pleased with our food. The updated venue was very nice and the parking lot has had a very nice upgrade. Very happy that one of our favorite seafood restaurants is now open again.

The only thing that stayed the same was the name. The entrance is now off the parking lot -- rather than through the back porch or (former) front door. You enter into the bar/counter room. You have to wait to be seated. There's a large board with specials and market prices. If you haven't been here -- as we had not -- since the changes, the prices may come as a shock. Some fish are in the 30 and 40 dollar ranges. We saw several people see the prices and then leave. The free hush puppies and coleslaw are no longer. Even iced tea is now almost $4 a glass -- with no refills suggested or offered. I missed that they no longer have fried oysters, too. My husband was able to find his "go to" shrimp basket still on the menu. This was a decent price. And the shrimp were still lightly battered and tasty. It came with fries and coleslaw. I didn't care for the coleslaw -- a bit too much mayo for me. I got their shrimp and grits. The grits were in one solid cake. A rectangle that had been cubed and fried. They were just okay. A bit hard. The shrimp were good and the gravy not bad. But I wouldn't order this again. The dish comes with a side. They don't tell you, but some of the sides are considered "premium" and there will be an up charge. Make sure you ask so you're not surprised. The "crazy" in their name is now more appropriate. They really should offer a few reasonably priced lunch specials. We did not expect to have a $60 lunch (after tax and tip) -- especially not here in Lake Wales. But I'm glad we came and tried. Now we know.

    - OMG, the lunch buffet is back! -…read more I was munching pizza and quaffing pitchers of beer at Pizza Huts back in the 70s! Yes, I'm a Yelp old fart! Over the years, hundreds of sit-down locations were phased out along with the buffets! They just brought back the buffet here and the nostalgia bug bit me so off I went. Arriving- It's on US Route 27 North with its own private parking lot so simple access. The outside of the building looks like every other sit-down Hut except the color scheme is slightly different. Ambience- This location recently had a complete remodel which maybe is related to the buffet coming back. It's bright & airy and the tables are not crowded. I was very comfortable. Adult Libations- Back in the day most Huts had a beer & wine license. This one is dry. That's a bit of a surprise because B&W licenses in this part of FL are cheap and relatively easy to obtain. Go figure! Customer Service- The buffet begins at 11:00 am and my ticket says I arrived at 11:06. The place was already 50% full and people were streaming in. When I left there was a very short wait. Despite the activity, my service was in a word, spectacular! My server was friendly and very efficient. My plates were whisked away like magic and with a smile. Checkout took seconds. Six stars! Buffet- It hasn't changed much over the decades. I built a salad with a base of lettuce and added cucumber, mushrooms, onions, chopped egg, peppers, cheese and topped it with ranch dressing. Everything was fresh and kept cool. I added a warm bread stick, and it was a fine beginning. Next came multiple slices of pizza, mostly thin crust, and a heap of penne with red sauce. Rince & repeat. Back in the day, many Hut buffets offered a desert pizza. That was missing here but there were cinnamon breadsticks. The buffet + soft drink + tax = $17.07 and I was stuffed. Add a tip and it was a $20 lunch. Not a surprise post-pandemic. Conclusion- You need to manage your expectations when you eat at an inexpensive casual buffet. I noted that a very popular Chinese buffet nearby was about the same price. In Yelp terms, 3 stars = OK and 4 = Good. This experience was somewhere in the middle. The customer service was so excellent I'm going with 4!
