Greeted by kind worker, offered crushed peppers & Parmesan cheese, bagged and received with good day wishes! Appreciated. Clean & safe. Definitely a pick up and go place. Lunchtime! Good amount. Steak, cheese & mushroom sandwich 1/2 was surprisingly Delicious! Tasty steak, cheese & mushroom. Crushed pepper spiced it up! Like a baked sandwich. Came with a fresh side salad too!! Howie's cinnamon bread looks & smells Great too!! I'll add more after dinner! Dinner!! Absolutely DELICIOUS cinnamon bread with icing to make it even better & lots of leftovers!! In this economy, I believe the price point is a little high for what you get.. I would suggest cooking the pizzas a little more thoroughly. In my experience, the pizza tasted good, but it was limp and very hard to hold onto. I like the flavored crust options. They have one of my favorite sausage flavors. The last time I had Hungry Howie's was in 1987 in San Diego. I moved away. Well to my surprise ran into 1 today on Shields in Fresno. Had to order a pizza. Just to see if it was as good now as it was in 87. OMG!!!! FANTASTIC. Ordered deep dish Alfredo sauce chicken bacon green peppers and red onion with garlic herb crust. Extra baked. Live in Porterville waited until we got home to eat. Let me tell you it was amazing. My partner had never eaten Hungry Howie's pizza, it now is his favorite. Very very pleased. Just ordered last night Medium pizza, pepperoni filled breadsticks and it was all amazing. EDIT: I forgot to mention that ordering was really easy too. Im used to calling places instead of using an app or website and most places now get transferred to a call center or the location never answers. Not here. I didn't know they had a hungry Howies in Fresno! I haven't had it since I was a kid. But I ordered some delivery today and it was just as I remembered. Sooo flavorful and tasty. I've always loved the howie bread. Super flavorful outside and really soft inside.Their breadsticks were always fresh/soft. Unlike other pizza chains where I feel like it's been sitting out for way too long. The pizza is good too, but for me personally it was too much cheese. I like a balance of cheese to sauce. If you like a lot of cheese then this is the perfect place for you. The toppings were the right amount though. Not too much and not too little. Overall everything was yummy. Wasn't sure if I wanted to try this location after reading the reviews but this place is undergoing new ownership. I have no regrets after my first visit. I ordered for pick up. I ordered the bbq chicken pizza and the vegetarian pizza.. Must try the bbq chicken pizza. The sauce is very flavorful and the cheese was just the right texture, not too dry. The chicken tasted tender, fresh, and hot. The vegetarian was really good too, better than me n' Ed's which is my go to pizza spot. I also tried the buffalo wings. Stopped by on Valentine's Day after running a few errands since they do heart shaped pizzas. However, I did not get there until after 8pm and they ran out of heart shaped trays. I checked in on Yelp and Yelp had the offer of the free Howie bread as a deal. The menu had no pricing on it at all. I ordered a medium pizza with pepperoni, sausage and green peppers. I showed the girl cashier my offer for a free Howie bread on Yelp. She didn't know what to do so she got another guy, he told me I had to order online to get this deal. I explained the check and yelp deals to him. He had to call his supervisor about it. I almost said forget it, but since I was already waiting and talked to 3 people already, I was not leaving without my free Howie bread that was offered. They did honor it with my order. They told me it was a 20 minute wait. I had to use the restroom, but decided to hold it since they are a tiny to go place with no restroom and waited in my car. I put my timer on for 20 minutes. Went and checked around 15 minutes and they were done with my pizza and free Howie bread. I took it home and waited until my husband was off to have a Valentine's dinner with him. In the pan-theon of Bad Pizza, Horrible Howie's is right down there with all time loser Papa John's. The delivery was late (manager on duty claimed they were "very busy"). No apology whatsoever. the delivery driver reeked of cologne so awful you could smell it before he opened the car door. There was grease from the calzone on the pie box. The pie itself was cold and tasteless, toppings were skimpy and flavor-free, the crust was just plain awful. The only good thing I can say about this crappy pizza was that it did not give us food poisoning. Were it possible to give a place zero stars, I would give this incredible exemplar of How To Mess Up Pizza exactly that. read more

I have ordered here a few times but I think this time will be my last. It wasn't even noon yet (how could a pizza place possibly have that many deliveries at 11 am?!) and it took the full 45 minutes for delivery. Upon delivery, I was not greeted by the driver, he was just some guy with no uniform looking all angry at me and said, "Did you order?" And I said, "yes, do you need to see my card or do I need to sign?" He said nothing, shoved my pizza box in my hand and left. Uhhhh, I was gonna leave a tip. But okay. I hope he doesn't add money to my account because I never authorized it via signature, so for all I know they've added a hefty tip and forged my signature! Talk about unprofessional. And really, he was just wearing a plaid shirt, there isn't a uniform anymore for your drivers??? On to the pizza, it's pretty hard to screw up deep dish pepperoni, but the sauce on my pizza tasted so old and bitter I couldn't eat it anymore. My boyfriend and dad ate the rest. Probably not ordering again, definitely not in the morning when they don't have their crap together for the day. Come on now, guys. Very unprofessional. My pizza didn't have sauce or cheese they said you have to ask for it. I never had a problem before but how they acted when I addressed my concern it really changed my view on this place. I'll never go here again. In my experience, and in the experience of my nerd friends who come over to game weekly, Hungry Howie's is the best pizza to feed a multitude of people-- and personally, I don't mind it for dinner every so often. The pizza at Hungry Howie's is kinda like Little Caesars-- $5 for a Large Pepperoni or Cheese pizza (take out only)-- the difference, however, is that Hungry Howie's pizza is significantly better in quality and taste. The flavored crust is a favorite of many people I eat the pizza with-- it gives you a delicious treat once you've eaten the pizza. My girlfriend and I both feel that the sauce is the most important part of a pizza and we ask for extra sauce on all of our pizzas-- and hungry howies (for a $1.50 more [worth it]) will slather the pizza with their delicious sauce. The cheese is thick and gooey every time and their toppings, the ones I've had, are extremely good. Now, keep in mind, all the things that I am saying are relative-- compared to a fancy restaurant or homemade pizza, it isn't excellent pizza-- but the quality, flavor and convenience of their pizza makes it quite easily the best cheap pizza you can get-- it beats Pizza Hut and Dominoes in quality in my opinion and as far as that realm of pizza goes-- you can't get much better. Also-- the service that I have received at Cedar/Shields is nothing but fantastic. The employees seem to understand the importance of friendliness and they've always gotten our pizzas done in a timely manner. read more

We LOVE Hungry Bowie's Pizza. We used to get pizza from Pizza Hut... then they stopped delivering by us, and it was always super expensive and hit and miss on flavor. Then we started to get Me and Ed's by our house and it was okay. In the in-between times a $5 hot and ready from Little Caesar's was the way to go... then one day there was this invitation in our mailbox (coupons) to Hungry Howies... we decided okay (it was a really good deal). Found out they had an ordering app, magically flavored crust, they actually put a lot of cheese on the pizza and will make it just how you want it! The pizza is the best pizza we have ever had and my husband and I are pizza people... fancy pizza, non-fancy pizza, even "weird" pizza... Hu fry Howies is hands down the best!!! We don't have to wait long from time of order to delivery (Me and Ed's always took more than an hour!). The food is hot and well presented. And my husband told me I had to write that their cinnamon Howies bread is amaZing!!!! I used to be a Hawaiian pizza gal... same pizza every time. Based off of the multiple positive experiences we have had in the past I can say without a doubt that this location has been nothing but disappointing. Every order has been late and horridly subpar. The most recent completely ignored our request for sides, gave the wrong bread, and completely screwed up a chef salad, which I didn't even realize was possible. The pizza is surprisingly delicious and the crust is mouth-watering. However, it stops there as in if you want to get ahold of them through their business phone in the middle of the day is impossible. I was on the phone with their automatic voice person telling me the deals and whatever while waiting for one of them to pick up., well, lo and behold no one picked up after 3 separate calls. The first one was around 30 minutes, the second one was around 45 minutes, and the last one was around the same. I called the corporate office to see if they would get ahold of them for me and they said they would. They put me on hold in the meantime and I waited for nearly 2 hours. I am telling myself if Hungry Howie's headquarters makes me wait this long then why should each franchise be any faster. No sense of urgency and the customer relations here at Hungry Howies are abysmal. I guess I hear that some of their employees smoke weed on the job so they are probably all getting high while neglecting customers. Sad. read more

The delivery was always on time and what makes it great for me is the different types of crust flavors. There are so many different possible combinations and the prices are more than reasonable.
