Went here for a rooftop dinner while vacationing NSB. We did call ahead because we weren't too sure about wait times which was super helpful! We arrived and didn't have a wait at all. The rooftop area is lively and great views especially at sunset. We were seated right next to the bar which made for a louder experience. We were all really pleased with the food and drinks, I would definitely recommend the sliders and the duck fat fries!! First and foremost, I have to give a shoutout to Ashley. She took care of us. I asked her about different things on the menu and she was very helpful in the answers. You could tell she definitely ate everything on the menu at least once; not faking it. This is the place to go on happy hour! We went for the oysters and took down oysters, nachos, and rolls. If you love oysters, this is your jam. Try the peach hot sauce (Ashley recommended it); you will not regret it. My friends each got bottles to take home. The speciality oysters are fantastic. I usually don't stray from raw but in this case I had to make several exceptions. The photos should help understand why. The rooftop is a perfect place to eat on any kind of weather day. I came here on a solo beach day trip. It was a wonderful way to end the day. I was seated upstairs on the rooftop and it was such a relaxing view. They had 90s music playing not too loud. The waiter was very kind and gave me his suggestions. I had the Chicken and Shrimp Bao with the Citrus Sticky Rice. The rice was awesome it had pineapple, mango and coconut milk in it.. i would deff pair this with any seafood protein as a side. We love Avenu and stop by every time we visit New Smyrna Beach. Yesterday we made happy hour, which is great with food and drink prices. We had a nice glass of wine along with Shrimp and Scallop egg rolls, the Kona seafood chowder and a bacon jam slider. Easy to see why that chowder has won awards. The service was excellent as always. The bartenders are friendly and attentive. The restaurant is beautiful... three floors of art, gorgeous details and comfortable seating. We prefer the rooftop bar but there's one downstairs as well. After a morning at the beach, we came to Avanu for lunch and had a good experience. The restaurant is absolutely beautiful with great air conditioning and a pretty rooftop. We were able to get seated immediately and service was good. To drink, I got the Purple linen. It was bad. It wasn't really purple and I couldn't taste any gin. It just tasted like sparkling cucumber lemon water. I replaced it with an Aperol spritz, which was very good. My mom got the frozen pina colada and the rope of pearls cocktail and loved them both. It seems the purple linen was a one off bad experience since everything else was tasty. I appreciated that they replaced the drink. For an appetizer, we got the duck fat fried French fries. They were very good and a great portion for sharing. They were hot, crisp, and had parm on top. For my entree, I got the fresh catch sandwich with blackened Mahi Mahi and curly fries. The fish was perfectly cooked and the lemon aioli it came with was absolutely delicious. The fries were nice and fresh too. My mom got 3 bao buns and loved them. The Asian slaw they came with was also very tasty. The portions were good for the price. Overall, we liked it here and will definitely come back. read more

One of the only places to get sushi in new Smyrna beach really great view strong drinks however the sushi, and poke nachos were seriously underwhelming, I have to rate it a one star because the sushi roll which was a spicy tuna was extremely disappointing in 3 ways #1 the tuna itself wasn't flavourful it was slightly sweet and the panko mix didn't help normally spiciness would be mixed into the tuna, #2 the sushi rice was too sweet and too wet not enough vinegar, #3 there was too much panko vs tuna. And no real spiciness. The poke nachos while a big portion wasn't executed right the wontons held about 95% of the total plate while the jalapeño and poke was last 5% the wasabi aioli didn't have a strong enough wasabi taste and the wontons didn't have enough of a crunch. I would suggest a smaller plate with a more even ratio and more spiciness Also oysters at 6$ a dozen great deal but still the oysters didn't look as fresh but at 6$ you're not expecting top notch so they get a pass on that. We visited twice during our trip to NSB (New Smyrna Beach). The first was 5/13, Patrick was our amazing server and 5/15 with Briana. Management definitely found two great employees as they made both visits memorable, fun and so enjoyable. On both visits we had the half order or pork nachos on HH. This 1/2 order is larger than most restaurants full order at a fraction of the cost. They were absolutely delicious. I wasn't a fan however of the Bulgogi Bao Bun. Slightly soggy and not much flavor but the pork on the nachos was so tasty I forgot all about the bun. This restaurant upstairs had such a nice breeze on both visits. One thing about the breeze, do not leave the large drink menu standing as it fell over spilling my drink lol. My bad. Such a fun place, very relaxing. Good for families, couples, large parties etc. The restaurant and bathrooms were very clean. We look forward to coming again soon. read more

Brunch was great! Drinks always on point. 3 levels of dining. Bottom 2 indoors. Shaded rooftop dining with full bar, tvs, fans... and saw a live rocket launch from nearby Cape Canaveral. If you're eating here at the weekend ask for Caen. While the rest of the service team are great, Caen is an exceptional sever. It was my first time eating at Avanu and I'm a fan. I stopped in for a quick bite on a busy Saturday and chose the indoor, and air conditioned, option downstairs. Food was great. The drinks list is compact and has something for everyone. The upstairs area overlooks Flagler Ave and in addition to being a big space has live music, and a great big bar. It was too warm for me on this visit but next time I'll look to sit up there. read more

We went during happy hour and all my friends got oysters but I'm not an oyster girl personally. Some enjoyed. Some thought they were rubbery. The happy hour deal is $1 regular oysters, $2 specialty oysters and $4 well drinks. 3. Drinks were hit or miss for our table. I got the carribbean tini and it tasted great, loved all the fruity flavors! 2 of my friends got the blackberry cocktail and said it was WAY too strong. My other 2 friends got the orange dreamsicle, but said there was no orange; and a coastal coconut and enjoyed it. 4. Time for the review of the actual food. Majority of the table got bao buns - the general consensus was that they loved the pork belly bao, and weren't crazy about the other flavors they ordered. My friend that got a salmon roll said the rice was mushy but the fish was great. I got the short rib and gouda risotto, and I OBVIOUSLY got the best dish at the table. Short rib was tender and asian flavors were GREAT. The Gouda risotto was different- in a good way. For my first time having risotto, I LOVED everything about this dish. Avanu is a three story restaurant located in the heart of Flagler Ave. As a local, I've been wanting to try this place for a while and was excited to bring my mom here for the first time! Upon entry, you are greeted by a beautiful downstairs area and can use either the stairs or elevator to reach the top floor. They have these screens on the top floor that can be lowered or raised based on the weather which is wonderful to have in Florida. The staff were overall friendly but the service was extremely slow. It wasn't busy and our food took over an hour. Sadly, our waitress was also nowhere to be found. As a seafood lover, I was excited to try several different options. We ordered the shrimp appetizer which was a creative combination of shrimp, cream cheese, bacon with a sweet chili sauce. My mom ordered the bao buns and was disappointed that they fry the buns. The contents were delicious but you miss the fluffy cloud like texture of a traditionally prepared bao. I got the poke stack which consisted of cold rice topped with hard mango, tuna and seaweed salad. Given the prices, you'd expect more from the food. With some improvements in the service and elevation of the food, this place has the potential to be among the rest of the great restaurants on Flagler. read more

This place was gorgeous. The main floor is a very sleek dark bar atmosphere. The upstairs was open air dining with beautiful views of the surrounding areas. My fiancé and I recent visited in NYE, Dallas served us at one of the patio tables. Dallas is so warm and friendly & full of menu insight. He helped me decide on the poke stack (SO worth it). The few cold nights we get are rescued by the heaters located throughout the patio and the abundance of TV's are a great addition for game days. The best part? Live music... like all the time. We were directed up to the third floor, where we were seated at a high top promptly. The view from the third floor, sets a great scene for dining. Then came our smiling server, Jess. She is a top notch server by anyone's measure. If you had a question, she had a suggestion that made your choice better. Whatever you needed she was there at the time that you needed it. A quick look from across the room with a thumbs up just to make sure everything was going well tells you she takes great care of her tables. Our beverage order came quickly soon, followed by half a dozen oysters and pork dumplings appetizer. Our meals consisted of Sticky short ribs with Gouda risotto, Steak fried rice, & bulgogi and pork bao buns with Gouda risotto and seaweed salad sides. We would order everything again. The food was all fresh, very delicious and just the right portion. You can even purchase one of their really cool branded glasses, which I have proudly been drinking out of all week long!
