My Husband and I eat at Huot's every time we are visiting friends in Maine! I had never had Haddock and was excited to try it...I was not dissapointed. The fish was firm but tender and cooked perfectly. My Husband had the Shrimp Scampi and it too was perfectly cooked and a mouth full of garlic deliciousness! We love the way the staff makes you feel like you are long lost friends and right at home. The lively atmosphere and great bar adds a sense of celebration to the whole experience. read more

This place was great. we were there for a week and our motel told us about this place and I am very glad they did. I had the clam chowder and it was not as creamy as most but was very good. Had the clam cake and it was very inexpensive and just ok. my wife had the baked haddock and it was average. I had the fried seafood platter with clams and scallops and it was perfect. The clams were fresh and very lightly breaded . the scallops were juicy and lightly breaded as well.. hands down the best fried seafood I have ever had... It was so good we went back again and this time i brought the familily and every one loved there meals.. One had the steak and said is was very good. I had the same of course. and the rest had the special.. Clam cakes and every one loved them. some on a salad and others just had the meal.. I tried some of my wifes and it was one of the best I have had.. Great find and will go back for sure the next time we are at OOB. read more

Huot's is a good default place we visit when we're in Saco. Atmosphere Friendly (for families). Good area while waiting for a table ( at the bar at the rear ). Modern, clean. Service Very good in the dozen or more times we've visited. Wait staff seem attentive and pleasant. Food wait time - fast - takes about the time you'd expect (I'm averaging all meals here)... Food Mixed bag. So much is fresh (haddock, clams, lobster) ... and decent but the meal falls down - if only slightly - on side dishes that don't measure up. Sides - crinkly fries from a frozen bag (I asked) ... doesn't fit the freshness of the rest of the meal (hand cuts or perhaps sweet potato would be nice) - coleslaw is sweet, a little too wet for my tastes, nothing special. - side of corn (canned - off the cob) was overcooked (obviously not in season, no dings due to freshness) summary of 4 meals during last visit - Lobster roll and fried haddock sandwich & dinner were good (crinkly fries noted above) - Haddock dinner was 2 huge pieces (had to take one home - perfectly cooked) - Fried clam plate - seemed oily. Comparing fried haddock (clean, light, lightly breaded) and (fried) clam plate. Seemed like the 2 meals came from different fryers and the clams were done in older oil. We didn't finish them. This may be a one-time occurrence Dessert Only looked at Chocolate Pie. It was a large slice. Over the last 10 years, we've been here 15-20 times at least - trying different things. Owned by my dads childhood friends granddaughter so my family insisted I go on my vacation to Maine. I heard the clam cakes were amazing and even though I do not like clam cakes or crab cakes (and have tried many that I was told were the best) , I was "threatened" if I didn't try one! So I did. OMG! That was the BEST clam cake ever! WOW! OK, now that I have that off my chest, and I'm salivating thinking about that clam cake...I had made reservations and was seated promptly, waited on promptly (great service). Since we were told how amazing the fried clams were, all of us in the party, except two, ordered them. Not one of us were disappointed. Mounds of yummy food- and I do mean mounds! The other party member ordered Scallops and shrimp (I'm very pleased to say he gave me a few scallops- which were amazing) and haddock (which I sampled and it was equally amazing). Huot's is a gem of a restaurant. Their food is delicious and reasonably priced. The baked haddock is wonderful. The atmosphere is that of a family restaurant and the waitstaff are friendly and attentive. If you haven't dined at Huot's I suggest you do so soon. read more

Huot's was... Pretty good, but I was not blown away. It was my first meal in maine, and at the time I thought it was amazing but when I continued to go out for seafood over the next week, I realized that Huot's is just pretty good. It can get pretty crowded on a weekend night, so be prepared for a wait. Their walk-up take-out window seems to run pretty efficiently though, if you're really hungry and don't want to pay a tip. Our server was very friendly and attentive. We had the lobster roll (delicious! Perfectly toasted potato roll, Served with mayo on the side- I liked having an option), fried haddock sandwich (the haddock filet was huge), and a crab cake (not so great). The tartar sauce they serve with the crab cake is SO good and way better than the tartar sauce they serve in the large squeeze bottle... Prices are reasonable. I'd go back. read more

Busy Friday night...waited about 45 minutes for a table. Hostesses were very nice and efficient. Got seated and the waitress was great. This is a true hidden gem. In an area with so many options for dining this place needs to be on the list. Value is amazing....the service was spectacular... I had a member of my party who has problems sitting so I asked if we could change tables and there was no hesitation. Portions were great. Went this evening to visit my aunt to celebrate her 91st birthday and get this she treated my wife and I to dinner. We got take out and she ordered a clam cake burger while my wife and I decided to have the fried haddock sandwich. The burger and sandwiches all came on a huge toasted Kaiser roll. Our sandwich was over flowing with a large piece of haddock, enough for dinner this evening and lunch tomorrow, however both my wife and I ate the whole thing. I didn't get a chance to ask my aunt how tasty her clam cake burger was, but she did reveal that she was going to save half for lunch and let's just say she devoured the first half. We did notice, when we picked up our order the line to eat in was out the door, so if you choose to dine here on a Friday night, expect to wait a bit. The positive is that the veiw is spextacular. With all this in mind, and if you are hankering for large portions of seafood at a reasonable price, Huots is definitely the place to go. read more

A hidden gem, we found Huots last year and now they have become our go to place for dinner. The shrimp scampi is really good as well as all the fried seafood plates. This place was awful. It was recommended by our hotel and was just starting to draw a crowd when we got there, so we expected something good. The food was incredibly expensive and was obviously reheated from frozen. My lobster roll was ice cold and tasteless. My husband had a mediocre meal as well. Worst of all, our meal was over $50 for just two dishes and two drinks. I can't believe we spent that much money for such terrible food. We would have been happier ordering a pizza tonight... but when in Maine, get seafood. It's a shame we stopped at this place first. I'm incredibly disappointed. read more

Delicious lobster rolls but INCREDIBLY EXPENSIVE. The clam cakes used to be the best-tasting we've we're ever tasted... until this year, May 2013! Although this place isn't much for decor I didn't come here for that. I've been coming here off and on for 6 years a I must admit the fried haddock is the best. Wonderful place to eat, great service! We arrived at cam Ellis on September 19th, it was the last day of the season for Huots! So glad we got a chance to eat here. We had the haddock and a lobster roll. Both were excellent however the backed haddock was fantastic. I have never had haddock and will definitely eat this again. My dear friend was visiting from school and I wanted to get her out to try some Maine seafood! Huot's was by and far the most recommended from friends and family, and we were not disappointed. We grabbed takeout, and our meals ended up being about 36 dollars together, which I didn't find too bad, as she grabbed a fried haddock dinner and I got a combined haddock and scallop plate. The service was speedy and pleasant, and I was rather surprised how quick it was! We waited about twenty minutes to eat because we were meeting my mother for ice cream, but even with it cooling down a little, the fries and seafood remained fresh and crispy! The fish on both ends was positively delightful, and the fries and coleslaw were perfect accompaniments. The scallops were absolutely delicious, and perfectly cooked except for one! They lacked full disclosure over the phone, while making the reservation to inform us they did not have the ability to accommodate our family.
