Paul and Anna hosted my mother's after funeral reception and I could not be more pleased with the customer service and food they provided. They stayed true to every quote for our modest budget, providing a gorgeous 3rd floor rooftop bar space with an adjoining room. Our servers and bartender were excellent. The appetizer food served was well beyond my expectations, it was all very fresh and all made in house not out of a box from a freezer, the selections were great, the price unbelievably fair for what they served. The food and service was so good that when after the guests all left, many of us went to the second floor for a late lunch, and again the food and service were outstanding. Loved the beautiful old wood bar and booths set in to the walls at the top of the stairs there, but the area we sat in was gorgeous, oak panelled with two large tables and an adjoining roof deck patio. I had such a great time there, it turned a sad reason to gather in to a celebration of my mothers life with such class and ambiance that I think I will visit for years to come just to relive the moment again in some small way. Very accommodating and a great bar space. The food is good and some dishes are great. Fish n chips are pretty typical. Fries are outstanding. I had the shrimp scampi. The shrimp get a little tough but the flavor is ok. Salads are very cold and plentiful. The Caesar was great. Chicken pot pie is really good as was the burger. Drink refills were hard to get. Came here for lunch before Hadestown. The food is traditional, hardy pub food. Ordered the cheeseburger and it was juicy, perfectly cooked (medium) with fresh condiments (tomato, onion and lettuce). Enjoyed it very much! My friend had the steak salad which he said was great. They were out of several beers on top and ideally would have loved to sit outdoors but was told we can pick anyplace inside vs being offered outdoors or indoors seating. I visited NYC this weekend for the first time after moving away decades ago. I stayed right in the center of Times Square, and used Yelp to find a true New York Irish "pub" instead of some rip-off tourist trap. I wasn't disappointed. Loved the place, the ambience, the warmth. Most important: I'm not a huge eater, so I just ordered a dozen stuffed clams to go with my two Guinesses. (Okay, maybe it was three.) I'm 67, and I can say without a doubt, these were the most delicious stuffed clams I've ever eaten in my long life...by far. In fact, I could rank these in the top 5 of ANYTHING I've eaten over the past decades. I don't know what the heck they do, but I would kill for this recipe to try it at home. There must be some kind of liquor in the stuffing, plus whatever herbs and spices, but it's food of the Gods. Also, these are nice and big, not skimpy little things, so a dozen is definitely a full meal for most people. If the owners are reading this, name your price to sell me the recipe. What a great find yesterday for a yummy lunch and some drinks before the show across the street. The bar is amazingly long and there is one on the other side of the establishment. Went before a show as many people seem to do. My wife and I were hungry after traveling most of the morning so we stopped at Hurley's for lunch. I ordered the Handcrafted Veggie Burger and my wife ordered the Vineyard Chicken Sandwich. Both came with fries that we both thought were good. As far as the sandwiches, they were both very good. My veggie burger tasted great, but I would have liked to have more of the tomato pesto because I think it was kind of lost with the cheese. But still I thought it was tasty. Why we chose Hurley's: - The service was impeccable, not only by the owner/manager but the servers, barmen, bussers... everyone we encountered looked like they actually enjoyed working there. - They didn't make us pay an exorbitant amount of money to book their private dining area! NYC prices are ridiculous. Most restaurants will make you pay a room fee AND THEN the bill. Hurley's just gave us the room, because that's how it should be! - Our private dinner was in the Oak Room. It was so intimate and beautiful with hardwood details. They allowed us to set up flowers on the tables and create our own customized menu. They basically turned a very stressful time into a really fun one by working with us. The food was ok. I mean, it's pub food, it's not fancy pants dining, but we opted for a 3-course meal for our guests and everyone really enjoyed it. The pecan pie at the end was to die for! A wonderful pub-style restaurant across from the Walter Kerr theater. I had their Ultimate Pub Burger, and it is delicious. More than a mouthful, so bring a good appetite and have your napkin handy if you're going out afterwards. It's saucy in all the right ways. Their fries are also done right. My daughter loved the lobster bisque, and I must say it did look exactly the way a good bisque should. Came here in the early evening to grab some drinks and a snack with some friends! We ran into Michael Cera, which was cool, and the place overall was really chill. I tried the Strongbow Cider, and it was really tasty!! It was not too strong and not too dilute...a perfect light drink. While two of my friends share fries, another friend and I shared the pizza margarita. It had a crispy thin crust and it was delicious. Some of the best bar food I've had! The place itself had a nice vibe. It was warm inside and there was a good mix of people. The layout with the two sides of the bar was nice as well! Keep walkin'. My hubby and I came here before catching Phantom of the Opera on Broadway. We were all dressed up and ready for a night on the town. I should have listened to my gut when we were led upstairs and we were the only ones there :/ I ordered the French Onion soup which was very watery. I also ordered a chicken salad which said NOTHING about tomatoes being on it. I am allergic to tomatoes, and granted, I guess I should have asked, but I didn't - but I did specifically look to see if tomatoes were listed. Well, of course, my salad comes out and it is loaded with tomatoes - as in the same amount of tomatoes as there is lettuce. I asked the waiter about it, explained my situation, and he was clearly annoyed and said he'd have the cook "pick it out". Thanks. I can do that myself. However, with all the tomatoes on there, it'd take me all day and I still wouldn't be able to eat it because of the remnants on the lettuce. So, I didn't even touch it. The waiter came back to take our plates and didn't comment once that my salad left the table the same way it arrived. Completely and utterly disappointing. The place isn't cheap, either. Thank God they served bread. While having a beer downstairs, we observed a girl speaking loudly on her cellphone, lying down in the booth right by the front door. See the photo I posted. We could see up her skirt at times, and I thought she was probably a patron who had too much to drink. When I mentioned something to the bartender, she said, "Oh her? She works here. She is the hostess." What, what??? Dang. The bartender downstairs was the most redeeming quality. I want to say her name was Lisa (?) and she was very sweet, and poured us nice drinks, and gave good conversation. I hope she has found a place better suited for her by now.... read more

Server was amazing but we hadn't seen her in a minute so I decided to ask the bartender, who wasn't busy and just chatting with a customer, if I could settle with her without affecting my server's tip. I purposely tried to not interrupt her side conversation since I hadn't been sitting at the bar but when I was my turn and I tried to ask if I could pay her she was very rude and interrupted me before I could even get my question out. I have no problem with her not being able to close someone else's tab but it wouldn't have taken any less time to be polite about it. I've had several public facing jobs and now that being nice doesn't make your job harder and should be the bare minimum. Definitely the type of thing I wouldn't come back over. read more

I had the chance to go to Hurley's after attending a dinner in their private dinning space. Located near the heart of Times Square, it was easily accessible by all trains and not hard to find given the huge marquee outside. On the inside the space is like most bar/restaurants in the area. On the first floor a long wrapping bar caters to both the east and the west sides of the space (bathrooms located in the back). Their private dining area is located on the second floor. The space itself is set up in a similar fashion as downstairs, with dining tables for four lined against the walls all the way from the front to the back. On the east side they have a fully stocked bar which serves patrons for the events as well. When it came time to order I went with the french onion soup ($8), the steakhouse salad ($17), and the New York cheesecake for desert. All the dishes were well prepared and the steak that came with the salad was actually pretty good quality. The tomato, fresh mozzarella and dressing made for a nice pairing. The service here was alright too. The staff was efficient in taking our orders, refilling glasses, and giving us the checks. I'll definitely commend them for being able to handle a large group in a tight space. read more

Flew in to town on La Sunday when the Cowboys were playing the Eagles for NFC division crown (2018) and Yelp suggested. Turns out they had a lot of teams represented in both bars. When you first walk in it might appear crowded or no empty seats. Come in and go to back then turn right, there is a whole other bar with plenty of Televisions. It's a typical NY Irish bar in that is the food served. The Chicken pot pie is more chicken soup with a puff pastry on top. It's good and filling.
