Such a cool concept, but more importantly, the food and drinks absolutely delivered. We started with the Lobstercargots -- chunks of lobster baked in herbed garlic butter and served with fresh-baked focaccia for dipping. Forget escargot; this is the way to do it. The bread soaking up that garlic butter might have been worth the trip by itself. The Bistro Blue Tomato Soup was fantastic. Rich, smooth and full of flavor, with the signature syringe of Grey Goose. "Goose the soup!" Great presentation and even better soup. For the main course, the Famous Bistro Bouillabaisse was outstanding. Lobster tail, Gulf shrimp, grouper, mussels and clams in a saffron tomato broth, with more fresh-baked bread for dipping. Beautiful dish and absolutely delicious. And then there's the Street Corn Named Desire cocktail made with butter-washed tequila. What a drink! The street-corn garnish and seasoned rim make it one of the most creative cocktails I've had in a long time -- and it tastes as good as it looks. The lobstercargot were rich and delicious, the warm brioche rolls with maple butter were dangerously good. We tried both versions of the grouper, our entrées were beautifully presented and packed with flavor, fish cooked perfectly. Everything felt thoughtful and elevated without being stuffy. We had to finish with two dessert cocktails off the "clinical trials" menu, one was a tequila espresso martini, and one was a take on a Dubai chocolate martini. Perfect ending! The atmosphere is cozy, unique, and a little unexpected--exactly the kind of place I love finding while traveling. Definitely worth an "appointment" if you're on Anna Maria Island.

My espresso martini was mediocre at best. My friend had the lemon drop, which was equally lackluster. Then came the $30 smoked Old Fashioned, which should have been impressive at that price point but was incredibly disappointing. We were also told they infuse their own vanilla into the vodka. Whatever they're using or doing with it, the end result tasted incredibly cheap --not remotely what I'd expect from a premium cocktail program. Then there's the condition of the place itself. There was a wrapped pipe dripping water onto/near a lounge bench, chipped and peeling paint on the walls, and obvious signs that preventive maintenance is desperately needed. The space simply wasn't aesthetically pleasing or maintained at the level the prices and concept would suggest. But it actually got worse when I went to the bathroom. Part of the ceiling appeared to be falling down, water was actively dripping into a bucket, and there was visible dark growth on the ceiling tile that looked like mold. At that point, my concern went well beyond décor. If you're going for an upscale speakeasy experience take a look at The Doctor's Office. That's the kind of atmosphere, presentation, and attention to detail I associate with this concept. When you're charging $30 for a cocktail, expectations are naturally going to be high. I expect excellent drinks, professional hospitality, and a well-maintained environment. Aside from the younger bartender, who was genuinely pleasant, this experience missed the mark across the board.

Visited with my boyfriend for our Florida vacay and was totally regretted!! I ordered a fish taco with mashed potatoes and he ordered a Texas burger. The burger is just like any normal burger...and the Fish Tacos was meh. the thing that upset me the most was the mashed potatoes were dry, I thought mashed potatoes would come with gravy like it should have. But no!!! You'll get charged an extra $1 for a small manikin of gravy for a powder-dry mashed potatoes, that my server would spill half and didn't even refill it for us!!!! I wouldn't give any star if I can, one star for the two hosts standing outside in the hot summer weather and was extremely nice and sweet. Overall, I wouldn't come back again! read more

We have finally been able to return to Anna Maria Island after years of quarantining. So lovely to come to Hurricane Hanks and still have friendly staff there who remembered us! We stumbled upon this place and we are so glad we did! Robin was our waitress and she was awesome! So friendly and had great recommendations! We loved the bacon wrapped scallops, onion rings, and especially the fried artichokes! We ate there another night (to go order) and we loved it all again plus we got the clam chowder, chocolate dessert and chicken picatta. Everything was amazing once again. I also thought it was a nice touch that they offer a 15% discount to the ice cream shop next door if you bring your receipt.

Chris greeted us as soon as we walked in and immediately found us a table in the bar area. He was not only our server but also tending bar for the restaurant, yet he never seemed rushed and provided attentive, friendly service throughout our meal. The menu is extensive, with plenty of options to suit a variety of tastes. It took me a while to decide, but I ultimately ordered the yellowfin tuna tartare, and it was the right choice. The tuna was exceptionally fresh, beautifully presented, and balanced with flavors that complemented rather than overwhelmed the fish. As we waited for our entrées, Chris brought over warm bread as well as smoked salmon pâté. It was an unexpected touch that made the experience feel even more welcoming and gave us something delicious to enjoy while we waited. Although we were seated in the bar area, the atmosphere was comfortable and conversational. The noise level was just right--not so quiet that you felt like you had to whisper, but not so loud that it distracted from the meal. From the warm welcome to the attentive service and thoughtfully prepared food, this was an excellent dining experience. Chris did a fantastic job juggling both the bar and his tables without missing a beat, and his hospitality left a lasting impression. We'd happily return.

Had a horrible experience at Crab N Fin on St Armands Circle in Sarasota last night. Waitress was a…read morebit bothered, my wife ordered a Filet Steak Tartare appetizer but was pulled away, our granddaughter was a bit overtired and was taken home early by my daughter in law. She eventually got back to the table and we all commenced eating. The appetizer (ordered as an entree along with another one) just wasn't liked. We were hoping she might take the appetizer off the bill. Its not an inexpensive place, you know. Her response was, you should have told me earlier. We more or less dropped the subject. I saw her most likely explaining the situation to the manager, showing him the check. Well, he did nothing...the check was presented in full. Manager didn't come over to express regret or ask why we were less than pleased about the meal, or even offer a dessert. Food has been good for a long time here and most of our meals were superlative. They've lost long time customers. We'll never step foot in there again, and business was really scarce that evening. My wife dined there for years and years and loved Robert who was manager/host. He saw her kids grow up, every Friday for dinner. She is done with the Crab N Fin. I am too. We were really looking forward to this dinner, mind you the kitchen is good. This new management is not.

Upon arrival we opted to sit inside, due to there being a wait for the patio. A spacious booth right across from the kitchen ended up being just fine. More scenic if you sit outside, though. The Ahi Tuna Nachos (substantial portion), Fried Green Tomatoes (perfectly seasoned), and potato salad side (slightly sweet) were all delicious. I wouldn't order the Bacon Wrapped Scallops again, though, simply because I don't think what you get is worth the price. I had to go with one of their "Catch of the Day" options since the seafood is locally sourced. Only wish I had ordered the tripletail grilled rather than blackened so I could truly appreciate the pure flavor of the filet, but it was still really good. Our server was a pro, providing worthwhile recommendations, attentive service and a cheery disposition. The entire experience was sublime.
