Surprisingly good. This place is located in a shopping strip next to a liquor store. The day we went they were booked, but we were able to sit at the bar. We shared: Fried artichokes: definitely a 5 star appetizer. It has the perfect amount of breading. It was tasty and the portion was big enough to share. Kale salad: I added shrimp. The portion was big. I took half of it home and ate it for lunch the next day. It is the perfect combo of sweet and savory. Orange glazed salmon- very good flavor. The fish was a little overcooked, but the sauce covered the dryness. The onion rings were huge and yummy. Hurricane cocktail: this is their most popular cocktail. They don't skimp on the alcohol. Beer on tap: good craft beers. Parking is on site, but shared. We didn't have a problem finding parking Reservations recommended. read more

The service was good however I ordered a pound of peel and eat shrimp and I would have sworn they reheated the cold shrimp they had already cooked. It was terrible. Dry and chewy. The go to hidden gem for best grouper tacos on the island! Come to Hurricane Hanks if you want to eat where the locals dine. Yes, there will be a little bit of a wait if you go during holiday season but it's 100% worth the wait. I'd recommend the fried grouper fish tacos with avocado. I get these every time I visit my house on Anna Maria island and I'm equally blown away each time. The avocado adds a nice creamy, fresh flavor to the savoriness of the fried grouper. They add a mango relish and some yummy sauce to top it off. One bite in, you'll get addicted to these suckers. My friend got the blackened grouper tacos and said they were amazing too. During our stay on Anna Maria we were not blessed with gorgeous weather, but thankfully Hurricane Hanks came to the rescue on Christmas Eve when we were looking for some celebratory drinks. We were welcomed in by a smiling bartender and took a seat by the window. The place was not super busy, but definitely not dead either. Fun decor and a good craft beer list featuring some local brews. The frozen pina coladas were a huge hit and you definitely get your bang for your buck- they are not weak! We ordered some a few different apps and were pleasantly surprised with everything. All the fried dishes were a lovely golden brown and the fried artichokes were a fan favorite. Definitely recommend for a casual meal or drink with a friendly vibe. read more

This was one time all 4 of us enjoyed all our entrees. Waitress wasn't delighted to see 4 70+ dinners in her section but she got our drinks and dinners correct. It was busy and we had about a 20 minute wait. Could tell you what the places ambiance was we were sat next the entrance. This was the first restaurant we tried on AMI. There was a short wait for a table but they call your cell phone when it's ready so we were able to walk around the shopping center outside while we waited. Our server was friendly and quick with refills even though they were busy and it was toward the end of the night. The food was overall great! The wedge salad with added blackened chicken was delicious and the stolen bites of my daughter's lobster Mac n Cheese were so yummy! The grilled peach and burrata salad with candied walnuts was also amazing. Only thing that wasn't the greatest was the taco salad, not bad just not one to order again. Can't win 'em all. This hit the post beach hunger spot. It's not the most welcoming environment though. We walked in and the one waitress holding down the fort was like go ahead seat yourselves. She took her time getting to us and wasn't what'd I call friendly or overly excited to help us. But, she got the food out properly without any mistakes so she fulfilled her purpose. Our group ordered a variety of food and we were all equally impressed with the meal. I ordered the blackened fish tacos and let me tell you how far they exceeded my expectations. After living in SoCal for three years, I KNOW good tacos. These were on point. They married a nice group of flavors in warm tortillas. The sweet mango salsa was a welcomed addition atop the slaw and grouper. I crowned myself champion of lunch orders. But everything else was solid. My cousin ordered a wedge salad and thought their homemade salad dressing was a star stand out. It was just a well priced and satisfying meal. They also have a bar! We will start with the Key lime margarita ... amazing. Really smooth, but the second one was just too sweet. Had dinner on a Friday night 8pm ish and had to sit by the door on the inside. Service was good and the food was okay. I am stretching with 4 stars, probably 3.5 is more accurate. I had the Texas Burger with fries, my daughter went chicken strips and the wife did the appetizer half pound peel and eat shrimp. The wife loved the shrimp, daughter was mixed on the chicken. She loved the crunch but the three oversized strips were a mix of perfect and over cooked. We both loved the fries. My burger was pretty damn good. The onion ring was massive and perfectly crunchy. I had to eat it separately from the burger as it was too big. Seating is an issue in this popular corner bar so be prepared to wait. It is worth it. read more

We could tell she genuinely cared about our experience at the restaurant which made our meal that much better. We all had the stuffed grouper, and came away satisfied and stuffed. I had mine with the green beans and they tasted as if they were picked that afternoon, and they were cooked perfectly. This has to be our favorite place to dine. Sometimes a few times a week. We have always have an excellent meal at Hurricane Hanks. The lobster mac and cheese is to die for! They give large portions of everything, fish and chips are amazing. Everything is tasty. We have been coming for years. Most of the reason for our repeat visits is the friendly, courteous service from the entire staff the time we arrive to the time we walk out. The decor is fun and has always been clean. We've been here many times on our trips to AMI every summer. It used to be an outstanding spot with some of the best seafood on the island. Lately we've been very sad to see the quality of the experience fall dramatically. While the food is still good, it's not worth the usual 2 hour wait and the service has been so bad it's almost nonexistent. After seating, it might take your wait staff 20 min to even visit the table for a drink order. Food arrives to the table in erratic order most of the time with one of the meals either wrong or missing when others receive their food. It's well known that quality service staff is difficult to find or keep post-COVID but Hurricane Hanks seems to be an especially unique casualty of the poor service seen at so many establishments these days. read more

Family of four where each had chicken fingers and onion rings, Lobster Mac and cheese, Halibut was fish of the day and was good. My grouper tacos lacked grouper and was overloaded with the mango onion salsa...so if you love onion I guess that would be a good choiceMy side salad was ok...the veggies seemed to have sat for a while. Visiting in Sarasota, we decided to go out to this little island called Anna Maria Island and we saw this hurricane Hanks and decided to stop for lunch. Terrific food and great service from Lisa. My meatloaf with a rich mushroom gravy was the best I've ever had. The baked potato and onion rings accompaniments were delicious, too. My wife thoroughly enjoyed her small filet, with a similar rich, demi-glace sauce. Prices were quite fair for the large portions. The atmosphere was very plain, but you can't eat atmosphere.
