It was Sunday 6/16 and the USCG Eagle was in port for visitation, Father's Day and the Astoria Market. Did a lot of walking and were hungry. Had a cute outside area to sit and eat lunch. Jessica was wonderful and helped us with our choices, she was right on! The fish was hot, cooked perfectly and was SO FRESH. I had Hurricane Chowder and it was delicious, hot and was full of fish, crab, scallops and shrimp (of course there were potatoes). The flavor was fantastic!!! The beer was COLD. Watched the people, trolly and boats go by... Only con: was the outside tables needed to be cleaned, they were sticky. Thank you Jessica.

Wonderful food, staff were all friendly and courteous, and you couldn't beat the relaxing environment. Definitely worth the stop. My husband has the fresh cod and chips, and I enjoyed the smashing chowder. Crispy, yet soft bread bowl and all those extra seafood toppings were just perfection to me.

This place is a gem. I swear it's everything. The decor is EVERYTHING. Reminds me of an old coworker who collected everything and was such a vibe to be around. There is no sense to it, yet it makes sense hahaha. You have to check out the decorations, the bearded dragons were so fun for the kids to look at, the friendly super humble owner saw the kids and he took the dragons out for them to pet. It was so sweet. The food was great! Portions were just right!! The clam chowder is better than any SoCal by the beach chowder I grew up on. I loveddd it. I especially loved seeing the unique menu. Must come here!

    Awesome clam chowder!

First time here. Made a visit based on Yelper reviews. The selection was odd but in a good way! Our server was super nice and explained the unique menu (camel and kangaroo burgers?!). We loved the eclectic vibe and the live bearded dragon!

Clam chowder. Shared a bowl and our server brought 2 spoons not even asking!

Service was attentive and friendly Food was delicious. Fun spot don't be intimidated by the chaos of the decor

This place was highly recommended by the locals and we sat next to a couple that has been dining here for many years. They have a huge menu selection, if you like exotic meats this is the place to visit. I really enjoyed my clam chowder and bison burger all very tasty.

We had the frog legs (yum) amongst other things :) cool bar!

We have had nothing but excellent service and food each time we have been! The atmosphere is nostalgic, menu well thought and service the top! Definitely recommend and will certainly be going back. The newest team member is a great addition I might add :) - Lydia & Chris

This is by far the best clam chowder in Oregon. Way better than mo's or any other place. Huge portion really good price and is exceptionally good. They also have fresh fish for sale and everything else is really good as well. Super highly recommended.

View from my seat. Perfect day.

Fish and Chips (Rockfish), was tender, moist and delicious. Great outdoor seating options, music at a perfect level. Pricing was very reasonable at $15.50 for a ton of food. Finding the entrance is tricky, first walked in, and thought I was at the wrong business, (looks like you're walking into a bar). Service was spot on, you have to wait a little longer for the food, but we'll worth the wait as it is Fred.

Clam chowder - or was ok.. too much bacon, herbs and pepper overpowered the taste.

The place was clean, and everybody was friendly. Half of the place is the bar, half of the place is the restaurant. They even have a small gift shop in the corner of the restaurant. When you first walk in, you check in with the bartender, and then you just find a seat in the restaurant. I was served quickly. I decided to go for a cup of the smoked clam chowder, and the rockfish fish and chips. You have several different choices of what kind of fish you want for your fish and chips. They also have a good choice of other items on the menu Once I put in my order, the food comes quickly. The clam chowder was amazing. The smokiness of the clams Comes over into the soup. It was a smoky flavor, but it did not overwhelm the soup. It complimented it very well. There was a very generous portion of the clams and other ingredients. Dear Lord, I couldn't believe the size of that platter of fish and chips. Two giant pieces of rockfish, a very generous portion of fries, and a coleslaw. You also get ketchup for your fries, and a very delicious tartar sauce. I liked the coleslaw. It was not overdressed, and had just a little bit of a peppery bite. The pepper did not overwhelm the coleslaw. The fish was not overly battered, and not greasy at all. The fish was flaky and rich. The fries had just a littlle bit of a crisp on the outside, and were perfectly tender on the inside. The entire meal was amazing. It was so big, I brought one of the pieces of rockfish and about half of my fries back to my motel for breakfast the next morning. It heated up perfectly in the microwave and was just as good the following morning. For all I got, the price was extremely reasonable, and they also do a military/veterans discount. I will remember this place. Thank you!

I walked in about 10 minutes before closing and offered to take my food to go, but my server told me that while the kitchen was closing, I was still welcome to eat in the dining room since the bar would remain open. I didn't catch her name, but she was "awesome possum"--cute, short, energetic, and full of the kind of fun, friendly banter you would expect from Flo at a classic diner. She made the whole experience even better. I ordered the FishMonger fish and chips platter, which came with two pieces of tuna, plus cod, rockfish, and salmon. It was an incredible amount of food for only $24! The batter was perfectly crunchy and flavorful, the fish tasted fresh, and the portions were very generous. I barely managed to finish it, but I persevered--mostly by sacrificing the fries! The only slightly confusing part was finding the restaurant. Some of the reviews made it sound like a standalone location, but FishMongers is actually located inside the South Jetty dining room and bar. Once I found it, though, I loved the atmosphere. It had a great, relaxed vibe, excellent food, and outstanding service. I will definitely be back!

That's just a fail, and it suggests a place that doesn't bother keeping things fresh. It kind of went downhill from there. We were looking for nice fresh fish and chips, wile we were out along the coast. We live near the coast ourselves, and are no strangers to good seafood. We decided to do the Cod and the Halibut fish and chips. While the halibut seemed fresh, the cod was waxy and looked old, and frankly i found it somehow mildly nauseating. I couldn't bring myself to teat it. The batter was crsipy, but lacked seasoning and tasted really flat (cardboard?). Aside from that, the coleslaw seemed pretty old soggy. Gross. Not impressed at all - some of the worst fish and chips I have ever had. Some people may like this kind of food - but i will actively avoid this place the next time in Astoria. No surprise after glancing at their menu, easily I could gravitate towards several of their sandwiches. Lots of merch and deli items are also available to select from. I ended up ordering a half pound of proscuitto (0.52 lb for $17.67). This was carefully sliced thin, packaged, and wrapped carefully, which was duly noted and greatly appreciated. We paused at window counter seats and had to sample the purchase before departing. Absolutely delicious! Helped elevate a meal the next day too. I may have to return to indulge in one of their Italian sandwiches. Update: we did return to dine onsite at the same window counter seats (6/22/25). The Homie had the Hot Meatball ($14). Ambience - small tavern with seaside vibe with both indoor bar and table seating as well as some limited outdoor table seating. As a party of one, I elected to sit indoors at the end of the bar. As it's located on HWY30 at Portway, I imagine sitting outside could be a little noisy at times. Service - prompt and very friendly. Seemed like the sole bartender was the sole waitress as well...but she was very attentive nonetheless equally dividing her attention to a full house of customers! There appeared to be 1-2 short order cooks in the back...so small crew to handle the lunch crowd. Food - clam chowder, fish and chips, and a cider...a reoccurring meal of mine when traveling through the PNW and kinda how I like to judge one place from another. Thick NE-style clam chowder loaded with clams! Solid contender and some of the better chowder I've had as of late. The F&Cs were 3, 2-3oz sized halibut pieces fried golden brown with a huge side of string fries...also very crispy! With some lemon and malt vinegar on the fish and a refreshing cider on tap, it all went down quite well...yum! Price was reasonable, although maybe a little pricy given this was the industrial side of the riverwalk. Nonetheless, the food/drink, service, and ambience were all good!
