However, on this last trip, when I ordered my usual for take-out, I thought I bit into a piece of hair. When I looked down, I saw a long black hair stuck in the middle of my Mac Salad! :-( Gross! Advice to the owners: Since you make your Pokes and sides at home, prior to displaying them in the case, PLEASE wear nets over your hair! I don't think that is too much to ask. Came here on a Saturday afternoon a few hours before closing, and everything tasted great. I go a plate with 2 options of poke and 2 sides, and got the Hawaiian and crispy chili poke with the soy garlic edamame and Mac salad. The poke was nicely balanced with great flavors and tasted fresh. The Mac salad was seasoned well and had more flavor compared to others that I have tried within the area. The soy garlic edamame was pleasantly light in flavor, but you could still taste the soy garlic flavor. I also ordered 1/4 pound of the spicy tuna and that tasted great as well. The plate I got was $22 in total, but in my opinion they give you a good amount of food for the price you pay. **HEADS UP THEY GET BUSY & FAST** Husubi Poke Shop is fairly new and will be very successful. My coworker and I went Friday for lunch around 11:30 (30 mins after they opened) and there was already a steady amount of people there. By the time we left it was BUSY AF with the line out the door. Rightfully so, they make everything fresh for the day and put a lot of love into it. The earlier you get there the better your chances are of getting what you want. Be patient too as it is only 2 people helping everybody. They did a fantastic job and I'm sure will eventually hire more help. They have options for you to get what you want. You can get just poke which comes in quarter pound, half pound, or full pound containers. Or You can do what I did and get the Elua (two) poke bowl option. It comes with your choice of 2 pokes, 2 sides, and a hefty serving of rice. I noticed they let you try a sample of their options when asked which is great. I suggest you try some sample to make sure you choose your best option. I also got 2 regular spam musubi's. They offer other kinds like a breakfast musubi but I alway go regular my first visit to try out the base version. On my next visit I'll stock up and get other options. Parking can be little tough to find as there's construction going on, but you can park and walk to them from anywhere in that area. It's hard to find great poke options like this around the whole Portland/vancouver area so I'm happy this is 5 mins walking distance from my office. read more

I saw that there was a poke shop opening, and I had to try! I went today around when they opened, which I recommend on the weekend because right after we got there a line of maybe 20ppl followed immediately after. Since they just opened, the vibe was Casual, and there was not much decoration (which I wasn't expecting by any means!) it was very clean, and the windows offer a ton of great natural light that really brightens up the space! Everyone there was great, and super friendly We ordered a couple of the Elua poke bowls ($22/ea). I chose to go with the garlic poke and the creamy poke (I already forgot what it was called lol). For my two sides I got edamame, and kimchi cucumbers. My Husband got the oyster ahi, and garlic with sides of normal cucumbers and kimchi cucumbers. Poke review- The poke was perfectly cold and very fresh (exactly what you'd want from a fresh poke spot.) the 2 poke types are separated from the rice, which was a great idea because with the rice being warm, putting the cold poke on top would warm It if it wasn't eaten right away. The 2 sides were placed on top of the rice. The only thing I would note (but honestly idk how this would be fixed), is that the cucumbers that were on top of the rice get very soft and warm if not eaten immediately. We ate them about 20min after we left, but I thought I'd note it, since I feel like the cucumber sides on a poke bowl are more often than not cold and crisp. Prices- I think the prices on poke specifically are pretty good! I've eaten my fair share of poke, and the prices can vary so much (usually on the pricier side). I can only speak for the Elua bowl, but the serving size of the poke was good! I was stuffed afterwards. I'm giving 4 stars based on my experience today, and because I want to revisit down the road to see how the space and everything else had evolved! If you've been searching for a Poke spot in Vancouver, I recommend you check this place out! It's pretty tasty! read more

Ever since we tasted their food at the stalls at the farmers market before the restaurant opening, I fell in love with the impeccable flavors and the freshness of the poke. I am not a big fan of tuna, but Husubi's tuna is always packed with umami flavors and freshness without the overwhelming fishy aftertaste. I love love love their ginger ahi poke!!!! I had my sister (who is a picky eater) tasted their ahi, and she was surprised that there's a poke place with such flavors near Portland . They do sell out a lot due to high demands. Finally made it to their new location last Friday and made sure to get there early. We got to sample different poke and decided on the ginger ahi, Hawaiian style ahi, crispy chili garlic ahi, kimchee cucumber, vinegar cucumber, and macaroni salad. We grabbed a spam & egg musubi too. We dined in and enjoyed our meals right away. It's always exciting to try different styles of poke and we noticed right away the fresh quality Husubi's offers. Poke was excellent! The owner checked in on us and we learned the reason they have limited store hours is due to their huge following of their farmer's market offerings. They are a super busy couple team making it work! Moving from the islands is always tough, but when you see those from the islands succeed by bringing a little bit of home to the mainland- always brings the aloha! Finding good quality poke with great flavor combinations is hard to find out here in the mainland. This place reminds me of Foodland or Tanioka's because of the way they display their poke. Supported them through their little pop up shops and now they have their own little store! They are always so easy to work with and will always suggest something for you to try if you're new. Now down to the poke. It's true that once you go big, the production gets bigger. I would say that with bigger mixes- the flavor is just a tad bit different. Not completely, but you can tell when you've been supporting them when they were smaller. The poke flavors are amazing- but just waaaay tooo saucey for my liking. Almost like soup when we ordered our favorite chili garlic. But hey- still tasted good. Their store shop is simple. You enter (don't be surprised by the line) and then you order and your plate is made to order. You can get a poke bowl with sides or just a straight up poke bowl. Then you can grab their musubi or onigiri to pair. Or you can just get their poke by the pound. So amazing to see them succeed. Love to see what else they mix up. I highly recommend trying out Husubis! We got the poke bowl with 2 flavors of poke (ahi wasabi, Hawaiian style) and the poke bowl with 2 flavors (shoyu ahi, spicy ahi) plus two sides (mac salad, seaweed salad). I personally wish the ahi wasabi had a stronger wasabi flavor as it was pretty mayo heavy, but I can see how they might be catering towards people with less of a spice tolerance. I'm looking forward to going again and trying other flavors like the ginger ahi. When I went, they only had ahi (aka tuna) so just keep that in mind if you usually order other style poke like salmon. Service is AMAZING; they are so kind! The store itself has seating but it's pretty limited (maybe 4-5 tables?) Since they get pretty busy, all of the seats were occupied by the time I paid for our food, despite being one of the first set of customers.
