I bet I'm the 4 billionth person on here to rant and rave about Hutch's, but who cares. It was one of the most memorable dinners I've had in Buffalo, and will be the hardest to beat. I came with a large group for dinner (on a VERY busy night, mind you) and never once was the professionalism and service anything but phenomenal. I totally figured other people were waiting for our tables, but we were never rushed to get out, as we ordered lots of appetizers, entrees and desserts for our table. That was so awesome! Loved the food. Steaks cooked perfectly and at perfect temperature (definitely loved the NY strip). Great lobster bisque, really good salads, and of course delicious desserts! Amazing service, and so accommodating! They really want to make your night, and the valet service is so convenient! Keep it going, Hutch's. I shall return. read more

Clearly I am in the minority by not giving a great review and I am sure that it was just a fluke incident, but I did not enjoy my first and probably last evening at Hutch's. My girlfriend and I went on a Friday night and waited 45 minutes from when we were seated without even being asked if we would like an appetizer. I was willing to sit all night to see if our server would ever actually stop at our table again even though he checked in numerous times to the tables on either side of us. Finally my girlfriend gave in and actually had to flag the waiter down in order to ask if we could order our food anytime soon. He gave no acknowledgement of having made us wait around just sitting there for so long and didn't check in during our meal to see if we needed anything until we were already done. I understand that we may have looked slightly younger than the rest of the patrons, but our money is of equal value. The food was good which is the only reason that I didn't give one star, but the service completely ruined an evening that we were both excited about. Having said that, I will not be back anytime soon. I will go somewhere where I can count on the service to match the price I am paying. read more

Sat on the patio on a beautiful fall evening that felt like July. Started with the Sibling Rivalry cocktail which was citrus happiness made with Meyer lemon vodka. Richard was a perfect server. Attentive but not hovering. We both ordered seafood specials. The salmon was pistachio crusted with a nice crunch that did not compromise the tender salmon. Swordfish was also delicious. Ample veggie sides. Amazing lace cookie cup filled with fruit for dessert. And the black currant sorbet which was sweet and tangy. Best desserts in WNY. read more

I have lived in Buffalo all my life but I never have been on this side of town. We went for my friend's birthday. The place was very welcoming. The hostess and waitress were very friendly and very knowledgable about the menu. The food was very delicious. I ordered the beef tenderloin au poivre. Might be the best steak and sauce combo in Buffalo. I recommend this restaurant to everyone. If I am ever on this side of town, I am definitely going here again! read more

Excellent Upscale Dining. Hutch's is an overall excellent place, wonderful bar area with tons of character and a very good fine dining restaurant. The food when I went was excellent, every course was what I hoped it would be. The service at both the table and the bar was excellent and matched the level of a true fine dining establishment. The bar area alone is worth stopping in to check it out, they have an excellent selection of spirits and a very unique and charming atmosphere. The bartender was very good and knew how to make good cocktails, as well as make recommendations. The price for most of the dishes is high, but you're getting what you pay for. The quality and preparation of the food justify the menu prices in my opinion, and the service makes you feel like you're getting your money worth when tipping 20% on your bill, not just handing out money because that's the thing to do when you go out to eat. My only negative comments about Hutch's is the decor in the dining room, which is dated, and not in a good way. A renovation to the dining room would add a great deal to the ambiance. The other thing is while one of the bartenders was exceptional, the other was very aloof and cold to us. It wasn't busy and he was just coming on his shift, chatting with what seemed to be regulars. With this kind of place I'm sure the staff makes over half their income from a small group of individuals, especially the bar. I get that. BUT, when guests are sitting at the bar and are in need of assistance, treating them like they're inconveniencing you, or aren't as important as the regulars, gives a very very poor impression of the establishment. If it wasn't for the rest of the staff that bartender's behavior could have been enough to turn us off and never go back, and tell everyone that we knew the bad experience we had. My advice is to ensure your staff are treating every customer with appropriate attention. That is the difference between an exceptional restaurant/bar and just a good one. read more

The Food was four stars! It's not the best in Buffalo but it is top 5. The service was a little lacking our waiter was great but we had to wait for a while because of a change of shifts. I didn't think this was red lobster so change of shift should not have anything to do with my waiting time. And my table was wobbly. I paid $65 for the tenderloin, I shouldn't have to balance my table while eating it!!!!!! And wow is it loud in this place. It just not what I thought it would be. It's a 4 star restaurant in Buffalo but in a " big " city it is a 2 star!!! This was my 1st and only visit and it was a let down as far as service and ambiance. Little upscale restaurant. Bright atmosphere, a bit noisy the night my co-worker and I were there. Service was lacking at first, and then the manager directed a waitress to us. Service recovered then. It was interesting that there were as many nightly specials as there were items on the menu. Quality of the wine and food were above average but not great. This would be a place to try again to see what it is like a 2nd time to see if there is an improvement or not. read more

The night we ate at Hutch's the hoods in the kitchen broke which meant the restaurant smelled like smoke and no fried foods were available. Since many of the appetizers are fried it limited the available choices. We decided to skip the appetizers and start with salads one of which being the arugula salad. We were then told they were out of arugula after we placed our order. The BLT salad was good as was the veal. The black grouper was very bland and the sauce paired with it was boring and mismatched. The best part of that dish was the crab cake. They should make a main dish focused on the crab cake. The fruit dessert was good but the chocolate torte was uninspired. The service was the best part of the meal. Overall Hutch's is slightly better than average but it is not a solid enough food experience to give it anything more than 3 stars. read more

I ate here back in May and have been meaning to leave a review ever since. I typically don't give 5 star reviews after eating somewhere once, but this place absolutely deserves it. I have lived/dined all over the country and world. Ate at some amazing restaurants in Philly, DC, San Diego, Rome, Paris, Barcelona, Vienna, India and many other places and Hutch's is literally my favorite restaurant in the world thus far. My brother and sister in law took me here as a graduation gift and while I was a initially scared about the prices (because they were treating, I didn't want to go run up their bill!), I quickly found out that all the food and drinks were WELL worth the price. If I still lived in Buffalo (live in oklahoma city now), this would be my top pick for any nice occasion. The beef tartare was to DIE for. The oysters were also amazing... And I don't even think I like oysters. Wine selection was great and my sister in law, practically a sommelier, approved with happiness! I got the lamb for my entree... I can't even describe the perfection. Cooked and seasoned perfectly. And we really indulged... the desserts were absurdly good...clearly hand crafted and just outstanding. The service was terrific, food was fresh, done with the hand of a chef who was probably kissed by god himself on a daily basis, and left me stunned in the best way possible. I will DEFINITELY return. Loved every moment, every bite! I always comment on the prices, food quality, atmosphere, and service. This is an expensive restaurant, but the prices match the quality and service. I've been here so many times that I realized I forgot to ever write a review. Hutch's is by far what every restaurant in Buffalo (and anywhere) should strive to be. Starting with the manager Ryan, who is always on his game then moving to the bar staff (Rich and Nick) who always have a full bar but acknowledge you almost instantly. Now to the food, every single thing that I have eaten here is always top notch. The oysters, smoked salmon, tuna, and pepper apps are a must, and all of the steaks are incredible, especially the bison strip. The restaurant was full when we arrived and we decided to eat at the bar (you can order off the full menu.) I am so glad we stayed. The crispy soft shell crab was perfect and the raspberry rhubarb pie (yes, raspberry!) was to die-for. Definitely recommend making a reservation. My husband and I went to Hutch's tonight for a birthday dinner for him. When we arrived, we were escorted to a table in the bar room with people standing 5 deep, with way too much noise and patrons within 3 feet of the table. I asked to be moved and got attitude from the charming hostess, but were seated in the small white room. Our waiter was excellent, the food was very good, but halfway through the meal, a large group was seated behind us and the noise was off the charts. When spending a good amount of money on a meal, is it too much to ask to eat in a quiet room? We have no complaints about the food or the service (aside from a snotty hostess), but will think twice about returning to such a noisy dining room. read more

Been there once, and I'm a fan. Started with delicious foccacia and olive oil. Then the best lobster & crab bisque I have ever had. The smoothest texture with bursting lobster flavor. Tender lobster and crab crowded every bite. So simple, yet complex and satisfying. I don't remember having black grouper before, but again the seafood was so fresh I thought I was seating on a sailboat in the Caribbean Sea. It was cooked perfectly and the butter lemon sauce added an explosion of taste with each forkfull. I finished with pumpkin and spice gelato. 'Nough said, the chef managed to outdo himself with two scoops of Thanksgiving velvet. I like the bar located way in the back of the restaurant, and the small tables make it easy to have an intimate conversation. Tablemates raved over the Moroccan salmon and caprese salad. read more

This is always our big vendor dinner when in Buffalo. Glad to see Seab, they're long standing bartender still behind the bar . And my favorite tuna dish in the country on their menu still. We made 9:00pm reservation for Saturday night party of 2. We had dinner while our kids were at a concert. Bar was nice and had a glass of wine while waiting for our table. Problem was we had to wait a 1/2 hour to get a table even though we had a 9:00 reservation. Service was terrible- very slow. Very loud in the dinning room. Eggplant appetizer was bland - would not recommend. My husband had jambalaya and it was very good but very spicy. He needed plenty of water,however, since the service was so bad his water glass was bone dry we had to track down our server just to get water refills. I had lamb chops which were tasty however very tough. The potatoes were not cooked enough. I had the peach cobbler for dessert which would have been tasty if they removed the skin off the peaches. I was hoping for a nicer experience but this was just average. Thank goodness the concert our kids were at was delayed 2 hours because if it wasn't we would not been out of Hutch's to pick them up since we were there over 2 hours and 45 minutes. read more

Was here for a business dinner meeting in February. Great atmosphere, great bar and bartenders. The food was very very good. We split the hors d'oeuvre meatballs which were excellent, some had halibut which was excellent as well the salads are good as is the seafood pasta. Highly recommend. read more

I want to start by saying this review is provisional. I've only been once. My wife and I went because we've heard many people in the industry speak highly of Hutch's, very highly. It's been a few weeks since we went and here's what still stands out for me: 1. It's loud. Despite my fondness for loud techno in high school, I'm a quiet restaurant type of person. I like not having to strain to hear my dinner companions (may be related to my listening to loud techno...). A little fabric over those brick walls would do wonders. 2. It's crowded. They were doing a great business when we went. You can't fault them for being popular, but next time I'm going to try a slower night. We were practically on top of a four-some of paesanos talking about weightlifting, business, and their love lives. It was like Sopranos dinner theater. 3. The waiter was really chummy right off the bat. Maybe he mistook us for regulars, but he didn't tone it down when found out it was our first time. It's like the difference between striking up a conversation with someone and sitting on a cross-country flight with someone who instantly thinks they've found their best friend. 4. The food was good, but the only dish I remember is the BBQ shrimp with Cheddar Grits. I like every word in that name and every part of that dish was great. The grits were creamy and Cheddary. The shrimp were well cooked and the BBQ sauce zesty and flavorful. They did go overboard with the saucing. The BBQ sauce was rich and easily drowned out the delicate shrimp flavor and even the Cheddar! I found myself scraping it off everything. So why did I give it four stars? Mostly because I believe it can be better. My first two points are personal preferences and I think just going on weeknight will solve those. And I trust the people who recommended it. read more

Came here on a date about a month ago. I heard a lot of good things about this place. The service was great and very professional and the food was very good too. Only thing I wasn't a fan of was the cramped table arrangements. I felt like I was too close to the people next to us and there wasn't enough room for the servers to move around. Despite the seating I liked the candles they had on the table and maybe when it's warmer I can try sitting on the patio outside. read more

Overall good eats. I prefer their "small plates" to their "large plates," personally. Their stuffed jalapenos are amazing! Highly recommended. Also the Pittsburgh sandwich is quite delicious. The specials menu is quite good too - salads and stuffed poblano particularly. Something about this place and stuffed peppers! It's a rather small space, so it can feel a little hectic and cramped. Definitely not vegetarian/vegan friendly, so you must be prepared to eat some meat/seafood. Has a decent wine list. read more

We, 8 adults, had dinner at Hutch's this weekend. We were seated promptly, in the back room, a little more private but still very noisy. Our server was there when we needed him; the meal moved along slowly, but with a large group and a lot of conversation, no one was complaining. Our appetizers that were shared were mostly from the nightly specials menu, and included the calamari, poblano pepper and jalapeño stuffed pepper. All very good. We also had 2 wedge salads, not quite a wedge, made with romaine instead of iceberg...odd, okay... Six of 8 dinners were from the nightly special menu and included soft shell crabs, a little hard but we were warned, and the bone in filet. The beef prepared as ordered and Evan proclaimed it to be the best meat he ever had. The other 2 dinners were menu filets. The bone in was the winner. The sides were good, with the exception of the garlic mashed potatoes, great.... No room for dessert, no surprise with all of this food. Pricey but good sized portions and included the sides. Been wanting to try it here and decided to order a couple dishes to go (with twin 1 year olds, it's much easier to do this). Started with the shrimp and lobster bisque which was great. I ordered the linguine dish with prawns...it was ok but nothing special. My husband had the jambalaya pasta which was a better choice of the two. I can never get enough of Hutch's! I just went there last night and our waiter, Julian, saw my disappointment when the tartare special was steak and not tuna....so while he's naming the specials and sees my interest in the tuna steak, he says he can have it prepared rare with ginger, wasabe, just like the app. I was thrilled, now that is above and beyond and made my whole meal! but not just that, the lobster bisque, stuffed pablano peppers, beet salad, steak frites etc (not all in one night)...I've NEVER had one single item there that I didn't love! hats off to the place for longevity and dependability! This is my favorite restaurant in WNY. I know it sounds crazy but the best fish (fluke) I have ever had was here, yes in buffalo so far from a port! I have been many places near a port and have had sea food and yes this was the best. Also the best meal I have ever had. I went with a larger party and everyone was blown away by there meals. We had steaks, lamb chops, seafood, appetizers and everything was exceptional. It is very very expensive so only for special occasions but well worth it when you can afford it! read more

I love this place. The ambiance is cozy, but also elegant. The waitstaff is very friendly and personable. They are also very knowledgable about every menu item, even the beverages. The bread wasn't very fresh, but that's not a huge deal. The seafood however was fresh and expertly prepared. I got the yellowfin and it was sublime. For an appetizer we got the fried oysters, which came with a marinara dipping sauce. Can't go wrong there. read more

The food surpassed my expectations. This place wins my vote for best steak in Buffalo, hands down. I was hesitant because the outside decor is minimal, and the inside lacks a waiting area, so I was kind of stuck waiting between tables for a host, as more people piled in. The carpet throughout is a cheetah print, so I was a little worried taking it all in, that the reviews of the food were exaggeratedtried but I honestly loved everything: risotto soup, stuffed jalapeños-which are actually cold on the inside, which was unexpected, jambalaya, and of course the steak were all amazing.
