I booked this hotel through Priceline and was able to get it down to $90/night which was a steal for downtown Boston at the time. The lobby was clean but a pain in the ass to get to since you have to come in from the street and then take an elevator up, etc.... the lobby also stinks like some kind of nasty air freshener that someone inserted into their ventilation system. Holy crap it is strong and not pleasant. The front desk staff is efficient, polite, and got things done for my reservation (we checked in earlier than our room was ready). I was impressed with the quality of the staff. The room was a decent size. The bathroom was alright but the water pressure was weak and pathetic. You also receive all the typical bathroom goodies. Nothing special. No bathrobes in the rooms or extra pillows. We asked for no feather products and sadly everything had feathers. We stayed for a week and it was a good experience. The room was cleaned almost the instant we left in the morning because they knew we would come back in early afternoon. It was nice to always have a clean room. The gym is clean but obviously small. You can look into the pool area and there are some creeps that are constantly staring but that's life. I would recommend this hotel if you are looking for a nice, clean downtown hotel. read more

Our stay at the Hyatt Boston Regency was lovely, but what truly made the experience 5 stars was Greg Nomura. Make no mistake, Greg is the most kind-hearted and capable person in the hotel industry I've ever interacted with, and he took care of my family within an hour of us reaching out to him (on Black Friday too which is a national holiday)! He clearly loves his job and serving his guests at the Hyatt, and the passion that he shows is nothing short of AMAZING. Thank you so much Greg! read more

Generally nice hotel with friendly staff. The location is very convenient for public transportation. We were able to get to the Harpoon Brewery in 20 minutes. I'd definitely go back. It's not the hippest area. I'm assuming it caters to a weekday, lunch hour crowd. However, I would not get the breakfast. 22$ a person for what seemed like mostly prepackaged/microwaved food. This review is for the Avenue One Restaurant located inside the Hyatt Regency Hotel. I've also posted this in the Avenue One Terrace bar page on Yelp. I was surprised by the hotel food as being very tasty. The crab cakes are really delicious among the the menu items. I normally don't eat crab cakes and often steer away from it whenever possible. But a friend of mines convinced me to try it and I really enjoyed it. Other than that, service is really great inside the restaurant. Our waitress was really attentive, nice and very accommodating. The atmosphere is modern, nice and from what other yelpers have said, it has been remodeled/redecorated. It was quiet when we went, not a lot of people in the restaurant and I have been here several times. Weekday nights are pretty good for a low key, low noise level atmosphere. The take out boxes could use an improvement as they don't fit into the shopping bag that come along with it. Often times it is awkward or the containers tip to the side when in the bag. read more

Great hotel in the Downtown Crossing area! I have stayed here over 20 times over the years. The rooms are always spotless, the hotel staff is very efficient. I've also enjoyed great breakfasts and dinners at the hotel's restaurant. The hotel has a decent (not huge) fitness center. During my last stay, there were a few mixups, but the Hotel General Manager was very apologetic, comped me a night, and even sent a lovely and delicious wine and cheese tray to my room. On top of that, I mentioned during our phone conversation that I was planning on attending the Bruins/Rangers game, and he even wished my team (the NY Rangers, of course!) good luck. The gym! It doesn't matter if you're a gym rat or not, you should check it out. Steam room AND sauna! Pool, plenty of newer cardio machines and lots of tv's to go around. Open 24 hrs too. Forget about exercise you can just use the amenities to relax. Plus the staff was friendly and attentive and I think the that Hyatt has the best beds of the national chains! Was here for a conference. They are still doing renovation (Oct 2012) so we have to enter from the driveway in the basement. Didn't get the Grant Hyatt feel. I was also woken up by the sound of the renovation in the morning. Location is ok - about 15 min walk to North Boston. The conference rooms are nice and recently renovated. Wifi in the common area is free but but very slow. They are not keeping up with the increase mobile devices for sure. Free wifi for platinum members which is great. read more

There was nothing wrong with the rooms, they were on the larger side, moderately clean and I had everything I needed.... But based upon the lobby and bar atmosphere, they were definitely lacking. I expected more, especially at a downtown hotel: I expected them to be more modern, better bed, the same lobby atmosphere carried thru to the rooms. Great story, tremendous stress, happy ending. I tagged along with my wife to Boston. she was going to a conference and she had bought me a ticket to the NCAA Elite 8 final game of the Eastern Region being played at the Boston Garden. The delivery day of my ticket was to be the day after we left for Boston, so we opted to have the ticket sent to the hotel and I would pick it up when we got there. Routine travel arrangements, or so we thought. UPS was the carrier that would make the delivery. The day UPS said it made the delivery( and it was 3 days earlier) to the hotel, the hotel concierge and the hotel operations manager said it was never delivered. UPS said, "It was delivered at 9:18 in the A.M. Further investigation by the hotel staff, the ticket was delivered to another Hyatt Regency in Boston. This slapstick routine went on for 3 days. We were so stressed, feeling helpless and getting different stories from UPS. Finally to end this charade, the hotel operations manager called me and sent me a picture of the envelope that contained my ticket. I have to give a shout out to the staff of the Hyatt Regency, downtown Boston for going out of their way to help a customer. Needless to say, I made it to the game, had a great time and saw a very entertaining basketball game. I owe it all to the 2 gentlemen at the Hyatt Regency that made it all possible and less stressful for me and my wife, Maria. Hyatt Regency, downtown Boston, you are a class act. read more

Stayed at the Hyatt on a recent vacation to Boston, mostly due to its central location and some pretty good weekend rates. Being a Hyatt Diamond helped, but didn't get me much in the way of special treatment aside from an upgrade to a suite (though the regular rooms were very nice.) I stay in a lot of hotels for work, very frequently, so I'm a pretty discerning guest. Yays: - A pool, in the city. That's unheard of. - The location was great, near Boston Common, several T lines, and right off the Silver Line. Definitely good for vacation travel. - Service was quick and polite - Great service holding our bags when our room wasn't ready, and again after we checked out but before our flights - Nice, comfortable beds and furniture in the room - Large bathroom with plenty of space, and all the amenities - Full wet bar, which, though expensive, gave us an opportunity to grab a drink without calling room service Nays: - Doors are thin, and nothing to slow down slamming doors, so I was woken up a couple times by inconsiderate neighbors slamming their doors (this lost them a star) - Check in fellow didn't realize that my rate came with breakfast, and didn't give us the coupons. Meh. I wanted to like this hotel, I really did. The staff is super nice and thoughtful. The location is great--walking distance to Chinatown with authentic tasty food! However....the food is overpriced and not great. The elevator system is pure madness, and it's overpriced for the facility. WHO THE HELL DESIGNS A HOTEL THAT NEEDS 2 ELEVATOR SYSTEMS TO GET AROUND!?!!? there's 1 elevator for getting from the entrance to the lobby (totally stupid when you have luggage) and another for getting from the lobby to rooms. Such a bad design. And, there is a "no refrigerator or using ours" policy. Really?! At over 200$ a night? They wanted me to pay 15$ to put my leftovers in a fridge. COME ON! Internet is slow, and kicks you off often. The beds are hard and uncomfortable, the shower has zero water pressure, and the towels are paper thin. It's just not a good facility. Which sucks because nice people work there. Sad. Lame. Dissapointing. read more

I stayed here with a few colleagues for a conference. The hotel was a bit pricey (near $200 a night, but I guess that's reasonable given its location). Located in the theater district, the hotel is an easy walk to theaters, restaurants, and Boston common. The staff here were very helpful. The doorman gave us great directions whenever we needed to go somewhere and often suggested places to eat or check out. The maid service was very prompt when we needed more towels. The room was very clean and comfortable. No great amenities (like bathrobes, a refrigerator, microwave, etc.), but a solid good room. Nothing to complain about there. The walls are a little thin, but nothing out of the ordinary. Wi-Fi is $10 a night, but they refunded it to us because of the conference. The hotel is renovating its business center, so internet use and printing in the lobby is free (to compensate for the inconvenience). The fitness room is better than other hotels (indoor pool, 4 elliptical machines, 4 treadmills, 2 row machines, a handful of bikes, and some free weights). I would definitely recommend this hotel if someone were looking for a hotel in Boston. read more

An uncomfortable hotel. We had issues with our ac and had disturbed nights of sleep. I figured it was due to the Boston heat and humidity, until our last night when the temps dropped to 54 and we still were sweating in our room. The room is badly designed. The bathroom doesn't have a door that fully closes, rather a sliding barn-type door. This means that moisture from the shower, along with light and noise from the bathroom spill out into the room. Room had a coffee machine, but housekeeping kept forgetting to replace the mugs. Wish we had stayed elsewhere. read more

Had a great stay here over the weekend - amazing concierge service through and through. My boyfriend's company literally took over this building for their holiday party. After a rather rambunctious one from last year, he was a bit surprised that we had such an easy time getting accommodations and being allowed back in the building! Oh boys. Needless to say, I arrived at 8am from a red-eye and was able to quickly get to the room with no hassle for getting a key. The bed and sheets were fluffy, I passed out in slumber. The shower head was a bit funky to get working well, but overall enjoyed the large tub and spaciousness in the bathroom for taking over the entire countertop with my girlie toiletries. Easy to get cabs to and from, and when we were in a bind to find a place for dinner at last minute (300 executives and team members all in town and wanting steak meant no steakhouses had availability for a party of 4), we were given immediate attention by concierge to book a reservation 15 minutes ahead for Locke-Ober, JFKs old haunt. They also had our clothes steamed for freshness and back in the room in less than an hour. The party was well catered, with tons of food, a free photo booth and plenty of booze. I'm not always big on chains, but this hotel is one that you can guarantee having a good experience at (especially if your company is throwing a ton of money down to host a holiday party and are looking getting excellent service). read more

I was impressed how nicely the lobby was renovated with a modern look and much improved design. The room was decent and well appointed, overall it was a good spot. When I called for an umbrella or anything else they were very helpful. The major issue here is the crappy bed, it was just really old and uncomfortable. The pillows were hard as a rock and there was no variance between any of them. After staying for 4 nights I was utterly exhausted and had to head to NYC for more work. I got really irritable, and was finally able to sleep properly again at my hotel there. I will not stay here again. read more

I stayed here over Christmas 2014 and meant to review earlier... This hotel was fantastic and perfectly positioned in the city. We found it so easy to walk wherever we wanted to go and was surrounded by many great restaurants and shops. We also attended the ballet on Christmas Eve and the hotel did a wonderful pre theatre dinner and the ballet was a minutes walk away. Staff were amazing and very helpful. Room was wonderful and spacious. Lucky enough to enjoy a penthouse suite so no complaints!! read more

PROs - big clean room, great views, comfortable beds, and great location! CONs - there's a separate elevator from the lobby to your room and from the lobby to the street. the street is like on "ground" floor but you have to take an elevator to first floor to get to the lobby. then take an elevator from the lobby to your room. it's a bit frustrating because in the mornings, I have to take 2 elevators just to get to work. read more

Stayed here during a snow storm in order to see a show at the Opera House. It was very convenient location in this walkable city. Unfortunately things did not go smoothly! First off I had to get both my room keys to work, that took 3 attempts in 20 minutes. Then no one ever came to clean my room. We went to breakfast at 9:50 and went out at 11:15 till 2:15. Came back room not cleaned so I called customer care and was told someone would be up. At 3pm went into hall found the maid and asked her to clean my room next got a blank stare. At 4:15 we had to get dressed for a dinner reservation and show. When we returned at 11pm room still not made up. The pits of an experience Breakfast Buffet was nice and the waiter was friendly and helpful. There are other places to stay in the area. read more

Decor: Very simple and clean. The room was fairly large, and we had a nice view of the city. The TV was a slightly older flat screen, and the channel selection was not that great (although they did offer HBO and HBO Family). The room seemed renovated. Location: We thought that the Hyatt was an ideal, central location, but we ended up spending most of our time near Fanueil Hall/Quincy Market/North End and Harbor area, so I wish we would've gotten a hotel closer to that area. It is walking distance, but you're looking at 20-30 minute walks. Shower: The shower was big (stand-up shower with a curtain...kind of weird), but the water power was awful. Service: Every staff we encountered was very nice. The front desk lady was extremely friendly and always had a smile, the concierge was quick and helpful, and the cleaning staff was polite and considerate. There are no vending machines in this hotel, so remember to grab bottles of water before coming to the hotel (although there is an ice machine on every floor). This isn't a bad hotel except for a few things- 1) $25 fee to use the mini fridge 2) confusing lobby setup that is often packed 3 so-so comfortable beds 4) no free continental breakfast For the mini fridge fee, I understand you pay for the items, but every other hotel I've ever been to let's you at least use it. For this place, you have to pay a $25 cleaning fee to get them to unlock it just so you can use it . Unfortunately I found this out after I had already bought a cannoli from Mike's Pastries and wanted to store it for the night. I'm sorry, but a $3 cannoli no matter how good is worth another $25 just to store it for the night. For the lobby, you come in at the lower lobby and then have to take a set of elevators to get to the main lobby. You then take another set of elevators to get to your room. It's confusing when you first get to the hotel, the elevators down to the exit are almost always clogged with people, and it adds an extra unnecessary step when you just want to get out of the hotel or go to your room. Other than those two main things, the hotel isn't bad. Th beds aren't the most comfortable and I'm slightly annoyed you have to pay an outrageous price if you want any sort of breakfast, but that's life I guess. It's in a nice location near the subway so it's easy to get anywhere you want to go. At least it's easy to get free wi-fi access-- just say you aren't a registered guess and you can constantly get free wifi even though they say you can get only an hour every day. If your time is up, just sign up again. read more

Truly one of the best hotel stays I've ever had (and I have a lot) They manage the perfect blend of attentive, helpful and friendly but not over crowding or white glove service. I was at the hotel for 11 days and I was genuinely sad to leave - felt like i'd made friends with the staff by the time I left. The rooms are comfy, clean and super peaceful in their vibe. Nice place! We stayed here for a weekend in January, and by using Priceline.com, we got a room for the ridiculously low price of $63 a night. Totally worth it for that price. It's a four-star place, so what do you expect? The beds are really comfortable pillow-top mattresses. I didn't experience that "new place" insomnia I get with some hotels. I just fell right asleep. The hotel is right downtown, near the theaters, a shopping district, and on the same block as the Downtown Crossing stop on the T. Every staff member was courteous, friendly and helpful. People have said it's in a dirty neighborhood. It's not, but what makes it weird is that the first three floors of the hotel, about, are a parking garage, so there are no windows. Just concrete. This is odd, and means you do have the odd experience of switching elevators to get the guestrooms. A few complaints: I couldn't find the soap, so I went and bought a bar. It turned out to be in between the two shower curtains. Tricky. Also, there's only ~25 tv channels, if that's an issue for you. Also, the promised iPod speaker system was not in the room. We wouldn't have used it anyway, but just so you know... Overall, we had a great experience. I'm going to give it 4 stars because, despite how nice it really is, the regular prices for a room are insane! I would either go through Priceline.com for this place, or go somewhere else. I was attending a conference at the Hyatt in November and stayed there under the group rate, which was $200/night +tax. I was pleased as punch with this place. My room was quiet, spotless, spacious, and had a great view. The bed was heavenly. I swear I spent more time in my room during the evenings just so I could lounge in it. It had a super cushy topper, plenty of pillows, and high quality (read: non-scratchy) linens. I'm love a nice soft bed and it was simply a dream to sleep in. Continental breakfast at the conference I attended was above average...not sure how it differs from the standard continental, if at all. Met a Bostonian friend for drinks at the bar and that was a nice experience, too. The front desk staff were super helpful, friendly, and responsive. Printed my boarding pass right in the lobby with assistance from a bellhop, who also escorted me to an ATM and hailed me a taxi. Front desk staff recommended nearby Max and Dylan's and it was a home run with my friend and I. Their lobster mac and cheese was delish. This was my first trip to Boston, and I wanted to squeeze in some sightseeing in addition to my jam-packed conference schedule. The Hyatt's location was perfect for this - a couple blocks away from Boston Common and within walking distance to pretty much everything I wanted to see. I wouldn't hesitate to stay there again on a return trip! read more

My boyfriend and I were looking for a nice place to stay for the night in Boston. We got a last minute booking through Priceline for an insanely good price (110$ including taxes and fees)- for a FRIDAY night stay! This hotel is in a pretty central location and easy to get to from the high way. The check in and conceirge were wonderfully friendly. The room itself was lovely with a large comfortable bed, fine linens, and a large tv. The bathroom had a great big tub which would have been great for soaking in. Check in starts at 4 pm and check out is a 12, which means you can get there early before going out and then sleep in after a fun night. The dining option in house is rather expensive, costing upwards of $12 for two eggs and toast for breakfast. The conceirge can recommend plenty of great local eateries though, all within walking distance. The reason this did not get a five star rating is due to house keeping service. The was on opened bar of soap with hair on it in the bathroom that we didn't notice right away. This made us doubt the cleanliness of the rest of the hotel room. The housekeeping also knocked repeatedly in the wee hours of the morning before trying to open our door to clean. Who sends in housekeeping before 8 am? The parking garage is a bit expensive ($32 for a night), so if you can find parking else where, do so. All in all though, it was a lovely place to stay. read more

3.5 Stars would be my rating. Stayed from a Thursday through Sunday while I was visiting my best friend (who came to stay with me in the hotel as a little "staycation"). Because hotels in Boston are so expensive, I got this one through Priceline. Not the cheapest ever, but more affordable than any other hotel I could find. Even though it was in the Financial District, it was a really fabulous and centralized locaton. Near different T stations, so it was really easy to get around, and definitely walking distance to a lot of places, too! The man at the front desk was extremely friendly and pleasant upon checking in. Put us up on the 17th floor. Immediate view was a bit... industrial for my taste. I asked for two beds, but they only had a King room available. Turns out that it was totally fine, since we are both two very very tiny girls. We each had plenty of space. The bed wasn't as comfortable as other hotels in the area, but it worked out for me and, as I understand, very enjoyable for my friend. The bathrooms didn't have fans in them, so be prepared for the steam. (It did come in handy when steaming out clothes, though!) And they gave us travel sized toothpaste for the visit, which was a pleasant surprise. The hairdryer, even on high, didn't give me much to work with. But not a lot of hotel hairdryers do, I suppose. I found the lobby a bit faded, but I don't really hang out in hotel lobbies much, so it wasn't too much of an issue. Guests do, however, have to take two elevators to get to your room. Walk in through the front, down some steps, over to the elevator up to the lobby on level 3. Then cross the lobby to another set of elevators up to your floor. It was a bit bizarre, but something we got used to. Never found it too difficult to get to. All in all, Priceline made it much more affordable (but still not what I would consider cheap), it has a great location, nice staff, pretty standard rooms. Won't blow you away, but will do just fine for short visits to Beantown. read more

I stayed here for three weeks in March on business. Front desk was very friendly, housekeeping did a great job, great view of the city! A few things that rubbed me the wrong way. The bellmen were for the most part very friendly, though there was one that patronized us for getting a cab to go a mile and a half. We were all in heels and it really isn't his business whether we take a cab or not... There is A LOT of construction going on both inside and outside the hotel. Thankfully I was on the 17th floor so it wasn't too annoying. I would suggest getting a higher floor, but also be aware that it seems as though there is always one elevator that is out of service, meaning only three elevators to take care of 22 floors! It was not out of the ordinary to wait five minutes for an elevator and then stop on every floor on the way down. The food/drinks at the hotel restaurant are outrageously expensive. I know it is normal for things to cost more at hotels, but $18 for french toast? Please...I asked for a bowl of plain brown rice to add to my microwave dinner and they said it would cost $11! While this seems mainly a negative review, the view is spectacular, the beds are comfortable and the bathroom is gorgeous. The decorations are very modern and I felt as at home as you can in a hotel room :) read more

If we had paid full price, I would have only given this 2 stars!!!!! The Comfort Inn was nicer!!! Good: Location is AWESOME. Walking distance from everything and main train stations. The beds are very comfie. They give you Aquafresh toothpaste :) The black out curtains are REALLY EFFECTIVE. Bad: No free wi-fi. No refrigerator to use (only holds mini bar items). If you are on vacation, there's no place to keep an extra canoli, etc....The front desk said we could store with them for $20. Wow. We found a 3 week old pizza box with moldy pizza INSIDE mini bar fridge (guess they didn't want to pay the $20!). When we checked out and reported this to the front desk, they simply said, "another company is responsible for the mini bars". Come on!!!? The shower head was broken and wouldn't stay pointed out and the drain was busted in the tub. Every time we took a shower, the water filled up the bottom. The toiletries Hyatt has smell like RAID. No other description fits!! We thought perhaps this was so that people didn't want to take any of the bottles, but who knows. The room window was streaked and cloudy with hard water stains. We were on vacation, so little bummed couldn't see out the window.... Unless we have another awesome travel deal to apply towards this place, I wouldn't pay the asking room price!!! read more

My best friend invented me to spend St Patrick's Day weekend with her in Boston several months ago. She already had the hotel booked, so all I had to do was book my flight. She told me where we would be staying and that it had great reviews. I checked reviews out also, and she was right. We arrived Friday afternoon well before check in time, fully expecting to have to leave our luggage with the bellboy while we found a place to eat a late lunch till time to check in. Nope, they checked us right in and even upgraded us to a corner suite! The room was great with a nice view of downtown. The bathtub was a little basic, but the water pressure from the shower head was good, and we weren't there to take baths all day. We were in Boston to have fun and make memories, and the location of this hotel was perfect for that. We had to take a taxi from the airport and back since they don't have a shuttle service, but that was it. We were within walking distance for everything we planned to see and do. On Saturday we saw a lot of stuff on the Freedom Trail, and noticed that every single pub had long lines. We realized it would probably be worse that night and even colder, so we decided to spend the evening in the hotel. We had a late, but very good dinner in the hotel restaurant, and drinks after in the hotel bar. Apparently we weren't the only ones staying at the hotel that decided to celebrate the night there. It was packed and cheerful! The drinks were good and strong, and not bad price wise either. They were supposed to close at midnight, but kept serving till after 12:30...it might have been closer to 1 by the time they closed the bar. That was okay, we decided to go up to our room and order dessert and a some beer and wine through room service. Well apparently, we weren't the only ones with that bright idea, so we also ordered some chicken strips to go with it since there would be a wait and we figured we'd be hungry by then. It did take close to an hour before everything arrived, but those were the best late night chicken strips ever! Sober me might disagree, but drunk me loved them! The desserts were good too, but those chicken strips were everything! We requested a late check out since our flights weren't till later that afternoon. They were only able to allow us to check out just an hour later, but let us check our luggage at the concierge desk till time for us to leave. We had a great time in Boston and at the downtown Hyatt Regency. It's a great hotel in city full of history and cool thing to see and do. The worst hotel bar in Boston? Possibly. First, the basics. Location is pretty good, assuming you can find the hotel garage. Once there, good luck finding a cab to take you anywhere. We asked the doorman to flag a cab for us ... he blew his whistle for a good 15 minutes. Poor sod, there wasn't a car in sight, nevermind a cab. The side street on which the hotel is located is so isolated its a wonder anyone can flag a cab. Better off walking toward the park. Not a big deal, but worth noting if you plan to stay there in the Winter, as I did. Room was nice, nothing special. The TV was bad, radio worse. The hallway outside the room was absolutely freezing cold. Again, not picky, but worth a mention. Bathroom needed an update. Now, the bar. Small, dark (not in a good way), and - during my visit - populated by 2 women bitching about their husbands and members of the parking garage staff who saw nothing wrong drinking at the bar in uniform while their girlfriends showed up with their large Dunkin Donuts coffees. The bartender was a mope. Snacks were a sad potpourri better suited to an episode of the Rockford Files. And this was a Thursday night. read more

Overall enjoyed the stay. I did two nights over St. Pats weekend, and for that reason, the location here is fantastic. I had very good service from the front desk, valet, and room service all around. Friendly and helpful all. Beds were clean and comfortable, and my friends that were relegated to the wheel-in twin bed had no complaints. Bathrooms were similarly clean and shower was warm and roomy. View was pretty unimpressive, some office building; I kept the blinds closed. It's a bit akward making your way outdoors from here, as you have to come down from the rooms to the lobby, then get in a second elevator to get down to the entrance/valet, but no real complaints about that I suppose. I'd say this is worth 4 stars, but I'll keep it at 3 merely for the cost. I'd expect most of the good service and quality rooms for the price I paid (though, they did not disappoint). read more

I visited this hotel once before for a conference but have never stayed here. Our first service with this hotel was when I called the conceierge. We were staying there for my daughters birthday so I wanted something in the room for when she arrived. We were placed on hold for over five minutes with no one checking in so I just gave up and hung up. The parking is a bit of a headache. There was no clear signs indicating how to get to the valet parking area so we had to enter and then exit the garage to get to the valet. As a note, $50 a night for valet and $36 a night for self parking. Not cheap. When you park, you then have to take an elevator up to the lobby. The lobby area was quite chaotic. There was a long line to get check in. When we checked in, we found out that they had booked us TWO rooms. My online confirmation and payment showed that I was charged for ONE room (lets hope that doesnt change) but their computer had us booked for two rooms. So a manager had to come over to fix that issue. Not sure how that happened but it wasnt a smooth check in. No breakfast vouchers or anything were offered for the extra time we had to spend in line. After checking in, we went up to our room. Again, a wait for the elevators. I heard about 10 people complain over the course of our stay about the elevator situation. There are four elevators for the entire hotel. My office building of three floors has more elevators. This hotel has 22 floors and each elevator is small and can hold 10 people max ( more like 5 with luggage ). The room itself was nicely appointed and appeared clean. There was a card on the desk that said complimentary items could be ordered if you forgot them. We forgot a brush and razor so we called down and asked if those could please be sent up. We told them that we were heading out and they said that they could just leave it at the door. Perfect. When we got back, surprise, nothing was there. So I called again and re-ordered the items. I told them we were going to bed and to please leave by the door. So you can imagine my surprise at 12:30 AM when I get a knock on the door. They knocked for a good 3 minutes while I was trying to sleep before leaving it at the door. And the best part - we ordered a hairbrush and a razor (again) and they only brought one of the two items! When we woke up I called room service to ask how much a bagel was and they said $3. I said that would be fine and they delivered it. They did not however mention that there was a $5 delivery fee plus tax / gratuity so the $3 bagel cost me $11! Had I known that I would have walked to the lobby to get it myself. We did go to the gym and the pool. The pool was small but nicely heated and clean. The gym was also small and could have used more equipment (all four treadmills were in use so I had to wait) but it did appear to be clean. The sauna was not working properly and took some finagling to get the temperature over 77 degrees. We called the front desk in the morning to ask if we could check out an hour late and they said "sure, no problem." Again, you can imagine my surprise when I got a knock on our door at 12:30 PM asking if "we planned on leaving today." I told the housekeeping staff that we had called the front desk at around 9 AM and they said we could check out at 1 PM. She said that no one had told her. Again, clear miscommunications with this hotel. Overall, for the price we paid I would not stay here again. We paid to stay at a four star hotel because we expected four star service. I have honestly had better service experiences at two star hotels. read more

Being from Boston, I hadn't stayed at this hotel very much. I remember when it was the Swissotel years ago. Now that I live far away, I stay in hotels when I return to the city. It was such a nice surprise to stay in this property after many years. The staff was awesome as soon as you pull up to the front entrance. You are greeted and helped in the "lower lobby" before you ascend the elevator to the 4th floor where reception is. Again, a very warm welcome by all along the way and it didn't stop with Laura at the front desk. Room keys in hand we made our way up to our room. Opening the door, we realized that not only had the hotel been kind enough to upgrade us, but that the room had a balcony with a commanding view of the Theater District, State House, Cambridge...even all the way to the Tobin Bridge! WHAT? A room with a balcony in Boston? Very rare indeed and I never knew these existed in this hotel. As I mentioned, it's been many years, but the room looks recently renovated. It was awesome! Mellow tones, clean lines and, of course, the spectacular Hyatt bed. The suite did however lack a full length mirror anywhere, the wall hangings were sparse and the livingroom portion of the suite was missing a couch or something. It looked a little bare. Regardless, it was an awesome room. We took full advantage of the balcony and enjoyed a sunset bottle of wine. It was pretty quiet and away from all the city noise down below. Our stay was short and sweet due to an early morning flight, but I can't wait to return in August and stay a few days. The bar looked inviting and I've read some positive reviews for the pool area. * One note of mention: The elevator from the lower lobby (LL) to the reception area (4) is ungodly slow. It would be nice to know if stairs are an option, because I waited so long for the elevator, then waited while it inched between floors. I prefer to walk a few floors rather than wait for this lift. Very Nice gym, salt water pool and nice rooms friendly staff too and From my room we had a great view of the City of Boston
