We have used Hyde's Services since buying a home in Rancho Mirage 2 years ago. Our favorite technician is Taylor Hyde. We had them install air conditioning in our garage as well as enhance the central air conditioning unit Pulte installed when the house was built. We also use their maintenance service regularly and have been very pleased with their services. They are not the cheapest company around but not the most expensive either. The great thing about Hyde's Air Conditioning (and they do electric too) is that they will be around for many years to come. A quick review and recommendation. I am a member of the Hyde program for twice yearly filter change and I had scheduled today for the fall checkup and filter changes for my two air conditioners. I met their representative, James Burrell who was on time and did his work quietly, quickly, and found a problem with the fan in the attic in the Casita which resulted in the fan not working. It required replacing a small part which he had in his truck. He kindly explained what the problem was and showed me the part that was replaced. The old part was an off brand which he replaced with the proper one and I found out it has a 2 year warranty on the new one! Problem with AC Heat Pump in a new rooftop mounted AC unit that was installed by a different AC service company chosen by our home warranty company. I called Hyde's this morning and tech Jonathan Carrier arrived within an hour. Full assessment was completed by Jonathan. Turns out the new AC unit has a defect somewhere in the ignition sequence components that will require replacement parts. Jonathan provided a complete written report of the problem. We will contact the warranty company and installer to repair or replace the new AC unit. Jonathan is highly professional and a good communicator. While he was here we placed an order for two new Ecobee thermostats which we wanted and he will install them for us once the main AC unit is fixed/replaced. Signed up for a yearly check up of roof air unit. Cost for this was/is reasonable and well worth it. Our first check up was carried out by service technician Daniel Galvan. He arrived within stated window. In short he was efficient, courteous, knowledgeable and no nonsense. Replaced the filter in house and checked out the unit on roof. Gave us an oral assessment of the unit and even the cleanliness of the roof solar panels. We were impressed with his work ethic and his customer skills. DISHONEST company! They SABOTAGED my AC. As a female who was alone, I was PREYED UPON for $1,158 & they would have gotten me for another $13,000-15,000 for a new AC, if things would have went as they planned. I was intentionally SETUP for failure! Instantly the tech from Hydes was trying to sell me a new AC unit even without a proper diagnosis. He couldnt give me a clear answer & kept repeating that i need a new AC (even though mine is 11 years old). He even suggested for me to apply for a private loan from wells fargo, so that HYDES "could install a new AC tomorrow." I told him, I couldnt afford that, & I asked him what would he do if he was in my position & he replied " IF I WAS YOU, I WOULD BUY A NEW AC". When I told him again that I didnt have the money for a new unit, he then setup my current AC INCORRECTLY so it wouldn't function properly. So I would be FORCED to buy a new AC unit in the near future. The HYDES tech said "I bypassed the restriction. If I have to return to work on this AC unit, it's going need to be replaced." And 5 days later my AC wasn't working!!! So I called HYDES to ask about a new AC unit!! As they ADVISED me to do!! However, I had another company come to the rescue. The new technician thought it was bizzare that my previous TXV was SNAPPED/ BROKEN in half, because it is copper & shouldnt break from the vibration of the unit. Which leads me to SUSPECT foul play! The new technician also found that the new TXV and sensor bulb that I paid for was not installed correctly, it was hanging off loose and jiggling. It was also not insulated at all, it was left exposed. That part needs to be insulated properly from the outside environment, so it can work correctly. Then my compressor was overfill with freon, causing my compressor to short cycle & causing my AC to shut down and not cool down my house. Thank GOD for a second opinion, the other company discovered how HYDES messed up basic AC fundamentals, which should have been done correctly, but instead were done WRONG! I payed $1158 to Hydes for a BOTCHED job & then had to pay $895 to another company to fix the problems HYDES caused! As a full time college student, I am left with nothing because of HYDES! See attached invoices from both companies & look at the dates ! Do yourself a favor and RUN THE OTHER WAY! On the 29th I spoke to Michael, a manager. He was calling me back because of how I wanted to buy an AC. I told him what occurred & emailed a picture of the snapped TXV & the invoice from the other AC company. Michael agreed to refund me the $1185. Then I recieved a phone call from Janelle at Hydes. She said that was her grandfather's company. She was upset with the review that I left & was asking me to consider changing my review! Because of the refund they were going to issue. Saying my opinion would damage their company. I told her it's not my opinion, these are FACTS of what happened to me. Then the conversation became heated. She was UNPROFESSIONAL & had so much attitude! She said the phone call I had with Michael was recorded ( I was NOT notified of that nor did I give my consent). She eluded that I should be grateful for the (begrudged) refund, bc they could chose to not give me one. I told her, it's the LEAST you could do. Janelle was BITTER, CRASS, INSENSITIVE, ABRASIVE, and ARGUMENTATIVE. She was dismissive of the FACTS of what happened to me. When I said that, she replied SOULLESSLY "well I apologized." It was insincere & not genuine. I told her it was a backhanded apology & instead of listening, she was arguing with me. Ultimately standing behind the hydes technician BOTCHED work! Then she kept ATTACKING the other company, which helped fix all of HYDES's ERRORS! I wish she would have never called me! All she did was add fuel to the FIRE! As if I hadn't been through enough already with this company. Her claws came out & so did mine. I shouldn't have to defend myself AGAIN, for what they did TO ME. The proof is in the invoices and pictures! I shouldn't have to pay for THEIR MISTAKES & I should have been fully refunded the $2058. read more

Hyde's did a great job for us. Our old A/C units were failing. We invited Hydes along with a couple other well known local providers to review our old set up and quote on new heat pump units. We ended up going with Hydes. A couple reasons why we went with Hydes 1. Jonathan, our field technician, went over the top for us... When he was in our attic inspecting our old set up, he noticed one of the old units wasn't working, he diagnosed the issue (a start capacitor) and fixed it on the spot. Thank goodness as the next day we went into several weeks of 110+ degree heat, we desperately needed the extra A/C. 2. Jonathan and the Hyde's engineers fully evaluated our square footage, window sizing and location plus other factors to determine what size system we needed. Turns out our original setup was oversized. Hydes was able to downsize our new set up. 3. Jonathan and Hyde's main office team did an outstanding job explaining the proposed systems, efficiency gains, available rebates and answering all of our questions. 4. Hydes pricing for three system set ups of varying efficiencies met or beat the other providers. 5. Hydes helped us submit for qualifying rebates. Just this week, post install, post our final sign-off and post paying, we called the office as we needed a technician to address a matter and they were able schedule us in for same day service at no extra cost. read more

We replaced two complete systems in our home and Hyde's A/C did all the work. We converted the 5 ton system into a heat pump system. The 2 ton system was already a heat pump. The higher SEER ratings helped make our decision as the pricing was about the same. The crew spent 2 full days and were timely, efficient, cordial and answered all my questions. The duct testing went smoothly and we passed. Another guy had to come and repair the attic access hole and I can't tell they were here. So far, we are extremely happy. The 5 ton system does the main house and we can't believe how quiet it is. It cools the rooms quickly and holds the temp till we change it. When we replace the 4 ton system, and add a split system in the garage, we will be talking to HYDE'S read more

Sadly, after being a customer for 20+ years, this past year has left such a bitter taste that I must make our disappointment known. Last July, after much consideration we took Hyde's advice to replace our entire system to the tune of $14,000. As far as we could tell the installation was done properly, cool air coming out the vents. A couple months after installation I went to replace the filter. Looked everywhere trying to figure out where the heck the filter goes. I did find the installer schematic I have no engineering or HVAC background, but in one quick glance it was obvious that they had not installed the filter box assembly. There was an existing gas line which blocked access to where the box would have gone, but instead of bringing to our attention, the installers simply did not install the box. The folks I dealt with then were great and they sent technicians to uninstall the unit, redirect the gas line and reinstall the system with the filter box assembly. This last issue was just the opposite, and the indifference is infuriating. In April we decided to install a tankless water heater. We were all set but the water heater installer informed us that they could not do the install because of a refrigerant line blocking access to the water heater. That would have to be corrected by the HVAC company that installed the system. We contacted Hyde's and they sent out a technician, charged for a service call even though our purchase said it included 2-year labor warranty. The tech quoted several hundred dollars. When we texted Hydes we received a response from someone that did not give their name and they said that the technicians report stated that it was not a Hyde's installed line, that they only install to the existing line. Which is total BS since it was Hyde's that installed and reinstalled. And even commented that the line obstructs access to the water heater and access around the air handler, which hydes installed. I included photos showing the problem It is very obvious to anyone that the placement of the line would one day cause a problem. It juts out to the right and the down and in which causes it to press against the water heater with tension. I cannot believe that this is acceptable and have contacted the city building inspector to reinspect it since Hyde's had to reinstall. I texted back to Hyde's that their technician was incorrect and that there should not have been a service call fee based the 2-year labor warranty That text to them was over a week ago and there's been no response or hint of follow up. It was outrageous that they charged to send someone out to inspect their own work, and then deny responsibility for that way thr lines were put in by their own technicians is disgraceful a lacks any integrity I will update post after inspection and let you know. I really don't know what to say. You encounter so much poor service and workmanship nowadays that I am at a loss for words. Hydes was a little more expensive than other quotes but completely worth it. Not only was a great system installed perfectly, but the wall repair that was needed to close the opening for removing the old system and installing the new one was so perfectly repaired you would NEVER know anything had been done. This kind of commitment to perfection today is unheard of. Of course the entire staff was courteous, respectful and professional. At every step of the way. Well done. Highly recommended. read more

So very disappointed in the experience I had with Hyde's. Where do I start? My AC system lost freon and the Hyde's technician (Jeff) came to my house to fill up 5 pounds of freon last weekend. He then returned on Monday to do the leak test. Before he arrived two days later, the 5 pounds of freon in the system was gone and no cooling. A leak test was performed and I was advised that my 5 year old system needed to be replaced! What? A few minutes later they advised only the unit itself needed to be replaced at a cost exceeding $5K. I inquired about the warranty and later spoke with Mike Hyde, who indicated the coils should be replaced. Being suspect of this minimal evaluation, I called out two other AC companies and paid for their diagnostic tests. It was determined I did NOT need to replace the entire unit or even the coils, but I had a malfunctioning Reverse Valve that needed replacing, which was a fraction of the cost of a new unit. I actually saw the leak in the valve, as shown by the other company, Erkies. At no point in time did the Hyde's tech advise of this leak or even check that valve! Unacceptable and poor training and workmanship by this company. Hyde's was very quick to "upsell" their customer with an entire system. Anyone with sense would have secured a second or third opinion, which I did and was advised by Erkies that in no way was the replacement of a 5 year old system necessary. Shame on you Hyde's. The most unprofessional and disorganized group of service providers I've ever worked with. We needed TWO Nest thermostats installed, but there was no existing wiring. They told us that they could wiring AND install the thermostats, so we scheduled the service. And then: 1) The sales rep gave us a quote, but either misspoke or failed to tell us that it was only for one of the thermostats. So the day the tech showed up, they told us the price was double the original quote. 2) the tech realized that one of the thermostats couldn't be installed the way we asked. So instead of installing one, he left the property without installing either. 3) we finally spoke to the owner, and he said that the quote didn't include running the wires, which is why we even used them in the first place!! 4) and then he proceeded to tell me that I didn't understand what I was talking about, and that his sales rep didn't tell me the wiring was included, as if he knew what was discussed in the call. Instead of owning up to the mistake his sales rep made. Altogether, I spoke to 4 people in the company. None of them had any idea what was going on, and no one was on the same page. read more
