We had a misunderstanding about when they would arrive at my home to provide an estimate, and I was left waiting, but it was resolved rather quickly. The technician that arrived was a young man who appeared inexperienced in doing estimates. I had already received several estimates from other plumbing companies, which were very complete. Initially, his estimate was reasonable. Then I asked him how much he would charge me for picking up the toilet from the hardware store. His response was $200, and informed me that that would be an hour's work. Several other companies had given me an estimate of $45-$50 to pick up the toilet from the store. I also know from experience it doesn't take an hour to pick up a part from the store. This put his bid above every other estimate. It was very obvious to me, judging by his body language and response, he needed training in providing a work estimate. I gave the job to another company who completed the work the same day and charged me $45 to pick up the part for the job.
