Pork 2. Rice Noodle Soup with Pork
    Andrew K.

I wasn't so familiar with Cambodian food and was admittedly a little overwhelmed by the options/menu here. We narrowed it down to two dishes and asked the waiter for his input on these, at which point he recommended two other dishes. Not sure where the miscommunication was, but we somehow ended up receiving all four dishes. Lots of leftovers. We started with the pork noodle soup. This was familiar to things I've had before but with a thinner slice of pork, which was a nice change of pace. The broth was nice but I thought adding some chili oil really amped it up. Next came the prahok ktis. We weren't so sure how to eat this: it's a dip? Or a spread? It's minced meat and comes with vegetables to use with it. I found the texture and taste to be very similar to mapo tofu in terms of the oiliness and minced meat and so therefore really didn't care for this dish. Next came a beef dish, I THINK the steak & prorhok sauce (recommendation from the waiter so not totally sure which it was). This was my favorite of the day. The steak was plentiful and cooked wonderfully. The sauce was an interesting flavor with fermented fish that I quite enjoyed. Again, came with vegetables so wasn't sure if this was a dip or spread situation. Finally, what everyone orders, was the sour soup. I'm sure this was technically done quite well but I very much am not into this dish. I had a hard time reconciling the pineapple with the rest of the flavors and absolutely the pineapple is the dominant flavor which, for a soup, I don't love. The price would have been fine had we only gotten two dishes as intended, so would recommend clarifying before ordering. There are a lot of things we didn't try so would consider coming back to explore more but wasn't blown away by anything we had the first time.

We had a large party of about 7 people and it was AMAZING! We ordered family style and got tons of appetizers and entrees to share. All perfectly plated and came out steaming hot in courses. The Khmer dishes always taste best with friends! LOVE that they still have the giant lazy susan spinners on the tables. The restarant is small with some decor but is not over the top. There is plenty of room between tables so you can enjoy conversation without worrying too much about bothering your neighbors with chatter. Staff are friendly and checked on us the perfect amount of times. Now, the food is THE BEST PART! I especially loved the papaya salad with not just fermented fish/shellfish but you even got little pieces of whole crab shell to suck and chew on! We got several yummy nuggets of crab legs to enjoy. The fried quails were crispy and seasoned well with tons of meat on them. Really loved the soup (we asked for it extra sour and they delivered)! The beef dishes were super juicy and their richness contrasted with the fresh, crisp vegetable perfectly. I am excited to go here again! I may try take out in the future cause I keep dreaming of the appetizers and fun time we had.

I usually order to go when I want my authentic Khmer food fix. My take out is usually ready within 30 minutes. The quality is great and the flavors are always consistent. It's a small business establishment but they're usually pretty professional and friendly.

This restaurant has really great authentic Cambodian cuisine. They have variety of family style dishes to share and served with white Jasmine rice. My favorite was the fried quails, so good i forgot to snap a photo of it with their papaya salad. We had to get a 2nd order. They also have noodles dishes too. Its a small mom and pop, so not ideal for big parties but can definitely do.

I think I Heart Cambodia has some solid food! I got the Rice Noodle Soup with Pork, which hit the spot for me. I think I particularly enjoyed it because I was pretty hungry and was craving something soupy. I think objectively it's pretty decent, though nothing phenomenal.

Came on a Friday evening and to my surprise no one was in there. Actually, there was another person and he was the server and chef. He went back and forth between taking phone orders and back to the kitchen, poor guy. Anyways, we were still open minded and wanted to give this place a try. We decided to order summer rolls, spring rolls, beef and meatballs noodle soup, and beef fried noodles. I was a bit surprised at how fast each food came out - not that i was complaining bc i was hungry af. Anyways, here's the breakdown Summer rolls: he made it fresh and added pork belly and shrimp. I wished he didn't add cucumbers on it bc it didn't go well imo. The pork belly had a bit of a smell and i didn't like that. The sauce that went with it was good. Spring rolls: they were as thin as my fingers. Not a fan. Beef and meatballs soup: NO COMPLAINTS WHATSOEVER. It was so flavorful and steaming hot. I actually will go back just for this. Beef fried noodles: had a nice color but wished he put more umph into it. The beef could've been more tender. Overall, 6.75/10.

Great restaurant for some Cambodian food! I came here with my family for Father's Day and we very much enjoyed our meal. I really wanted to order the Bone Soup but they were all sold out since it was so popular! You cannot go wrong with anything that you order from here. Our waiter was very nice and attentive. The inside was clean and decently sized for a restaurant in South Philly. I would recommend going here if you're ever in South Philly and want some authentic Cambodian food! Remember to always support your locals and small businesses!!!!

The chicken curry deserves 5 stars, on its own! It's not like any other curry (Korean, Thai, Japanese..) due to the use of coconut. Don't worry, it's not the harsh flavor of coconut. The eggplant in the curry is delicious and the chicken is flavorful/well cooked. We also ordered the stir fry with beef. It has a slight kick and has lemongrass which can be a very acquired taste. Service was courteous as they let us take our time and let a group of friends catch up with one another, even though they wanted to/could have closed early. Parking is pretty difficult to find, but if you're willing to walk a few blocks, it's doable! Typical south Philly parking.

3.5 stars - Arrived at 10:30am and there were 1-2 tables already there. My Cambodian friends always visit here when they come to Philly so I came for a try. Things I ordered: Bone soup $8.95 - literally just bone with some meat and soup. The soup is so flavorful. I saw other people order it too so I wanted to try it. It is not on the menu, you have to just ask for bone soup. If I come here again, I would definitely order this. Papaya salad $8.95 - different than the Thai salad. I like this one more. It tastes more like tamarind and each bite is cooling and very flavorful. This and the bone soup was probably the top things I liked from our order Chicken mi ka tang $9.95 - rice noodle with chicken and sauce. There is no wok hay at all. The noodles seem like they were doused in sauce and cooked pretty quickly. The chicken was soft, tender, and tasty. But I would not order this again. Not bad, but had better elsewhere. Fried dough $2.50/roll - we didn't intend to order this but the waitress was like "want fried dough?" And I said "ok" so we ended up with two fried doughs. I would just order 1 next time just to taste. The dough is very very crispy but it was so oily. The bottom of the basket that held the friend dough had a puddle of oil. Probably wouldn't get this again, unless if I maybe ordered congee or something. Rice noodle soup with beef and meatball (#1) $8.95 - saw the neighboring table order 1 of this per person so we ordered one to try. Soup is the same as that in the bone soup. Noodle and everything else was standard. The meatballs are not made in-house (saw the delivery guy). The broth was really good. Affordable prices. It's located in South Philadelphia in a small Southeast Asian/Cambodian town. Not the safest neighborhood in the streets surrounding the area, but not the worst. I parked a few streets away and found parking pretty easily. A few southeast Asian grocery stores with imported products which is hard to find elsewhere (even in nyc) so I would def go take a look at those stores.

    Tilapia with tamarind sauce.

South Philly's the place to get your grub on, especially Cambodia Town. I'm pretty envious but simultaneously glad that Philly's just a short bus ride away from New York City. I never got the chance to try the much-raved Khmer Kitchen, but we thoroughly enjoyed our meal at I Heart Cambodia. We ordered the brahok ktis since I heard it was one of Khmer Kitchen's most popular dishes, and I wanted to give it a try here. This mix of ground pork, coconut milk, lemongrass paste, kaffir leaves, and fermented fish sauce made for a really fragrant, sweet, and spicy "dip" of sorts. It was oily but delicious. We also got the whole fried tilapia with sweet and sour tamarind sauce. The tilapia was really tasty, with nice crispy skin and flaky, tender meat. We could even eat some of the fried bones. It also went well with the tamarind sauce. Both dishes came with raw vegetables that added a refreshing contrast to the oiliness and were a good way to get those veggies in. I got a durian shake made with fresh durian, and trust me, you can taste the difference. My friend got an "egg soda" since we were both curious about it. It's made with raw egg, seltzer, and condensed milk mixed together. Don't worry about the raw egg, you can't even really tell. It tasted a lot like a vanilla egg cream to me. Our waitress, who grew up in Cambodia, was super friendly and helpful. She told us a lot about the country's culture and food. I hope to visit one day, so it was great to get a little primer.

The name just yells at you to eat there if you have love for Cambodia. The establishment itself wasn't too fancy, but had a nice humble vibe to it. The first thing that caught me off guard was that the servers called me "bong" which is like saying older brother or signifying respect to someone older. Being from the DMV where I'm surrounded by Vietnamese and Koreans, I found this strangely comforting. I ordered their kuy tieu (it's like pho) and it tastes like how my mom makes it. Another bonus was that it was super cheap at around $8. If I lived in Philly I'd totally be a regular at this place.

From the food to the service, every part of the experience felt thoughtful, intentional, and genuinely memorable. It's the kind of restaurant that reminds you why dining out can be so special. The space itself is cozy, intimate, and full of character. The unique design creates a warm, welcoming atmosphere that makes you want to settle in and enjoy every course rather than rush through the meal. The service deserves every bit of a 10/10. All of the servers were incredibly attentive, knowledgeable, and passionate about the menu. Since several dishes and ingredients were unfamiliar to us, they took the time to explain each one, answer our questions, and offer recommendations without making us feel rushed. That guidance gave us the confidence to step outside of our comfort zone, and every recommendation paid off. We ordered the Mawn Noodle Soup, Grilled Saht Koh, Mahope Samut, Steak and Prohok, Thai Crab Fried Rice, and ended the evening with the Funnel Cake. Every dish was beautifully plated and packed with bold, balanced flavors. The Steak and Prohok was refreshing and full of flavor in every bite. The Grilled Saht Koh had a perfect char and was cooked beautifully. The Mahope Samut was exceptional, with tender, perfectly seared scallops. Both this and the Saht Koh were perfect starters. The Mawn Noodle Soup was incredibly comforting with layers of flavor and easily one of the highlights of the meal. The Thai Crab Fried Rice was another standout--light, fragrant, and loaded with fresh crab, making it much more than just a side dish. And somehow, after such an incredible meal, the Funnel Cake still managed to steal the show. It was the perfect ending: crisp, indulgent, and not overly sweet. It's easy to see why MAWN has earned such a loyal following. Exceptional hospitality, creative dishes that are executed with precision, and an atmosphere that feels both relaxed and special make this one of the best dining experiences I've had in Philadelphia. We'll absolutely be back, and next time, I'll be ordering the dishes we loved while making room to explore even more of the menu!

Walking in around 5:45pm on a Friday evening in June without a reservation, I was able to get a table for 45 minutes within five minutes. Here's my experience. 1) Food: Wow- just wow. Everything is excellent. To feed a hungry stomach, I ordered the Garlicky Cabbage, Yellow Curry Noodle Soup with Chicken, and my server gifted me with the Grilled Saht Koh as a surprise. Everything had textured flavors that are well balanced. The winner for me was the Garlicky Cabbage. Having grown up in a country where cabbage is the staple, these are among the best I've ever had. I'll note that I was warned that the Yellow Curry Noodle Soup was spicy. I love spice but can't handle it. I was unaffected by the soup's spice level. 2) Drinks: The Thai green iced tea was unique, refreshing, and delicious! I almost ordered a second. Like many places in Philly, it's BYOB so there isn't a cocktail, beer, wine menu. 3) Service: It was excellent. Taylor, my server, was passionate about the menu, personable, and interesting to talk to. She's awesome! 4) Location: In South Philly, there's a lot to experience nearby from top-rated restaurants, parks, and public art.

There might be a slight difference between stands, but since it's so common, you can't really go wrong with anyone who sells. - Stir Fry Noodle Lady! The groceries in this area are cheaper than any place on Washington avenue and just as varied (if not moreso). The real reason to come down here is the street food. Anywhere in this area, but particularly along 7th between Ritner and Snyder, you'll be able to find street hawkers selling freshly open-air grilled beef and chicken at a single dollar per serving (two servings and some sticky rice for $2 for a total of $4 is enough for a meal). The best thing to try to get in this area if you're adventurous is the papaya salad from any of the hawkers (I prefer the fat lady at 7th just south of Winton, around 2130, I guess). In Thai, it's called somtam, but it is of Cambodian origin and called bok l'hong. Its hot, garlicy, salty goodness is fantastic at $5 no matter which hawker makes it for you (and it's prepared fresh to order by all of them, too). It's an enormous amount and really, it's enough for six people as an appetizer salad. Goes great with sticky rice. There're also hawkers along Moyamensing between 8th and 4th and around Mifflin Square at 6th and Ritner (NOT Mifflin, oddly enough) and they all carry the same sort of stuff. If you're worried about the area, there's a hawker on the south side of Jackson St near Mildred between 9th and 8th and that area's a tad less rough. I'd give five stars, but sometimes you'll venture here and find no hawkers. Their availability changes with the weather and on colder or rainy days, you'll find no one.
