I typically only leave restaurant reviews if my experience was either exceedingly favorable or negative, as mediocrity is something you should be able to expect from any venue and not particularly helpful feedback. This one is no exception. I Love Sushi is a small "hole in the wall" Japanese/Asian fare restaurant, focusing on sushi. The exterior is very unassuming and the interior while cozy and charming, isn't much more impressive. The winning ambiance however is not in the design or decor, but in the untypical attention to customer service. Each customer receives a friendly greeting from the staff and the owner, as well as a warm farewell when they leave. Each employee will try to accommodate to the best of their ability and often remember their repeat customers. In terms of their menu you won't find anything overly "unique", aside from a small array of specialty rolls some of which bear similarity to more common staples. That being said, the portions are generous and the quality of the food you receive is typically well above average. I always try to leave a balanced review of places and in kind am largely dismissive of purely negative or positive reviews, as they almost always aren't accurate. This is why I saved my person impression with this restaurant for the end as it may be a bit biased. I quite honestly can't say enough good things about I Love Sushi. My first experience there was roughly 7 or 8 years ago and have regularly returned ever since. The food is delicious and the staff are amazing. One visit fell on an employees birthday, and the proprietor brought a piece of the birthday cake out to my table to share with me at no charge. There were a couple of times I was displeased with the quality of the chicken I received, but those are greatly outweighed by the mouthwatering nabyaki udon they serve. The bluefin tuna nigiri is thus far the best I've had. The hours during weekdays close between lunch and dinner from 2pm to 5pm and they do not seat incoming customers within 30 minutes of any closing point, so bear that in mind if you plan to make a trip there. They also have exterior seating if you're an outdoor person or just want a more open environment to enjoy your food. I highly recommended giving this place a try! read more

Just returned from a Delicious dinner from I Love Sushi. Was attended by individual servers and even recieved a hearty "HELLO" from staff as we enetred the restaurant. Food was delicious. I even endured the HEART ATTACK Roll without needing EMS Paramedics! LOL. I have been to this place a few years ago and had good to mediocre service. Am glad to report they have turned it up a notch or two. Without a doubt, The best, reasonably priced sushi place in Denton. Bar none. read more

This use to be my favorite little sushi place in Denton, but after my last encounter I will plan on eating somewhere else. I ordered 4 rolls and was shocked at how small they were. In the past, I would buy 2 rolls to go and they would barely fit into one meal sized to go box. This most recent visit (which was my first in about 4 years), three of our rolls...spicy tuna, California Roll and the shrimp tempura roll...were all in one meal box. Another roll...the Baked Louisiana Roll...was in a sandwich box. In the past, that roll use to barely fit into a meal box by itself. Other than the size, the quality was sub par...there are many other sushi places in town that deliver better rolls. The miso soup is very different from what they served in the past and not as flavorful, either. I'm assuming that all of the high ranking reviews are from people who never ate at I Love Sushi 5-6 years ago. If they did they would feel the same as I do now....very disappointed! read more

This is my go to sushi place in Denton. Granted there are far better options in Dallas/Carrollton, however for the location, it's the best in Denton. The sushi is always fresh, comes out quickly, and there is a ton of variety. Never had any issues with service. I would def recommend this place. I've had 4 first dates here, including my last one ever (fingers crossed). Complimentary miso soup, very artfully presented sushi, over a hundred rolls to choose from.. Great place to eat and have a quiet date with someone. The dining room is small, so it feels exclusive even though there are options in everyone's price range and cuisine. The only drawback is the parking and entrances/exits, but I'm not letting that affect their score because it's not their fault that Denton can design an infrastructure to save their lives. I regularly have cravings for I Love Sushi. Their Calamari Rolls, Philadelphia Rolls, Chef's Special Rolls, Eel Rolls, Dragon Rolls,( the list goes on), are DELICIOUS. This is where I go for my comfort food. The wasabi has perfect bite, the green tea is warm and tasty, the food is fresh and prepared right in front of you, and the waitstaff is SO sweet. Been here for a Saturday afternoon for Lunch with family, They had these amazing appetizer spread.. the best was Monkey brain made of stuffed Mushroom, They have these Sushi Rolls.. Best were #98 CHEF's SPECIAL ROLL with crab meat, #88 PHILADELHIA ROLL, #117FUTOMAKI ROLL ! kids enjoyed CALIFORNIA ROLLS .. they definitely have a range of desserts with tempura ! I love the fact that they give you miso soup with your rolls as well. Their miso soup is delicious! Other restaurants' miso soup tends to be too salty or just off tasting. The staff was very helpful with paying attention to my wants and giving advice on what they recommended. Sushi was great and so was the atmosphere. The first time I walked into this small restaurant I was instantly greeted by the WHOLE staff, which can be a bit intimidating but to me it shows that they notice and care that your bringing in business. This was a small room with decorations all over the place and the staff really knew their stuff about what was on the menu and any question could be answered by someone. My boyfriend and I went we got for an appetizer calamari tempura which was soooo good. i love calamari and the way that it was fried was impressive the calamari was tender but not overcooked which most places do making the squid really soft and not as chewy. ( 5.50 bucks) then we shared a soft shelled crab, with crab and eel on top calli roll (13.50) again this was really light and good. Lastly we each got a desert, i got 2 Mochi balls and my boyfriend got plum wine ice cream and for the prices we got A LOT of desert. The total bill wound up coming to less than 30 dollars. And as far as sushi goes I thought was really cheap. I would def. recommend going there again. read more

We were driving back home to Oklahoma after vacationing in Houston and the wife and I had a craving for some sushi. I found this place using my iPhone (not by Yelp) but I'm glad I did. I Love Sushi in Denton, TX is great and reminds me of my favorite spot Koba's from Tampa, FL. I Love Sushi is a cute little restaurant with a small 3 or 4 person bar and about 10 tables. The sushi was fresh, the waitress was very nice and the place looked homey in a good way. I asked the chef which was his favorite and he asked me what I liked. I replied with "unagi" and recommended a Dragon Roll for me. He even gave me a piece of unagi so that I can try it out and see if I like it. I ordered the Dragon roll along with a few others and some fried rice to complete my to go order. I had a miso soup and a sakura beer while waiting and my order was was ready by the time I finished them. The waitress even wrote a thank you note in Japanese on one of my to go boxes. Definitely give it a visit if nearby, you won't be disappointed! read more

This place, much like Japango, is a great place to take someone who has not tried Japanese food or who may be a novice. The place is warm and inviting and they have some of the best wait staff. I have been here numerous times and have had no complaints regarding the quality of the food or the wait staff. One time, I ordered and the food took a long time to be brought to me but there was quite a crowd that day. One time I had this New Orleans roll of fried crawfish and other things. Great little sushi restaurant! Happened upon this gem via weighing different reviews and distance from my hotel. We were greeted warmly by staff, restaurant was clean and decorative, very nice ambience and the service was great. Next the sushi menu: oh my word, it was extensive and creative. Had to munch on a plate of edamame while deciding, there was quite a selection with several interesting options I had never encountered in any California sushi bars. Naturally wanting to try several, we selected a few items and were impressed by the generous portions. We had lunch the following day. The rolls were creative, stuffed with fish and very flavorful. If you like poppers, I highly recommend the Heart Attack ( jalapeños stuffed with cream cheese and spicy tuna- yum!). Next interesting option, the Tokyo Tower. This is a beautifully presented stack of California Roll, spicy tuna and rice~made for a great melding of flavor but in hindsight, I would not have had the waitress mix it artfully at my table because I could have saved some major calories by not eating the rice. I could go on but will just close with the recommendation to give this little restaurant a try, you will not be disappointed. read more
