iTea may not be 'the best' chains the Bay Area but it's definitely a popular option when you crave boba. I first noticed this chain in SF - Irving over 5 years ago and it has branched out to different neighborhoods in Fremont, Milpitas, San Leandro, Alameda, and Oakland to name a few spots. My go to is the oolong or jasmine milk tea with boba, 80% sugar, and 30% ice. If I'm looking for a fruity beverage, the mango green tea with lychee jelly and no boba, 80% sugar, and 30% ice is my choice. I've also had their mango sago which was a popular option when they first opened. If you're into durian, they had a durian sago as well .. but paying over $6 is a bit much for boba imo so I stick with the milk tea series. They started out with your simple boba snacks such as basil popcorn chicken and calamari but have expanded towards unagi rice, lobster tonkotsu ramen, and more! Their lobster tonkotsu ramen is suprisingly flavorful for it being a boba restaurant. Their happy hour is BUSY! Definitely plan to wait in line for 20-30 minutes. There is a spacious dining area, but it depends on your luck. I've seen people do work here, but that's if you can tolerate loud noise. They are open during Shelter in place accepting phone orders and deliver with postmates. You must wear a mask and they limit the indoor area to 8 customers. read more

Went in today and there weren't too many people inside. My boyfriend and I ordered on their self kiosk. For some reason, it took them 15-20 minutes to make our 3 item order. In between, we heard the manager talking to the staff pretty loudly. It seemed a bit unprofessional to be doing those things in the front of the store and it seemed like the other employees were just listening to what was going on instead of making our drinks. I ordered their hot chocolate latte drink, a popcorn chicken, and my boyfriend ordered the taro milk tea. I was extremely disappointed in my drink because it was barely warm and definitely nowhere near hot, and I wanted a hot drink to warm me up for the cold night. I had my boyfriend try it too and he helped ask the employees for a new one which they kindly remade. Unfortunately, they brought out the new one even with microwaving the ingredients and it came out colder than my previous one and didn't taste as good either. At that point, I didn't want to ask for another drink and just took it home. Even with microwaving it at home for 1 minute, it was just warm, not hot. Btw the drive was only about 5-10 minutes away. We always loved going to i-Tea. Hubby and I was going around Fremont and stopped by Pacific Commons to do a little shopping and get something to drink/snack on. We went to i-Tea and ordered our drinks and snacks. The staff is very friendly and kind. The area is big and opened. The wait wasn't too long, which was great. They got the sweetness level just perfect for my honey brown rice milk tea. There are a few go to drinks for me from here and I honestly would be back at this location whenever we are in this location. Love their snacks, cannot get enough of it. We love the popcorn chicken with the fried garlic! Yum! We forgot this time around to ask them to fry the garlic, but overall it was still delicious. We also got their fries and mozzarella sticks. Yummm! Hubs and I tried this spot for the first time. He got the grape jelly drink (idk the name) and I got milk tea with boba and pudding. Both drinks were phenomenal and the service is fast. The toppings were excellent boba was chewy and when I said less ice they ACTUALLY GAVE ME LESS ICE. The shop was pretty busy!! We'll definitely be back next time we're in the area to try out more of their menu. read more

It was exhausting talking to Mino, so I just ordered a new drink. While waiting for the new drink, she still kept trying to gaslight me. The REAL problem is the "manager" Gang. His unprofessionalism is the reason why I will never come back to ITEA. He comes out of nowhere and goes, "I don't care if you ordered boba, you should've doubled checked before the order was placed." I can't believe someone like him is the manager and expects us to do his job. After confronting him, he looks at us like we sank the titanic or something. i-Tea was the closest boba shop, so I decided to stop by. I ordered the Strawberry Crystal Frosty drink and it was really good! I haven't tried the crystal topping before, and it was very smooth. The texture reminded me of grass jelly. I read the other Yelp reviews, and I had a different experience. The cashier and I were able to communicate easily over my order even over the plastic divider. I think safety is very important during the pandemic, especially protecting food service workers, so if people have to repeat themselves for their order, they should just do so. The only thing that kinda threw me off was it felt like the cashier wanted a tip but didn't provide any additional customer service other than the minimum? He wasn't pushy about it, but he seemed expectant when the tip menu came up and was telling me to fill out the screen. Throughout our interaction for my order, the cashier did not say anything to me except to tell me that they were out of watermelon, confirming my order, and instructing me to complete the screen. i-Tea is a solid Boba spot anywhere they are located. With so many options on the menu, it always takes forever for me to decide on a drink. I usually don't venture too far from what I like but the staff are always so happy to share their favorites and what's popular. My friend decided to be adventurous and got the one with the tofu as a topping. I thought he was crazy but it ended up being surprisingly good. I got my usj and stayed with Wintermelon Tea with Balls aka Boba! It was lovely. What can I say, it doesn't take a lot to please me. Buy me Boba and you'll pretty much have me at your finger tips! I would've given this place a 5 star review for their Boba Drinks but their wifi wasn't working. Driving all the way from San Francisco with all my work stuff just to find out that the internet was down, was not good news. despite the drinks being amazing the service was horrible tonight. stood at the front counter for about five minutes waiting for someone to acknowledge me after having trouble ordering on their kiosk but no one did. decided to just download the app and order on my phone. we waited about 15 minutes and could see two people in the back making drinks but no orders were being called out. after another 10 minutes of waiting i asked my brother to go and see if the were ready. another 5 minutes of waiting to be acknowledged just for the drinks to have been there ready for god knows how long. there were many people still waiting and i just found it odd that no names or order numbers were being called out or even left out on the counter. they were just making drinks and leaving them behind the glass. you would think there would be any type of acknowledgment especially after purchasing items and leaving a tip but no. won't be returning to this location because their service is consistently horrible. would rather make the drive out to milpitas. read more

I've been to almost every itea around in the Bay Area and they are usually a hit or miss! Unfortunately, I was disappointed at this fremont location of itea. The only good thing is that there was only 1 other person in front of me so I didn't have to wait long to receive my drink. However, I got a mango sago which usually comes with mango chunks but it only had the sago balls. The mango sago was also really watery. This place changed their rewards system but I wasn't aware. Apparently if you order from the kiosk vs the counter, the reward system is different systems. I ordered from the kiosk and didn't know I was supposed to register at the kiosk. They didn't know how to check whether my purchase counted towards the reward. I lost all my previous reward points. I tea is located in the Pacific Commons shopping mall in Fremont, CA. It is located in a nice area where there's a good amount of foot traffic and the area is nice! Thai milk tea- This was my first time trying Thai milk tea. It's basically stronger brewed black tea with some Thai tea mix I beleive. This drink did not disappoint me because it tasted fresh and balanced! I loved how the Thai tea did not overpower the brewed black tea and how cold and great tasting it was! Jasmine Milk tea- It's a typical drink that you see in most boba places. They all taste pretty average and nothing like pops out. It's not a bad milk tea it's actually a nice tasting Jasmine milk tea. If you just want some jasmine milk tea to satisfy your boba cravings, this drink is for you! Brown Sugar Milk tea- I thought that I like the drink in generally but I feel that it's a bit too sweet for me and they added too much brown sugar. When I first saw the drink, I thought that's a lot of brown sugar and a bit more average than other brown sugar drinks. This one is too sweet for me but hey, I'm a sweet tooth and if you want a drink to sastfiy your sweet boba cravings, I recommends this drink if you really want to taste the brown sugar! First tried itea here in Fremont and it used to be one of my favorite boba places! Recently though, it feels like the drinks haven't been made as well as I remember. I used to get their rose milk tea which came with lychee jelly and boba. It was super good before but now it tastes kinda syrupy and strong. Came here recently and tried something new -- the fresh taro milk tea 50% sweet. It was really good! The one thing I didn't like though were the bits of taro in the drink. At first I thought it was taro powder so I'm glad it actually is fresh taro instead but the bits did throw me off at first. The boba was nice, not too chewy but not stale. I also ordered their seasoned calamari but they ran out of the spice seasoning. I ordered it mild and they didn't tell me until I got my order that they ran out so it was really bland but well battered. Overall, since the pandemic I noticed there's less people than before and we get our order a lot sooner. I definitely will be back b/c that taro is addicting! read more

I came here to meet some friends, they showed up and ordered. They liked their drinks and they ordered some popcorn chicken which I had never tried here, it was soooo good! Get the popcorn chicken, its a good treat! The place looked clean and the prices are reasonable. If you're in PacComs, i-Tea is def the best option for tea and snacks. Their fruity teas are my favorite esp Strawberry and Mango Green Tea with strawberry and mango bits. I recently tried their Super Fruit Tea and it was delicious and comes with real fruit on the bottom so you can eat it after you're done with the drink . The potato croquettes ($6.95) were huge and pretty good for boba shop food. One order came with four and they were like thicker versions of McDonald hash browns. My friend said her ramen was not that good though, so I wouldn't recommend it. It comes in a super big bowl though and the price is decent but you can prob go to another place with the same price and get better ramen. read more

I come here often and I have to say everytime I come here, I am left with disappointment. Today I not only found hair in my popcorn chicken but the chicken was pink. I was going to let the hair thing slide by pulling it out but it was literally stuck in the chicken, I couldn't even pull it out. Disgusting. I've also never seen such undercooked popcorn before. Even fastfood places seem cleanlier than this place. Another time they didnt seal my drunk properly and it spilled in my car Plus, they dont have napkins out for you. Pricey at $6+ so check in to get a free topping. I do prefer the Newark location with more smiley/upbeat employees. They'll charge separately if you order two or more per drink. Lots of snacks: basil popcorn chicken, calamari, mini milk buns, tea eggs, fish balls, chicken wings, takoyaki, donburi over rice dishes, etc. No ramen at this location. They have baked rice meals for $10.95! Choose from chicken with black bean or Portuguese sauce, seafood with cream, or pork chop with tomato sauce. I've frequented 3 other iteas in the Bay Area (Oakland, Castro Valley, Newark) and this location is the most disorganized and not very attentive. Apparently they ran out of something for a guest that already placed an order in front of me and when they called his number he had to choose another item. this caused the cashier to be flustered and delay taking my order when I was already up. I was standing in front of the cashier for about 3 minutes before the cashier came back to take my order. Product quality: 4/5 Still quality drinks and the consistency is there. Cons: -Happy hour starts at 830pm mon-thurs, instead of 8pm like the other locations. -Double check when they read the order back to you.
