This Happy Lemon location is in the Union Square Marketplace. Usually there is plenty of parking in this lot, but they do tend to get a bit crowded in this section of the plaza on weeknights and weekends. Usually a bit slow at this location compared to their other locations, but not the worst thing ever. I only frequent here because my friends and I like their Bubble Waffles. I used to be a huge fan of their Green Tea with Salted Cheese, but grew tired of it. A few of their fruit based drinks are not bad, but I do not really like their milk teas though and with so many boba shops nearby, there are so many other choices. Anyway, on this particular visit - I decided to grab a few of their Bubble Waffles and drinks for my friends and myself. It was about 10 - 15 minutes to get everything and I ended up with a couple of burnt Bubble Waffles with no offer to remake them. Got to my friend's house just to discovered the drinks were wrong too - the fruit teas had both the wrong sugar level and toppings, while the cheese teas were missing the toppings that were paid for. Fav drink but not fav location. Happy lemon Has my favorite drinks and whenever I'm craving something fresh and light, I instantly come here. They have several locations All throughout the bay. I've never had a good experience with Happy Lemon and today may be the last time I ever go to one. The service was great at this location but the food and drinks are abysmal, maybe hazardous Egg puffs - soggy and lacking in flavor Drink - the boba were good but I found a piece of black flake that smeared when pressed. If I had swallowed this mysterious object, I feel like I would have choked or gotten ill. It was horrifying to feel it enter my mouth through the straw but it was doubly horrifying to know that whatever I had drank may babe already been tainted. Always come here to satisfy my fruity lemon craving. I always get the C2 Freshly Squeezed Lemon Black Tea with lychee jelly. I feel like it pairs perfectly, not too tart and not too sweet! They are known for their salted cheese drinks but I'm personally not a fan. But I have friends and sisters who enjoy it very much. Overall, I highly recommend trying their drinks (: Sometimes it can get busy because it's near a high school so beware because the waits during the weekdays can be a bit longer than expected. Tried this branch for the first time-- After 9 pm they don't offer snacks except for the puff bread. We got Oreo drinks and tea. They didn't ask the sugar level so we got our drinks all at 100% sugar. They were tasty but were just too sweet for us. The puff bread was divine! We got the dip too which made the bread extra yummy. We waited for our order a bit. They put them on the side as we went next door to buy snacks (another boba place). And staff forgot to give them to use upon our return. I love Happy Lemon. This is my go to spot if I'm craving any drinks with salted cheese. I always get the black tea with extra salt cheese and then I also get another cup of salt cheese on the side so that I can put more on my drink when I finish it, I know it's a little excessive but I think I'm addicted to salt ha ha ha. We decided to order online thru Yelp and were given 20 minutes to have our orders to be picked up. It was easy and convenient and avoid the lines. We ordered the D5. Boba Milk Tea with Puff Cream and A5. Milk Tea Oreo Tiramisu SC. The tiramisu is separated into a small container and you just have to pour it into your drink once ready. This Milk Tea Oreo is very good. The boba is soft and you can taste the Oreo. The tiramisu is mixed with the drink and has a sweet taste. The Boba milk tea with puff cream is also good. There is a lot of boba place in UC but this place serves good quality boba drinks. I've been to several boba places and I consider this as one of my favorites now. Happy lemon is one of my favorite places to get a smoothie. I only ever been to the Pleasanton one. Then I was so happy that there was one in Union City, which is way closer to me. As I go in there, I noticed how dirty everything was. Very disgusting. Like , do they even mop? I wanted to still give them a shot, so I ordered some drinks. They were okay. Got them fast. Our visit wasn't exactly as sour as a lemon but it wasn't sweet as lemonade either. We finished eating lunch on Thanksgiving and decided to go here for a boba. I hope the manager/owner reads this as this might help with improvements to the place. - There were only 2 workers on Thanksgiving and the poor staff was working hard and were extremely backed up. I would recommend getting 1-2 more employees based on volume. - Staff told us boba would take at least 25 minutes to make, delaying drink orders. - When we wanted to order an extra drink, we were standing at the cashier line for at least 15 minutes before the staff was able to take our order. - All drinks were lackluster in flavor except for the Matcha Mango. I'd heard fantastic reviews about Happy Lemon, so I had to give it a try! I got their most popular drink, the black tea cheese foam. The medium size is actually quite small compared to other places "normal" size. You're not getting as much bang for your buck here. I thought the drink was really good! The cheese foam mixed really well with the black tea. My drink was really fragrant and creamy, just how I like it! The tables and chairs inside were a little dirty though. I came in right at opening, and the table surfaces were sticky; you could see dried spills on all of them. I'd think that because the shop had just opened, it would've been clean. Happy Lemon service & ambiance: Yellow color scheme (of course) with mobile chairs makes for plenty of seating room if staying in. The staff was friendly and they were extremely efficient and quick with getting our 5 drinks order out to us. The flat screen displays the drink orders currently in production and gives real time updates of when the drinks will be finished. I'm a huge fan of real time metrics and I love this service at Happy Lemon. Happy Lemon dessert beverages: I'm a cheese lover so the Salted Cheese Milk Tea (A8) was my choice. Perfect amount of sweetness and the salted cheese flavor enhanced the drink and wasn't over the top. I tried the Mango Lemon Slushy and that was delicious and refreshing. The strawberry black tea was an interesting flavor but definitely works. This was my first Happy Lemon experience and the next drink on the list is Yakult Green Tea. I drove by store this morning and thought it was closed but I saw the opening sign. So I decided to come in. Surprisingly, the store was decorated Halloween, so creative and nice. There are plenty of seats inside, and the tables are clean and organize. Most spacious Happy Lemon I've been to, we've got previous Payless to thank for that. Brightly lit interior with colorful walls in shades of light green and sunshine yellow. Plenty of seating options including high top communal tables and lower padded round seats with round tables. Comfy. Staff has been nice and informative overall. Can't go wrong with an iced tea with salted cheese mousse (foam) on top! Give it a go. Ask for sample if skeptical. My go to drink is an iced black tea with tiramisu cheese mousse, basically sea salt chocolate foam. Take that first sip and relish in frothy goodness before the tea sweeps through. Cheese foam not your thing? Why not order a lemon tea beverage? Be warned they have two kinds: Whole lemon blended tea (B series in medium size only) or freshly squeezed lemon tea (C series in large). I accidentally got a whole lemon black tea with bits of citrus pulp once, way too sour and upset my stomach after drinking a fourth of it. Freshly squeezed would've been better. If you like tart, go for it! They've also got lemon slushees with flavors like grapefruit and strawberry, fruit teas, milk teas, puff cream added to drinks, yakult drinks, plus a matcha series with added fruit syrups: mango and banana. I've gotten the mango matcha before and really liked it. It was too sweet for me so I asked for less syrup the second time, much better. Add a topping; mango crystal boba also available! Once I was here while ill and realized they only have a few hot drinks. It's limited to hot black, green, or oolong tea. I did get hot honey green tea though, only one size which is smaller than an iced medium. Adjust sugar and ice levels for optimum customization. Trying to decrease my sugar intake so I'm down to 50% sweet black tea with tiramisu cheese, 25% ice. Maybe I'll be ok with 25% sweet next time. read more
