I'd rank this spot as above average. I do think the syrup is sweeter than most other places. I had the coconut and guava with ube ice cream and pineapple ($3) which came out to $13. They only take cash and they close at 5pm (closed on Wednesdays). It's a small window to order and there's not an inside area with A/C.
Had to visit this place because we were craving shave ice on a hot day. First of all bring CASH. Lucky I got cash on hand. They have so many options. I was able to share my shave ice with my son, we got the melona with lilikoi and mini mochi balls and custard with ice cream inside. It was yummy!!!! Definitely hit the spot. Yall need to come and check them out .
Hole in the wall spot with the best milk shave ice!! We got the #7 milk shave ice with mochi balls and double pudding. The two of us shared it but I wished I had ordered my own because it was soooo good, especially with the custard pudding. Service was fast. They're cash only. There are some outdoor tables nearby where you can sit and eat. Parking was easy and free.
Located next to McDonald's, in a large shopping plaza. We had the Shaved ice with Half Cotton Candy & Blue Raspberry, with Mochi Balls. Parking can be crowded in these parking garage, but we got a spot on the first floor next to Starbucks. It's just an order window and there are seats in two separate common area in the plaza. They give you a key to the restroom which is located in a separate building. The only negative is the service. The guy was just through the motions and didn't want to answer our questions. Overall, awesome shaved ice from a local business.
Yummy lowkey shave ice spot! I like that they have a large variety of flavors and toppings to try! They have an oatmeal topping that is super interesting and unique to this spot. I quite liked the oatmeal, it was a nice texture and had a good sweetness to it and paired well with the milk shave ice. The pudding topping is also pretty good, but this is the most expensive topping. Still good to try though! This is a walk-up window but there are some outdoor tables nearby that you can sit at. Otherwise there isn't really a designated place to sit to eat. They're also cash only.
Been to ice garden a few times and the pudding is one of the highlights. The ice is pretty fine and they have a lot of syrup and topping options! Service was pretty fast. There usually isn't much of a line. They are cash only tho! Unfortunately their prices just keep going up and while they have a bunch of other pictures with combos there isn't a price listed with the pictures so I didn't really know the cost until I ordered. For my boyfriend and mine 2 shave ice with toppings it was upward of $25 which caught me off guard for just shave ice...
We came here on a Sunday afternoon and it was quite a long line. My boyfriend and I made our own shave ice with the flavors guava, lilikoi and lychee and added mochi balls and the custard flan on top. We thought the shave ice was ok. The syrups weren't anything special, I think we had better flavor syrups at other shave ice spots. The mochi balls were average as well but the custard flan was really good! It was pretty pricey as well for one shave ice with toppings. We didn't think it was really worth the long wait too. At least the custard flan was yummy so glad we got to try it out!
I ordered the lychee and melons shaved ice with mochi and custard and it was so good. Everything was refreshing and not overly sweet. The custard was a surprisingly good pairing with the shaved ice. Prices are reasonable and service was quick. Just a heads up, it's CASH ONLY. It's a bit tricky to find. We parked in the grocery store lot on the lower level and took the escalator up. Look for the small order window. Definitely worth the hunt.
What a great find! We were at Keiki Kingdom with our grandkids and told them we would go get shave ice after. I did a quick search and the first spot was in the mall so we skipped it and came to Ice Garden. We got there and saw the line and knew it must be a hot spot. When we saw the first order come out everyone's eyes lit up. We searched the menu and picked out our choices. It was fantastic! I usually get a snowcap but they have milk ice here and it reminds me of the homemade snow ice cream I make back home. Delicious! Mine was topped with tapioca and custard. The boy taking my order asked if I wanted one or two custards. I said one but let me tell you I wish I would have said two!! So good. My grandson got strawberry shave ice with mochi balls and vanilla ice cream and a custard topper. He ate it all. The other two shared a cherry and blue raspberry combo. The bowls were nice sized. Every bit was eaten. We will definitely hit this spot again.
Where the ingredients from East meets West form a bond of consistently smooth, fine shave ice creations. Craved for a cool dessert considering humidity in the afternoon. Was it worth the wait of driving around one way for shaded parking 20 mins on a humid day? Yes. Was it worth my time spending every cent on delectable and edible creation? Absolutely! Was it worth leaving a tip for the hardworking and grateful staff? You bet! Was it worth my time and effort of standing in line? Heck yeah! Some chose to consume their preferred shave ice on rectangular and round tables outside within walking distance. While others indulged in the comfort of their vehicles. I loved how the consistency of fine and smooth shave ice with milk flavor took a long time to melt. #5 with double custard or taro, milk flavor, mochi balls, double custard tasted fabulous and refreshing! Not too sweet! Not too heavy with regard to milk flavor taste and tummy feeling great! Every single millimeter was covered with multiple flavors. I'm able to order a different creation with every future visit. Cash triumphed all other methods of payment. Some creations will run out quicker midway through the afternoon. I will not feel bored and find numerous choices fun with the plethora of flavors.
ice garden used to be one of my favorite shave ice spots when i was younger. I remember back in the day there was two old ladies that used to own this shop. I believe it's been sold to someone else (seems like a father and son team now) It's been a really long time since i've come here - partly because im a townie and aiea is a venture for me unless im already doing something here. It was a hot summer day when i came - probably an hour before closing and everyone else had the same idea as me i suppose. The wait was a little long and there was 10 other orders for them to make when i finally got to the window too. They took cash only and my shave ice with 2 double flans was about 15.00. It was a pretty big portion to be shared by two people. The flan was as i remembered but the shave ice texture isnt as soft as some other places and they use artificial flavoring. I do like that theres a window outside tho so i can bring my dog with me. read more
Another to add to our shave ice expedition and on the last day of summer. Finally decided to try Ice Garden. Honestly have tried to avoid it bc the parking in horrible but I needed to add this to our list. First thing to mention is the staff is sweet and efficient. They move their line pretty quickly. CASH ONLY.... The shave ice tastes good. The syrup didnt make it to the middle for all of ours (family of 6) but that is not usually a deal breaker for me as I used to make shave ice. I know the struggle. The shave ice with all the extra toppings is expertly crafted and I was amazed it did not topple over. That being said...I didnt read the menu carefully enough. I saw the premade choices, listed by number, and with a description below... saw the prices of a bowl, saw the prices of add on toppings... but I thought that was if you were creating your own bowl. However, in big bold print, with **** noted next to it, it clearly states that the premade menu choices, are the price of a standard bowl and you have to add the price of all the toppings on there. While I would like to see prices listed under each menu picture, that mistake was all on me... But believe me, I understand why its not listed bc I had total shock value when my 6 shave ice totaled to almost $70. I dont think in the end I need all those toppings but it was all still delicious. If there's one place I MUST visit when on Oahu it's this place. It's a no frill family owned hole in the wall that serves up fine non icy shave ice. It doesn't count if you don't get their custard flan. I can't stress how amazing it is. It's eggy, smooth, and has a distinct caramel taste. Oh the things that I would do to get the recipe for this flan. It works very well with the subtle milk flavor ice which is my go to. Price is a little bit on the sharp side. Upwards of about $25 for 2 shave ice but I'll come back time and time again for that custard and support local. It's my favorite shave ice on the island. read more
Nothing brings back childhood memories like old school mom & pop places like this. Although you can no longer sit inside and the awesome ladies that used to run it are no longer there, it still hits the spot. Bowls and spoons are different from before, in fact they're eco friendly...mochi balls are smaller and probably aren't hand made anymore. I still love me a bowl of my fave...#29! Oat meal with chocolate and mochi balls! They're only open from 12- 5p on certain days so make sure to plan ahead. read more

This small mom and pop shave ice spot specializes in Asian inspired flavors including halo halo, milk tea, taro, and more. They've truly nailed the 'not too sweet' expectation that's sought after in desserts among the Asian culture. '#5': Milk shave ice with taro and mochi balls. I added a custard/flan to this, which was honestly a game changer! The shave ice was soft and the flavor was like a lightly sweetened milk tea. Loved the taro, and the mochi balls added a nice chewy texture to it. Portion sizes are generous as well! The lines here can get long, but that's how you know it's legit! Cash only place!! read more
Something about Ice Garden is so nostalgic. They haven't changed much since I used to come here as a kid. I will always come here when I'm in the area! I am obsessed with their oatmeal and have been for the past decade or so. Who would've thought you could put oatmeal on shave ice? I think they use a milk syrup on top the ice, but it doesn't need much syrup from the sweet oatmeal topping. Parking in this lot on the same level can be a mess, even at off-peak hours, but it's definitely worth circling around for the best shave ice. I paid for three bowls and it came out to around $25. I was a little bit shocked at the price, since they don't post their prices anywhere, or at least I don't think they do for the speciality combos. It's also cash only. read more
This place has awesome shave ice. It's just a little place and has an outside window. There are so many options, the menu is quite large, they have mochi and custard and other toppings. I'm a pretty basic guy when it comes to shave ice, I just like some flavors and maybe some jelly on top. The ice is perfectly soft and the syrups are just the right amount of sweetness. When I was there there was only one guy working (the owner?) and he was taking the orders and then making them. There was also a large group that was there so the food took a little while to come out...but no big deal, he was friendly and nice. Can't wait to come back on my next trip........ read more

Such a staple! Whether you're comin back from the beach, a hike, or even post-bowling like us, Ice Garden easily satisfies the afternoon craving for something cool and sweet B-) They have been serving their community for years, although they now operate out of a small window (': We ordered a variety of ice desserts, including blue vanilla, strawberry cream, strawberry, and pudding milk shave ice. The mochi are the perfect size and have a light, chewy consistency. The flan was so tasty and added a great overall flavor to the milk shave ice (my personal fav). Staff were welcoming as always~ Parking is plentiful in the plaza. read more
My go to shave ice spot! It's been a minute since I visited here. Used to come here all the time with my family as a kid. My go to is number 5 with custard pudding, which is cheaper than ordering number 7 with taro topping. They both turn out to be the same thing in the end but you save yourself a few dollars. If you haven't tried the taro topping, try it out! Check em out! read more
They have the BEST shave ice! I love getting the mochi balls and the pudding. Always get a snow cap too. The only thing is that, they are pretty pricey. Think they maybe are feeling the heat as they are a small mom and pop business. read more

What can I say? This place beats old sku spots like Matsumoto's & Shimazu's. New owners didn't change much, except no sit down area anymore. GET THE FLAN!! Get 2 if you're not lactose intolerant. And if u are, eat a bite of someone else's. read more

Seriously so good! My favorite shave ice on my trip. So many different toppings to choose from and the flan was a nice addition. The shave ice was smooth and creamy. Not as icey as others. There were so many different textures on top that made me keep wanting to come back for another bite. It was quite hot outside (as expected) but luckily you can just step inside the sliding doors and stand in the plaza hallway. The shave ice dishes are creatively overpriced and offer a plethora of custom toppings and flavors. As you can see in the pictures, the shaved ice is basically slopped into a bowl with toppings thrown on; leaving the dish with no texture or consistency like slop. Soon to be mush in the Hawaiian Heat. I've always enjoyed watching my shaved ice be made. The work and effort of shaping the perfect globe always gave me a better feeling about paying good money for frozen water with syrup on top. You won't find that here. No textured globe, just a bowl of mush for $16. I was shocked to hear the cost. Especially how fast these come flying out of the window. The profit margins here must be amazing. While the dish makes an excellent Instagram or Yelp photo, its taste and texture is unmoving. I will not be back. While there is parking, there is no seating available. There are some outside tables around the corner next to the escalator that goes down to Times grocery, but most are not shaded from the hot sun. read more

The flan is still amazing. A few months ago (maybe a year) we visited and the ice was a little coarser than I'd like. Idk if they made some upgrades, but today, the ice was fine and soft and back to the amazing shaved ice it used to be. We actually went to Ululanis first bc it's closer to home but the wait was ridiculous. Also, I think I might prefer the fluffy soft ice, instead of the packed down style shaved ice. I might make the 10 min drive across Aiea more often. If u haven't been in a while, go back, it's so good. read more
I haven't been here in years, but was happy to see that they are still in business! It's no longer run by the sweet elderly women who ran this shave ice shop for years, but the menu is the same (with a few additions) and the shave ice is still sooo good! It's nearby to the McDonalds and there's tons of parking. When you're ready to order, head up to the outside window as they no longer have the door inside the building to enter the shop. I recommend adding some toppings to your shave ice. The pudding and mochi balls are my favorite! read more

This little hole in the wall blows other mainstream shave ice places to the ground. The menu is simple, with our classic flavors but also incorporating things like condensed milk, and flan. The ice is melt in your mouth and the flavors are just the right amount of sweet, not overbearing but also not underwhelming. Be prepared to bring cash and be patient, there's only 1-2 of them working and when it's busy the wait can be a while, but it's all worth it. read more
Ice Garden is still my favorite shave ice joint on the island. I have been a patron of Ice Garden for 15+ years. 2 sisters used to run the place, but now their nephew does. The prices have gone up significantly. I don't get anything else but... #5 shave ice, taro milk, and mochi balls or #6 shave ice, taro milk, and ice cream... and always add a flan. Ice Garden is still cash only. The line on the weekend is ridiculous, so it's good to go on a week day. read more

Bust out the lactaid pills, this dairy delight is worth it! While it doesn't quite take a pretty picture, #29 milk shaved ice with oatmeal is surprisingly good. Especially when you add the custard pudding on top of it!! There is another shaved ice place that we frequent, on Beretania St. near University Ave., yes, you know the one with durian :) However, Ice Garden offered something unique and we had to try it out. First layer is the creamy shaved ice. #29's ice was fluffy and not course. This wasn't syrupy at all so that portion isn't super sweet. Second layer is the creamy oatmeal. Correct, you heard me right, cooked oatmeal for dessert. Who does that? I eat oatmeal for breakfast but if this is what makes dessert healthy, then bring it on :) Next is the drizzle of chocolate. I love chocolate but never in a million years would I think to put it on cooked oatmeal. Guess what, it works LoL And, there's tiny little treasures of mochi balls too! So now that you've taken the lactaid pill, go ahead, enjoy that luscious custard pudding. I'm told that's what they're known for and yes, it makes lots of sense. So creamy with a nice balance of a brown sugar sweetness. Shout out to Glen A. for the pictures he posted of the shaved ice variations that he and his family enjoys. So delicious! But a bit pricey. I met up with a friend to catch up over Ice Garden, and our two bowls came out to about $25. It was scrumptious and massive, but definitely something to budget for. On a hot day, nothing can beat a shave ice from Ice Garden, finely shaved ice, it's so soft and fine that it just melts in your mouth. So refreshing and tasty. Price is very reasonable, but just have to remember it's cash only. read more

Although I've lived on the islands for years, this was the first time I've gone to Ice Garden. I wasn't disappointed. There was a wait in line, but it wasn't so bad. Once we got our order, we found some seats on the side by the escalators. This dessert was delicious! The flan was definitely the star of the dish and is a must have! This has been in the community for a really long time and it's so underrated for being one of the best shaved ice spots on the island. I usually get the number seven which has the pudding/flan, milk shaved ice flavor, and mochi. You would never think a shaved ice flavored milk would be so delicious but here it is very delicious one of my favorite flavors. You can tell that the mochi is homemade because it's very soft and it is not all uniformed, which I absolutely love, their pudding/flan is also homemade very soft, perfect texture and perfect sweetness. They are a cash only establishment so please remember to bring cash and remember that this is a family owned business so show your respect and come support local. Try out all the other flavors and toppings that I've heard so much people rave about, but I'd like to stick to my original because you can't mess up a good thing lol. The customer service here is very welcoming and they are very sweet. The parking is shared with other businesses in the area but it's pretty easy to find parking and they do make your shave ice really quickly. Next time you're craving something sweet or shave ice I'd suggest try this place out and you won't regret it. This is one of our family's favorite places for shave ice. If it was closer to our area, I'm sure we'd come way more often. read more

I'm so glad I got to try this place. Honestly, this is an easy place to miss. If you aren't told about it, you might not give it a chance. It's surrounded by closed down shops. But when you give it a try, you won't regret it. Their shave ice takes it to the next level. Way more than just syrup and ice. The custard is soooo good it could be its own dessert. The portions here are huge and it's definitely shareable. Be aware that they only accept cash tho. read more

!CASH ONLY! We came at the perfect time because there was only one couple ahead of us and then after we ordered, there was a ginormous line of about 6-7 families who lined up behind us. I got the milk shaved ice with Mochi and custard & a scoop of ube ice cream which is on the bottom of the bowl. I can't remember what flavor my friend ordered but she added taro to her bowl. The custard/flan wasn't too sweet, but I wish it came with more Mochi toppings. I'd sacrifice a little bit of the shaved ice to add more texture to the dessert. I'm sure it's because it's busy, but I would suggest giving an order number out when they take orders because you have to stand so close to the tiny window waiting to hear for your order while they're also taking other orders. read more
A tiny hole in the wall (literally) serving delicious shaved ice for decades. Ice Garden always has a group of people huddled together eating shaved ice outside, for a good reason, it's super refreshing on a hot Hawaiian day! I ordered the milk base with taro, Mochi balls, and pudding topping. There is one size, and I would say it feeds 2 people. For shaved ice, it can be on the pricier side after all the toppings; I paid around $9.50 for mine. We sat outside around the corner where there are outside tables to eat. There is lots of free parking available in the center. read more

This is one of our favorite stops after the ALOHA Swap Meet! Ice garden is a hole in the wall mom & pop shave ice places in aiea that is Awesome! They have all the good toppings such as mochi balls, custard cups, condensed milk, taro, boba, And more! So delicious! Cash only guys and there's no seating, just an order window. Old school awesome ! Located right next to the aiea McDonald's. read more

Quick service and the ice itself was so soft and fluffy! Toppings were the perfect combination of textures and wasn't overly sweet. They are a little walk up window in the shopping center and there was limited parking at the time we went. Down side is there isn't a sitting area for you to enjoy it so you either stand and eat it or bring it to your trunk. It also was chilly and raining the day we went so if you're not willing to wait outside, you may want to try it when weather is nicer out. read more
