Fave place for drinks before the Rockies games. Bartenders and waitstaff are super nice and make the night for us.

Icehouse Tavern is a sports bar type restaurant in downtown Denver. We stopped in for burgers and beer. The service was pretty good. The waitress made a mistake and brought me fries instead of chips, but then realized her mistake and brought me chips too. The burgers were alright, but nothing to write home about. This restaurant was just okay for me. There are definitely some better options in the downtown Denver area. read more

Pretty good bar. They have above average bar food and great drink prices. $2 coors/bud lights all day any day!! Food specials rotate based on the day and are a great value. Great place to go before an event downtown. Does not get super packed and out of control like the rest of the LoDo bars also. 3rd update. Went back as a regular part of this year's Rockies season and I'm glad to report that the new ownership is doing a fine job. It's different than last year. They brought in pool tables and such and its bar food is what you would get at most other bars. However, it still has tons of tv's to keep watching the Rockies game even as I got my hand stamped at the stadium and went for some $1.50 beers at Icehouse instead of the $6 beers at the game. It's still a nice atmosphere with a good patio and it's only a block and a half from Coors Field so you can easily have some beers and make it back in one inning. read more

I have no idea as to the quality of the service, ambiance, amenities, or even furniture. I have never so much as stepped into the place. So what, you may reasonably ask, makes this guy think that he can pontificate on the merits of the Icehouse? One seemingly meaningless sandwich, that's what. A friend of mine brought me a rather drab looking chicken sandwich from the Icehouse a couple of days ago. The meat was completely swallowed up by what looked like a dry, boring bun. I don't recall whether it came with a side of any kind. I just remember being irritated by having been offered what looked like a culinary cure for insomnia. And then I took a bite. I couldn't tell you what, if anything was on the sandwich other than the chicken breast. But I can tell you that the angels started singing in my head, and some sort of light cast from the heavens appeared to transform the sandwich into a fluffy pillow of ambrosia. I think I may have peed a little. After the asteroid hits, you will see my feet sticking out of the dumpster behind Icehouse as I fight the cockroaches and Cher (the sole survivors of the blast) for the last of the chicken sandwiches. read more

I am super curious on how this place will do. It is in the old spot of Via, the French place I liked (can't remember the name). It kind of seems like this place/location is doomed, but I wish them the best of luck! We went in tonight for happy hour, dollar off draft, $3.50 wells. I wanted to try some of their signature drinks. On a rec, I went with the afternoon delight.....I asked lots if it was sweet..I was assured it was not. It came, and it tasted fresh, but super sweet. The next drink was one of Don Julio, cucumber, mint, grapefruit....good, but not sure it was worth $9. The menu looks reallly interesting, and I am hoping it will be their strength. I have to say, you don't find clam dip on many menus. We ordered it, and it was very tasty, although the clams were few and far between, but delish nonetheless. The menu consisted of burgers, to ribs, to gumbo, fish tacos, to steaks, etc. So, lots of items, and all a bit highly priced for what I think the concept is. My BF and I were talking about why restaurants are not successful in this space...is it because there is so much competition around? Is it because people can get the same food at a lower cost close by?? I don't know....Again, we did love the app we had, and we will be back to try something more substantial...we just aren't feeling "I can't wait to go back and try everything" like we were last night at Steakbar (see that review). Been here a couple times for lunch with coworkers. Food is pretty good and always filling. They really need more people, at least one more for lunch. The one person. And get over whelmed and the service gets slower. Not the guys fault but the managements fault for allowing this. read more

We went with a group of six people after the rockies game last night. Got there it was close the the field had a great big patio....so we got drinks at the bar and went out on the patio to seat. Well a bit goes by and a couple of people in the party want to eat..so we see one of the bartenders and we ask her can we order food..she says "yea ill get you a menu" so she brought the menus...never should back up....so we went to the bar where there she was...while taking our order i though she was just gonna explode on us. We asked a question and holy schmolly dont do that!! Not really wanting to make to much of a scene we paid and went back to our group. The food gets delivered and i ask on e of the guys what is up with there unfriendly staff and his reply was...ooo shes been here since 10.....ooooook so thats my fault for coming in? The bottom line is the foods was decent...the drinks...well there drinks...the staff...Ice House just because your close to Coors field doesnt meant you will always get the business...your staff needs some serious overhaul.... read more

VIA is gone and the new Ice House is a welcome and inviting change. The interior is now casual yet speaks to the history of the building and neighborhood. To extend on this connection the food is now more comforting yet maintains a level of creativity and quality that differentiates it from all the other taverns in the area. Check out the slow roasted turkey on stuffing bread with cranberry sauce and gravy. It is absolutely the best sandwich i have ever had. Amazing taste . The bread is actually made of stuffing. Its so good it brings back the comforting memories of childhood thanksgivings.Well some of the memories at least. No screaming, spilling things, food fights etc. But while your eating you can now see a bit of the outdoors or chat with others at the repositioned bar. The bar is getting pretty busy at happy hours since you can now sit all around it and actually see and talk to others across the way. No more staring at a blank back bar wall. I hope the place makes it. If the rest of the food is anything close to the taste of that turkey with stuffing bread sandwich, it will definitely be my hangout for lunch and dinner. By the way, now's the time to try it out since the grand opening is not scheduled for a week or 2 yet. Although it may not be as crowded as some of the other name bars in the neighborhood, you wont be dissapointed by the food or the environment. read more

The bartender was crazy rude. My boyfriend tried to order a water for a me and a drink for himself. The male bartender then turned his back on us and went to the next party. Seriously? A girl can't get a water? The lady bartender kind of saw the thing go down and looked very frustrated and came over to ask us what we wanted. I said I had tried to get a water and he wanted a beer. I got my water. Still no beer. They didn't actually even ask him what kind of beer or anything. We are 32 and 34 lol. Its not like we are 17 trying to pull one over on someone. We left. Not sure what the deal was but the place WASN'T packed, just 5-10 annoying "bro" types prob. I finished my water before we took off. Maybe we resemble some hoodlums that caused trouble there before? Went for a company lunch at noon and there were only a few more tables of customers. The server wasn't very friendly or attentive.. you could tell that the place was short staffed. It took about 20 minutes for our food to come out. Not much flavor to the food and it was slightly cold. Bad service, dull food, cool atmosphere. read more

I do not know how or why I have not been here before! Cold beer, and perfect location!! This place has a better than average feel for the location! Great beer selection, great service, clean, not crowded, and went there today for the $5.00 burger - which did NOT disappoint! A hand-crafted patty, choice of cheese, their "house sauce" which was A-1 not pink sauce based, proper fixings, and fries! Even cooked to order! Cute bar, pool tables, and ample condiments and napkins! Why not a 5-star? Bathrooms are a hike, and I really want to try it again NOT on a Monday, which I will, and maybe bump up the stars! We had a great time here before the last Rockies game of the year. Fun people at the bar outside, cheap draft beer and $4 Jim Beams! The waitstaff were on top of their game. Last week was my first visit to the Icehouse. Went here to meet up with friends and get some food and drinks before we hopped from place to place. The prices here are normal and the food is solid. The building is awesome just like all the downtown restored ones. It was pretty dead here for a friday night but I think most people were avoiding downtown because the stock show had rented out a lot of the bars. Wait staff was friendly and they even let us use their gag shake weight! read more

Went for lunch on a weekday, only one guy working, waited 15 minutes at the bar before leaving, never even got our drink order.

It took about forty minutes to get our appetizer, which was chips and salsa! After this problem the rest of the night was fine. Luckily we weren't in a rush and were enjoying the drinks. There was good bar food. I had fish and chips for ten bucks and it was a big portion and tasty. The waiter gave us all a drink on the house for our wait which was nice. read more

Stopped by on a Saturday night ($2 Coors, thank you very much), and I was pleased. It wasn't very crowded, but the crew I was with said it's a lot busier before/after Rockies games, and I'm sure other sporting events bring in some traffic as well. There are pool tables, some tvs and a patio that I loved. The patio has rustic looking picnic tables and is very roomy. The drinks are inexpensive (see above), and the ambiance is great. I would love to see what it's like here on a crowded night. All in all, I liked Icehouse and will be back. read more

We came here for the $2 draft beers and cheap appetizers, and to see fellow niner fans in Denver of all places. They have good service and good food, but the food takes forrrrrreeeevvvvver to actually come to your table. It's frustrating to wait so long when you're starving. Definitely fun to go to if you're a 49er fan traveling to Denver. read more

Came in after Rockies game, cheap beers, and I was encouraged by menu saying "smoked wings". Not sure what's being smoked, but these wings are fried, over fried and too crispy for my liking. I love smoked or grilled wings, and seek them out. But this ain't the place for that :-( read more

Had some Sunday fun day drinks and food recently. Service was on point out on the patio and we never felt neglected. Food was run of the mill bar grub but that is expected. Atmosphere was fun and the people watching great as there was a Rockies game that day as well read more

This location could be so much more, but at the end it is just a sports bar, with really not enough T.V.s in good locations to watch anything. It was very hot, at 6pm on a Sat. night, like 80 degrees inside hot, so they might have a problem with the a/c. Wait staff seemed to be nice but checked out, they didn't even know there were happy hour specials on the weekend, but when asked if they were new, they weren't. read more
