2021/03/15 One of the rare spots in San Diego for getting snow ice. The staff was really friendly, but they got my order wrong. With that aside, it tasted really nice. I got a CUSTOM AFFOGATO with an ube shot, JASMINE MILK TEA snow ice, and Sliced Almonds and Cookie Dough for toppings. Here are the highlights: - You can customize the desserts here however you'd like, from size to flavours to toppings. You can get snow ice by the ounce, and there's an option for split flavours. - I got an affogato with JASMINE MILK TEA, but they just gave me the ORIGINAL MILK. - It might've just been too cold for my taste buds, but the snow ice was very mild in flavour. It had a pleasant sweetness, but it's really faint. The ube shot really boosted the flavour profile. - They described the ube shot as ube jam plus ube extract, and it's different from the other shots in that it doesn't have caffeine. - You get 2 toppings of your choice and a wafer cookie with the the affogato. The wafer cookie was super crisp and tasty, especially dipped in the snow ice and ube. The Cookie Dough isn't that good, so I would recommend trying other toppings. read more

I've been to the Convoy location before so when I was in the area with some friends and we were craving dessert, we went here. Snoice has soft serve taiyaki, bubble waffles, and their shaved"snow". What I got: - Kids lychee snow (~$6): Even for the small one, I think it's still pretty big. I really liked this one. The lychee flavor was not too artificial tasting, but was nice and sweet. I've been waiting for this place to open up at our nearby mall for a couple months. Finally here. Showed up on soft opening. My four-year-old daughter and wife love this place, and we made it a really nice family activity to get out of the house and enjoy some dessert. I actually enjoyed my experience a lot more here than at their home location in Kearny Mesa. There is ample seating area outside, umbrellas, and a water fountain for the kids to play. My friend was a little disappointed they didn't have the matcha affagato, as their machine was broken. She opted for the jasmine shaved ice but found that it was also lacking in flavor and value. Originally from Kearny Mesa, Iceskimo's artisan shaved snow has been doing so well they recently opened up two more locations - Chula Vista & Del Mar! Yes people, artisan shaved snow! For anyone who has never tried shaved snow, it's different from shaved ice. Shaved ice is crunchy and usually flavored on top, whereas the snow itself is flavored! It's also drizzled out with a completely different machine, resulting in a usually creamy, fun frozen treat. They have flavors like cookies n cream, toasted coconut, Viet coffee, Thai tea, horchata, and also vegan flavors like passion fruit, lychee, mango! Toppings are similar to those you'd find at a fro-yo place: mini mochi, popping boba, cheesecake bites. I've had Iceskimo's shaved snow before so this time I opted for their soft serve (and I was really craving boba...as per usual.) My bf & I each got a Tiger Milk, which is your choice of soft serve (they had four flavors - when I visited) + boba + oreo crumbs + brown sugar. Honestly, I did not love it because it was wayyyy too heavy on the brown sugar. I love a good brown sugar milk but towards the bottom it just got so cloyingly sweet I couldn't finish it. And I really only got a couple bites of boba :'( which was drenched in the sugar, so that was a bummer. I also wasn't able to detect even a hint of matcha so that was disappointing. If it was there, it was drowned out by the ube & brown sugar. I think vanilla works best because there's just less going on. Less is definitely more here. Very nice to find another "Convoy area" business has opened up a north county location. I just hope that more of the successful Asian restaurants from Convoy realize that they can offer the same menus (and hopefully same prices) in the North County Coastal area and get plenty of customers. There are many, many patrons of Convoy restaurants who would be happy to patronize north county branches of these restaurants, if available, rather than make the drive. That said, the shaved snow (flavored shave ice) and toppings available make this a great alternative to the more calorie laden dessert choices in this mall. read more

I thought the Ube Affogoto was not worth the price with such small amount of shaved ice that was given. It was half cup full for 7.95. Was pretty disappointed when I saw the quantity. It tasted ok too. Id it was good I wouldn't mind paying more. Skip that and just get the waffle creation which comes with soft-serve (vanilla is really creamy ans yummy) as it was delicious and you get more bang for your buck. read more

Tucked in the corner of the plaza, this is a small shop serving shaved ice, boba and waffles. In my opinion, the shaved ice here does not compare to the one you get in Hawaii. My small shaved ice was around $8 ($1 extra to have 2 flavors instead of 1). The waffle with yogurt ice cream was around $10. For these prices, I expect better quality and taste. It's also a small place with little seating .. there's some outdoor seating which is ok if it's not too cold outside. Needless to say, I won't be returning here. read more
