    mango shaved ice
    Maurine S.

I love shaved ice and it's so hard to find! This is the first time I've paid for shaved ice by the ounce! I thought that was only yogurt! It seems the price is reasonable so I ended up paying about $11 for a small mango. You also can put some condensed milk on top before you weight your dessert. The service was mediocre. The staff was not super friendly and they didn't seem organized in getting the shaved ice and takayuki done very quickly but maybe they were short staffed so I won't totally hold it against them. There aren't a lot of seats inside so make sure you dress warmly if you have shaved ice or yogurt during the winter so you can find seats outside!

They have a variety of desserts here from shaved ice, to boba, and taiyaki. Everything is made to order! The taiyaki flavors are nutella, red bean, oreo, mochi, and cheese. The boba didnt quite turn out like the picture, but it was still great. The staff recommended 50% sweetness for the drinks, and it was perfect

I love soft serve ice cream and this place did not disappoint us. We tried their Matcha Snow Affogato and Ube Mochi Waffle and both were very unique creations and tasted really good. Very innovative, perhaps new and different in the neighborhood, and will definitely come back to try their other creations. Similar to how you serve the coffee style affogato, the matcha came separate from the ice cream. When mixed, the matcha blended well with the "shaved" ice cream. This makes my number 1 choice from their menu. But the Ube Mochi Waffle was also good. The waffle tasted similar to the fish shaped taiyaki and mixed well with the soft serve ube ice cream and some bits of mochi. Enjoy!

One of my favorite dessert places! I LOVE the Matcha Affogatto! It's a cup lined with condensed milk, filled with shaved snow, and topped with almond pudding and mochi. The best part is a shot of hot green tea matcha that you pour onto the dessert. It's seriously addicting! Don't forget to get a stamp card, because you will be back! The only drawback about this location is it doesn't really have space for seating, so what I normally do is go to the upper deck where there are plenty of places to sit. The service is quick and friendly.

Sooooo good! 10/10 coming again!!!! It's not too sweet so I really liked that. Their menu has so many things, I wanted to try everything! But this was a really good choice. Will definitely switch it up next time but not sure if it'll to this. New favorite ice cream spot. It has everything tbh.

A nice, little spot tucked in the Del Mar Highlands Town Center. It can be a little bit hard to find via Google Maps, but definitely worth the visit. What I really liked about this spot was that the taiyaki was made to order. I always appreciate food more when it's made fresh, so I totally didn't mind waiting a little for these treats. I got the three taiyaki special and was able to get each treat a different flavor. I got: oreo, nutella and mochi. For an extra $3 or so, I added on some ube ice cream. Everything was so pleasant! The ice cream had such a rich flavor and my favorite taiyaki was the oreo one. I had never tried one with that kind of filling but I'm glad I did now because it set the bar for other spots!

Solid spot on Convoy for some icy Asian desserts! Their signature is the snow, which they shave off a frozen block with a machine. If you build it yourself, you can get toppings too and get charged by weight.

My friends and i had the strawberry shortie, strawberry hibiscus tea, and matcha strawberry. Everything tasted really good. I will say it was all very, very sweet - almost to the point where I couldn't keep consuming it. While all of the treats we tried were strawberry, it is not all they have! The service was fast and the workers were friendly. The shop was small, but there was plenty of seating outside in the plaza.

I've been enjoying Robert's snow creations since trying the Bruce Lee at the original pop-up inside Pangea Bakery many years ago. I've been happy to see Iceskimo's growth and success over the years. We usually go to the Kearny Mesa store but occasionally come to Del Mar too. The snow and service is consistently good. I've liked every flavor I have ever tried. I'm a fan of the original milk, horchata and lychee, though I do miss the fun OG flavors like black sesame (not currently on menu). All the extras like waffle creations and affogatos are amazing (I loved the Purple Yammy). This location even offers soft serve. If you haven't tried Iceskimo you're missing out - so much better than traditional ice cream or soft serve. There's something for everyone. If they ever open a location in Point Loma I'd probably be there everyday.

Shaved snow: 4.5. I love shaved snow more than shaved ice with adds. Came by after multiple pastrami sandwich experiences. After some discussion with a staff member, I ordered a large size with split flavors of Ube and Nutella. I did not add condensed milk or any toppings so my order was very simple. I love the fluffiness of shaved snow (like ribbons) and how it melts in your mouth with flavor. Like ice cream but so much better in my opinion. At least for my flavors, it wasn't overly sweet like similar shaved ice desserts. Pricewise it is kind of high considering it is so fluffy and melts to so little. Even still, I love the stuff and wish there was one near my home. Service was friendly and efficient. Decor is bright and cheerful. Service: 4.5 Ambiance/decor: 4 Value: 3.75

I was looking for a little 'mo'. Iceskimo is a San Diego original which I first experienced in Kearny Mesa almost four years ago. They've recently added this location in a sprawling Del Mar plaza. Finding that it was not far off my route on a recent trip to the northern part of San Diego, I had to stop by to check it out. Maybe I'm getting older or I'm just a little cynical, but the employees were definitely pretty young. As were much of the other clientele. But I was focused on getting back to the shaved snow, also called xue hua bing back in Taiwan from which it originated. It's been getting very rare in my usual city of residence despite the unique combination of milky flavor and melting thin ice texture. Aside from their bubble waffles, soft serves, and various drinks a la boba establishments, their calling card really is that shaved snow. And their business model is by weight, which they surely augment by offering various toppings. At $0.63 an ounce, this is not cheap at all, so be ready for some sticker shock. They aren't giving snow samples at the moment, so I made the difficult decision to go with a "split flavor" order, which prompted an automatic $1.00 surcharge. I also couldn't risk trying the non-milk fruit flavors, so I had to go with a safe choice and an unfamiliar choice, both of which were frozen into cylinders of ice along with milk. The familiar jasmine milk tea tasted just as expected, and the unfamiliar Vietnamese coffee was rich and sweet, also as expected. The textures were both free of ice crystals, as expected. But the whole experience didn't seem to last long, and a lot of the snow melted in relatively mild whether, perhaps from hot toppings including the boba. Frankly, I wasn't very excited with any of the toppings, not the egg pudding, nor the chewy mochi, nor even the strawberry or cheesecake chunks. I should have kept it simple with the snow and maybe some condensed milk. And it still cost me a pretty penny with the pricing by weight and the +$1.00 for the two flavors. Come to Iceskimo because they have outdoor seating and because this is is a rare variant of a specific type of dessert, and stick to the pure dessert itself. I still want to return next trip down, but I'll just edit my purchase accordingly.

This new branch of Iceskimo is located in the Del Mar Highlands Town Center on the ground level in the cluster of food/drink shops near the fountain. The parking situation is much better than that of their original brethren in Kearny Mesa. This store might be slightly smaller in size because they had no indoor seating available, but there were chairs and tables outside so you can enjoy your treat next to the fountain and people watch. Shaved snow is the main product, but they also carried items like bubble waffles, soft serve, milk teas, snow affogato, and even pineapple Dole whip. On this visit, I selected a Tiger Soft Serve with ube ice cream as the base. Brown sugar, boba pearls, and crumbled Oreo cookies were the toppings. It was essentially a custom ice cream sundae. The boba and the Oreos gave the dessert a contrasting texture to the smooth soft serve. Overall, I enjoyed my ice cream enough to give Iceskimo a four star experience.

Came for a simple dessert after dinner. The whole shopping plaza is fairly full of cars, there's a variety of shops, bars, restaurants, and a movie theater. Tried a simple pineapple dole whip soft serve and it was good palette cleansing. Plenty of outdoor seating that's a huge plus.

It's good value for what you get but definitely best split among another person. The service here is really friendly and they make the orders pretty quick. I love how they have monthly specials and make all their menu items into little works of art. It's a great place to take kids to as well since they make little shapes with the desserts. There is some parking, but as others have said, Koli Bar is shared with Yakyudori. I'll definitely be back here!

The woman helping us was patient while we made up our minds. I needed napkins as it started dripping immediately, even through the thick coating. We sat at the tables outside and ate our cones. The butterscotch tasted ok but it was really thick and waxy so I didn't finish it. If I were in the area i might come back and get ice cream or soft serve again but skip the dip.

Very busy friday/weekend nights, lines usually long but if you go weekdays it's better. the snow is made with real ingredients unlike other places that use powders/syrups for flavor. The blocks of snow are already flavored (think of it like a big block or ice cream, just shaved in layers). Service is also generally good! I would recommend getting any dairy based snow with condensed milk layered! it brings out the flavor. the non dairy flavors are like sorbet but also very tasty (i like the lychee or super lemon which tastes like frozen lemonade). if you pick a build your own bowl, it's weighed (snow or softserve) after you get toppings. I notice it's usually between $5-$10 obviously dependent on weight but the minimum is 4.50 so if you are below that, they'll just charge 4.50. I'd recommend this place if you want a lighter sweet treat! Other places can be heavy but because this is shaved, it's easier on the tummy. they do also have waffle creations that seem good for couples to share~ (my favorite is the strawberry shorty, it has cheesecake bites and fresh strawberries, the waffle, and vanilla softserve). they have taiyaki too but it's not like somi somi where there's icecream inside, it's just filled or plain (the nutella one is really good). also their thai tea drink is really good

I would have liked one more row of candy topping options, as the ones I chose (brownie bites and mini Choco cups) weren't very sweet. The shaved ice cream itself comes out in long piece which isn't as satisfying to me as smaller crystals like in kakigori or even harder pellets like dip n dots. Icekimo's shave texture just did not enhance the dessert eating experience for me. That said, I did enjoy the flavors - lychee was light and refreshing while the Thai ice tea flavor tasted exactly like the drink.
