Was pleasantly surprised with my experience. Upon entering the decor and atmosphere was beautiful. The music playing was very pleasant and relaxing, and customer service was great. Our server was also the hostess but she checked up on us often and was very warm and sweet. The food also did not disappoint. We did the all you can eat sushi on Sunday and ordered the vegetable tempura that came with a really yummy dipping sauce. We also had the tiger roll, 2 in 1 crab roll, sunshine roll, and Godzilla roll. The tiger & sunshine roll were my favorite! So so good! Hesitant to try it cause of strip mall location but so glad we did. All the sushi is so good and fresh. The $5 maitais are strong and so delish. Crab Rangoon, Mongolian beef, orange chicken and general chicken all good and good cuts of meat. Not fatty or chewy. Love that they offer brown rice too. The hibachi noodles are the best and we have had them everywhere. They offer a lil bit of everything and every time it is fresh and we never leave disappointed. Fantastic service! Good ambiance (which came as a surprise). Our server was very attentive, thoughtful, and sweet (always smiling!). While we were selecting our dishes she made good suggestions. She would come by often to refill our hot tea. We had an issue with one of the dishes and she even brought out the chef to address our concern. We ordered the ginger salad, edamame, vegetable Gyoza, crab roll, vegetable roll, and chicken skewers, and a chicken rice dish I can't remember the name of. All the food was very tasty. The wait time for our food was ridiculous. We had a hard time ordering and asking for things when we needed. After asking the waitress for a spoon my friend had to get up and go find one. We ordered numerous apps and rolls (about 4 - 5 of each), I highly recommend their version of jalapeno poppers, its very unique. We also ordered two entrees, a dessert, and four cocktails. Everything we ate was fantastic. Our bill was just over $100 (pre-tip, post-tax) which IMHO was pretty good considering all we ate. We are restaurant owners as well. ..I won't say where but we're in burbank. ..(asian)...I wish I could find servers that good...a great experience overall. ..sushi was really good. ..we will come here on our days off..these people work long hours and very hard...give them a break...a previous review mentioned getting sick...my experience from being in Japan is you have to be careful on what kinds of sushi you mix..not saying that's what happened but don't mix salmon and mackerel. .as well as some others. .we loved it..I hope these guys do well..this is a rough business. ..I will definitely support! read more

Very flavorful varities of meals including sushi. My favorite is the "White Dragon and Volcano". The only thing that I don't like is the rules for the All You Can Eat Sushi. There will be a waiter/waitress on each corner watching you just incase you share your sushi with a person that didn't order the "All You Can Eat" special. You cannot take it home, if you do not finish it then you will be charged which does not make sense. read more

Konichiwa, that's how you say hello in Japanese. OMG this place is awesome you wouldn't know it even in the small strip mall and yes you might not be able to actually read the sign because the Chopsticks do perform the letter "H" but if you look on the Main strip mall sign it reads "Ichiban", and with the little thumbs up between the letter H trust me this place is a big thumbs up :-) so we thought let's go in and see what it's about haven't had Japanese food in decades, and I was not disappointed at all. Now you might think Japanese food is all about raw fish and very expensive but it's not all about that they have plenty of steaks and chicken cooked and yes if you still enjoy Chinese cuisine they do have a portion of the menu that you can basically get at a regular Chinese restaurant but this place has awesome food even if you're just ordering what you would call the Chinese menu, so they have a lot of different Flair of food here and everyone I believe would be impressed and surprised. It is even great for the money. But this is a great Japanese restaurant the sushi yes finally a sushi place on the South Side that's well worth its namesake. The steak chicken or filet mignon dinner comes with so much extra it's worth the 22 or $26 they charged in fact more than worth it. the Mai Tai's on Mondays are only five bucks ,wow I was Tipsy after two of them and I'm a grown man. Their specials are awesome the California rules are to roll over and die for they are just the best. I woke up in the morning dreaming about this place after we just had dinner the night before that really happens with me and being an Italian-American I enjoy my Italian food also enjoy Chinese but go to this place the Japanese Cuisine the bill of fare meaning menu and the atmosphere is simply to die for they even have the place decked out in the old ways of Japan if you know anything about Japanese culture. Our waitress was a sweetheart she helped us out a lot they found it interesting that I knew some Japanese :-) but again if you passed this place and think it's just an ordinary restaurant, it is not by far. I did enjoy the smooth jazz music over the intercom speakers but I'm hoping for more Japanese music next time. So this place does have everything so before you go to that next boring Chinese restaurant and again this place does have what you would call Chinese dinners but the Japanese dinners themselves are simply awesome so whether you're into raw or cooked meats and fish this place is simply to die for can't stop thinking about it can't wait to go back. Forget about going downtown you'll find this place just as good and not have to go that far to find it. Nothing is too expensive here even the desert their fried ice cream for six bucks me and my sweetheart shared it and it was plenty. We invited our son for dinner he flipped for the place says he's going to bring his girlfriend. This place is a pearl in a oyster shell, an untapped Jewel. This place deserves its "5" five stars. Once you're there the first time you will want and won't be able to wait to go back again :-) they also give you a 15% coupon on the next visit for dine-in or carry-out or delivery which makes it well worth going the first time.
