Lunch bento box with chicken teriyaki and tempura

Came here on a Thursday for lunch. Our waitress was wonderful and very patient as we had a 3,4 & 7 yo with us. Food was delicious and good portion. Would definitely return!

It felt like I had not had sushi in over a year, so I decided to try Ichiban since it was close by and highly rated on Yelp. From the outside, all the windows were blacked out, which was unusual because you cannot see inside. Once we walked in, the layout was typical for a sushi spot with a bar and a few tables. We were seated quickly and given menus to look over. There were plenty of options, although I did notice they did not have any rolls with eel, which is something I usually enjoy. We ordered two rolls and they came out quickly. The flavor was great, the portions were decent, and everything tasted fresh, though I did feel the prices could have been a bit lower. Overall, Ichiban is a solid choice if you are craving sushi.

My husband ordered a bento box with chicken teriyaki, chicken katsu, and California rolls.  The California rolls were good.  However, he said the teriyaki and katsu were just okay and definitely not worth $25.95.

I am a fan! We ordered the cherry blossom roll, the orange blossom roll, and the samurai. All tasted amazing and were presented beautifully. I couldn't have picked a better restaurant to have my first real postpartum meal! The orange blossom roll was so simple yet so flavorful! We loved the sauce that was drizzled on it and the samurai was a fun choice we had never had before with a delicious kick from the fresh jalapeños. If you like spicy, if highly recommend this! And the cherry blossom roll is our go-to and the reason we picked this restaurant to begin with and it didn't disappoint!

I'm updating to 5 stars even though I haven't been back mostly due to responsible spending. But I always think of the sesame chicken here when I want sesame chicken!

We visited Ichiban Sushi on July 16th 2025 and placed an order to go. The food was ready within 20 minutes which is regular time. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Lobby was clean and customer service was fine.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Only when we arrived home I found how much condiment they put in the bag for our order where at least 5 positions required soy sauce/wasabi/ginger. When the waitress was handing the bad to me I literally asked if they put soy sauce and ginger, well she said yes and we went home happy and excited to try this food. Thank ME that my last grocery shopping included soy sauce and I had some pickled ginger at home. The last I would wanted to do is going to the store and having my sushi get older. Next thing which just ruined everything, completely everything - is "beef yakisoba". It was just impossible to eat, the meat was so bad, not fresh at all and obviously the person who tried to eat it got food poisoning! The whole container went to the trash. The squid in "IKA" was rubbery like a shoe sole. Went in the trash as well. But at least I did not get a food poisoning. I insist manager or owner to contact me regarding all the issues we had with such experience. In conclusion I just wanna say that the only items I recommend are 49ers and orange blossom. Classic but delicious and fresh

Great tasting sushi! loved my roll. I got very full eating here and only had to order 1 roll. Never had that happen before. Quality is great. Miso tasted good, not too salty. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The interior is very small.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Service is very kind and works hard.

We went here twice so far and found them to be pretty good. The service was great the last time we came as well. The Lion King roll was good. The Bento boxes are enjoyable. The place was clean and had a good overall smell, which is a big thing for me. The bathrooms were nice. The only reason I didn't give them 5 stars was because the first time we came about a year ago the service was different. This most recent time was much better though. I would certainly recommend them.

A tiny unassuming restaurant. The interior is a bit dark. The few times that I dined in, I only saw the same lone server. She was great though... friendly, efficient, and attentive. Food is good. We normally go for the bento box. My fave here is the sesame chicken. It is delicious!

SOOOOOOoooooooo GOOD! Always! I sometimes don't know what's better - the food or the service. We have been eating here consistently since 2019. The food is ALWAYS fast, fresh, hot, consistently good, and perfectly proportioned and appropriately priced. Ernee (short for Ernestine) is magic!!! I don't know how she remembers every order we place without writing anything down, but she does. Every - single - time! And although we only eat here about once a month, she always greets us with the WARMEST of hellos and a "do you want your usual?" I feel like we are eating in her home more than we are a public establishment. There isn't anything on this menu we haven't tried now. The spicy edamame is really special - do not miss out on this! I always forget to take pictures because the food is so good, it's not until halfway through the meal (and clearly not Yelp picture worthy). This charming sushi restaurant may be small, but don't let that detour you if there isn't an immediate place to sit. Their service is so fast and so good, your wait won't be long - and trust me, it's worth it! Thank you Ichiban for being OUR sushi place!

Disappointing Experience Due to Food Safety Concern…read more I visited this restaurant on Wednesday for lunch. This was actually my second time dining here. My first visit was pleasant, which is why I decided to come back. This time, I ordered what I believe was the tri-tip steak wrap. As I was finishing the first half of my wrap, I noticed a dead fly in my food. Needless to say, I was shocked and immediately lost my appetite. I walked to the front and asked to speak with a manager. The cashier who helped me was very friendly and professional. I explained the situation to her, and she relayed it to the manager. While I do appreciate that they refunded my meal, what disappointed me most was the manager's response. He never came over to speak with me, apologize, or acknowledge the situation directly. From where I was standing, he appeared visibly disturbed when informed, but he simply instructed the cashier to issue a refund and never addressed me as the customer. I understand that mistakes happen and that it was a busy lunch rush. However, finding a fly in a meal is a serious food safety issue, and I believe a manager or owner should take a moment to personally speak with the customer, show concern, and offer an apology. A little empathy would have gone a long way. The refund was appreciated, but the lack of acknowledgment and customer care left a much stronger impression than the refund itself. Unfortunately, after this experience, I'm hesitant to return.

I first called the Roseville location. The gal who answered was very sweet, but she couldn't answer catering questions and let me know she'd need to check with the kitchen. Rather than play phone tag, I decided to swing by in person (the following day) to see if I could make a stronger connection. The gal working was just as kind face-to-face as the first girl I spoke with on the phone, she also did her best to answer what she could, and ultimately recommended I get in touch with Kat, who handles catering. When I finally connected with Kat, I felt more at ease about going with this restaurant. She was absolutely fantastic and should probably have a PhD in reassurance. She patiently walked me through the options, answered everything with confidence, and made me feel completely comfortable placing a fairly sizable catering order over the phone for pickup at the Rocklin location. Five stars for Kat. She is exactly the kind of person you hope to work with when planning an event. On pickup day, I arrived about 15-20 minutes early. Some restaurants build in a little buffer and have orders sitting around before the promised pickup time, but not these folks. My order was ready exactly when they said it would be, and honestly, I prefer that. It meant everything was as fresh as possible rather than sitting under a warmer waiting for me. We chose the #2 catering package. Of the options we chose: a large Greek salad, two skewers of meat per person, pita bread, dip, lemon potatoes, and pilaf rice. The presentation was beautiful, everything was thoughtfully packaged, and, the food was very good. If you're deciding between the proteins, I'd give a slight edge to the steak skewers. They stayed tender, while the chicken, was a bit drier by comparison. If you're looking for catering that's both visually impressive and well received, The Great Greek delivers on both fronts. Whether you're feeding family, coworkers, or guests at a special event, this is the kind of spread that earns compliments before people even take their first bite. Four and a half shining stars!

Stopped by Buckhorn for the first time for Father's Day lunch. Great joint for pretty good BBQ!…read more Buckhorn is an order at the counter and get a number type place. The line was long when we came in, but moved quickly. The bigger problem is that there aren't nearly enough tables for how many folks were dining in. We did end up finding a table on their patio- which is always a win for our family. For about $70, we got two kids' meals (one slider and one chicken tenders), a shareables order of the tri-tip tacos (that my wife ate as her entree), and a two-protein platter with the pulled pork and tri-tip. They asked how we wanted our tri-tip cooked, and we answered medium, but all of the tri-tip came out well done. The flavors of everything were good, though, and the portions are substantial. The kids' meals are a great value. The two-protein platter was enough for two meals if you wanted it to be. The tacos were filled generously and were very tasty. I enjoyed the coleslaw- though I read some others find it bland. I did not think that at all. I really enjoyed the selection of sauces available at Buckhorn. They have a pump-your-own-sauce station with several types of BBQ sauce, horseradish sauce, ketchup, and spicy ranch. Yum! My favorite was the mustard-based BBQ sauce. Overall, I would totally return to Buckhorn. I could probably lean 4 stars here, but I think it's a better spot for BBQ than many others in my area and in the Roseville area that I've tried. I would have expected shaved gyro meat, shredded lettuce, sliced tomatoes and onions, Kalamata olives, and more traditional gyro toppings. The tzatziki was tasty, although it tasted more mayonnaise-based than yogurt-based to me. The packaging also needs improvement because the gyro leaked through the bag by the time I got home. The best part was the customer service. The two young females working there were incredibly sweet, friendly and welcoming, and the restaurant was clean and cute. After waiting about ten minutes longer than was reasonable, I did seek out the hostess's help in tracking down someone who could take our order. She was super apologetic, but of course it wasn't her job as she was busy seating people and handling her own tasks. The biggest disappointment was the food - in looking back at the photos the French toast we ordered looked nothing like the photos - first, when I asked what the difference between the 1/2 and full order was we were told it was 4 slices vs. 6 slices. That definitely seemed to justify the price so we ordered a half order for my young boy and I to share. What came out was shockingly different - it was two tiny slices of bread that looked like the inexpensive sliced grocery store bread. Because it was already small thinly sliced bread before being cooked, it was truly tiny once plated. We were honestly surprised they felt comfortable serving it. Maybe they ran out of their thick large French toast bread? No matter, they certainly shouldn't have served what we received though. It was confusing and embarrassing, IMO. So, we were misinformed that it was a 4 slice portion when it was 2 small thin slices of bread cut in half...that is not 4 slices of French toast. And then the waitress didn't come around our entire meal so I couldn't inquire about it until we were done. I ended up giving the French toast to my boy who ate it all in under 120 seconds, no joke (because there wasn't much to eat) and then he said he was still hungry. I, too, was quite hungry. Other family members agreed that the taste was good, but nothing special, and the servings did not match the high prices. So, the food was tasty enough but the portions were unreasonably small and do not justify the price, the service lacks greatly, and the misinformation was truly disappointing and misleading. When I did politely ask at the end about why she said it was 4 slices vs. 6 slices the waitress backpedaled stating she meant it was 4 halves vs. 6 halves...and then she apologized that we were leaving hungry and offered me a biscuit. ??? Why would I want a biscuit? I just wanted the meal the waitress told me I was ordering. I wanted what some previous customers have shared in their photos here. The French toast in the photos here on Yelp looks legit and exactly what we wanted and expected...again, so odd the kitchen staff felt comfortable plating up the order we received. Zero quality control there. Honestly, it was just a weird and disappointing experience that had us leaving hungry and unsatisfied, so we went home and prepared a meal there. We are super chill people with realistic expectations, so for us to struggle with this first experience says a lot about how subpar it was. The price of a soft drink is unreasonable as well ($5) - which isn't a huge deal, but with the disappointing food it was just the icing on the cake. A large cup is served but it's completely filled with ice. When asked if we wanted a refill she brought a small cup over with 85% ice and some soda, using that small cup to refill the large cup...splashing soda all over the table and then having to use her dirty damp rag shoved in her apron pocket to clean it up around our food plates, which was definitely unsanitary and made us cringe. There were customers there though - not sure if they were first-timers like us due to the new Farmers Market, but maybe they do have a repeat clientele so none of this matters to them because they can keep their doors open without new customers like us. Sad to try a local business we were excited about and then have this disappointing experience. We envisioned making trips to the new Farmers Market across the street often and then enjoying a wonderful breakfast afterwards, as a nice new Saturday morning tradition. Sadly we will not be returning to this restaurant.
